So fun and a nice spot! We came here to try cross country skiing and it was amazing. The staff was so helpful when picking out the sizing, and putting the skis on, to teaching us a little bit of the form. It is a lot harder than it looks but the views were amazing. There were other people but it was not crowded. The locker room area is very nice and warm. 100% recommend trying this if you are in the area.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I was wearing a huge long parka and one of the managers gave me a lighter ski jacket she had in their lost and found to wear for the duration so I would have more flexibility to maneuver. How incredibly nice! The location was very easy to get to and they had a nice little lunch spot with a soup buffet. The equipment was in very good condition and the paths were groomed well. However, the location is right next to I70 so you could hear highway traffic clearly.

A great place to go when the ski mountain is jammed packed or you can't get reservations. Why not try Nordic skiing??? For an affordable price, you can get a day pass and good quality rental equipment - like rossignol skis. There are a variety of groomed trails with tracks to choose from. You can also get lunch here after you are done. They make large, delicious salads for a reasonable price. Highly recommend for a new mountain adventure!

Got to Vail for the 50th NBS Anniversary Summit, but couldn't ski or snowboard because of an injury. What to do?? Sledding? Naw. Flat tire biking?! HECK YEAH!! This cyclist couldn't resist trying a new snow activity on her favorite outdoor apparatus- a bicycle. Woohoo! The people in the shop were kind & accommodating & surprised that we rode a 5k our first time out! The post ride activities were fun as well - bottomless delicious soups & chili (the bison chili was my fave!), cornbread, tortillas, condiments galore AND a full bar!! What a great & beautifully scenic day we had. A fabulous find if downhill isn't on the agenda-snowshoes & cross country were here too. Check them out. You'll be glad you did!

As a first time n00b trying XC skiing - I had a great time at Vail Nordic Center. Great spec gear rental. Signed up for a lesson (10:30am or 1:30pm options). Nathan my instructor was really friendly, informative and helped my progression on technique. I think I need to get some golf lessons from him in summer - always need golf tips eh?

This place is amazing! And it's funded by Vail public funds. The building is beautiful, like a big ski lodge with a stunning view of the Gore Range. The staff in rental shop and in grill are super personable, polite and obviously glad to be there. The food in the grill (unlimited soups, fixings and bread type products) is homemade and truly delicious. They do a great job of waxing and caring for skis and rental snowshoes (just rented once), but I ski on the course often. The Nordic ski course is nicely maintained even after big snows. The parking in the lot is free and convenient. There's a spacious changing room with bins and then a great restroom/locker room with a shower. The whole facility and staff are similar to what one finds at a country club, truly. It's right on the free bus line from Vail village, about 1.25 miles away. Good job Vail District!

Have you tried Fat Tire Biking? This was my first time and it was so much fun! Renting the gear from the Nordic Center was easy-peasy, with friendly staff, and good organization. The paths were groomed and clearly marked for with paths to stay on as a bike rider!

The trails are meticulously groomed. For snowshoeing, it's pretty flat and it's up to you how many loops you wish to do. This Nordic center comes alive in the winter over the golf course. The trail takes you by Memorial Park and a couple of quaint bridges. The cross country skiers looked like they were really getting a good workout on their trail. They offer bikes to rent as well. The staff was very friendly and the woman who sold us our pass was very helpful. The bathrooms are immaculate. This was a wonderful day that I hope to duplicate.

AMAZING experience here!!! What a hidden gem! We went snowshoeing and cross country skiing on the gorgeous golf course that is well groomed and marked. This is an extremely cheap option in Vail to experience the beauty and snow without having to buy a $200 lift ticket! Rentals were very cheap and you can go out the whole day. They have many different loops so you can go out for as long as you want. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful, as this was our first time snowshoeing and cross country skiing! Upstairs they have a cute lunch area with soup and bread options so you can warm up before heading back out. We loved it here and will certainly return!

