Cool bar, friendly staff. Had some great prices on cocktails it looked like. Wouldn't mind coming back for drinks. Unfortunately for dinner I mistakenly ordered the "lobster roll" if you can call it that. Taste wise it was nothing. I honestly thought it was cole slaw at first. Portion wise it was very small, nothing spilled over the bun because it was all wrapped in it. Worst part was that it was $28. Stay away from the over priced food and it's a solid place. read more

Came here after a long day at the mountain for drinks and snacks, and the cozy bar atmosphere was perfect for our group. Easy to have a conversation and top notch service from the bartender who had some great stories. The menu is geared towards elevated bar and comfort food. We loved the French onion soup with short rib and the pretzel in particular. The bar itself leans more towards whiskey and bourbon cocktails, but has pretty good list of local beers too. Definitely worth a stop on Main St. read more

We've really enjoyed our visits to Prospector for cocktails and lunch, and our most recent visit was our first time for dinner. Cocktails and service were excellent as expected, but we were a bit disappointed in the fairly pricy entrees we ordered. Not bad, but not great; my lamb chops were a bit dry. In any case, we've had enough positive experiences here that I'd certainly still recommend it, but I may be a bit cautious about ordering dinner entrees. read more

Great - low key spot where we really enjoyed our shared lunch. The server/bartender was easy and fun to talk to and the place itself has a great rustic feel to it. Fairly large menu and very well stocked bar. You should check it out! read more

Prospector is absolutely bomb, in particular the drinks. I came on a Friday night at the end of August, and there were only like 4 tables taken; it's not a big place but it was def less than half full and I heard the bartender talking to some folks about how the "busy season" just ended a few weeks prior when school restarted so things were quieting down in Breckenridge. The place itself is quite cute, it's a lovely spot that's open late so you can come for a drink or light food. I was pretty hungry, but mostly wanted a drink so I ordered one of their cocktails (the whitehead wildflower, $15) since the bartender said it was floral, but also added some rose liqueur to make it even more floral, and I absolutely LOVED it, one of the best cocktails I've had! I also ordered the miso salad which was delicious, albeit a bit small for $15. Nevertheless, I felt neutral after eating it rather than hungry, and it was late at night (8:30-9p) so neutral was sufficient. Also they have street parking out front, seems like it's paid only from 10a - 8p, but because I came late I didn't have to pay. There were a decent number of spots available, I didn't have trouble but the whole town is quite walkable. Overall would def come back, this is a nice spot! read more

We came here on a random weekday for happy hour. The gentleman behind the bar was super knowledgeable and helpful. We opted not to go for the stuff on the happy hour menu since it was mainly we'll type liquor plus a mixer. Boy am I glad I didn't go for the normal low ball cocktail. They do an outstanding job on every cocktail and take their time to give you a true mixology experience. The prospector was perfectly balanced and came with quite the punch! Don't forget your at almost 10k feet and the booze will hit different! I really enjoyed my time here, the staff is super friendly and the patrons are all super nice. Pro tip: sit at the bar for some good chats, vibes, and cocktail convos! read more

Calling all foodies-this is your place! Craft cocktails, high quality and unique food, and friendly service! Came here for lunch and tried the watermelon salad, ribs, and chicken salad. We got a bees knees and a last word cocktail. Everything was amazing! The space was very cozy and relaxing too. read more

This place is aptly named based on the decor and the menu. It's definitely got an old Wild West country vibe. I took my niece and her boyfriend there after skiing the whole day and we liked it. The food is very good but also very small portions for the price besides my chicken pot pie. We also got enchiladas and roasted beef. Each dish was at least $30 and tasty but smaller portions than we expected. We all loved the cornbread with honey butter...that was the yummiest read more

We were walking down Main Street in Breckenridge and came upon Prospector and decided to try it out. We were glad we did! It's a small place, but we sat at the bar and had great service from the bartender. This has to be the best cocktail bar in Breckenridge! I had the Smoked Ember Old Fashioned and it was incredible! The Short Rib dinner was also amazing and highly recommended. We'll definitely return. read more

3.5 stars... Started out with a flatbread and drinks... local beer selection was good, and the crust on the flatbread was nice.. For the main I chose the short rib, and it came out room temp the first time, but was delicious on the second try. Perfectly tender and served with mashed sweet potatoes. Ambiance is chalet chic, service was prompt and friendly, and prices are in line with expectation. This joint makes the list! read more

First night in Breck before three days of skiing, and we walked to this spot on a whim. What a great decision it was.l! The drinks were strong and well made. The draft beer options were awesome, but THE FOOD was the star. We had the open faced pot pie, enchiladas, shrimp noodle bowl, and lamb ragu!!! All were outstanding and we argued back and forth about which was the best, with no clear winner. We hope to be back!!! PS. The servers worked their asses off, and gave great service even with the place packed. read more

