Very painful boots and very painful fitting process. Here is an email I wrote to the company: Hello Surefoot, Several years ago my parents bought me and my brother Surefoot boots. I remember the store technician measuring my foot and deciding to size down for some reason, I guess to provide a tighter fit / more control. The fitting process was excruciatingly painful and I felt like my feet were not strong enough to withstand being squeezed by the blistering hot foam. I was not able to ski that year as the boots were so tight they cut off circulation to my feet and my feet became very cold. The following year, I was not able to get them on my feet in the first place, as it feels too painful every time I try. When I bought new boots I ended up getting a shell that is in the correct size. In hindsight when I step into the Surefoot shell with no liner inside, my toes hit the end of the shell. The shell is not even big enough to fit my feet without a liner. I want you to know how much damage your poorly trained technicians can do. Do you want these boots back to recycle the shells? I don't know anyone with size 6.5 feet to give them to. I'm a 7.5. None of your guaranteed repairs in terms of carving out and reheating the foam are going to help. The boots are simply too small. read more

I had been having trouble with a new pair of boots I had purchased at a competitor. I was very discouraged when I decided to visit Surefoot. Max helped me to fit and purchase the custom fitted liners. They fit like a glove and gave me so much confidence in my skiing. The liners are heated and very comfortable. I had to return a few times when I ran into issues with the batteries. Max was straight forward and tested the batteries and resolved the issue. When the liners felt like they were packing out Max helped me to refit them to a snug fit. There was no hassle or problem. I would recommend these to anyone who skis. Definitely worth the money. I don't ever want to settle for regular boot liners again. These are the best. read more

Surefoot definitely offers a good service, but the chance for user error by the salespeople is too high. For me, I was sold on a booth that was way too stiff for my experience level (which was discussed during the fitting process) and now I'm stuck with gear that is honestly less usable than going with a more beginner/intermediate rental. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Max who was so friendly. He patiently answered my questions and described the services for boot fitting. Unfortunately I'd had a different experience at another boot shop in town (where they were standoffish and made me feel that they were doing me a favor by scheduling a fitting), so I immediately wanted to give Max and Surefoot my business because he was so kind and friendly. Customer service matters! Max walked me through the process in detail and was helpful throughout. I had to go back the next day for an adjustment to my boots and he serviced them immediately and explained options for both that adjustment and possibilities for additional adjustments. I have a lot to say!! Don't go to the one in Mammoth they are horrible. I gave them 3 ski seasons to make my boot right. They had my right boot turning in. Can you imagine going 30 down a slope and you have to hold your right foot up or it will cross in front of you. The boots were so tight they were stopping my circulation!!! Finally!!! I purchased new Surefoot custom boots in February 2016. After 4 attempts to adjust my custom fit, the boots are terrible. Incredible pain on the bottom of my feet. These boits are completely a waste of $1,700.00. I would not recommend. read more

Yep, I checked 5 stars and I would give the boys at Surefoot in Breck 6 stars if I could. A couple years ago I got new ski boots (not from Surefoot). They never really felt right. Over the course of a couple years my feet/legs hurt more and more when I was in them. Finally, while skiing in Breck a couple weeks ago I was reduced to tears. My boots were giving me perpetual charlie horses in both my calves. Everyone I talked to recommended I pay Surefoot a visit before I got rid of my boots. I am super glad that I did. I bought the custom insoles. These insoles are not cheap, but they are well worth it. The folks at Surefoot have a 100% guarantee that you will be happy with how your boots fit, and if you aren't you can bring them in and they will tweak them until you are. For me this meant a few visits (all free). They shaved down portions of my boots, put in heel lifts, blew out my toes and insteps, and in the process made me a Surefoot believer and customer for life. Also worth noting - The Breck store has great hours and VERY prompt service. And to the boys at Surefoot Breck - Thanks again! See you next year! read more

