We stopped here while we were in Fairplay and honestly, this place did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was ridiculously good. The mussels were SO good and the burger was seriously delicious. The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, but the absolute star of the show was the Fairplay fried chicken. Holy shit. That chicken was amazing, and the fermented garlic honey sauce was next-level. Sweet, garlicky, tangy, savory... basically everything I want in a sauce and then some. You know a meal is good when everyone at the table keeps stealing bites of each other's food because nobody wants to miss out. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and actually tasted like someone in the kitchen gives a damn. 10/10 would absolutely eat here again. If you're in Fairplay, stop here and get the damn fried chicken. And whatever you do, don't skip that fermented garlic honey sauce. Staff was outstanding as well read more

My husband and I went to Colorado Cantina to celebrate his Birthday, we are staying in the area and were recommended this local spot. Everything here was amazing starting with incredible food and ending with friendly and very welcoming service! We ordered shishito peppers and queso fundido - we highly recommend these two appetizers! For our mains we had braised short rib with polenta and beef tenderloin - very delicious, incredibly balanced taste. Their chef knows what he is doing! We loved their cocktails and fried cornbread ice cream was very unique and very delicious. The staff in this place is super friendly and nice. Hailey and Joey were amazing and very helpful. We also loved the atmosphere here, the decor is fun and matches the whole theme. We highly recommend Colorado Cantina to anyone who is in the area! Def check it out! read more

Love this place !!! Having it in the middle of a town, this place is for sure a gem. Started off with a couple Michiladas ( happy hour from 3-5) love it Got the cornbread as a starter and omg sooo yummy Then had the fried chicken and , yes yes yes delicious. The only thing I do wish for is if it came with a garnish or a salad or something to complement the dish, is my only critic but job well done !!! The service of the staff there was impeccable and just made you feel at home. And the vibe so was so awesome, it's like stepping in to a small piece of Mexico ... For sure want to come back read more

We stumbled upon their soft public opening and with limited seating we were invited in. We took a place at the bar to review their menus and have some chatter with the staff while they worked out their kinks. (Not many noticed during our visit) They boast a great selection of beverages. From Woodford Reserve Burbon to a delightful 21 Seeds Grapefruit Hibiscus Tequlia. A lovley surprising menu find. You can have a Pre-Selected flight or choose your own. read more

Wonderful new (upscale - but reasonably priced) restaurant in Fairplay. We tried as many things as we could on our first visit. The root vegetable salad is gorgeous and delicious! The roasted corn soup is so good - I want the recipe! They have a tall spicy burger that my husband dove into before I could get a photo of it. I did taste it and it was spicy and delicious. I had the braised short ribs with polenta and mushrooms. We had a bottle of good Tempranillo that went well with everything. Everything was beautifully prepared and tasty! I hope people in the area take advantage of having a nice restaurant in town and not just rely on Breckenridge for a special dining experience. We will be back! read more

We went for lunch. Service was good, and the selection of cocktails is something that they clearly emphasize. The restaurant is pleasant, but the tables are close together (Euro style). We ordered the fried chicken, and it was very overcooked. The coating had been fried at much too high a temperature, resulting in dry chicken and a dark brown (almost mahogany) crust that tasted bitter. This is such a rookie kitchen mistake that I would hesitate to return, because if the kitchen can't handle something as basic as this, I'm not confident that they could do much of anything. I wasn't expecting Michelin star cooking in Fairplay, but any restaurant should be able to make fried chicken. I hope management sees this review and corrects the problem. read more

This restaurant is a lot of fun and a perfect fit for the Fairplay area. The appetizers are great. We've been twice now and have had the shishito peppers, the queso, and the beans and all were top tier, especially the peppers. For entrees we shared the burger and the fried chicken. The burger was great, and the fries chucked was outstanding. It's something we normally would not order but a comment from a great server (Joey) convinced us and wow is it great. The breading is incredibly flavorful. The blackberry margarita is super good as are the other house cocktails. I didn't order a tequila/mescal flight however I am familiar with most of the ones they carry and they are all good lineups. The staff are all very friendly and fun and knowledgeable about the menu. We will for sure take our friends and family when they visit. read more

My husband and I had a great brunch here on March 21. The weather was lovely, so we sat in the courtyard. The service was slow, but please be patient, it is really hard to find workers in FairPlay Colorado. Our server was great and handled all of the tables in the courtyard. I had shrimp and grits that were delicious. And my husband had a fried chicken sandwich and fries. Also delicious. Please give this place a try if you are in the area or even if you are in Breckenridge or Summit County. Looking for a fun place to go. It is a beautiful drive over the continental divide. They are open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10, but they have not updated Yelp or Google to that change. read more

We've given Colorado Cantina a few tries since they opened, hoping each visit might bring some improvement -- but unfortunately, my experience on New Year's Eve confirmed that this place still has a long way to go. The evening was nothing short of chaotic. There was only one server working the entire dining room, clearly overwhelmed and doing his best, but understandably unable to keep up. Meanwhile, the owner spent most of the night avoiding contact with customers and staff alike. It's one thing to own a restaurant, but quite another to actually run one -- when your team is drowning, you jump in to help. Stacking a few plates and refilling water carafes doesn't count as leadership. After a 45-minute wait, we finally learned our food order had never even been sent to the kitchen. Over an hour later we got our food and not impressed. Mistakes can happen, of course, but this level of disorganization points to deeper management issues. I understand Colorado Cantina is still fairly new and that growing pains are expected. They do have a few staff members with real hospitality experience -- hopefully the owners will start relying on their expertise to get things on track. For now, though, the best way to describe this cantina is potential that's being squandered by inexperienced owners. read more

Locals trying for the first time. Didn't know that it's brunch menu only until later in the PM and were wanting lunch at 1 but figured we'd try it anyway. Everything was great! Had the steak and egg sandwich and was one of the better sandos I've ever had. Melts in your mouth. Wife's chicken and waffles were equally outstanding and our friend got the avocado toast and said it was as amazing as it looked. Pretty solid bloodies too. Will be back soon to check out dinner! read more

Great food and cocktails. Wonderfully reasonable prices. Can't wait for them to open next spring 2026.

Probably the best burger I have had in a year! Fairplay is a little diamond in the rough and Colorado Cantina is one of the reasons I will return again! The ambience, cocktails, and food are great. I think this is the best restaurant in Fairplay! read more

What a wonderful restaurant. We had the Fried Chicken with the chili garlic sauce. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and very flavorful. The crispy Brussel Sprout side dish was outstanding (and we are not fans of Brussels Sprouts), but we loved it. The prices were very reasonable. They also have a variety of unique margaritas and the spicy blueberry was a hit. Overall this is a fantastic restaurant and we will definitely return. read more
