I asked him to try on a pair of boots, and he basically said no, and shut down the conversation. I took my business elsewhere and spent $2200 (including the same boots I wanted - and for $100 less). I would recommend either shopping with Ski Mountain All-Stars (Avon) or Vail Sports (next door) - both super friendly and actually have better prices for same items.

After trueing the wheel as best they could, (a very old rim that had seen many miles,) they explained it was rideable but not 100%; they also recommended replacing the crank as it was quiet bent. They didn't hard sell me on a new bike or over charge for the work done. I was just traveling through when I needed the service but each time I'm riding in the area this shop will be my go to place to get bikes tuned, replacement parts, or a whole new whip. They have competitive prices, good inventory, & be sure to ask about rentals.

He listened carefully as I explained the pain I've experienced in ski boots for years--even those from expensive specialty shops. For the first time, I truly felt heard and understood. I have skied my entire life, starting at age four, and I had never known skiing without boot pain. Fred took the time to explore multiple solutions and never once rushed me. He genuinely cared about getting it right. Some shops don't seem to take female skiers seriously, but Fred absolutely did. I hadn't even planned to buy boots that day; I was just browsing. But thanks to Fred's expertise, I ended up purchasing the best boots I've ever owned. I literally cried when I skied in them--no pain and no break-in period.
