We're so glad to have gotten a table, because this place is popular! We looked at the Yelp comments and got their Cajun Chicken sandwich. The sandwich and fries (each of which we split) were delicious, and plenty for the two of us. Service was great, and all staff seem fully invested in this place. They even hand make their ice cream sandwiches (made with chocolate chip cookies..)! And be sure to check out the artwork in the restroom..

This place is a gem. Super friendly staff, most delicious breakfast burritos and sweet potato fries ever, funniest stickers on the water dispenser. Just a great vibe with fresh, delicious food. Pork quesadillas and vegan burritos also winners.

Stopped in here because of the Yelp reviews. It was a good choice! It was super busy which meant that we had to wait a little longer for our food- 15-20 min. The guy behind the counter made sure to let folks know about the wait. Service was very friendly. Our sandwiches were delicious. We got the special and the original chicken sandwiches. Probably liked the special the best. There is only 1 restroom at this place and it was out at back of the building. Considering how busy it was there was a fairly long wait to use bathroom. That was a the one bummer about this place.

Outstanding chicken sandwiches in the mountains, dubbed America's highest fried chicken. I was on a men's trip and we were staying near Fairplay. We stopped here twice. Both times I ordered their Original Chicken sandwich. Each time we visited, it was busy. Limited parking, a line, sparse seating. The staff was friendly and attentive, personable and calm under pressure. The orders kept coming and they kept steady hands on the fryers pumping out consistently good food. This chicken sandwich was the best I've had. Large, all white meat, quality chicken. It was perfectly fried with a thinner breading. It didn't over power the meat but complemented it. The only topping this sandwich needs is pickles. They were thicker than normal, fresh, crunchy and juicy. The honey butter and fresh toasted bun rounded it all out. The side of fries were good too, crunchy and flavorful. If you're near Fairplay and looking for a good meal, go here. I'd go back.

Went here to try their fried chicken sandwich and the reviews are well deserved. The colossal Cajun fried chicken was giant, perfectly crispy and had a great sauce and soft bun. Can seem pricy for $17.95 without fries but like I said is massive. The service was fast and friendly. You order at a counter but there's seating inside including high chairs, booster seats and colouring for kids

Fairplay can be such an unassuming drive through town, but I promise this place is worth the stop. Jam packed of delicious sandwiches, lots of options including vegan choices, there is without a doubt something for everyone. We took recommendations from the worker and landed ourselves with a basket of Cajun fries, the Otto's special chicken sandwich and the cheesesteak plus a large selection of dipping sauces for the fries. Everything was incredible, great portions and flavor, truly not a negative to remark about. Staff was friendly and attentive, vibe easy going, walk up and order and pick a seat, plus outdoor patio space. Will certainly be back

Spectacular sandwiches at 9500 ft in the Rockies! We were staying near Fairplay for a few weeks this summer/fall and had seen Otto's but never actually stopped there. This time, we made plans to have one dinner there and it was absolutely worth it. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, all the way with their serrano slaw and blue cheese dressing and my wife had the Classic. The chicken is absolutely that - a fried whole chicken breast - no marinade, no special flavors - just chicken. No surprises, no "weird" tastes - and the menu is diverse enough that you can find something to match your tastes and appetite, from basic to "everything," as our order shows. There's no skimping on the toppings or flavors. The sweet potato fries were a very nice surprise - they were thicker cut vs. the thing, shoestring types you so often get elsewhere. They had a crisp outside, soft inside and kept their heat well. The hashbrown - both a side and a topping - was perfectly crisp. Now it's someplace that when we're back to Fairplay we'll probably hit again, especially to try to he breakfast burritos others rave about.

5 stars for their bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit sandwich! We popped into Fairplay for a quick breakfast while staying in a nearby town and I'm so glad we stopped at Otto's. It's an order-at-the-counter type of place with several tables to dine at and the people working there were very friendly. Their breakfast biscuit sandwich was one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had. The biscuit was super flavorful and moist, didn't crumble apart when biting into it, and was perfectly stuffed with gooey cheddar cheese, fried egg, and crispy bacon. I don't believe it's on their main menu, but for $8 it was such a nice surprise. A place I'd come back to again and again.

If you're heading to the mountains for the weekend or planning a camping trip, make sure to stop by and grab breakfast or lunch here! Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but they use premium-quality ingredients that really set them apart. The bread on their sandwiches is fantastic, and they've recently started using beef tallow for their French fries, chicken sandwiches, and wings which takes the flavor to another level. They also offer gluten-free options, making it a great choice for everyone. It's a smaller establishment, so be patient if there's a wait it's 100% worth it. The customer service is beyond what I've experienced at some high-end restaurants. While waiting for my food, I got to witness the teamwork and communication between the kitchen staff and front counter crew. These guys were hustling, working efficiently, and clearly taking pride in what they do. It was genuinely impressive to watch. Whether you're stopping in with friends and family or grabbing a meal solo, the atmosphere is welcoming, the music is great, and the overall vibe is positive and upbeat. Do yourself a favor and stop by, you can thank me later! And whatever you do, don't leave without trying one of their homemade ice cream sandwiches!

