I was recently helped by Brook Mitchell in buying my third pair of Surefoot boots (an Alpine touring uphill Head boot-medium volume for my high instep, wide, cro-mag feet). While being fitted for the boots, I also ordered a pair of orthotics since I recently started wearing them in my regular shoes. As with all my other pairs of Surefoots (including a pair for my 20 year-old whose feet finally stopped growing), everything was perfect and I have rarely had to go back for adjustments. I originally acquired Surefoot boots in Park City 15 or 16 years ago. I wore out the first pair two years ago. I have been thoroughly satisfied with Surefoot as a company, their customer service commitment, and with every technician I have met. Brook was exceptional, fitted me into a perfect shell for my weird feet and I am now enjoying uphill and downhill skiing at Vail. I also added a pair of heaters to the Surefoot boots I purchased two years ago, and that has materially changed my mountain experience as well. As an aside, the orthotics are more substantial and half the price of those from my New York City podiatrist. read more

Russ Shay and Surefoot are truly exceptional at fitting ski boots for those of us who are avid skiers but have challenging foot/ankle physiology. They go above and beyond to GET IT RIGHT. I have a prominant malleolus (ankle bone) and skiing would seriously aggravate it. Russ and his team not only worked to highly customize my liner, they remade the foot bed/orthotic such that my foot and ankle were now ever so slightly angled away from the inside of my boot. Performance is better than ever and I no longer have that grinding pain that was tormenting me for years! It took a few visits to their shop at the base in Vail, but that just gave me a chance to hang out with a group of guys who are all friendly, eager to help, and passionate about what they do. I just purchased a new pair of ski boots from the Surefoot store in Vail. The new boots are replacements for my 11 year old over 300 days of skiing Surefoot boots! Brooks who fitted the boots did an exceptional job and I am certain my new pair will be even better than my last. Given my experience I know that my boots may require a few little tweaks as I break them in. Surefoot helped me keep my old boots working really well until I ultimately wore the plastic out. I am sure they will do the same with my new ones and I know they will always be there to make the inevitable little tweaks. read more

Honestly, ski boots stink! But, this place does not! Getting modifications to boots will always take multiple trips to get it where you need it. This ain't no Cinderella story. With that being said, the Surefoot liners are far superior to any liner in the game & you will feel it excel your performance on the slopes. I had to go back 3 times for small modifications, but it's so sweet when you finally get it where you want it. The Surefoot staff will get you there. They are super busy early and late afternoons, but if you can find a midday window you will get more undivided attention. They are the best in the game, listen well, and will do all the modifications necessary until your boot fits the way you need it for free. The staff know boot fitting to a tea! In fall 2022 I had new liners made for my Lange boots. After skiing on them for a few weeks, I realized that the tounge on one boot was binding my ankle. I brought them back and they trimmed the tounge. After that the boots were perfect all season. I skied about 140 days including a heli trip and a trip to Silverton, and the boots were great in all conditions. I am very very picky, bordering on anal, about the fit of my boots, and I was totally satisfied with the work that the Surefoot folks did. They provide a quality product and great service, and I recommend them with enthusiasm! read more

I purchased a pair of ski boots at Surefoot in Vail and had quite a bit of difficulty skiing in them. I was worried about Surefoot's policy and thought I'd be stuck with a pair of very expensive, uncomfortable boots. However, I was pleasantly surprised with their service! The first day I went in I worked with a young gentlemen and Mauricio - they were both great, cordial, attentive and did what they could to adjust my boots. However I had to come back the next day as the adjustments were not helpful. Jason, the operations manager got involved. He had me try on several different boots until we found something that worked perfectly. The following day my ski experience was amazing! Thank you Jason for your patience and great service! Pretty disappointed in the service offered here. It's a fairly dubious error for a boot shop to confuse the left from the right (they worked on the wrong boot). When trying to get this mistake corrected not only was I asked to pay again, but they quoted me $50 when the day before I had paid only $30 for the same service. I questioned their pricing and explained that I didn't expect to pay again when they were the ones who had mixed up the boots. In the end they agreed to not charge me, but only after a rather involved argument. On top of that their persistence in up-selling their insoles really confirmed my feeling that I went to the wrong place to get my boots adjusted. read more

