A nice surprise, was pulling our fifth wheel and landed here in Alma. Great location to park RV. Walked across the street and went to the saloon. Had special, chicken fried sandwich and friend had Sasquatch sandwich. Waitress was very attentive and friendly to the point of getting some fresh water for our pups. Onion rings were nice and crispy. Both sandwiches were very good. Food came out promptly....Highly recommend if you are driving through and need a quick bite. read more

My husband and I wanted pizza and we were staying in Fairplay during Burrow Days so opted to drive to Alma to get a pizza to go. How can you pass up North America's Highest Elevation Saloon? It was packed and I waited a bit to get noticed due to how busy the wait staff was. Then I was helped by 2 people who were friendly and welcoming. They told me the food wait was in the 45 minute range and I let them know that was fine. I explained that I wanted to order a pizza to go and then I was told those are coming out much faster at 25-30 minutes. She offered to let me order a drink while I waited but I went for a walk instead. When I got back 30 minutes later they were still packed and my order was ready and hot. We took our pepperoni and mushroom pizza back to our Air BnB in Fairplay opened a bottle of wine and had a nice dinner. The restaurant has limited outdoor seating but quite a few tables inside. It's a relaxed yet hopping place. read more

This is a fun place in Alma, Co. the food is pretty good, the pizza looks really good. Decent bar and happy hour. I suggest sitting at the bar if you don't have a large group. The wood bar itself is very pretty, so,it's nice to sit there. The staff is ok. Years ago, this was known as " Alma's only bar", which my brother would frequent when he lived in the area in the 1970s. I recommend giving it a try. read more

Oh my gosh Daniel. You have joined us by sitting down at our table multiple times and hung out with us. We bring friends in there all the time. I am so sorry to hear that you don't value us as customers, and instead value the opinion of the folks drinking at your expense, as free bourbon shots were being distributed like water. We asked your employee if it would make it easier for her for us to sit at the bar, since there were no other customers except for the regulars who occupy the front corner of the bar. She unfortunately ignored us for the first at least 10 minutes while we sat there. We asked for the wifi pass code information, but she did not know it. This was the 3rd attempt to dine there in the past month, but with all the power outages normally open hours have been condensed. I am so disappointed in your response. I am glad your business is so robust , but sad that you feel you can turn away a customer that loves and has been excited to recommend your establishment. I have referred many, many new people coming into the immediate community your way. As this was 1 unfortunate experience out of 50 visits, I simply meant to get your attention to a less than attentive employee (and a drunk regular customer and former employee) and unfortunate food experience (as the topping were missing.) Eat & drink at this saloon; the highest elevation of any US saloon! Rustic Western bar with tons of wood, and cowgirls at the bar. Well-rounded full-bar, but this is not the place to order a fancy mixology cocktail. My whiskey and vodka shots were right in their wheelhouse! We've eaten here a number of times and we absolutely love it. This most recent time we had a group of 9 and Emily was the only server working. She did an amazing job of staying on top of everything despite it being a busy lunch rush. The burgers are delicious. They don't have a ton of vegetarian options, but enough to enjoy a meal out in Alma. Definitely recommend going to the highest saloon in North America. read more

I highly recommend stopping by the South Park Saloon if you find yourself traveling through Alma. The service and food are excellent. I suggest that you try the Reuben, as it's the best one I've had in the whole US. The garlic Parmesan wings are also amazing. Drinks were great. But darn we waited almost hour and 45 min for wings, fries, Poboy that the poop wasn't taken out in deveining process. and onion rings. The table up front was full of flies by us. I would say about 15 flies were on the window seal and mating. Maybe leave the door closed if you have a fly issue. The server was nice and drinks came quickly but unapologetic for the timing of the food. I am a pretty understanding person as I was a server for 13 years. But this experience goes in my books as one of the worst Maybe they were understaffed. Wishing the buisness the best! But today was totally off. read more

That horrible waitress is long gone so figured I should update and give them the credit they deserve. Have been back several times since then and everything was great. Pizza, cheesesteak sando (add the au jus), cheeseburger, fries. Everything on point and reasonably priced for the quality. Mary (the waitress with the long dreads) has been there a long time and is awesome, as are the rest of the staff. Also one of the best spots to have a beer and view big mountains while sitting outside on the patio if the weather is nice. read more

