This review is for the Paramount location. I got a few items: Dino rib, pork ribs, brisket, sausage, mac and cheese and corn bread. I'll start with the positives. The mac and cheese and corn bread were decent. Also they took 15 minutes to give me all the varied food I ordered which should have been my red flag to run, but I decided to live dangerously and was punished severely for it. Now on to the travesty, the meat. The theme for today was dry, old and shameless. The pork was somehow undercooked and dry. Which if you can endure the cruelty, is actually kind of impressive. The brisket resembled beef jerky. I'm including pictures of the brisket since those speak much more eloquently than I can. I love to cook and I infamously over season my dishes. But all these meats were at a whole another level. Not salty but aggressively peppery and just ham handed. The rub was flavorful but it blew out my palette instantly. Please take this to heart: less is more. In terms of meat quality? Cheap. My Dad is a butcher, I can tell. Everything being reheated did the meat quality no favors either. The seasoning was further exacerbated because the ribs, both dino and pork, were almost entirely bone. So you have a ton of seasoning on a lick of meat. It was a recipe for disaster. And price? Expensive, especially for what I received. Insulting for what I received. I'll end it here. I don't want to waste your time like this place wasted mine.

It was rich, flavorful, and actually tasted homemade. The BBQ was impressive, smoky, tender, and seasoned just right. I really enjoyed it. The chicken was juicy and full of flavor. Good BBQ is hard to find in LA, but this spot gives you that "Dad or your uncle in the backyard on the grill" kind of vibe. Real, comforting, home-style food. Stop by and support a brother!

They were out of Mac and cheese so I thought I would get Mac and cheese from Johnson's on my way home. I called them to ask if they took online orders and explained to the guy who answered that I had an electronic debit card as to explain why I asked . He said yes I could order online or over the phone . In the interim he gave the phone to some woman who kept me on hold so long that by the time she got back on the phone I had already ordered online. She confirmed my order but after hanging up I noticed the online app they use predicted a ridiculous amount of time to prepare the order (45 minutes). I was only 5 minutes away but stationary. So I called back and asked the lady how long it would take she said 15 minutes, I gave them 20 . When I got there and explained that I ordered online. Not only did I learn that the order wasn't ready but the guy at the window had the audacity to say if I had placed a phone order it would have been 15 minutes but otherwise they go by the app's time. And what his staff person told me when I called "was In error". How stupid is that? The whole premise of fast food is that it's fast. Secondly, you are willing to put online customers on the back burner based on an apps time and not real time? I looked at this man as if to say'Is that your final answer?" I don't see a line out here? Bruh it's your business, stand on it, I'm going to be about mine's. I had ordered extra food to support Black business, because remember I already had a plate in the car from Robert Earls. I pulled off and left without the food and didn't look back. Its bought sense for me. Buyer BEWARE.

I came here with the fam on a busy Sunday afternoon. They unfortunately ran out of a couple menu items, including the ube bibinka which I really wanted to try. If you're craving for something specific, it's best to call ahead. Judging from packed meals I saw in their back counter, that's what a lot of locals and regulars probably do. Though there's seating inside, all orders are packed in to-go foam boxes. I'm a bit environmentally conscious so I hope they change this for dine-in customers. Use simple plates, trays, and utensils that you can easily clean in a dishwasher. My favorite items I would order again are the lomi, beef ribs, and fried tuna collard greens. My least favorite was the pork bbq. It was chewy. They should use a more tender part of the meat The java rice that comes with all combos was tasty; however when I eat something saucy bbq, I prefer plain white rice to balance out the thick sweet flavors. I wish they had this as an option (or maybe they do but I wasn't asked). I can't be mad though because the staff (possibly owners) are really nice and patient.
