So glad that REI is here in the mountains. This is the former sports authority location and they've done a nice job. Good to have Dillon location besides Grand Junction for those of us locals.

I made my reservation online and paid for the equipment in advance. They have a variety of equipment options, I chose the performance ski package, but wasn't quite sure of the difference between packages other than price. The store was located in a strip mall and upon entering looked like a typical sporting goods store. When you make your way to the back of the store they have all the ski equipment. I was asked if I had a reservation which I provided my email. First, you walk up the steps on a platform where an employee measured my foot to determine ski boot size. When I tried the ski boots on, they were small so they gave me a larger size for comfort. Next step is to wait in line to pick up your skis and poles. The employee at the counter calls you in the order of boot measurement. This process was a bit time consuming and took approx an hour before it was my turn. They input information into a system and ask you some questions about how you ski, fast, experienced, beginner, etc and help you pick out the correct ski brand and length. My boots were very dirty and well used, but they did the job. The employee makes some adjustment to the skis to make sure your boots fit. The XX skis that I received performed well and I did not have any issues. Check in if the equipment was much more efficient and they just scanned a barcode on the equipment when we returned it and we left it in a pile and were good to go. Overall, I think you get what you pay for and this store offers functional ski equipment at a reasonable price. I do wish the process of getting the equipment had been a bit more efficient. The employees were very friendly and helped to make this equipment rental experience go smoothly.

ALEX the CSR sat on a couch the entire time. When we went to check out, we were not asked any questions or even acknowledged. We purchased boots and skis then went down the road to have them binded. Come to find out the skis did not fit the boots. We went back 10 minutes later and ALEX told us there was nothing they could do. Refused to get COLLIN the manager on the phone. He admitted fault in not checking the skis and boots. He also mentioned he didn't want to be there and that he doesn't even talk to the manager. He expressed his dislike for his job and I quote "I'm literally doing physical therapy in front of you, I don't want to be here". I unfortunately did not read the reviews before shopping but they are correct. Rude staff, disgusting store, and scammers.

We absolutely loved this experience and will probably buy a bike after having so much fun with this activity. So about this business. They are a bike shop and you can sign up for a rental to ride a nice paved trail around the historical mining areas in Leadville. They were super nice and they provide you with a helmet, a map, and give you a quick tutorial of the bike before they send you on your way. Now before you decide to ride a bike in Leadville you definitely need to be prepared for the elevation and the up hill at times, but the views , the down hills, and history made it worth it ounce of sweat. This is a MUST DO when in Leadville. No better way to get to know this laid back mountain town.

We were so thankful to be able to rent bikes last-minute on a Saturday in early June from Cycles of…read moreLife and appreciated the friendliness of the staff and their tips on where to start the Mineral Belt Trail in order to get our biggest climb completed in the first portion of our ride. This was incredibly useful information for two non-cyclist from Texas eager to get out for a joy-ride:) They also tipped us off to a store down the street, Common Threads, to purchase a lightweight backpack to carry our phones, water, and such. I found the perfect bag there for $13 AND a souvenir Colorado tube mask/scarf/hat combo which came in super handy against the heavy winds in some parts of the trail. **I learned recently that covering your ears can help prevent ear infections by preventing pollens and such from entering--makes a lot of sense! We signed waivers, paid the $25/day bike rental fee, were provided bikes, helmets, and a map and were on our way! The rental checkout and return process was quick and easy and great memories were made:) My only suggestions for improvement relate to the opportunity to sell some small, affordable, lightweight backpacks in-store (as awesome as it is to recommend neighboring businesses!) as well as the need for some bike maintenance on the rentals. My front tire was a bit low, handle grips kept slowly spinning--wouldn't stay in place, and I had some wiggling back in forth in my seat. Some of those things didn't become apparent until we were working our way over to the trail and we didn't want to delay our trip by turning back to request those things be checked or have to retrace our route as the streets were uphill and required some work. Also, it would have been super helpful to have kickstands on the bikes as we were interested in taking photos quite often along Mineral Belt Trail and found it challenging to coordinate that without kickstands. All-in-all, I would certainly recommend Cycles of Life for bike rentals (though maybe spend some time double-checking the bike before taking off) and would gladly recommend the business to friends.

It was $78/person and we had the bikes for 4 hours for the 13-mile ride down. We felt safe and the ride was absolutely stunning! We saw the most beautiful scenery and even ran into a herd of mountain goats (I think that's what they were). I'm assuming the workers there are overworked, or just simply hate their jobs? Very passive aggressive workers who will call you out on minor mistakes or changes you may make. Not only that, they make this sly announcement right before you walk in about only pick up if you'll be boarding today. It's obvious this announcement is made for those who are unfamiliar, though we tried to explain we knew the process, but clearly that made no difference in their attitudes. I had emailed them after booking reservations that I would like to change my reservation to just 3 days instead of 4. The email response was extremely friendly and stated that it was no problem at all, just let the person know when I pick up my board. Well it was a whole different attitude when I got there. The girl who was helping my party aggressively got upset bc she had to fill out a whole new form just bc of my minor change. So very sorry for making you work extra hard and filling out an extra form. When returning the boards, the guy just tossed everything on the floor, boots and all as if it was garbage. Honestly I thought this place was a friendly city considering it's a legal state, but clearly I'm wrong. I'll be renting elsewhere in the future.
