We (a coupla middle aged ladies and myself) signed up for a bike ride down Vail Pass where we'd meet at this bike shop, get fitted for bikes, take their shuttle up to the pass and ride back down, ending in Frisco. It was $78/person and we had the bikes for 4 hours for the 13-mile ride down. We thought it would start out cold since it was high elevation, but a light jacket was sufficient on what would end up to be a 70 degree day. The staff was very friendly and gave great instructions. We felt safe and the ride was absolutely stunning! We saw the most beautiful scenery and even ran into a herd of mountain goats (I think that's what they were). We stopped in Copper Village for a coffee and then found lunch in Frisco. A fantastic way to spend a morning! read more

We normally rent our boards here each year we visit, however this particular visit back in February 2022 was not as great. I'm assuming the workers there are overworked, or just simply hate their jobs? Very passive aggressive workers who will call you out on minor mistakes or changes you may make. Not only that, they make this sly announcement right before you walk in about only pick up if you'll be boarding today. It's obvious this announcement is made for those who are unfamiliar, though we tried to explain we knew the process, but clearly that made no difference in their attitudes. I had emailed them after booking reservations that I would like to change my reservation to just 3 days instead of 4. The email response was extremely friendly and stated that it was no problem at all, just let the person know when I pick up my board. Well it was a whole different attitude when I got there. The girl who was helping my party aggressively got upset bc she had to fill out a whole new form just bc of my minor change. So very sorry for making you work extra hard and filling out an extra form. When returning the boards, the guy just tossed everything on the floor, boots and all as if it was garbage. I was scammed and lied to by this store when I went to return their rented poles that they claimed they didn't rent and forced me to pay for poles that they rented to me as a replacement. They then threatened to call the police and to take legal action against me if I didn't pay their fraudulent charges. We rented some very nice hybrid bikes and hopped on the shuttle that took us and the bikes to the top of the Vail Pass. They provided water bottles, locks and helmets. They even had some rain jackets we could borrow. When we called for pickup at the end of our ride we only had to wait about 5 minutes. Great day. Thanks Mountain View! Tip: Opt for the 18 mile trip. You can stop in Frisco for lunch and then enjoy a few mile ride that's a little more challenging than the downhill portion. read more

We've done their VAIL PASS BIKE SHUTTLE several times in the past and it's one of the best things we look forward to most when visiting Vail. We were curious (and a bit cautious) about how things would be running as the county is just opening up. These guys have it covered! One group/family per shuttle, employees have masks on, plastic barrier between driver and passengers, social distancing, etc. No worries, same great service, and always an amazing ride! Yelp's description of five stars is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" and that's exactly the experience I had here in March '19 on a four day ski trip. I had a demo ski rental and showed up late on a Wednesday evening (they keep fantastic hours, open until 9pm). The place was dead at the time, so my experience was probably boosted by the fact that there was no pressure to get me set and out the door, but hey, an experience is an experience. Unlike most rental shops, who effectively just take your skier type rating (I, II, III) and height/weight to set your bindings, the guys working the night I was there spent several minutes asking me questions not only about my ski style, but also about what parts of the mountain I planned to spend most of my time on (moguls, trees, groomed, etc) . They factored both of those in with the current conditions and then ran through a big checklist to set me up with what was the best demo rental I've had thus far. They also brought out two other pairs of skis that they had me take a picture of, where either of the other sets would be the recommendation based on two potential weather changes over my four days. Who does that?! Three finely tuned options that are weather specific and they're happy to let me come swap them out mid-rental if the weather went in either direction or I wanted to change what trails I was targeting. Return was quick and easy. Two other things I'll mention: 1) They had a very good suggestion given I was renting expensive demo skis. They suggested my wife and I put our skis in different places when taking breaks at the base or ending for the day, and swap one from each pair as a way to dramatically reduce the risk of theft at the base of the mountain. No one's going to steal an unpaired ski. 2) They did not offer insurance, so if you damage them, you're going to be spending some money. I usually opt for the $2-3/day insurance other rental places offer as I'd rather not worry about it. read more

Used one of the condo codes to get a discount, so everything was fairly cheap. I rented ski's some of my friends rented helmets, snowboards, even pants. While checking them out, it took a little bit of a long time compared to some other places I have been, but everyone was friendly. We had to come back a second day to exchange some of our stuff, and they were super nice and opened a couple minutes early for us. Return was easy too. Give them a shot. read more