Update: While the initial surefoot fit felt great, my right pinky toe was still constantly numb and in pain... This happens even when I'm just standing around in my boots. Went back to get adjustments for more than 5 times. Everyone all sincerely tried to help but I still couldn't ski pain free. Went to another boot fitter and he aligned me and told me that the boot itself was not good for me. He got me fitted with new boots and insoles. I've been skiing pain free and balanced since. I think surefoot may work for people with normal boot fitting problems that doesn't need alignment. People there are friendly and eager to help. I just don't think that foam injected liner solves it all. I think the best solution if you constantly have cramps, pain and numbness while skiing is to go to a good boot fitter that also does alignment. How your feet feel in the boots is only one element of good skiing. The other important aspect is how you are balanced in your boots... Forward, backward, side to side. I'm so balanced after my last boot fitter I can ski on one feet, jump and skate with ease. I'm enjoying skiing so much more! read more

Surefoot in Breckenridge is awesome! While camping in the area, my plantar fasciitis flared up severely. It got to the point where I was missing out on beautiful hikes and I was hobbling around, being useless. I stopped in to Surefoot and Ollie set me up. He made custom insoles for my hiking boots in a half of an hour, and ended up doing four modifications throughout the day to ensure that they were just right. I've never had custom insoles before and had avoided it because I had heard that they can cost over $500 a pop and take a long time. These cost $240 and were super fast with amazing customer service. They also do custom ski and snowboard boot insoles, which I will definitely do when the time comes. I was a bit of a persnickety pain, but Ollie was completely great! I was able to enjoy the remainder of my trip and not miss out. Thank you, Surefoot and Ollie! read more

I bought Lang boots with orthotics and Surefoot custom liners. Well worth the money. The boots are so comfortable I don't unbuckle at lunch on the slopes. The initial fit was good, but over a 10 days of skiing, I found my ankle lifted. I took them back for adjustment and the guys in the Breckenridge shop added some padding at no cost, and also ran through the best way to get my foot in tight boots and buckle properly. My heel is now locked in and very comfortable. There are some bad reviews here - just know that ski boots take time to break. For me, the fit after 10 days of skiing is near perfect. read more

I bought new boots from Surefoot before my trip to Breckenridge. While I had two adjustments prior to my visit (I have very wide feet), my boots needed more work (typical for me with new boots) during my trip to Breck. The staff there went above and beyond in helping me get the boots just right. I brought my boots back to them 3, maybe 4 times during my visit there. Each time the staff was incredibly friendly and very thorough in their work. By the time I left, my boots were perfect and I was skiing that much better. After berating me, Surefoot only beligerantly agreed to sell the boot with "No Guarantees, and No Warranty." No thanks! Surefoot is the BEST thing that has ever happened to me. I tell everyone about Surefoot because they are the ONLY reason I can even ski more than an hour. I have always had problems with shoes, especially boots- for skiing and skating. I am a beginner/intermediate level skiier (for 20 yrs, I'm ashamed to say.) A couple of years ago we went skiing to Breckenridge, which is a big investment coming from NC. As usual, I was getting a blister on my ankle after skiing for only an hour and I knew I couldn't last the day despite the cost of the ski lift pass and gambled on going to Surefoot because I had read about them online and we had 2 more days to go. I was afraid that my husband would KILL me if I spent $200 on an orthotic that wasn't a magic bullet because of all the money we had already spent. The guys at Surefoot were the first and ONLY people in my 40+ years that ever noticed I have a major problem with my ankles pronating, which explains the ankle bone blisters, and was exacerbated by my cautious skiing (I go down like a zipper so I put a lot of pressure on my ankles in turning.) I bought the orthotic and IT WAS MAGIC. I have now been able to ski pain-free for several more visits and they inspired me to seek out a podiatrist and other specialists to deal with my foot problems for the first time. Bottom line is: if your feet hurt, you need to have it checked out - period. I I can't believe that none of the physical therapists or doctors ever noticed what the guys at Surefoot noticed in a single visit! I've since been able to curb my runner's knee now that I have proper shoes with orthotics and I have only Surefoot to thank for starting me on the path to recovery. read more

Worse boots ever! My wife and I bought Surefoot boots last Winter in Breck and they are the worse fitting boots we have had in over 40 years of skiing. Regarding their guarantee we took them back last season for adjustments/refitting at the Breck, Keystone, Vail and Park City stores with little improvement. NEVER have we suffered from cold (freezing) feet, cramping, etc. and yet we have had to shorten our skiing days due to "poor circulation" problems (Surefoot's words). Of course they want us to spend another $400/pair for heaters but throwing more money at a poor product is foolish. This season same problems and a visit to this store resulted in being told they have a new process/liners which they claim will help. Our vacation time is valuable but Surefoot doesn't seem to think so.....never again and of course no refund! read more

