I went with a few work friends for dinner at Otto's last night and it turned out to be be the perfect spot. Located just over the bridge from downtown Cincinnati, this cool spot was right on mainstrassa with parking on the street and two public garages a few steps away. The building was old Covington and dressed to be Bo Ho modern. Really cool interior with colorful decor. We had a reservation that we expanded on the spot, they were very accommodating. We enjoyed some yummy drinks along with appetizers of fried green tomato's and a Buratta cheese plate with bread - both were excellent. I settled on a main course of shrimp and grits - a fan favorite and recently added back to the menu. The table overall had a variety of plates and everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We finished the night sharing a bread pudding and whipped cheesecake and coffee. An overall exceptional experience highlighted by super service and delicious food. read more

The dining room is beautifully decorated in the manner of a "time gone by" from the beautiful woodwork to the adorning chandeliers. The menu is more selective, but delicious. It was a treat for us, the out of town guests who enjoyed a cup of tomato dill soup and a side of Goetta (ground meat and oats) served with the B.L.F.G.T. This was a diamond that we found for the first time today. Fun atmosphere with a lively seating area. Very tight but the staff did an amazing job keeping everything flowing in a pleasant way. We went here Saturday for brunch. We had a large group of 12 and a reservation for 10 am when they opened. Let's just say getting us all grouped together hadn't been coordinated when we arrived. As part of the first four there when they opened, we were seated and then had to move. I think this could have been planned better. I ordered the Jalapeño and Garlic Bloody Mary. It was delicious. For brunch I had the Lox and Bagel with Tomato Dill Soup. The bagel, lox, cream cheese, capers, onion, dill, cucumber and hard boiled egg were absolutely delicious and the plate was beautiful. The soup was sweet. Somehow each spoonful that included a crouton was quite tasty, but there were only three croutons. I thought the soup was good, but again... it was sweet, which was unexpected. The decor was eclectic and comfortable. They have windows that open to let the outside in, but they only opened the side opposite where we sat. Still, it's a great option for days like this (it was a beautiful 75 degrees!) and reminded me of being back in the Bay Area. Even though there were a few misses, overall the experience and the food were great. I'd definitely come back. read more

Otto's is a go to place right in Mainstrasse (Covington, KY). We have been coming here for a few years now since it's my Mothers favorite place. The food is traditionally pretty consistent. The menu can be limited and not a ton of options to choose from, but that makes what they have that much better. I highly recommend reservations here as it is very small and cozy inside. They do have a bar with open seating though as well. Parking can be tricky in Mainstrasse, so make sure and give yourself a little extra time. They have free street parking or a garage that is extremely close to Otto's. We came in this past weekend and had a table of 6 of us. The table was ready right at our reservation time. The service was extremely friendly, quick and efficient. We had plenty of drinks from the bar and a few appetizers for the table to share. I had the Halibut with Risotto and this has to be one of my favorite entrées they have. The Halibut is cooked absolutely perfect every time. The Risotto is not too crunchy and very creamy. You can't go wrong with any of the menu options and the cocktails are delicious as well! Very easy to make a date night here with so many other bars within walking distance after dinner. read more

Stopped in for lunch on our way south for a get away. When I looked at the reviews I had decided to try the tomato pie. When we were seated the waitress told us the special and I was hooked. Artichoke bacon grilled cheese and it was awesome! High quality bacon and large pieces of artichoke. I very much enjoyed the butternut soup so sweet and spicy all at the same time. The cinnamon garnish on it was a pleasant surprise as well. My better half had the short rib sandwich and fry's. We both said it was a DIA. Next time maybe I will try the tomato pie. Had a reservation days in advance but didn't have a set server so we barely got attended to as it was just a random rotation of staff. It's a super small spot so it was frustrating watching other tables less than a foot away get helped multiple times before we even got water because our group of servers were standing around the bar talking.
