Oz employed a convicted violent sexual offender to unload our items, and refused to remove him from our home, despite several hours of our asking them to do so.
We used Oz several times previously, and had been happy enough with the results.
We just had Oz move us from Brooklyn to the Nashville area. Our previous contact Peter Buntzen passed us off to another estimator, Etai Aviel, which should have been a red flag.
Move out was ok, though the team was clearly miserable and overworked, not allowed time for lunch, and their poorly-maintained truck battery died.
The move-in was where the real trouble happened. There were three workers deployed to unload. The driver, who was nominally the job lead, spoke no English, and promptly went into the cab of the truck and went to sleep once the other two guys started working.
One of the guys unloading let me know that Zarian Brent, the other man unloading, was a local criminal, known to take on moving jobs and steal things. I quickly looked up his info, and found that he'd been convicted of aggravated sexual battery and weapons possession, and had done jail time. See attached photos.
Both my wife and I called, emailed, and texted every contact we had at Oz to get Zarian out of our house. They ignored us for quite some time, and when we finally reached them, they refused.
Following the jobs completion, we had extensive back-and-forth with Peter Buntzen and Nancy Zafrani, a general manager with the company. Nancy offered us $1,000 dollars as restitution (move cost over $10k with tips), and wanted us to sign a very restrictive non-disclosure agreement which pretty much guaranteed they would turn right back around and sue us for defamation, as I'd already shared our experience with our realtor and lawyer.
Shameful, and very disappointing. Avoid Oz at all costs. They're not the company they once were. read more