This March I had my newish boots (21 days in them) punched out here, as my navicular bone excessively protrudes. I thought my liner might compress enough so they would not be painful, but I was wrong. I then skiied a few days in the boots back in California and they felt great. I then put them to the test in the Gunbarrel 25 at Heavenly, which is 25 laps on a double black all mogul run. After the event every part of me hurt, except for my feet!!!! I was in shock how well my feet felt compared to the rest of my body. Thank you so much for doing a great job!!!! read more

After four different re-fittings still the most painful ski boots I've ever worn. They ended up giving me off the shelf liners and footbeds. I was told there are absolutely no refunds of any kind, under any circumstances! I ended up paying $1200 for $550 ski boots. The off the shelf liners did work relatively well. I should've gone to racers edge. I spent two days going back and forth with no success. I think if the sure foot process works for you they're great. However if the process does not work for you you're simply out of luck. It's a $1200 gamble. read more

Extremely shocked at how my daughter was yelled at by an employee named Scott yesterday! We came in (for the third time) accompanied this time by her skiing instructor so he can explain how painful her $1,200 custom fitted boots she purchased two days prior! The skiing instructor and myself were shocked by his "short fuse" raising his voice at her while she was crying in pain. He said, "do you want me to help you or not?" "You've been here too many times" and when she said that she does not need to deal with this, he raised his voice at her and said, "I don't need to deal with this either" He was extremely antagonistic! When my daughter asked to speak to a manger he said, " I don't think he wants to speak to you" I've visited 50+ countries, speak 8 languages, and lived all over domestically and internationally. This guy was one of the rudest salespeople I've ever encountered. His manager came out to help her afterwards and was apologetic and nice but who wants to spend all that time and money and be treated like trash? I would definitely not recommend them! This customer service disaster wasted 5 hours of our vacation and all this money for boots that were so painful for her to ski on that she had to stop her skiing lessons two days in a row. If you do decide to shop here I could only in good faith recommend the manager who fitted her for a new shell and boot on our last day. Personally this Traumatic experience ruined my vacation. read more

My wife, friend and I all became customers at Surefoot this past week. I never thought I would spend this kind of money on boot-fitting, but my friend said he was going all out, new boots, footbeds and liners. THAT, my friends is an expensive proposition. An instructor had recommended boot-fitting for my wife, and the store recommended new footbeds, still not a cheap proposition(are you getting the impression I'm a cheap guy yet?) They put new footbeds in here boots to the tune of about $240 with tax. The next day, she loved everything about the new feel and my friend could not stop smiling and raving about his boots. I was sold. Went in, got new footbeds for my 5 or 6 year old boots. They guaranteed that even though I wasn't dropping the 4 bills on their liners, they would do everything to make my boots feel perfect. It worked. They tweaked my liners a bit, installed the new beds and I swear to all of you who may read this, the control I had the next day was like switching from a Yugo to a Porsche. No slipping through turns, no cranking down the front of my boots to try to hold my foot in place. It made that big of a difference. Still going to tweak the fit a bit next time I'm near a Surefoot, but this was by far a worthy investment into my skiing. read more

I brought it in and after analyzing it they decided to redo the liner. After one additional adjustment it fits great now. I purchased high end boots and inserts. I spent about $1,000 in all. Every time I ski my boots kill me and my feet go numb and freeze. I have gone into the store and complained that my boots hurt. They say there is nothing I can do for you except to sell me new boots. I would never purchase boots here again. You would think you would get this kind of customer service from a big box store. I bought my Surefoot boots in Breckenridge. I have been to the keystone store also. These boots don't fit! I have brought them in for refitting at least 14 times. That is two hours of time for each supposed fitting! They cheerfully have told me that other customers have been in for more adjustment than me! I haven't skied in a week and the pain in my foot from these boots woke me up again! I explained the boots were injuring me and they said they will adjust them until they fit! For the $1700.00 I spent on them I feel ripped off! I feel like they sold me the wrong boot right at the beginning, no boot should take that many adjustments and still be painful! read more