Wow! We had a beautiful day riding bikes from the top of Vail Pass to Keystone (Vail Pass Bike Shuttle). First time renting bikes from Mountain View Sports, but not the first time in the shop. We have sent all of our family and friends to them for years for their equipment rentals in ski season. We'll do the same with bike rentals. Even though there are many options in the area, including the resort's ski shop right next to our condo, Mountain View Sports has great equipment, excellent prices, and most of all, are a small business whose owners and employees obviously care about their customers' experiences. They are good at what they do, especially for the proper ski/board boot fit and the correct length for skis/boards depending on skier/rider abilities. We will continue sharing with others about their bike rentals in the summer/fall months and am always spreading the word about ski/ride rentals. There are a ton of rental shop options and we've tried several over the years, including Christy's and Keystone Sports (on mountain resort rental shop). We always go to Mountain Sports. Riding our bikes through the aspens in their full glory this week and back down to Keystone on a beautiful September day is a memory I will always treasure. Other options for the Vail Pass Bike Shuttle) are: pick up in Frisco (12 miles, coasting downhill the whole way -- easy!), pick up in Dillon (additional 6 miles with mostly flat bike path, or you can ride all the way back to the shop in Keystone. We chose that one as we originally thought we'd have them pick us up, then were having so much fun that after our picnic at Dillon Lake, we rode the remaining 6 miles to Keystone. Super fun!! Great customer service! I took 3 pairs of skis in for a tune. When I picked them up the next morning the owner, Scot, explained that my daughter's skis had a problem with the bindings that made them unsafe. He gave us a free pair of rental skis for the day while they attempted to repair them. We returned late that afternoon and her skis had been repaired for the reasonable price of $20. Our skis performed great after being tuned! My son-in-law also rented his ski equipment there for the week. He too received great service, and the equipment was very good and in great condition. read more

I wish I could have given this review zero stars. I had a HORRIBLE experience renting my ski gear from this place. The staff was so mean and condescending. I felt so small and I was just trying to rent ski gear. From the moment I walked in the door I was treated poorly. The first man kept asking me questions I didn't know the answer to and was getting annoyed with me. My husband wasn't allowed to come inside with me due to COVID, which is fine, but he usually helps with these things. Then I go to get ski boots and a woman brings boots to me but then doesn't say anything else. At every ski rental place I've been to in the past, they have helped me into my boots and fit them for me. I am a beginner skier and was way out of my element and felt so lost. Even when I was struggling she still didn't fit me. The whole experience was awful and I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I hope they treat the next person who is a beginner much better than me. I felt extremely unwelcome and uncomfortable. It was clear I didn't know what I was doing or what I needed and I had hoped I would have been greeted better and had a more pleasant experience. If you are a new skier, I don't recommend this rental shop. read more

Mountain View Sports is pretty legit. We booked our gear with them twice now and each time was a superb experience. I still consider myself a beginner so I got the Sport Package ($27.00) while my hubby got the Performance Package ($35.00). The prices quoted above are the walk in rates but if you book in advance online then there is a 20% off discount. We made a reservation online and actually got 25% off since we were renting a condo with SummitCove who offered the discount to us. There is a $10.00 deposit per person and then you pay the rest of the amount in person. From walking in the door to returning our gear, every single person who helped us were really helpful and nice. They seem pretty old school so they still use all paper copies and as soon as you sign all the paperwork then you sit in one of the chairs for a fitting. It's a very smooth and efficient process, they call you to finish setting up and after paying you pick up all of your gear then you're off to the slopes! We didn't experience any problems with any of our stuff during the trip so we were very satisfied customers. On the last day we even decided to try out snowboarding for the first time and they were totally cool with it, we just paid for the difference. On the day of returns, it needs to be done by 9:00 at night but if you ask really nicely then some of the staff might say okay to returning the next day just as long as it is before 9:00 in the morning. I am not a huge fan of skiing so I generally don't love the whole getting skis process because it makes it 'real' that I am going to be soon throwing myself down a very large mountain. We used Mountain View Sports on 2 different occasions while in Keystone. On both occasions we walked in without reservations. The first visit was ok, they told us to come back later as they weren't sure they would have anything... the person we spoke to wasn't warm and friendly, but we figured it was a busy weekend (president's day) and we would stop back by. We came back in later and again, not a great customer service experience, but not certainly not terrible either. They got us set up with a little bit more expensive of a package than we would have gotten, but that was all that they had available so we took it (we were getting a discount from a coupon book from the place we were staying so it wasn't a bad deal). The process was pretty quick and easy. Checking back in after skiing was easy and quick as well. The second time we came in, it was not as busy and the guy who helped us was very nice. I think in any place like this your experience can really very depending on who you get to help you. This time they had the cheaper package available so we went with that. Overall, I think this is a fine place to get suited up for the mountain. The prices seemed reasonable and we weren't ever waiting long for service - yet they were patient with customers who were trying to get things just right. I would recommend this shop for bike rentals, advice, and help loading bikes. Josh took care of me and even showed me the route I was looking for on the topo map. They don't have full-suspension, so if going up the lift you will need to look elsewhere but I had no problems with the MTB I took out for a 15 mile single track ride. read more

