    Inside dining

I came here for lunch with a co-worker and the place was deserted. There was only 1 other party. However, I heard this place is hopping in the evenings. Inside the decor is very colorful and lively. I was happy to see that they have a lunch specials menu, so I'm not overwhelmed by too many choices. Most of the items are "jerk" and they have a few vegetarian options too. I never know what to expect when I see "jerk" flavoring, but I expect some heat, which was missing from the items we ordered. The food was well seasoned, but lacked any heat. Pulled jerk chicken sandwich - this was a tower. It was small like a slider but very tall and packed with lots of chicken. It was very tasty, and I especially liked the plantain chips. The little side salad was nice too. It could use some heat, but still very tasty.

Had a great first time tonight! We ordered the tomato salad, pork shoulder, island salmon, a half portion side of the plaited bread with the amazing butter and the bread pudding for dessert. Everything was immaculate. We sat outside on a nice Saturday night and service was great! They were very attentive and checked on us often. We were also seated very quickly as they have plenty of seating. We also didn't have trouble with parking. Will definitely be back to try out more on the menu.

Street food 4/5: soft bread, succulent chicken, ample cucumber, flavorful chickpea sauce Bbq oyster 3/5: light barbecue sauce that was sweet and tangy, light kick, although felt too pricey Paella oyo 5/5: good portion, bouncy shrimp, scrumptious sausage and chicken, peas balanced the meal, rice cooked perfectly Brasied short rib 5/5: extremely tender, amazing, everything you would want from a braised short rib Hot sauce 5/5: spicy yet added brightness to each dish Service 5/5: impeccable, water was always filled, servers answered questions with detail Ambience 5/5: lively music that wasn't overtly loud, clean & well kept, table settings were thoughtful and felt homey

My husband and I went to Oyo on Valentine's Day. Excellent service. Excellent food - except for the BBQ oysters. My husband did not like this dish. The oysters were drowned in sauce. The oxtail stew and Oyo Paella were very flavorful and the portions were enough for 2-3 people. I am very thankful they were able to remove the peas and pork from the paella for me. We'll come back to try out their regular menu.

I only took one photo!!! lol I highly recommend making a reservation,; outdoor seating is limited but If you time it during off hours you should not have a problem. I prefer outdoors on a sunny day, but it is noisy with traffic. Also, they are pet friendly on the patio!! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. I had a mojito, it was strong!!!! Yet yummy. They're very friendly, a friend wanted the jerk tacos, not on their evening menu but the server was happy to accommodate. Their oxtail stew also looks delicious, if you like that... I went with the paella Oyo, I really recommend it because you get all the things... surf, turf and sausage with just the perfect crisp of rice at the crust.

Oh my god. I came here for brunch and have already made plans to go back again for dinner. ITS JUST THAT GOOD We came here with a group of 9 on a Saturday afternoon and immediately got seated. Service is sooo nice! We came here for the unlimited mimosas which were super yummy and also came with a variety of choices for the juices. They had guava, strawberry, mango, and fresh squeezed orange juice! For food, we got the brunch pancakes and omelette to share! Both were 10/10!! The pancakes had a bruleed marshmallow on top of it that was to die for while the pork belly on the omelette was one of the most flavorful and softest pork bellies I've ever had! Definitely recommend!!

Great healthy option in downtown! Not busy during weekday dinner, service was quick. Interior decoration represents the food well. Can't go wrong any of the plantain dishes. I really enjoyed the pork maduro (tapa $9, entree $19) which was a giant plantain with bell peppers, garlic, and cream. The prices justify the portion size and tastes. The pork shoulder ($26) was a solid option for protein and veggies. Mojo sauce, I think it's chimmichuri was fresh and herby which compliments well with the pork. Plantain added the sweetness to the dish. Braided short rib was good, has some char, but it is a heavy dish, so maybe it needs something like veggies to go with it.

Island Salmon- yum and plantains too!

Saturday late afternoon lunch was great. All the dishes were delicious. Victoria, our waitress, was wonderful and had great recommendations. Cool yet warm decor. Street Parking was easy.

It's not easy to find a South American restaurant with vegan options yet alone one that is so delicious. Their menu has clearly marked vegan options and they even have a vegan paella. The food is delicious, perfectly spiced and cooked and service is fast and friendly. The downtown location with the large patio is perfect in any season.

I liked my food even more the second time! I got the braised short rib for an entree and Oyo Caipirinha for a drink. The meat was so tender and tasted great!!! And the bread was really great texturally and tasted good both by itself and dipped in the sauce. The drink was really good too. Not too strong but still had some sweetness to it. The service was really good, they were fast and very friendly. It was a little loud inside but it was manageable. I really enjoyed my dinner here!

We arrived Mother's Day afternoon and got a table right away. The mocktail I had was delicious. The food was very tasty and piping hot. The staff were attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back.

The best south American/Caribbean cuisine i've had so far! If you had better please send me your recommendations in the bay area! The drinks were so delicious that I forgot to take a picture but i had the passionfruit Caipirinha oyo from the Jive bar & I would return alone for that! Everything we ordered was a 10/10 the only complaint that I have is that we didn't order enough. Peas & rice are my new found favorite and inspired to make that and that oxtail stew on my own! Kisses to the chef! The atmosphere inside alone transcends you to a village where the food is inspired, the paintings, furniture and staff all bring in the vibe of the food which made everything perfectly tied together. If you have never tried Oyo please go and take your fav foodie to enjoy with I promise you will have an amazing time.