For the summer months, visitors can rent a bike for any terrain. I wanted to see what the hype was about, so decided to try an e-bike. The bike was a very clean, class one e-bike suitable for biking/walking paths. The Bosch e-bike system was easy to use and allowed for quick change riding mode (manual, sport, turbo, etc) and being able to switch on the fly was a huge advantage when it came to riding the steep hills (going up both ways.....lol). The rental process is quick (especially since Epic Mountain has my profile) and the staff was really helpful, giving me a quick rundown on how to operate the bike. Rental rates are by half day (4 hours) or full day. Take note that folks can save 20% when reserving online versus in-store. The pricing is a little more expensive than if I had rented an e-bike thru our hotel, but Vail Sports has better maintained equipment. Rental prices do include a helmet and each bike has its own handlebar bag. I was able to ride thru the town, in the residential area and up/down Gore Creek Trail. The latter is a safe option when going between East and West Vail and does provide beautiful scenery. Upon returning the bike, the staff was also very friendly in answering my questions, helping me to decide whether or not I am going to invest in a purchase. I must say the pedal assist on some hills was a fantastic bonus to my ride. This was a great "touring" experience while visiting Vail and with the friendly and very knowledgeable staff, I would definitely recommend Vail Sports for all season equipment rental!

When we got to the lift we noticed the top laminate was peeling from one of the skis so we walked back to the store to replace it and they said it wouldn't affect the performance and gave us a hard time before they replaced the ski. We took a gondola up for our first run and my wife could not get the ski on, The binding was not adjusted correctly. We forced the ski on (luckily), got down to the bottom, went back to the store to re-adjust the binding. Both skis had to be adjusted (boot size 175, ski was set to 172). They rented me K2 Reckoner skis very (short). They were not skis for the current conditions, deep powder. I told them I thought they were too short and they said they would be fine. Bad experience! We ended up paying $202.45 each instead of $119.97 each (+taxes) for crappy old skis.

After making several changes, they appeared accommodating. However on December 23rd I gave them a call around 5 pm to let them know that I would be arriving to pick up my rental package between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. The person from ski base on the phone told me that was fine as long as I got there before they closed at 7:00. Keep in mind it was snowing and I was staying in a condo in East Vail. Ski base is in Lionshead Village and I had never been there before. Upon parking at the Lionshead parking garage and walking extremely fast through the village looking for the shop, my two sons and I entered the doors at 6:58 pm out of breath from the speed walk, and many patrons were still inside. The man at the register asked how he could help me and I let him know that I had called about picking up my equipment. He quickly dismissed me and said they would not give me my rental two minutes before they closed. I let him know that I spoke with his people earlier who said it was okay as long as I showed up before 7:00pm, which I did. Instead of servicing me based on the information one of his employees shared, his response was "well I don't know who told you that". WTF? Seriously??? Turn around and ask your staff who gave me the wrong info and deal with them later. I reminded him that It was his employee who gave me this information. He said he would not start a new rental without a reservation (which I also had), so I corrected him and told him that I certainly did have a reservation and that my son's boot size, skill level, height and weight was already in his system, but he still refused, got tongue tied, and stumbled through some crap about "the system" not letting him rent any equipment after 6:30. He said I needed to come back first thing in the morning at 8:00 a.m. and he would prioritize my rental. Hell to the naw!!!! That's not how you put the customer first. If your staff made a mistake then you should eat it, take responsibility and help a new customer out. I had to then turn right around and return to my car empty handed. What did I do? I canceled my reservation and went with Vail Sports at the bottom of gondola 1. Of course it was more expensive, but the vibe in that shop was 1000x more relaxed and accommodating. They repaired my son's snowboard binding without charging me, allowed me to take poles without charging, and they gave me a free day of storage because they couldn't find my basket in a timely manner. THAT'S TOP CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Ski base prices are more reasonable, so they bank on volume rentals and don't care if they lose me as a customer. They know some other thirsty patron will return the next day, tail between legs to line up and bend over for mediocre service, but not me. You guys suck!
