I was visiting Tahoe during the biggest snowstorm of the last few years to try to catch some great days on the slopes. Ironically, after two days of straight blizzard, a couple of the resorts actually had to close on our last day planned for snowboarding because there was too much snow to upkeep. Instead, we pivoted to a fun little day in truckee, and we passed by RMU for a drink. It wasn't too busy and we sat at the bar chatting with the bartender for a bit. I think I had a cider since they didn't have any sour beers (and I'm soft) and it was crisp and delicious. Prices were fair, and it's a pretty "know what you're getting" type of place - there's no pool or shuffleboard etc, just a bar. They had some decent merch too. I didn't even know they had an RMU in Tahoe, I've been to the Breckenridge location and that's what made me want to check this out. Would definitely pass by again if I'm in the area read more

The waitress Sarah was a little snotty, she seemed annoyed with a few questions. I wish I could find a bartender here who doesn't treat me like an idiot.. I'm new, when someone is understanding and guiding that is comfortable to me. The guy with the long beard was really comforting and nice ! She returned my $14 tip... said it wasn't enough. Fun place, especially if you happen to pop in here on the 4th of July like I did. The inside seating is somewhat small but there's front deck sitting and standing room, and a large back patio that also had a bar (less options). It was like a day club with a DJ, people dancing and everyone just having a blast. 'Merica! They have a full bar, local draft beers and wine. Which was perfect since I'm a craft beer drinker and my friend enjoys wine. The only thing that was weird to me is of course they check ID and stamp your hand, but I didn't really understand why when there were a lot of kids everywhere- granted they were obviously too young to drink, but it was still odd. It isn't that hard. Having done it, it isn't that hard. Just care. A little bit. The atmosphere is created for you, participate just a little bit. The bar was relatively empty. And the bartenders clung to the edges, talking with people they presumably know, casting glances about but really truly failing to provide a bar with a bartender. Service isn't hard. Look people in the eye. Smile. Say something mildly welcoming. Tell them you will be with them in a minute. Multiple bartenders walked up, poured a beverage, and walked away without acknowledgement. They will be fine despite this. But for the love of customer care, give a little bit of interest. Train your bartenders. It isn't that hard. And for the love, flip the water coolers to the other side of the bathroom corridor and buy a new one. Think through your menu placement and make better choices. Wouldn't let me finish a sentence to even ask for lime. There were three of us and she took two drink orders and walked away before I could mention what the third drink was. Not sure what the issue was, maybe it wasn't her day. But my personal experience here was not good. I was her on a Friday afternoon at 330, not too packed of a bar so again I'm not sure what the issue was. Our valet driver from the hotel suggested we check out RMU. It is a purple building in Main Street in Breck. We expected to stay a few hours and check out more places. We arrived at about 6:00pm, and started playing cornhole in the beer garden. There was an charity event for the human society in Breck with prizes for the "ugliest" dog, so naturally there we dogs running around and playing, which was amazing! We ended up meeting one of the owners named Bill while playing cornhole. We ended up having such a great time and stayed until 10pm. There are a lot of locals that hang out here, all of them are very welcoming and easy to hold great conversation with. We will definitely come back next time we visit Breck. The live music, beer garden and people really make RMU special! We even bought RMU T-shirt's to remember our experience! They do not serve food here but I saw locals bring in pizza from a nearby place. ***The best tip I can give you is don't play Bill in cornhole. He is too good!*** read more

I highly recommend their beer garden concerts! We were able to grab beers quickly but we went on a Saturday at 2 PM so we had to stand while sipping our beers. Beers were tasty and perfect after a hike. Their grilled cheese selection is astounding. I honestly didn't know which one to choose because they all looked so good. It was the perfect bite to eat after hiking all morning. Bathrooms are in the back, kind of hard to find but look for the signs! We parked in the back area then walked into RMU through the front. RMU Tavern, we weren't there for a long time, but it was a good time! I've been meaning to check this place out as a non-Cecelia's/non-cocktail bar option and we weren't disappointed. Despite being more of a local's spot than some other places in town, we felt welcome to hang and have a good time. They have a great beer list that is reasonably priced and while they have no food, you are welcome to bring in outside food. Our bartender took great care of us and even made sure we felt safe when a group of rowdy dudes was causing a ruckus. The one bathroom situation when they have the store side closed is not ideal, but it is what it is. I will definitely be back next time I'm in Breck. read more

I'm not one to complain, but staff here is wildly rude and lazy. Staff is unhelpful, orders aren't placed. The bar is empty except us and the orders are forgotten. The menu says "ask about the drafts". When I asked, the response was "look it up". They advertised a happy hour that didn't exist. When the food didn't arrive, because the order wasn't placed, the response was "it's out of my control". Even after the order was placed, it took 50 minutes. It was a grilled cheese.... My friend and I stopped here on a whim on our way back to our cabin after a yoga class one morning. We are so glad we decided to explore Breck while in town, and we are so glad we stopped here at RMU Tavern. When we first walked in, it was empty - just us and the bartender (Charlie). So we sat down at the bar and asked for a mimosa. After an hour of drinking our mimosas and chatting, the bar quickly got filled up with locals! So many locals, and they were all so welcoming and nice. They kept buying us drinks and it was like a scene out of a movie.