It's been a long time since I revisited Oyo and the food was as amazing as the first time. Sunday afternoon was a relatively slow time. We were seated in the patio, with beautiful weather and hanging plants. My only slight qualm would be the extremely low rattan chairs, making it awkward to eat and a bit uncomfortable. Jerk shrimp - juicy and plump shrimp cooked in garlicky and jerk seasoning olive oil. One bun was not enough to soak up all the heavenly goodness. We ordered 3 more. Calamari - lightly battered calamari, not overly oily, a good appy albeit nothing special Pepper pot short rib - smoky, thick umami sauce (almost like mole) coats every bite of tender short rib, absolutely would recommend if you're a meat lover wanting a punch to your palette Guyanese cook up rice - stunning visual when your rice is served in a pyramid shape. A plentiful and flavorful blend of brisket, chicken and oxtail and veggies. Feels like home cooking. Caramelizes plaintains brought the dish a hint of sweetness

Dairy allergy here. Does the ox tail stew or paella have butter or milk in it?

You should always ask the waiter before consuming. From my experience they sometimes add milk or dairy cream. If you don't get an answer then I suggest you pass.

Do they serve lunch at 12? Or just breakfast?

Yes as my wife and friends had lunch there a month ago. We had reservations at 11:30am and were seated promptly. Don't believe there were any breakfast items on the menu, so I assume they serve only lunch and dinner.

Hi, 1. can you accommodate a large group for dinner? upto 10 people. 2. what is the corkage fee?…

Yes they can definitely do a group of 10.

Does Oyo charge if I bring my own birthday cake?

As long as you save Maurice a slice of cake no problem! The owner has a sweet tooth! ;o)

What is the pork sausage in the Oyo paella? Is it sweet, spicy? What is the actual sausage used?

For Sunday brunch, are you limited to only order from the brunch menu, or can you also order from the lunch menu as well?

You can also order from the lunch menu.

Do you have a corkage fee / allow outside wine?

How many people does each paella feed? Which is the best one to order?

Depends on how much each person eats and what size you get, the regular can feed two people conservatively.

Do you have outdoor dining for 5 people?

We were a party of 4 at a table that could seat 6 people.. so unless they changed since then the answer would be yes

Is the patio dog friendly? Also, is there a happy hour menu?

    yes, yes.

Do they have menu option for little kids?

It did not appear so but wouldn't hurt to ask.

We have a person with celiac so just wondered if your chef understands what that means. Many restaurants say GF but then cook things in a pan that just had flour etc in it. We'd like to come tomorrow. Can you help me?

Absolutely! The Chef understands cross contamenation and proper food handling techniques, and would be more than happy to accommodate you. Please communicate your needs with your server when you come. We look forward to serving you!

Anything gluten free on the menu?

Yes! They have full entree gluten free options, not just the side type dishes many other places have. Their menu is marked denoting all the gluten free options.

Any no onion no garlic vegetarian options?

Just called the restaurant and they can do chana and tropical salad without dressing

I came here for lunch just as they opened and was seated immediately. You scan a QR code on the table for the menu, which was overwhelming. We chose from their Lunch specials: + Nigiri lunch - you get 6 nigiris and several maki rolls (chef's choice). All were so fresh and delicious, and beautifully presented. + Chirashi Don - freshly cut fish, roe, and a few veggies over perfectly cooked sushi rice. + Soup & Salad - this came with our lunches. The miso soup was very good and not salty like most. The salad had a vinaigrette dressing with an herb I can't put my finger on. It was very refreshing. The lunches were in the $30 range, which is a bit steep. I'd definitely come back here for celebrations.

When making the reservation, I specifically noted that this was a birthday celebration and selected covered outdoor patio seating through the reservation system. When we arrived on time, we were told there were no tables available in the area your reservation platform had offered us. To make matters worse, after a staff member asked us which available table we preferred, we pointed one out, only for another waiter to immediately give that exact table away to a smaller party while we stood there as a party of six. That set the tone for the evening. Service throughout the night lacked professionalism and hospitality. One male waiter, approximately in his 40s with slicked-back hair, was consistently rude, dismissive, sharp in tone, and visibly uninterested in helping our table. His behavior affected our entire party and made us feel unwelcome. Management should seriously address his service etiquette and overall conduct toward guests. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of acknowledgment of my wife's birthday. Throughout dinner, we watched several other tables celebrating birthdays receive desserts and recognition from staff, while our table received absolutely nothing despite the restaurant being informed ahead of time. At the end of dinner, we were simply handed the bill with no acknowledgment whatsoever. My wife even turned to me and asked, 'What about my birthday?' and honestly I had no answer for her. The evening felt careless, disorganized, and poorly managed. We did not receive the seating we reserved, experienced rude service, and the special occasion we communicated in advance was completely ignored. Overall, it was a poor dining experience and not somewhere I would currently recommend."

Here are the things we got: Appetizers - Parm crusted cauliflower: so good, nice and crunchy but not too heavily breaded. The chipotle mayo was delish - Chicharrones: so light and crispy! They were hot out of the fryer. It had a side of a corn cheese dip that was so good and made it more unique of a dish -- must try if you even kind of eat chicharrones. I don't generally like pork skin but I enjoyed it regardless. - Hamachi ceviche: this is a large sharing portion with chunks of hamachi and avocado. Good but not a must have. Entrees - Enchiladas: very cheesy and overall a good dish but I would skip this. - Shrimp tostadas: large size shrimp and it just comes with two tostadas so I don't think it was worth the price - Barramundi fillet: The fish was tender and juicy. I liked the marinades that came with it. I liked this dish with the rice because it made me feel homey. Good portion of fish. - Agua Chile Ribeye: This is a must have! The ribeye is sous vide so it was soo tender and juicy. The broth was really nice to keep everything moist and flavorful.
