The barisas were friendly. The place was busy. It was too loud for conversation so we took our orders to go. Mr G got his usual double shot of espresso. His verdict was ah it's OK. A little bitter. I got an iced latte. The pastries were all wrapped for individual portions. We did not get them heated. The blueberry coffee cake was delightful, and so was the butter crossant. I would go back.

I recently visited this new coffee shop in Lee's Summit and I must admit that although customer service was very attentive and there was nothing wrong with my order, nothing made this place stand out. The $3 regular drip coffee was disappointing. It was very weak, and it reminded me a bit of Folgers coffee. I mean if you aren't a coffee connoisseur then it will probably be fine for you. The apple turnover pastry was good, but for it's size was not $4 good. I did ask for it to be warmed up, and unfortunately, the barista heated it a bit too much. I don't hold this against them because they just will have to tweak the heating time for pastries. The menu does, however, offer some interesting pastries with unique names. As far as the coffee shop area, it is small. There aren't many places to sit, and the only place to sit with a laptop and work is a bar stool area up against the wall, near the entrance. It seems to be the only place where you can plug in. The coffee shop's theme is nautical, which may be inspired by the nearby lake. The music is on a 70s repeat, and at one point I anticipated hearing the song "Sailing" by Christopher Cross. This coffee shop may be most ideal for nearby Lakewood people who want a place to meet and chat.

The owner is super friendly and easy to work with. I booked this place for a bridal shower and she's even helping provide food and pastries! We tried the caramel coconut latte today and it was PHENOMENAL! My grandma says it's the best coffee she's ever had, and she can be very picky! Very chill and calm, would be a great study spot after school or a place to catch up on work or catch up with friends! Highly suggest supporting this adorable little business, we need more good coffee in LS!

I just saw that we FINALLY have a coffee shop near my house. Since I was off today I decided to try it. This cute little beach themed cafe will have you falling in love. The staff is nice and the store is clean. My latte was delicious and I definitely will be back tomorrow to post a follow up review. They also have a full case of bakery goods for any food needs you may have. I'm going to look forward to spending my money here again. Of course they do offer curbside pick up!

Fun inside seating. Normal tables available yoo

I don't want to drink any other coffee but really, really good craft coffee. If I drink anything else (from a fast food place, or Starbucks, or a Keurig), I will only do so if it's the only option and only if there is heavy whipping cream available. Scout Coffee is my saving grace while I am in Blue Springs. Their coffee is excellent, as good as some big dogs (like Onyx Coffee, Black and White, Intelligentsia, or Counter Culture). Great flavors. Great pour over options. Wonderful seasonal drinks that are not too sweet (although I wish they used better syrup, like Pink House Alchemy). They also serve some bakery items (limited) that are very good! I love their cinnamon sugar posh tart. The atmosphere of the shop is eclectic but comfy. Weird decorations, but it works. In the warmer days, the front porch is a great place to sit and visit with friends, or read a good book. They have good merch options and sell their coffee by both the bag and the bucket. All in all: excellent coffee. Worth the drive if you are 20-30mins nearby in KC. Oh, and the service is excellent! So friendly. So helpful.

Food - we ordered a sausage burrito, which was very delicious. They definitely give you a lot of meat, which is nice since that's what you're paying for. It had stained preformed plastic seats, a terrible smell of industrial ammonia with terrible brews with awful day olds. Nowadays, coffee shops have as much sophistication as fancy restaurants. Gusto is one of those spots. It is very spacious, with seating for several dozen people and even has a outdoor seating area that overlooks a very nice field. It has a nice fireplace as well as little nooks and crannies for you to sit in. I give it top grades for store designer. They did a great job. The coffee itself is very good. As someone who is trying to drink coffee black, I have only found a few places were I could do it. However, while the coffee was good enough to drink on it's own, the brew itself was mild and inoffensive, even though I drank the bold Brazillian. The snack I had was called a scone, but it wasn't. It has the taste of a cookie, or those "cookie pizzas" that you see at bake sales. However, no matter, it was good. The one thing secret that you might want to try out is that on Weekdays, coffees are only $0.99 after noon, so my bill for both only came out to $3.09 tax included! I would suggest this place if you aren't too discerning about the brew and just want to get a good cup of coffee. It is worth coming to.

It's been three consecutive times that I've came and the brew has been on the disappointing week side. If I got something else like a chai, it's been a little on the lackluster side too. They used to have some awesome baristas, and I haven't seen this one barista who made sure things ran smoothly. Yesterday, I noticed customer service really lacking. When I arrived at 11:30 AM the three baristas were all up front and had been attentive, but around 1 PM they had all drifted in back and none would pop their head out to see if anyone had come to the counter. I had stood at the counter for five minutes or so, and had thought I had made eye contact with one girl, but apparently she must have not seen me. I even said "hello" out loud, but nothing. A minute or two later a lady came in and was waiting behind me, and after a minute or two she asked if I had been waiting long. I told her the truth, and eventually a barista came out and asked me if I had been waiting long? I explained that I had, and had tried to catch someone's attention. I ordered an iced matcha and the lady behind me ordered some other drink. Guess who's came out first? I waited a few more minutes and noticed the another barista (a guy) had just started making an iced match, which apparently was my drink. Where were the girls? In the back, chatting away and giggling. I guess neither of them knew how to make an iced matcha.

It's a pretty downtown location. The decor is cozy and nicely decked out for Christmas. - chairs. They spent a little extra on padded leather to save our butts. - service. They're quick and polite. - cleanliness. Now for the less good: - layout. Everything feels tight. It's prettier than it is practical. - drink quality. My daughter found her spiced chai (pictured) overly sweet. And if you look at the pic, you'll notice that they gave her basically 2/3 of a cup. That pic was taken before she took a single sip (yes, I know the straw I used to show the amount looks used; I did use it to search for a tea bag in my tea fog. See below!). My cinnamon/butterscotch tea fog was, to put it politely, unimpressive. I left it steeping at least 15 minutes because it was way too hot to drink. And then I had to get a straw to search for tea bags, because it tasted like hot foamy water and I was convinced they'd forgotten to put the tea bags in. Well, they hadn't. There was one tea bag. My standard of comparison is Gusto over by Longview, which makes the best tea fogs in town. They use two tea bags and it tastes like heaven. Whatever they served me at Whistle Stop tasted like perfumed water. So overall, I give it a 3/5. Points for location and decor and nice chairs. But the main attraction should be the drinks, and they were both kinda terrible. And there's just no excuse for serving someone 2/3 of a cup when we're paying $6 for a small drink.