Amazing food! We shared the boneless bites, a SIDE (huge) of Cajun fries, and a special sandwich. It was all amazing. Forget about ketchup and just order a couple extra sides of the best ranch you'll ever eat. Staff was friendly and our pup enjoyed being able to hang with us on the patio as we ate. Amazing the owner's wife has celiac so almost entire menu is gluten free. Separate fryers, very knowledgeable about Gluten free and cross contamination. Decent food. Not the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, but definitely good. However, most definitely NOT worth $30 a person. For what this place is, it extremely over priced. Friendly service. Small dining room (seats about 20) but does have outdoor eating areas. Music was obnoxious and played too loudly. If it didn't cost so much, I would definitely go back and try other items. But I can't justify $30 for a quick lunch just for myself. read more

Okay this is THE CLASSIC roadside restaurant that you gotta stop at if you're passing through. I got the Mountain Cristo without the sausage and let me tell you it was AMAZING. sweet, spicy, and savory all in one. I've never seen blueberries on an egg sandwich before but hey it worked. Best chicken sandwich of my life!! Incredibly crispy, juicy and flavorful!! We got the original, the hot honey, and the special sandwiches along with a basket of fries and our group had only crumbs left. Fries were very crispy and fresh too! The workers were so friendly and restaurant was clean! Come here if you want good fried chicken!! I'll be driving from Colorado Springs to come back here just to eat this again! 10/10 read more

This is a little gem in a small Colorado town! The building is small but has lots of character. Everything is clean and the smell of chicken coming out of the kitchen is amazing. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. There are multiple options for type of chicken sandwiches and the staff explained the menu to help us decide on our meal. My BF and I both had 2 different chicken sandwiches. I had the Cajun chicken sandwich. It's served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. My BF had the hot honey chicken sandwich. It's served with toasted brioche bun with handmade coleslaw and your choice of blue cheese or ranch. Both sandwiches were perfectly breaded and fried. The chicken is tender and moist. The toppings are fresh and the sandwich melted in my mouth! This is an amazing chicken sandwich! The fries with the Cajun seasoning are fire and well cooked. We would give Otto's a 4.8 stars for food and quality. The only thing that would have made it better was the price. We paid almost paid $50 for 2 sandwiches and a basket of fries without drinks. read more

The staff seemed to enjoy being there and were all laughing. The guy that took our order was friendly and let us make small changes (I'm a picky eater!). Finally tried for myself after hearing many good things since they opened their food cart in Alma several years ago. Very impressed! Chicken sand. and Hot Strami were on point. Delicious, high quality sandwiches. Also the cheesy bacon cowgirl fries are a must. Tasty and massive:) Gonna go back soon for the Philly and a breakfast item, which I hear are very good as well. Yeah it's on the high end of this type of food but from what I've seen so far, it's worth it. Clean place and friendly employees doesn't hurt either:) read more

This is the 2nd time we've stopped at Otto's when driving through Fairplay and had to write a review. The food is fabulous!!! Just a sandwich shop but has breakfast and lunch. I had the Cubano and it is delicious. The bread was crunch, pork tender and the pickles tasted homemade. Got regular fries which are super fresh and a side of ranch (all their sauces are made in house). The friendly staff and 70's jams playing topped off the amazing lunch! read more

Disappointed doesn't even encompass it. Picture this: your husband promises you breakfast at your favorite local diner as you head out of town, he realizes an hour into the drive that THE diner is not in this direction and we must reassess our breakfast plans. You're hungry, which makes you indecisive, which makes you annoying. But we rally anyways and choose this small local spot: OTTO's in South Park, CO. You think, South Park is a good show. There must be good food, right? WRONG. First we bought our breakfast Sammie's. They're okay and tasty but nothing to write home about. The reason those little 2 stars are present us because it was 45 DOLLARS FOR THESE TWO SANDWICHES, A BOTTLE OF WATER, AND A COKE. *dies* How in the HECK are you going to price your food that much, give small portions, and no sides, not to mention the servers don't bring it to the table: you go up to the counter. I mean I know inflation is a problem but JEEZ. Thankfully ottos did redeem itself **slightly** with this magnificent Cowboy French fries covered in melted cheese, juicy bacon, sour cream, and siracha aioli. SMACK YO MAMA that was good. Pretty expensive for what you get. About $30 / person and sandwich was pretty unflavored even with the sauce + fries were pretty mushy with the cowgirl style. Theres definitely cheaper options that are better but maybe not in FairPlay read more

we sort of got lost coming down a mountain and ended up in FairPlay. we were all starving and MAN did this place hit the spot! Our 8 year old got the kids breakfast burrito and it got 2 thumbs up. The Colossal chicken sandwich was AMAZING-- the sauce with the pickles (chefs kiss). To top it off, service was very kind. Highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Fairplay :) read more

History

Established in 2019.

We started out as a small Food Cart in Alma, CO above 10,000'. With love from our customers and great support from our community, we quickly grew into one of the best and most delicious food options in the area. As demand for our quality and service grew, and as our family has gotten larger, we were blessed with the opportunity to open a second location in Fairplay, CO in 2022. We are ever evolving as a business and as people, and are extremely grateful to be in service of our communities, while providing ourselves a great work environment with the opportunity to grow.

Meet the Business Owner: Brian B.

Brian, "Otto", grew up in the restaurant industry and worked every position the service industry has to offer at some point. Brian saw a need for a quality food option in the community as he was builidng a home and a life in the mountians. An opportunity presented itself in the form of a food cart, and the story of Otto's began. The menu is a creation filled with food 'Otto' loves to eat, with influences from the south, the mountains, the midwest, and all of Brian's restaurant experience. Over the last few years, Otto's has grown exponentially, and is proud to serve multiple communities and provide leadership, direction, and a wonderful environment to work in for more than 20 employees. Brian has recently become a father, and his passion for food, community, family, positivity and gratitude is higher than ever before.
