I was recently helped by Brook Mitchell in buying my third pair of Surefoot boots (an Alpine…read moretouring uphill Head boot-medium volume for my high instep, wide, cro-mag feet). While being fitted for the boots, I also ordered a pair of orthotics since I recently started wearing them in my regular shoes. As with all my other pairs of Surefoots (including a pair for my 20 year-old whose feet finally stopped growing), everything was perfect and I have rarely had to go back for adjustments. I originally acquired Surefoot boots in Park City 15 or 16 years ago. I wore out the first pair two years ago. I have been thoroughly satisfied with Surefoot as a company, their customer service commitment, and with every technician I have met. Brook was exceptional, fitted me into a perfect shell for my weird feet and I am now enjoying uphill and downhill skiing at Vail. I also added a pair of heaters to the Surefoot boots I purchased two years ago, and that has materially changed my mountain experience as well. As an aside, the orthotics are more substantial and half the price of those from my New York City podiatrist.

My latest experience in this store is hands down the worst customer service I have ever encountered…read morein any store. When multiple people, including the owner, have horrible attitudes I wouldn't recommend anyone spend a dime in this store. After searching around a bit I went back up to my mom who I was shopping with and said I didn't see anything that I was interested in. The sales woman next to me overheard and asked what I was looking for, I responded "boots" and she replied "we'll we have a whole store of them" in an extremely rude tone. My mom wanted to continue looking and she found a pair to try on. A woman, who we thought might work there, passed us and my mom asked if we could try on the pair. Her response was "I'm just passing through." Confused we asked if she worked there and she again replied "I'm passing through." We asked a second time if she worked there to which she responded "I'm the owner. I'm passing through the store." We stood there dumbfounded and a third sales associate approached us. When my mom said "maybe you can be more helpful" the owner came out of the back and attacked us saying we were rude and she couldn't help us and we didn't need to have an attitude. The owner said we had an attitude because she completely brushed us off and didn't say anything like "I'm in the middle of something let me get someone else to help you"? I've worked in, and shopped in, many retail stores and I would never see anyone, let alone the OWNER, be extremely unhelpful and come out of the stock room to berate a customer. You lost a customer who has purchased multiple shoes in your store over the years. Tip of advice: learn how to speak to people, not just your customers, respectfully.

I had tried to try on a pair of Sorel boots - but it took far too long for someone to come out from the back to assist me. After explaining I needed to return to work so if I could simply purchase the boots now, and return them if the size didn't fit - the worker happily agreed. She even offered to "recycle my box for me"! Thinking that was kind, I agreed. LESS THAN 3 hours later on my 15 minute break, I returned to the store to ask to exchange my boots for a 1/2 size smaller - after which the SAME worker pointed to a sign next to their register stating "NO returns will be accepted without the original box". ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I cannot make this stuff up!!! Please AVOID the Edwards location of the Vail Boot & Shoe at ALL costs!

So many things to check out adornment wise for hats. Beads, feathers, pins, stamps, and so much more. The store itself is classic western style making it fun to walk around. Loved how the even the hat rim could be customized as well with just a little heat. There's a sister store in Aspen as well - which is very popular with locals and visitors alike. Recommend if you are looking for something truly special and unique. As with most things that are well made and custom you can expect to pay a bit more.

The staff is exceptionally warm friendly and knowledgeable. They seemed to know what would look good on my frame and kept me within my budget. I love the go to piece I got there. A sage velvet jacket. I wear it out to lunch or dinner, I throw it over my yoga clothes if I have to grab groceries, it packs well and looks good out of the suitcase. I am really delighted with this piece. I ended up splurging on cashmere socks which are to die for. They are putty soft and delicious to wear. I forgot how warm real cashmere is. I have not had success buying them on line. Sometimes you actually have to feel something to know the quality.
