Located in an HMART so it was more of a fast food restaurant if anything. Service was fast and the cashier knows what to recommend! Dishes are a bit on a smaller portion and has less flavor than I thought but for the price, you can't beat it

Tried 홍콩반점 Paik's Noodle, one of Chef Baek Jong-won's famous restaurant brands in H mart Westminster. My friend ordered the non-spicy noodle soup, and I got the seafood stir-fried noodles. I didn't even look at the price at first so when I tapped my card and saw it was $22 for one dish, I was a little shocked. BUT... the portion was huge. Like easily-two-people huge. I couldn't finish it and ended up taking leftovers home. The stir-fried noodles had great wok-hei and were actually tasty. But I do have one complaint: the wait time. The place wasn't busy at all, yet we waited almost 30 minutes for our food. I walked over to check what was going on and saw the cook stir-frying while chatting with someone. Not sure if he was teaching or just chitchatting, but it definitely slowed things down. That's something they could improve. Overall: delicious flavor, massive portions, but be ready to wait a bit.

This location is in the food court of the newly built and very large hmart. Service is fast and staff friendly. When your food is ready, your order number will appear on the monitor. The food court is pretty big and you have lots of other choices to choose from. Great place to hang out. The food is yummy! Jjampong is spicy, seafoody, and the meat makes it perfect! I'll be back!

The Jajangmyeon is decent, but I get yelled at for waiting at the counter while waiting for my food. I can't believe I got told off while waiting for my food. I went on weekday, after lunch time, a couple of weeks after opening to avoid peak busyness. The food court was busy, but not packed with nowhere to go. I gave my order, there was lots of space at the end of the storefront counter so I stood at the opposite end and was told to not lean against the granite counter and to leave that area open. This is another occasion where the single diner gets the short stick. It's not my fault the aisle in front of the restaurants are tight. It's not my fault that I'm a single diner and can't go sit at a table in the dining area while waiting for my food to get prepped because if I sit down and try to come back, someone is going to take the spot I just got up from for one minute. So the most logical thing is to wait by the restaurant because you are making me pickup my order anyways. My response was, "Where else do you want me to wait?" And they had no answer for me other than a wan smile. Jajangmyeon - Portion size is typical and the black sauce has good flavor and about the right amount of pork in it. There was more than enough sauce to cover the noodles and it came with a few pieces of yellow radish. The price at 12.95 is reasonable. You do not get any other panchan with this dish. A lot of people seem to order the noodles here. They also want you to bring your empty tray and dishes back to the stall you bought your food from. This is not a plus or minus to me, just wanted to give you a head's up is all. Yes, I know the food court is packed tight. But that is no reason scold someone who is trying to stay out of the way by waiting at the far end of your counter.

One of the better Paik's location in my opinion. It's located inside the Hmart food court and there's plenty of tables to sit. You order and then they'll call your number when it's ready. The cashier was kind. We went for weekday lunch right when they opened so there wasn't many people but our food took a while to come out. Their menu has a lot of items that are "coming soon" so it'll be nice when those items are added. Ordered the jjangmyun and jjampong. The jjangmyun sauce was the perfect consistency. The noodles were also a good texture. The jjampong was a good amount of spice and had decent amount of seafood. They provide yellow radish as a side. A downside to the food court in this hmart is that they don't have a water station, but they do have water bottles for purchase.

