Fred was patient, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely compassionate. He listened carefully as I explained the pain I've experienced in ski boots for years--even those from expensive specialty shops. For the first time, I truly felt heard and understood. I have skied my entire life, starting at age four, and I had never known skiing without boot pain. Fred took the time to explore multiple solutions and never once rushed me. He genuinely cared about getting it right. Some shops don't seem to take female skiers seriously, but Fred absolutely did. I hadn't even planned to buy boots that day; I was just browsing. But thanks to Fred's expertise, I ended up purchasing the best boots I've ever owned. I literally cried when I skied in them--no pain and no break-in period. I had resigned myself to the idea that I'd need $1,500 custom boots forever, but Fred found the perfect pair for me for just $600, tax included. Because my experience was so incredible, I insisted my husband return the following weekend to buy his boots from Fred as well. Everyone at Sun & Ski is kind, knowledgeable, and treats customers with genuine care--better than I've ever been treated at far "fancier" stores. We will be buying our boots from Sun & Ski for life. I saw a pair of Solomons in my size on the sale rack and they were attached by a zip tie and a locked merchandise key. I asked a bald man who was working there. I'm not sure if he's the manager if he could unlock it and he said no you have to just try on one at a time and see if they work. I immediately left the store because I think this horrible customer service and this guy is an imbecile. I am a customer that lives in the Vail Valley and comes to the store for outerwear and he just lost me as a customer because I wanted to try on a pair of boots!!!???? he said that too many people walk out of there without paying so I have to be inconvenience because sun and ski sports cannot manage their loss prevention. Needless to say, I'll never be back and I'm heading all the way to Glenwood Springs to go to the REI where I have a membership. Don't go to the store. It's horrible.

The trail is easy but has the most amazing views! The only downside is we were not able to rent an attachment for our little one so he stayed with the grandparents. I could see the skis before even opening the package. Of course I wanted to return it as I don't even know the condition/ how compromised the skis were. I immediately sent photos with delivery timestamps and regardless of how UPS shipped it- the way the company handled it was so rude. The Director of Operations called me the next morning and did not apologize once. He was so condescending and said he already discussed this with me via email. The packaging was so compromised that I couldn't even reuse it to ship the skis back safely- he asked me why I can't you just tape up the sides and ship it back. I kept trying to explain that I was nervous to returned expensive equipment in a completely damaged box- I wanted to ensure I got a refund and prevent further damage to their afraid these expensive skis he didn't care- so condescending and rude - No accountability. No ownership. No solution. Just deflection and attitude. If this is how they handle a straightforward shipping issue, imagine how they handle real problems. Ski equipment isn't cheap, and customers deserve better than being told to fix the company's mistake with a roll of tape. I'm shipping it back as is and if it's damaged further it's not my problem. I will not be ordering from them again, and I will not be recommending them to friends or fellow skiers. There are plenty of other retailers who value their customers & their equipment.

I started chuckling when I peeked at the price-tags. They did not have anything that I was looking for, and in any case, in the 10+ minutes I was in the store, not a single person came up to greet me. Maybe I should have sprayed on some eau de baller? Without looking closely at them except for size we walked out. Once home the $80.00 sweater had a spot on it. (Inexpensive item but it was cute). When we tried to return it exchange the young salesman with a beard said my wife had worn it even though it had the tag still on it. He clearly stated she was a liar and nothing could be done. We emailed the owners Mike and Mary who know my wife by sight when they see her. No response so far. You decide if you want to shop at a store where the young employees are so poorly trained that they insult their customers. I heard great things about Tom, the bootfitter at the Beaver Creek Sports Village location. i decided to try him out. In March 2025, I bought new boots which he recommended, and paid for a custom footbed and bootfitting. First day on the snow was great. I brought the boots back to Tom to adjust buckles, to snug in the toe box, and to fix two small hotspots on my shinbones. The boots were ready the next morning. They fit perfectly. I have never been more snug or comfortable, and I am surprised the two go together. Footbeds and other alterations have me canted forward in a perfect position. Toes touch the boot toe but do not mash, and the heels cannot lift. I was walking with them tightened with no pain or shin bang. Skiing control improved. Boot price without the footbed and fitting was maybe $50 higher than from an online retailer, but the shop will adjust them for life if asked. I felt the footbed and other charges were reasonable. I researched Surefoot as well. All in, my boots cost about 50% as much as Surefoot. I couldn't be happier, and I couldn't recommend anyone more highly than Tom.