Surefoot is surely one of the biggest miracles of 2020! Overall exceptional experience here, these pros are boot wizards! My boots were tight and cutting off circulation to my feet. I made an appointment over the phone and Jason helped guide me to the website. Came in and the team was so helpful and kind. Chase helped me with most of the process. He first told me about the options for footbeds and moldings then quickly got my foot scanned. The process was extremely fast and professional. Chase did a fantastic job! I appreciate you, Chase! After an hour I had the boots heat molded by Chase. I don't know what type of magic powers he has, my boot don't even feel the same! Absolutely perfect!!! I got boots here about 10 years ago. Each year since, I've gone back with pain all over my feet and problems with sliding in my boots. They sold me a custom orthotic footbed, and kept putting bits of foam and other crap on them. Nothing helped. I finally went to another shop 2 years ago to get a second opinion. They told me the boots were 1-2 sizes too big. I went back to Surefoot last year and told them I was still having problems, that I thought the boots were too big, and that I wanted them fixed (since they guarantee their fit). 3 days in a row I went in, they made the boots worse each time, and acted like it really wasn't their problem. The third day, I flat out said these boots are too big. The guy said that "based on my measurements, these were the perfect size boots." He never tried measuring my feet to check or made any attempt to try to work with me to fix the problem. Do not get your boots here. The owner may know what he is doing, but their workers are often rude and are poorly trained (they get a lot of turnover from year to year). They fit me in boots 2 sizes too big, and their solution, instead of replacing them, was to shove a bunch of foam in the boots and put a ridiculously thick (poorly made) orthotic in. The guys at another ski shop were laughing hysterically when they saw the things. There are so many better places to get your boots (like Christy's for example). You'll get much better service and they will actually work with you to fix any issues you have. Please don't go to Surefoot. read more

Both my daughters and I purchased ski boots from them. One daughter, who wasn't thrilled with the fit, went to another store. The other store found a perfect fit and told her the boot from Surefoot was not for her foot form. We returned the Surefoot boot the day after we bought them, but not without much difficulty. My boot and my other daughter's boot from Surefoot never fit either of us correctly. We both spent hours, year after year, trying to amend the problems. Finally, my daughter tossed her boots, went to a used equipment store and found a perfect ski boot. BTW, she had so much pain with the Surefoot ski boots throughout her late teen years, she now, as an adult, hates skiing, associating the activity with pain. I have "problem feet" that I thought were impossible to fit. The ski boots I brought with me to Vail were boots that were custom fit many years ago with custom orthotics and then tweaked many times over the years by other so-called boot experts -- all to no avail. I basically got accustomed to skiing with painful boots all these years. Then I ran into a buddy this trip who told me about how Surefoot completely changed his "problem feet syndrome" so I came in and gave it a shot. First day: felt amazing after the shell was "hot tanked" but got uncomfortable later so I went in for an adjustment. Second day: I started to feel pain in certain areas and went in to get them adjusted again. Third day: PERFECT! I still can't believe it's possible to ski pain-free and am bummed my trip is at an end now. For the "mere" cost of 3 $500 Matsuhisa dinners, this was money well spent! I highly recommend these guys and in particular Charlie in the Vail Village store. He knows how to fit a ski boot! read more

He'd been having a bit of loose fit/gap issues in his heel pocket when we visited SureFoot Vail. They watched him walk, took out his boot liners and inserted a simple heel shim on both boots to take up the extra space. In addition to great fitting boots, I started using their Mountain Club service, storing boots, skis, and poles with them - which they ship to wherever you are skiing next. It's fantastic, soooo much better than lugging your gear through the airport to different mountains. In Vail, they are 50ft from the Gondola, so I grab my stuff when I get there, and then drop it off when I leave. Don't even have to carry anything through the village. read more

