DISHONEST company that misrepresents what they do. I brought a cannondale bike to be reassembled after it was shipped from Pennsylvania. They never told me they do not deal with cannondale. The service manager sent me a picture of my bike with the seat post in place notifying me the bike was damaged after someone forced the seat post into the bike frame. The owner Chris Anderson said the bike was likely under a damage warranty. He said the the bike was handled correctly at his shop but there was a defect in the bike frame. Chris's store recommended I take the bike to a store in Avon that deals with cannondale. The cannondale store sent the information in for review to cannondale. The company said there was no warranty defect. When the warranty path did not work Kind bike and skies said the store in Pa damaged the bike in boxing. The bike was shipped without the seat in place. When Chris Anderson, the owner of Kind Bikes and Skies, could not place blame on the other store, this dishonest person blamed me for opening up the box lid. Every angle to not take any responsibility for damage. Chris Anderson and Kind Bike and Skies has taken zero responsibility for irreparable damage to a very expensive bike. Totally, not a trustworthy store. Get your bikes, bike repair and skies at an honorable store. Avon has a great store and closer to the slopes. read more

Made a last minute decision to mtn bike for the day. Saw that this shop rented bikes and filled out the rental form online. I showed up a little while later and the bike was ready to go. They hooked me up with an excellent full suspension rig like mine at home, and took the time to fit the bike and make sure I had all I needed for a day of riding. Very patient and friendly staff. My wife brought my sons bike in this shop for a brake issue on Tuesday May 21. She was immediately sold a "tune" which she did not ask for, but not knowing any better she approved. She was told that the bike will be ready in "couple of days". On Friday May 24 I went to check the status of the bike and a tech told me that there was an issue with the rear brake as it was all of a sudden pouring brake fluid, which it did not do when we brought the bike there. I asked him why but he kept saying that the bike was 10 years old and did not give an exact reason why it is leaking now. He showed me on his computer a new break system which cost $65 and he was going to order immediately and the bike would be ready by Tuesday May 28 at the latest. Today Monday May 27 we went to check on the bike and was told that the new brake has not been ordered yet and it would take a minimum three more days with a list of new excuses. At this point I told them that I would like to take the bike to different shop, because I was unhappy with the ever changing story and un-kept promises. I was told that all other shops would take them longer to fix it and if I really wanted to take the bike I had to pay them $75 for the "tune". I did pay it. I also took the bike to another shop who had it fixed with a new brake in about an hour and a half. Yes, today, right a way on Memorial Day. So, in conclusion I hope that the Kind bike shop management feels that my $75 for the tune my wife did not ask for and a lost six days is fair trade for this honest and factual review. When we had a bike rack coming loose from our trailer and pulled in for their help they all dropped what they were doing to get us back together. Everyone rallied to make sure things were safe and secure. Ultimately, the fix did not involve us buying anything from the shop but their concern for making things safe went beyond a purchase. These days, people that go above and beyond are rare and rarer still are those that do it because it's the right thing to do regardless of financial gain. Spend your money with these guys! read more

The people at The Kind Cyclist aren't very kind. Oh the irony. This review is for the ski rentals. I had one day to ski while here in Vail and rented my skis from here. My boots were the worst boots I have ever rented. They fit terribly and kept unsnapping in the middle of skiing. I wasn't able to control my skis at all and it was really dangerous. When I brought the boots back to the shop and told them that the boots were not working and dangerous, it turned into a fiesta of douchebaggery. The rentals were $29.00 a day which they refused to refund. Not only that, they told me that there was nothing wrong with the boots and that it was probably my ski pants (which just for the record I never tuck into my boots). The staff was rude, but this attitude also came from the manager/ owner who was not even concerned that he was renting people defunct and dangerous equipment. I felt very unsafe using their equipment and I always rent skis when coming into town, never from here though and never again. I've been skiing since I was 4 years old. My only option with this bad equipment was to snow plow down the icy slopes. It was scary. Don't rent your skis here. Bad equipment is not something you want to deal with on the slopes. read more

It's good old fashioned personal service without the snarky attitude we so often run into near or on the mountain, particularly with the constant turnover of employees who really couldn't give a care about whether the customer is satisfied or not. Certainly not the case at Kind! I recently bought a new pair of skis and bindings. I knew exactly what I wanted when I went in and was thrilled that I could support a local business and come out better than what I would have online. I lived in Vail last year and needed a road bike to take full advantage of being in the valley. The options are limited and I jumped the gun too quickly and bought a bike here. To their credit there were some nice people on staff, but I found the owner to be rude and unaccommodating. Had to deal with him a lot because it's a small bike shop. I did end up buying a bike here, because there weren't a lot of options, but I do regret it. After spending about a grand on a bike I thought maybe they would help put a bike computer on, but they said it would be a pain in the a** and they would consider doing it for $100. Seems a little outrageous for a customer who just dropped a bunch of money. Once they had my business I was actually treated worse than before, zero appreciation. Would not recommend going here or giving them your business, but they do have quality bikes, for the same price as everywhere else. The whole point in getting a bike at a local bike shop is to get great service, which you will not get here once they get your money. read more

I called them Saturday morning last minute and asked if they could have all my same gear ready for me since we were running late. We were in Colorado last week and decided to rent ebikes for the day. Last Fall we rented from Kind and the experience was so good, we decided to return and had another awesome experience. Best stocked bike shop in the valley and special ordering usually doesn't take more then a week, depending on when the order is placed and everything. Also the best bike mechanics in the valley with the most knowledge. Brought many bikes here after trying other bike shops and this was hands down the best in service and turn around time. My friends rented skis and boots there and the staff was very helpful. Just had a great Chrismas shopping experience at the Kind cyclist. They helped me find an item that I was having trouble with finding for a Christmas gift. Also, it turns out that the item was going to cost less at the Kind than it would at Sports Authority! Great locally owned shop (ski shop in the winter too). The owners and staff are helpful and friendly, and they are truly excited about the business they are in and it shows. As a local, we all have our own go-to ski and bike shops that we take our out of town friends to, and that we use for our own needs. The Kind is where I will be brining my out of town friends in for their ski rentals, and from now on is where I will be going for my bike gear in the summer and my ski tunes. read more

This place is horrible. I bought a Pinarello while I was in town and turned out it was the wrong size. Tried to return it and only got attitude. I am from Oklahoma and took it to two different shops that sell Pinarello and they both said it was too big. When I contacted Kind they only gave me attitude and acted like since I was from Oklahoma that myself or the other bike shops had no clue about the bike or how to fit one. It was a big mess and I finally gave up on dealing with them. The owner is a pompous punk that acts as if he knows all and if you question him then you are in the wrong.
