I have been going to this Dr. for a few years and I have never really had any issues with him or his staff. Unfortunately, this past year my eye sensitivity and vision really took a turn for the worst. I had to actually interact with Dr. Silverman and ask him some pointed medical questions for the first time. Candidly, he was dry as a cracker. I got the feeling he was just trying to rush through the exam and move me along. When I kept telling him about my eye sensitivity, all he said was, "wear sunglasses". He diagnosed me with dry eye problems, handed me some samples and said I could use OTC products. He offered to write me a prescription if those did not work. After trying the samples and having little change, I faxed the office and asked them to please fill the prescription, which sadly never happened. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this office. No hard feelings, I wish them the best in their new locale. read more

I was amazingly treated like trash where I have VSP insurance and have even been there before where they claimed they could not find me! You will likely get the impression that I didn't like Dr. Silverman or his office -- here's why; I've had something floating around in my eye for 4 or 5 days, so I decided to have an ophthalmologist check it out and through a Google and yelp search found Dr. Silverman- it turns out Dr. Silverman is an optometrist not an ophthalmologist. I make an appointment anyway and 15 minutes later one of the staff calls back and say that I've already had an eye check this year so my insurance wouldn't cover it--- I explain- again - that it wasn't for an annual check but because something was in my eye---- so she checks it out and calls back to set an appointment. I show up promptly, get taken back and get a basic intake work up by an assistant and the Dr. comes in and I tell him why I was there and he says he was going to dilate my eyes--I say 'No, I'll have no way to get home, no one told me I'd be dilated. The Dr. I think decided he didn't like me- actually questioning and disagreeing, got kind of insistent and said I'd better have it done or I could go blind---- so I drove-- an hour - home and 2 days later got someone to drive out with me and it turns out it was not a detachment of the retina, just a normal piece of debris that often causes these- called floaters- basically from how the eye is formed and quite common. I really, really didn't like the guy or how I was treated-- like when he put in the eye drops he shoves his fingers into my eye socket and pushes very hard and I ask him to take it easy, be a little more gentle-- which I think pissed him off even more. I have been a patient at Dr. Silverman's office for well over two decades. His support staff (both front and back office) are always friendly and helpful. Having a great support staff is nice, but is not why I highly recommend Clearview Eye Center. Finding a means to correct my vision has been a challenge for every eye care professional I've seen since I had RK surgery (a forerunner to LASIK) performed on my eyes back in the early 80's. My corneas are as smooth as a raisin (very irregularly shaped) due to refractive surgery, and my vision fluctuates a great deal over the course of a day as my eyes become fatigued. Dr. Silverman has always been patient and willing to go the extra mile to try and find a solution which will work for me. His office utilizes a number of computer assisted vision testing tools to check for visual acuity; field-of-vision; and several other vision and health related concerns. Glasses are only a time-specific solution for me, due to my variable vision throughout the day. In efforts to find a contact lens which would fit my irregularly shaped corneas (my best option), we've tried soft lenses; hard lenses; piggy-backing a hard lens over a soft lens; custom fit lenses; and several varieties of scleral lenses. When Dr. Silverman did not offer services which he believed were beneficial to me, he directed me to other vision care professionals (who does that these days?). Dr. Silverman's dedication to finding a solution for me is why I continue to drive 90 minutes one-way after moving out of the AV over 10 years ago. If all that wasn't enough, Dr. Silverman has discovered issues the ophthalmologist I see every 6 months has not related to me. For anyone who believes they are a hard-luck case when it comes to vision correction, this is the office to visit. For everyone else, giving this office a try is a no-brainer. read more

With a history of six eye surgeries, including RK, cataracts, and DSAEK, I have very irregular corneas and am very difficult to fit for contact lenses. I tried several types of contact lenses prescribed by other optometrists, with limited success. Dr. Silverman performed a very thorough eye examination and prescribed semi-scleral lenses that provide excellent correction and a very comfortable fit. I have been Dr. Silverman's patient for several years and am very satisfied with his service.