Located inside Hmarts food hall. its got center location, complete with a pole like literally in the middle in front of the counter, super awk awk. So.....its not well explained and the pics do not match what comes out exactly which i found out after. Sweet & Sour pictures with veggies like onion squares and looks like peppers for $24 is steep but gotta try everything right. And i asked if the dishes were a la carte or like came with a set like rice or side dishes and the lady i guess doesnt speak english to understand but i havent learned enough i assume korean to explain so ill just go with it. annnnd what you get is a heaping plate of light airy crispy delicious chicken strips, and a bowl of thick gelatinous sauce. And yes theyre all A LA CARTE, so its a massive like family sized portion, no rice or anything. Wouldve been nice to know beforehand for a single diner like me. Good thing i decided to be safe and order one first to see how bug it was before getting other dishes. There is unfortunately not a single veggie in this actual dish but its like 3 people portions so i cant go order anything else to balance out this meal so....welps. TLDR its decently good. but not single diner friendly. and very expensive, but every stand in this hall seems to be rolling deep. Wouldnt try again. Hall has plenty of self seating. Love all the wood tables and benches. Staff clean the tables frequently. Bring your empty tray back to the stand, it's usually a rack on the side that u slide it in on. Bathrooms at the end past the claw machine wall. Music is nice, collecting more songs for my playlist while im here. Parking lot is massive shared with all the other stores. Entrance unfortunately is nearest the exit only opening doors after the cashiers, so either stand awkwardly at the exit till somome exits and lets u in or go in through the front, snake your way around cuz of shelves to the cashiers and innocently walk through without any items as they judge you iono why, how else am i expected to get to the food hall placed at the exit but the exit door only opens from inside?

Located in the Hmart food hall. I ordered the #1 jajangmyeon to go and had to wait 5-10 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Portion was decent for the price and the sauce was on the sweeter side for me. The food was not as warm so I had heat it up when I got home.

Excited to try Paik's noodle. We ordered their Stir-Fried Jajangmyeon and it was massive! Sooo good and spicy. They don't skimp on the seafood and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The serving was so big that we had leftovers for the next day. Will be back to try the other offerings next time!

    Ann Q.

Why can't they offer half sizes??? I just want a sampler! I need my tangsuk with my jjajjangmein! Paik's Black Bean sauce always on point!! What do the different qty peas on the top mean tho? Is it just random or is it differentiated based on what option you order? I have no idea... My 3pea topper was a #1 menu item so very basic.

I came here about 3 times and it's phenomenal - better than the ones I had in South Korea! You really can taste the 불맛 smokey flavors through the soup and noodles which a lot of other paik noodles fail to achieve. Highly recommend the stir fried black bean noodles 쟁반짜장 (it's the bigger size one and the spicier one but not too spicy at all) and the spicy seafood noodles 짬뽕. The owner and the workers are so warm and kind as well.

I didn't know they were popular on social media, as I just did a yelp search for jalapeño chicken and saw how massive the quantity of food that they give you is. When they put the fried rice and noodles in the container, I was thinking they were going to use that as a filler and give me very little meat. It was so much food, I almost wanted to tell them they could take some out. Kung pao chicken and the jalapeño chicken have been my two regular items, but I may change it up to test the others and see how those taste too.

This review is specifically for takeout, but honestly, even the takeout holds up on its own. The shu mai are thick, juicy, and packed with larger pieces of pork and shrimp, which I love. They're tender, flavourful, and perfectly seasoned without being overly salty or heavy. And I have to mention the satay. I'm not sure if they make it in-house or use a specific brand, but whatever they're doing, it's one of the best satays I've had and better than pretty much any store-bought brand I've tried and better than a lot of what I've had at other restaurants.

Turns out, it wasn't nearly as crowded as before - though spoiler: the price has increased a lot (I want to say it was $25/lb 10 years ago, and now is $37/lb). Keep in mind too, you can't get a small amount like 1lb - usually it's gonna be 3+lb so your bill is easily going to hit mid-$100 to $200s from the lobster alone. That being said, many people swear this is the best, and that's why they can charge whatever they want. I'm actually allergic to lobster (lol) but am a team player so I just sampled it for the funsies, and had to get another dish to actually eat (went with the beef lok luk). My family said the lobster noodle was good, but not like, fantastic (which we were expecting not fantastic but yeah, mostly came here to a family meeting.) The beef lok luk was also pretty good like, 4.3 of 5 - we just had another version at Paradise which was astounding (like 4.6) though also more expensive and pretty far away. Overall, not sure if we'll come back again as we're more curious about the copycats that have popped up which might be 80% as good and much more affordable. Stay tuned! :)