We were staying at Seymour lodging right across the street at Keystone so we thought this would be a convenient option for renting our equipment. We reserved our equipment online (all of us got the performance ski package) and to our disappointment, there was really no benefit to doing this in terms of time spent in line. Granted it was the Friday of Presidents Day but we expected them to have our gear set aside or at least a separate line for those who made reservations online...Nope for either. On top of that we still had to wait to get checked out at the cashier even though we used a credit card to make our reservation...the entire process took close to an hour and was pretty frustrating. On top of that, the 'performance' skis and boots were pretty tired. There are PLENTY of options in the area. Next time I'm going somewhere else. read more

My daughter and I have not been on a bike for at least 7 years but wanted to mountain bike down Vail Pass. Trevor made sure my daughter was comfortable on the bike before we left the parking lot. He even switched out her bike and chair seat. It was nice to be treated so well and with so much patience. We enjoyed our ride immensely and plan on doing it again our next trip out to Colorado. Unprofessional staff. Would not recommend or return. Have come to Vail for 8 years and this was our third bike tour and second with this company. They had great brand new bikes. The staff did not seem interested in helping us. They could not answer our questions about instructions on forms they were asking us to sign, gave us advice about our ride that was geared toward them not having to deal with bicycle issues that could have arisen instead of advice that would have made it a more pleasant ride (ie. Don't shift the large gear). Overall treated us in a condescending manner probably because we are older women. BTW, not that it matters, everyone deserves respect but our group was made up of a judge, a doctor, 2 nurses and a teacher. read more

We were recommended here by friends with a good experience on the Vail Pass bike ride and so we thought we'd give it a try. The whole morning went fine for the 9:00 departure, we left ahead of schedule, despite us being a few minutes late and the driver was very helpful and friendly. The problem came on the pickup. We had a toddler in tow so I was sure to get my times accurate since we'd be pushing into lunch time, nap time, etc. We got down to Frisco and called the store for pickup. They said it'd be about 45 min. That was fine as it was only 10:45 and we had some snacks. Our other child was riding the Lake Dillon taxi from Dillon to Frisco with a friend so we had him go back with them and we said we'd meet them for lunch in Dillon. 45 minutes later we saw the driver and he said he was just picking up some people in Frisco to take up the mountain and that he'd be another 45 minutes before getting back to us. This was now twice the time we'd planned on and if we had only known that from the beginning we'd made other arrangements. When we got back to the store the Manager wanted to talk to us to see if we had called when we first got to Frisco from coming down the mountain. We said that we had and that we were quoted 45 min for pickup. He said he didn't know we had called earlier and that they normally should have told us 90 minutes for pickup. I simply said that the driver was very friendly and thank you but I was looking to get our family to lunch so I took off instead of trying to get a refund at that point. Now 45 minutes doesn't seem like that much, and it's really not, but it puts a dent into your vacation day and was totally avoidable with better communication. I called the shop back with some down time in the afternoon and really just wanted to let them know how to correct this from now on and asked for a partial refund for the inconvenience, which really should have been offered immediately when we had arrived back at the shop. After 15 minutes on the phone, a refund was offered for the 16 month old that sat on our lap for the ride up the mountain in the van. No equipment or other resources were used for her. I explained that really wasn't what I was looking for but was told that was the best they could do. The two stars are really for the handling of the doubling of the pickup time and no other aspect of the trip. We didn't rent any equipment so can't comment there. The ride down was beautiful and very easy. I'm not a good bike path navigator so when we passed through Copper and got into Dillon I had to take a second to look at the map as it's not obvious where to go. If we were to do again, we'd have a friend drive us up to the top and pick us up at the bottom. Also, if you do this ride, dress pretty warm and remove as needed, it got nippy which we expected but still could have been a little more comfortable with some heavier clothes. read more

