I decided to give Jeff the challenge of solving my ski boot problem after reading the other reviews. I gave him my foot and boot history and on my first visit he examined my footbeds, stance and rental boots and he correctly diagnosed how I used my feet skiing (incorrectly) and suggested trying changes. I confirmed his suspicions by improving my skiing using his changes. On my second visit he had me try on a boot which would match my stance. He stated that the (rental) boots I was using were actually hindering my skiing. I also tried other boot brands and models he recommended. Having previously purchased useless boots from other boot fitters, I reluctantly decided to bite the bullet and purchase the boot he had recommended (on line). I had been skiing the Gondola at Keystone top to bottom in my rental boots and I always had to stop and rest on the way down. First time I tried the new boots stock standard (without my footbeds), on the same run, and I didn't have to stop for a rest! The effect was immediately noticeable. Several days later, I cannot believe how much a difference these boots, have made to my skiing without any fine tuning! I feel like I have just discovered skiing for the first time and I have been skiing for over 30 years! For this alone I cannot thank Jeff enough. Unfortunately I'm out of time and won't be able to get Jeff to fine tune my footbeds and boots to improve my comfort levels until next season. I will write another review after that process. I used to have access to (what I thought was really great) boot work when I was a competitive ski racer and Jeff totally blew the top off of what I thought boot work should be. His attention to detail is second to none and he addresses everything. I started out by going to Jeff for a consult. He checks out your feet, ankles, knees, how you move, etc. Then he tells you, based on everything he's seen, which boots are the best boots for me specifically and told me to go get them at the best price I could and bring them back to him for the custom work. He isn't trying to push a certain boot because of commissions or to move inventory and he is one of very few industry pros who checks out ALL of the new boots each year. Not only did he adjust my boots for fit and build custom footbeds for me, he also adjusted them to accommodate my knee alignment and the difference in length between my two legs. I went to the guy's who say all they do is boots and spent THREE YEARS trying to put together something that worked. Jeff had me fitted and comfortable after the first visit. I have been having boot fit problems for three years. Been through numerous boot fitters in the past three years - even surefeet, and I have never felt as balanced I have after getting fitted and aligned by Jeff. He was super busy but managed to squeeze me into his schedule. He spent the whole morning troubleshooting my feet and alignment issues to make sure I'm not comfortable in my boots, but that my ski stance is appropriate to turn with ease. I spent the entire afternoon skiing and loving the pain free, in balance feeling I never felt with my previous boots. Jeff is a rock star boot fitter! I've used his services since 2008 and he's the best I've ever seen. Forget the chain-based fitters. Jeff forgot more than they know about biomechanics, foot anatomy and customization techniques. Jeff is awesome. I could not imagine a person more knowledgeable about his craft. I'm a relatively new skier, with only a couple trips experience. Each of those previous trips had been accompanied by foot, ankle, and knee pain. Despite the discomfort, I fell in love with skiing and decided to purchase my own boots. I came across Jeff through a simple google search ('Boot fitting breckenridge') which led me to his website and this Yelp page. I decided to take a shot on Jeff after reading the other reviews and I'm absolutely thrilled that I did. Jeff spent more than three hours with me. Not only making sure that we selected the boot that best fit my somewhat strange foot alignment, but also taking the time to make sure that boot was as comfortable and beneficial to my skiing dynamics as possible. After skiing with my properly fitted boots, I have none of the pain I've experienced in previous trips. I also feel that my skiing has improved as a result. If you are in need of ski boots, Jeff Bergeron, owner of Boot Fixation, is the man to see. I was just barely comfortable skiing the green slopes back in 2006 when I just got fed up with rented boots. They always hurt, no matter what I tried re socks, size, adjustments, etc. I had just joined the Space City Ski Club of Houston, Texas at the time and I was chatting about it with a former president of the club who was also a very knowledgeable skier. He had also retired and moved from Houston to Colorado so he could ski more and work in the ski industry. He told me that the guy I needed to see was Jeff Bergeron. He made the point that Jeff fits boots for all levels of skiers from professional racers to guys like me and that, since I didn't know much about it, I needed someone whom I could trust would not sell me on something I didn't want or need. When several other folks in the club echoed that recommendation, I went to see Jeff in Breck. This was in 2006. Then, this morning, I was considering the sad fact that sometime in the not too distant future, I'm going to have to get a new pair of boots. This is a sad fact because the boots Jeff fitted for me back in 2006 have been perfect ... beyond perfect. Comfortable, functional, and very helpful to my skiing progress over the last 7 years. I thought about all the stories I've heard from other members of the club over the years about the headaches of getting new boots, the multiple trips back for further adjustments, etc. So, I thought I'd check to see if Jeff and Boot Fixation were still around. There they are on Yelp! So, of course, I'll be back for my next pair of boots, for sure. Back in 2006, Jeff didn't sell boots. He had me get naked from the ankles down, studied my feet and ankles, (laughed, and explained that the rented boots always hurt because they were made for human feet), and then we went boot shopping. Yep, we left his place and walked down and visited three boot stores nearby. He found two or three or four pairs that were appropriate and recommended I buy one of two (which were not the most expensive), which I did. Then we went back to his place and he had me smear some kind of face makeup on my feet and ankles, get in the shells of the boots, then he'd study where the stuff appeared. Then he started grinding and snipping and working away on 'em. By the time he'd finished, he'd darn near made a custom pair of boots for me. I've been extremely happy with 'em ever since. A good pair of boots makes a HUGE difference in your skiing, especially for somebody like me who was really just getting into it back then. So, I heartily recommend Boot Fixation for any level skier. Like JN before me said, Jeff is a ROCK STAR. When it comes to experience and knowledge about anatomy, alignment, stance, etc, there is no comparison between him and my last boot fitter. A few years ago, I finally bit the bullet and spent $1200 on boots from the well-known custom place up the street; I'd had bad feet for a long time, but these pricey boots caused even more problems. I was in so much pain when I finally found Jeff that I couldn't ski for more than a few hours a day. He was able to pinpoint the source of my pain and patiently took the time to find the boots that fit ME. He called around to find my size at other local stores, and then spent a few hours customizing--and I mean really customizing--them. (I now understand that there's a lot more to a custom boot than just the footbed/orthotic.) Today I can wear my new boots for the entire day (comfortably!!) and focus on my skiing instead of on how much my feet hurt. Thank you, Jeff! read more