Carter, Sumner and George- absolute young stunners. Great review. Great cocktails. Placated the olds in our group. Highly recommend to anyone going thru and frequently staying in the Breck. This is a great spot with great bartenders. Mixologists if you will. We went there over Spring Break - and had to make it twice within just a few days as their hot chocolate concoctions (one Adult, one Child version) were amazing! Went back over the summer and equally enjoyed the hospitality at the bar with another few pairings of wonderfully creative and tasty cocktails. Absolutely will make it a "go to" when in downtown Breck. read more

We had drinks in the late afternoon. We were enticed by the sign stating they had the best smoked old fashions and they did. You get a choice of smoke flavors like cherry, apple, maple etc. I had maple. It was fun to watch the creation and even better to drink it. Really nice ambiance with chandeliers yet a casual, cool vibe. We're not hipsters either. We're 60 somethings, young seniors and we were welcomed and enjoyed ourselves! read more

Small bar that has a lot to offer! Service is great, the ambiance is friendly and the bar area is very cozy! Drinks are a must! The Golden Remedy was my choice and surely did not disappoint! Came with a group of 9 and were told there was no room--fair enough. But then we were offered shots and ended up charged $105 with automatic gratuity for something we never clearly agreed to at that price. That's not hospitality--it's a bait-and-switch. If you're turning people away, don't try to squeeze money out of them on the way out. The lack of transparency and added gratuity for a quick standing interaction says a lot. read more

This is a good place to drink, not eat!! We started with the cornbread and deviled eggs. The cornbread was extremely dry and lacked flavor. The deviled eggs were blah and needed salt. The new prospector is a really interesting Gastropub in downtown Breckenridge. They haven't just changed the name. They've added some really nice food and the cocktails are definitely better than at the old establishment. When I think is really interesting, is there use of some different cocktail ingredients? In terms of LACERS and mixers that I have never seen before the Services is great and the vibe is definitely very cool. read more

We did not eat lunch or dinner at Prospector, but the food looked very good. We did have the soft pretzel and cheese sauce appetizer and it was so good we ordered a second one. Friends said the deviled eggs were also very good. What kept us going back to Prospector though were the great specialty cocktails, the craft beer selection and the great staff. My favorite cocktail was The Prospector. I also had their smoked ember with two different woods, walnut and hickory. If you like Mezcal, Aged to Perfection is your drink. It is not too smokey with perfectly blended flavors. They have seasonal cocktails also so experiment and enjoy. You won't be disappointed. This place has a cozy feeling and the staff is amazing. Whether eating or just drinking, you will enjoy it. read more

I ordered two chicken pot pies for pickup today and they were extremely salty, had to put together sandwiches instead and literally throw those pot pies away. I'm a Breck local and visited Prospector in May. That visit was not great, and I had several issues*. However, I just returned from my second visit and was very pleasantly surprised. We were there on a Tuesday from 6:15-8:00p. We ordered the white wine sangria, burrata, crab cakes, and flatbread and ate family style. The burrata is by far my favorite dish; I highly recommend. I ordered it on both my visits and it's delicious. The flatbread is also very, very good. It wasn't super crispy, but I didn't think that was a deal breaker--the ingredients work well together and make for a deliciously savory dish. The crab cakes were large, but not my favorite. They were fine, just not quite as good as the rest of the items we ordered. We weren't there during happy hour (2-4 and 9-close), but the daily special was sangria ($7 for red or white; I ordered the white) and it was quite good. I'd recommend it, for sure. A nice crisp option for summer. Service was consistent and friendly. I arrived early (before my dinner companion) and was immediately brought water (and it was consistently refilled). It wasn't busy when I arrived, but even as it got busier throughout the evening, the service didn't waver. *Full disclosure: I wrote a very negative review after my visit in May. The owner contacted me privately to let me know 1) the old management team was gone, and 2) he had left a GC for me at the register if I would give them a second chance. I was clear that I wouldn't be changing my review if I still had complaints. --I DID NOT ASK FOR THE CG UNTIL AFTER WE'D EATEN B/C I DIDN'T WANT TO RECEIVE ANY SPECIAL SERVICE.-- I wanted to see how the visit would go w/o knowing I was there to reconsider my original review. Thankfully, this visit was much, much better and I decided to update my review. read more

This place is easily one of the most enjoyable places in Breck to go - both for drinks and food! The cocktails are always excellent (shoutout George!!), they have a great selection of wine & beer and the service is consistent, friendly and entertaining. The food always impresses, especially if you're able to order the special rabbit dish! I definitely dreamt about that after eating it the other night. Also huge fan of the deviled eggs.