I just returned from a 5 day trip to Keystone. I rented Blizzard Brahma demo skis. They were great skis - more importantly - they were extremely sharp and well tuned. They tune each ski every night. I commented about how friendly they were and guy I was working with said this shop is different because the owner works with his employees - sharpening skis, fitting boots etc. I planned to rent from them for two days and then shift to a rental place at the base of the mountain. I called them from the hill and they told me to just return them at the end of the trip. The best news was the cost, which was significanty below the other ski shops in the area. read more

I just returned from a 3-day ski trip at Breckenridge & Keystone. We needed to rent gear for 3 people; one of which was my 10 year old son. I got online and searched all Ski Rental shops near Breckenridge, Keystone, Arapahoe-Basin, and Loveland for the best packages. Mountain View Sports (MVS) ultimately had the best pricing in the area. They offer a 20% discount for booking a reservation. What really clinched the deal for me was the 'Kids Ski Free' package. Kids 12 years old and younger are free with an adult rental - there are some date restrictions. With the free kid rental and the 20% discount the MVS package prices were easily the best in the area. I called MVS before I booked just to make sure I wasn't missing any fine print that would disqualify me for the discounts and cost me more money. The employee I spoke was very helpful and reassuring that I had correctly understood the pricing. On line I reviewed the packages and available equipment. I'm a once a year skier, twice if I'm lucky, so I'm no expert on gear but the MVS skis & boots looked comparable to every other ski shop in the area. I ultimately selected the Performance Package because I wanted a more responsive/boot package. We arrived at MVS around 8:30 on our first day of skiing. There was one group being helped when walked in. There were several employees behind the counter and they immediately greeted us and looked up our reservations. As we were seated in the boot fitting area more employees began assisting us. We had one primary employee that was walking us through the rental process, but the actual fittings were 1 on 1. Additional employees helped each of the 3 people in my party and made sure that we had proper socks and thoroughly explained how to put on the boot and provided advice on how our socks, thermals, ski pants should fit with the boot. Most of it was common sense, but I could tell the information was helpful to some of my less experienced ski-mates. The MVS employee was unhappy with the look of the boots he game me and immediately took them back to the work bench and replace the toe/heel sole inserts. He explained that having unworn inserts would help the boot fit better in the binding. I appreciated the attention to detail. One person in my party wanted to rent a helmet and buy new goggles. He has a large head and need to rent an XL helmet. Renting the helmet was easy, but the Bolle goggle he selected didn't fit around the helmet. So he selected another Bolle goggle that was the next price tier up. Again the goggles didn't fit; which was very disappointing to my friend because he really liked style and look of the goggles. Again he jumped up to the next price tier of Bolle goggles and this time they fit, but my friend wasn't comfortable with the price. The MVS employee said that all the goggles should have fit and therefore to 'make it right' he reduced the price of the more expensive goggles to the lower price point - approximately a $20 discount. We were impressed and pleased with the turn of events. We were in and out of MVS in less than 30 minutes with exactly what we expected to receive. The evening of the 2nd ski day my son became ill and was unable to ski on our 3rd day; which meant that I couldn't ski either. I called MVS Sunday morning and asked what my options were. Without any questions they simply said if I could get the gear back to their shop by 9 AM they'd refund the last day rental charge. I got everything to the shop by 8:45 AM and MVS refunded the 3rd day's charges no question asked. Again I was very pleased. I would certainly rent from MVS again and would recommend MVS to anyone that needs gear in the Keystone area. Anything that I'd change or recommend to MVS: Since helmets are safety equipment and we all want our kids to be safe it would have been nice if the kids rental package included a helmet. Several other area rental shops do include helmets in their kids packages. The MVS kids helmet rental didn't even qualify for the 20% reservation discount. This is the only reason I'm not giving MVS 5 stars. read more