After a tough couple of days on the mountain in my new boots (Rossignol AllSpeed 120) I could barely walk and my feet were in the worst pain they've ever been in. I had heard about sure foot in the past but was skeptical that they would actually be able to help with my pain. I was dead wrong. That's when I met Connor O'Brian. Connor and I worked though what was actually bothering me and ultimately what he recommended as a plan of attack. Ultimately I decided on custom footbeds and can say after a hard day in China Bowl and Blue Sky Basin my feet have never felt better. I bought my boots 8 years ago and really didn't want to spend over $1200 for boots. My friend sort of guilted me into it. So glad he did. He also guilted my husband into a pair. These boots are warm and comfy and the best is every single Time before I go skiing, I stop in at surefoot and have them dip my boots so that they are nice and warm. Also once in a while if something doesn't feel comfortable with my foot, they are always ready to fix it. It's funny I was speaking to Connor today at the Vail store and I asked how much new boots would be if I bought them today. I was super surprised to hear that it would be about $1200. No price increase in eight years. Bottom line is I think these were the best investment of all my pieces of ski equipment and to me if you don't have a comfortable boot while skiing, you're not gonna have a great ski day. Let's just get it out of the way--Surefoot boots are a premium product at a premium price. Are they worth it? 100%!! My first boots were purchased in 2004 and they were perfect out of the gate - never one problem. When it was time to replace them, last season, I was fitted for a higher performance boot and the fit was tighter. I felt like a nightmare customer, I was in the shop several times and they were super patient with me until they were perfect. It was a few small tweaks that made the difference, but the customer service is what put them above and beyond any of the other boots shops in Vail. I felt like a pain and they never made me feel at all like I was being high maintenance and they spent time addressing the problem rather than being dismissive of it, like some other ski shops I have visited. I am super happy with the boots now and I cannot say enough about how knowledgeable the boot gutters are and how friendly the entire staff was during the process. read more

If I could give no stars to Surefoot, I definitely would. I bought a pair of boots at the Beaver Creek location in 2014, but I've never been able to get them to fit right. After a few runs on Vail this season, I came in here for some adjustments in a last-ditch effort to make the boots work. While the employees quietly laughed at my issue, the manager, Eric, told my father that they didn't have to provide us with service and threatened to kick us out of the store. After a cooling off period, he did make some adjustments to the boots that made them slightly better but still didn't resolve the issue. He refused to return the boot heaters I had purchased less than 24 hours before, speaking to me with more condescension than I've ever experienced. I left the store with boots that still don't fit properly and a pair of boot heaters that are essentially useless for me. Rather than waste my time with a company that doesn't care about its customers or the guarantees it makes, I bought a pair of boots elsewhere from a company who worked diligently (and happily) to ensure I had a great-fitting pair of boots. Don't waste your time or your money here. read more