This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Capital Seafood Restaurant opened at 11am; the wait was well worth it. All three of us loved it. There is a decent size dedicated parking lot just for the standalone restaurant, so was able to find easy parking. We were greeted immediately and directed to a circular booth, giving the three of us plenty of space. The inside space looked recently renovated, with a dedicated banquet room, and two dining hall wings. Hot complementary hot tea was brought for all, and ice water later when I specifically asked for it. Service was excellent throughout. The menu is a book, with the first two pages dedicated to a large lunch menu. Here it doesn't come with any additions (i.e. no soup or egg roll), but white rice is included and served family style. What it does have is a large selection (a whopping 53 different items), including some items I've never seen on a lunch before, all for $13.50. The menu is displayed on the first page (27 items) of the menu book, with the standard vegetarian, chicken, beef, or pork dishes. But by turning the page, one gets to another 26, this time mostly seafood. Many of the items caught by eye. L36 -Ship with Garlic Sauce - it came with big jumbo headless/shell-off shrimp, using a dark pungent sauce that I really liked. Vegetables were green and red peppers, red onions, and a lot of wood ear mushrooms (which I really like). It's a dish I would recommend, especially at this price point. L53 - Pan Fried Whole Fish - didn't really expect much from this, but asked the waitress what type of fish (was expecting tilapia or sway). When she answered 'flounder', I had to try it....and it was much, much better than I expected for the lunch price. It was a WHOLE expertly prepared flounder, with a crisp batter that I enjoyed, and a sweet delicate meat. It came with 2 sauces (soy based, sweet/sour), more for the batter. It was served immediately after it had been prepared. I really loved it, and felt it was a bargain for the price. 90- House Chow Mein HK style ($17) - a disk of deep fried chow mein, topped with a mixture of greens and different meats (including shrimp), in a lighter sauce. It was served immediately after preparation, which allowed us to choose if we want to eat the noodles while still crispy, or let the sauce soak in. Portions are not huge (even for the normal menu item like the pan fried noodles), but very appropriate for the prices. The three of us were able to finish our meal, with no need for take home containers. Soda is only provided from cans ($2.75 each) and I got a bottle of Tsingtao for $5. The check was brought to the table, with a 3% service charge for use of credit card. I enjoy doing a little research about the history of a restaurant like this. On a preliminary scan, there are multiple restaurants with the name of Capital Seafood in the LA/OC area: This location (with the original name of Capital Seafood, having domain of capitalseafoodgg.com) was founded in 1996 by immigrants from Cambodia, and recently was taken over by the original owner's son. There is a different restaurant (also named Capital Seafood, under the Capital Seafood Group in Irvine) running 3 Capital Noodle Bars in Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Brea, along with a Capital Seafood Restaurant in Irvine. This group seems to be related to Kim Tar (a SGV restaurant founded in 1982 in Monterey Park), signifying that they are using those original recipes in their restaurant. This location doesn't seem to be operated by that group, instead run as a separate restaurant. There is also a New Capital Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights, which doesn't seem to be operationally related to either one, though most likely branching off at some point. The only thing common seems to be the 'Capital' name (and the assumption that the owners/operators are probably related).

Wanted fresh live lobster and this place had the best price per lb. To give you an idea, Kings Fish…read moreHouse was $67/lb, the other Capital Seafood at Irvine Spectrum was $45/lb, and this place was like $28.99/lb. So we made the drive to Garden Grove. What stood out to me over the Capital Seafood in Irvine was the much friendlier service and the 90s R&B music in the background which was cool. Got the Lobster with house special sauce, Roasted duck with steam buns ($50), and Sautéed Pea sprouts veggies. * The lobster was definitely the star but just know the sauce is very buttery so may try a lighter sauce next time. Also still needed to crack some pieces so hands got really dirty (4/5) . * The duck was unfortunately too dry and tough and skin not so crispy so I will prob skip next time. But portion was good. (3/5) * The peasprout veggies were good and had a nice crunch but needed a little more salt. (4/5) Hot Tea was smooth, seating comfy. Only thing it was freezing cold and they should prob drop the AC a few degrees. The white girl server was super nice and always checked on us. Overall good experience and will be back.