I can't believe I hate an entire burger and fries. I usually only eat half of anything I order but this was just really good. The salt on the burger patty and fries was right on. The vegetables with the burger were fresh and cold. We came back a few days later and had a pizza and a salad. All very good. Love that we could sit outside with the dog. read more

This is oddly a must do when passing through. It's historic, quaint, has fun, witty, and great customer service, and the food is good. Who doesn't want to stop in for a beer and a philly cheese steak at the highest saloon in North America? They are known for their pot pies too. I had the curried vegetable version which was a little spicy and had good flavor. Masala sauce and vegetables. Highly recommend especially after hiking. It's a lot of food. You also may want to grab an order of wings or small pizza to start... okay, we were hungry. Plus, everything was comfort food happiness. Enjoy next time you drive through Alma. read more

We've driven past this Saloon on our way back from snowboarding in Breckenridge more times than i can count and we finally made it a point to stop in. Doesn't look like much on the outside but those are personally my favorite. Fun fact: this is the highest elevation of any saloon in the U.S. I felt a very welcoming vibe as soon as we walked in and wouldn't expect much different with South Park being a small town. We were greeted immediately after finding a seat at the bar that had a couple TVs showing some NFL games. Great beer on tap. Full bar. With a very diverse food menu. And good food at that. Which is hard to expect from the outside. We had their wings (great) and chicken fingers (also great) with a side of some of the best tasting ranch since moving to Colorado. We also ordered a pizza to go after seeing the table next to ours. And from what i heard, they are apparently known for their pot pies. We didn't have the chance to try them this trip but we might have to give that a go next time. If you ask me, this beats making any reservation or waiting in any long lines in Breckenridge. And since we drive through Alma on our way home from the mountains almost every weekend, we will be back to try their other menu items. read more

So first thing: there is no Mexican food here, hasn't been for years. What is here is a cozy bar with most the food fresh made which includes pot pies and pizza. Will it be the best of either that you have ever had? No. Will it be a welcoming, "hits-the-spot" and tasty surprise for a tiny historic mining bar after a long day skiing or camping? Absolutely. Anti-mask establishment. I actually didn't notice the sign on the front door that says they don't enforce regulations regarding masks until I was on my way out. The service was friendly. Food mediocre. The Reuben seemed like the best thing we ordered. The Caesar salad was over-dressed. The calzone was soggy. But it was pretty quick in and out and it had a kid -friendly menu. Our group of 6 stopped by here after a long day on the slopes. We ordered the wings, the Philly cheesesteak, crab cakes, a chicken and a beef pot pie. Buffalo Wings: delicious! So good we almost ordered a second basket because everyone was reaching for the last wing. Philly Cheesesteak: they should call it a French Dip. It's served with Au Jus and is topped with Gruyere cheese. This is everything a philly is not and a French dip is. Still delicious nevertheless!!! Chicken & Beef Pot Pies: both pies tasted similar and were very rich. We enjoyed them but felt so full after a couple bites. I'm not sure we would order again but we would definitely come back for the sandwiches, wings and explore other options on the menu. So next time you're driving home from Breck, forget the long wait in the touristy restaurants and stop here. Definitely worth it! read more

It's funny that South Park Saloon's primary Yelp picture is a salad. Because I ordered a salad and it wasn't so great. Come for the sandwiches and pizza people, not the greens. That being said, the fries and chicken sando that one of my friends ordered (and let me try) were great! That and the crab cake served with my salad. That was good too. Also, the saloon was clean and the service was A-OK. It's a small joint and is accommodating to locals as well as tourists making a pit stop. The fries and wings came out completely cold, soggy, and had a very 'old' taste to them like they had been out for a day or two. The salad came out very basic but, fine, we can deal with that. We then attempted to eat the sub-par food only to find a HAIR not only in the fries but also pasted into the buffalo sauce on the wings as well!!! Totally repulsive... I felt like we were being punked as it was that bad. The place was fairly full and they had one poor server running around like a mad woman. She was doing a fairly good job keeping it together and we felt badly for her. It took 25 mins for our crappy food to come out and overall is was just a disaster. This place was so much better and fun when it was a Mexican restaurant. Not sure if they are under new ownership from when we were last there. It absolutely sucks now. Avoid at all costs. read more
