Dr. Hiura is awkward, asks a lot of personal questions, tells lots of stories, and carries on in a way that did not make me feel comfortable. Their office is overtly religious as demonstrated by the relics and religious-themed music playing in the background (again, uncomfortable). The exam itself was standard. They tested my eyes for a very rare disease that requires me to purchase extremely expensive, hard contact lenses to counteract this very, very rare disease. No, thank you. I received my glasses and the prescription was very wrong. They ended up causing headaches and severe strain in my eyes. All in all, I am not going back (to correct my prescription or continue to be a customer) because I do not trust them to accurately provide the service that I am paying for. Their practices are sketchy and the environment is uncomfortable, even for an optometrist's office.

The front desk personal was polite enough, considering my tardiness. The place is small, and a little cluttered. Most likely of it's size. But it was quiet and the Doctor seemed busy and involved with his patients. The front desk personal helped me with the paperwork needed and did preliminary testing. They were continually polite, kind and soft spoken. Then the Doc came out and, true to a review on Yelp... He had on a bow tie. I thought it looked fashionable and well on this man. It was a good touch to give you an idea of the Doc's personality. He got straight to the exam, asking important questions and and finding out my needs. He clearly knew my eyes and I could tell right away that he had a good understanding of where I was as he went through. I've never had an eye doctor do the workings of my prescription as accurately and quickly as him. He did tell stories... But they were good and he was personable. I prefer that. When it was over, he made no bones about understanding that I was there for the exam only. He was not about the money. Which was refreshing. He made suggestions of where I could get frames if I should choose that would fit my budget and made sure his staff gave me prescription. I would visit him again, when my annual exam comes again.

I ordered a pair of glasses over a month ago and have been trying to get an update. The problem is that no one ever answers the phone. I've called at different times throughout the day--9 AM, noon, 3 PM--and every single call goes straight to voicemail. I've followed the instructions, left voicemails, and have never received a callback. It's incredibly frustrating when a business is impossible to reach, especially when customers are simply trying to get information about a prescription order they've already paid for. I understand offices get busy, but consistently sending callers to voicemail and never responding is unacceptable when this is happening on a daily basis. I hope management addresses these communication issues because the experience is nowhere near what it used to be. I Would not recommend this optometrist office.

Great experience from beginning to end…read more Went in for my first visit here on 5-2-25 and was very impressed by the service. The entire staff were extremely friendly and efficient. I was seen as soon as I walked in. They did a great job taking images and testing my eye. Dr Shields was super nice, patient, and explained my results thoroughly. I never felt rushed or treated like another number. Jasmin helped me out my whole way through and even hooked me up with a couple pairs of glasses through my insurance. This is my only eye doctor and place I'll order glasses from here on out.

Dr. Shields explained all of the results of my examinations to me in terms that I could understand. I wear reading glasses every day for work as I'm constantly in front of a computer screen, so my eyes tend to get very irritated and dry by the end of the day. She offered me a coupon for an over-the-counter eye-drop solution that I'm using daily now. I was able to pick out a new eyeglass frame, too. Her members of staff were very warm, patient and friendly as well.

Good Doctor, questionable ethics. Dr Gill's front office is dominated by a mean aggressive manager…read morenamed Cheryl. Her poor attitude and explosive personality is what frightened me. The girls behind the desk are in Cheryl's domain and several of them think it's ok to behave rudely to patients. None of them look very happy with their jobs. Why? My guess is Cheryl who is backed up by Dr Gill. Instead of hearing both sides of the story, Dr Gill relies on Cheryl and I guess if you piss her off - by pointing out her mistakes - you can expect retaliation. It's indicative of the politics of this office. This atmosphere - to me - pervades the entire office. It's too bad. Dr Gill - under supervision - implanted a monitoring device under my skin. Experimental device made by Boston Scientific. 7 months later I get a bill for $7000 for the device. I ignore the bill. 4 weeks later I get another bill so I attempt to contact Dr Gill's office manager (Cheryl). Cheryl did not return my call so I reluctantly contacted Blue Cross. After I called Blue Cross they straightened things out. The next time I saw Cheryl at an appointment - and tried to explain that I would always call her first - she lost her temper and told me to leave and never come back. She claimed she called me (she didn't) and proceeded to eject me from the office. Dr Gill should know better, but he seemed to be annoyed at me because I told him that I thought Trump was a disaster. So if you want to support Dr Gill, remember that he supports Trump. He certainly doesn't support the rank and file like me. Beware of Cheryl though - it appears to me that she has a mean streak. She approached me the very first time in a hostile and aggressive manner and it seems some of her aggressive behavior may have rubbed off on a few of their staff. Dr. Gill? He should know better. I believe he has undertaken more work than he can manage. I don't want to believe he tried to scam me out of $7,000, but from every angle it appears when he was unable to do so, he lost interest in being my Doctor.