PLEASE, I implore you, DO NOT purchase custom boots at Surefoot in Vail Village. Our experience with my Wife's boots was nothing short of a nightmare, and quite literally cost her 3 full days of skiing due to the resounding incompetency of these employees. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! The first day of our trip, my wife's old boots were not feeling good enough to continue on, so we decided to go out on a limb and give Surefoot a try. We went in to the store and were told that they only had 1 boot that they could fit my Wife for. When we asked if we could buy a boot elsewhere and bring it back for customization, the salesman we spoke with (WILL) said (and I am not kidding), "that would be an insult to me because then I wouldn't get the commission." Disgusted, we left the store and drove all the way to Breckenridge (we were staying in Vail) where sure enough, they had plenty of other boots to choose from in her size. We were told later that the Vail store does not receive inventory as frequently as other locations, and that they will try to sell off whatever they have before resupplying. So basically they will put you in the wrong boot on purpose to clear out their inventory if they can. This guy was proof. If anyone I have ever met deserved to be fired for something, it was this piece of work. Absolutely disgusting. We wound up purchasing a pair of boots at the Breckenridge store for $1,400, and the staff was more or less understanding, polite, and helpful. When you are spending this kind of money on ski boots, you are (hopefully) purchasing the assurance of a specific result. Otherwise, Surefoot would have no value relative to other stores and boot fitters. After buying the boots at the Breck location, we had to come back to Vail again to do the adjustments to make sure the boots were right during the rest of our trip (that's where we were staying/skiing). The staff (knowing we purchased the boots from the Breck store) treated us like second rate citizens, and were constantly burdened by her discomfort and need to have adjustments done. Eye rolling, laziness, deliberate diversion of their attention, etc. So unprofessional. IT'S A CUSTOM BOOT SHOP. Adjustments are part of the package you are paying for! The primary reason you purchase from a store like Surefoot is first rate service and unlimited customization; no matter how hard the boot fitter has to work or for how long. The purpose of these boots is to be as close to perfect as a ski boot can get. The majority of the employees in the Vail Surefoot appear to have virtually no knowledge or experience to speak of, and should be light years away from a custom boot shop. We kept seeing the same customers in the store over and over again, complaining, uncomfortable, frustrated...The lack of competence displayed by the employees of this store was as easy to spot as a commercial airliner crashing through the roof of a house. After 3 days of agonizing pain and constant adjustments, I am now writing this review. To close out our story, we wound up going back to basics and went to Christy's where we purchased an incredible pair of boots with custom foot beds for under $700 that my Wife could not be happier in. The folks at Christy's are industry veterans, and know exactly how to fit boots. The guys in Surefoot could have been flipping burgers earlier that morning. I will go on record saying that I do not doubt that the Surefoot brand owns technology capable of making a great custom boot. I can however tell you that this particular store is virtually incapable of delivering on the "Guaranteed Fit" that Surefoot prides itself on. The Surefoot website says that their boots are for everyone. This is 10000000% NOT TRUE. These boots are designed EXCLUSIVELY for upper echelon skiers putting in 150+ days per season that require specialized fit. If you want boots that are designed for comfort, you are better off strapping cinder blocks to your feet than you are shopping at Sorefoot. Avoid this place at all costs. For the rest of our lives, hearing the word "Surefoot" will evoke nightmares. read more

I ski 70-100 days per year and have tried many different custom fitted ski boots. Surefoot is very unique and by far the best fitting, best performing, and most comfortable I've ever experienced. I have the foam injected custom boot liners and the custom foot beds. My boots are formed exactly around the shape of my ankles and feet. I originally went to Surefoot because I had broken my left ankle and my right tib/fib and have a few bones that stick out now. My boots are more comfortable than any boots I've ever had even prior to my injuries. Also, the performance I get from the custom liners is outstanding. My skis are much more responsive without the unnecessary slop or wiggle room inside my boots. I wish I had sought them out much sooner. I couldn't be happier! read more

Unfortunately I had a less than ideal experience at Surefoot. Was convinced to purchase demo boots for myself,boyfriend and son at the aspen Surefoot location. Our first opportunity to use these boots was in Vail, CO. As a large business entity we went to the Vail location for help and adjustments. For 3 days in a row we sought help for the painful boots. No relief provided, which lead us to rent boots so we could ski during our vacation. All of us had the worst foot pain from the "demo" boots. We purchased custom foot support which were not comfortable once on the mountain. Went sought help from Vail Surefoot. We finally went for multiple consults by certified boot fitters to learn we were sold incorrect boots for our feet. It appeared to be a quota sale! I asked to return the boots for a refund as we cannot wear the boots we were sold. The "regional manager" said no returns on demo boots but they will offer credit toward a new pair of boots for all 3 of us. Based on our experience not comfortable with the company or there intentions. They told us we needed custom liners also with new boots. Such a racket! I heard from friends who are avid skiers to avoid Surefoot, but I gave the benefit. This was a horrible experience and I will never do business with Surefoot regardless of location. The salesperson at the Aspen location was ill informed and sold us liners and boots that did not go together. The pain our feet experienced was horrific. To the point we all had to rent skis. The Customer service experience was horrible and appeared to be at focused on selling us new custom Boots versus handling the situation by taking back the incorrect boots sold to all 3 of us. read more
