Food: 4.5 Stars Service: 4 Stars I'm going to round this up to a five just because I love the place and have been there so many times to pick up a quick snack or lunch or dinner. THE Location is so convenient and gets a lot of foot traffic. Ottos has such innovative flavors, things that I've never had before I came to cambridge. They have pulled pork, butternut squash, mashed potato. and MANY MORE! IF you do catering and get multiple pies, the pizzas will actually come fresh. The only drawback of buying slice by slice is that they just reheat what they've already made which makes the pizza a little dryer than it would be originally but still delicious and fresh out the oven. read more

While my beloved Zing Pizza (Porter Square) continues to hibernate, Otto offers basically the exact same thing: delicious, gourmet, hipster pizza by the slice. And I am indeed a delicious, gourmet, hipster pizza-eating gourmet hipster. The staff was super-friendly, and seemed to get a kick out of me telling them to choose my pizza for me. I ended up with the sweet, lovely ricotta+cranberry one. Hooray. Very very limited seating - which will be a problem once the tundra sets in - but, for now, this place is great. In the summer, it'll be PERFECT. read more

Otto's Pizza is already amazing for being open at 1AM in an otherwise extremely sleepy Cambridge. The pizza is thin-crust style and excellent. It's served very hot, and you take your pizza to dump toppings on it if you wish and then find some nice place to eat and people watch around the area. I got a slice of the Margehrita. It was very fresh, with high-quality ingredients and good crust. I would definitely go back again and try other flavors. read more

Probably my favorite pizza in Boston (erm, Cambridge). The crust is thin, crispy and delicious. Every slice I have tried has been a unique and tasty combination. So far I have tried... 1. mashed potato, bacon, cauliflower 2. butternut squash, ricotta, cranberry 3. white bean, sausage, herb and red flake 4. pulled pork and mango 5. apple, bacon and red onion I would have to say that 3 and 4 are probably my favorites, but I would recommend them all. read more

Definitely unique. I've tried their chicken tort and their cranberry ricotta, and both are great. They don't taste like any pizza i've ever had before (in a good way), and the uniqueness is a premium. I like that they have variety of both veggie and meat options (kindofkosher4lyfe). They are definitely a little bit greasy, but that comes with the territory of a good pizza. Why is it not 5 stars? - sometimes they leave their pizzas out for too long, and even when warmed up the cheese is a bit congealed. not too uncommon for pizza places, but this place is pricey so I'd expect a bit of that. basically, if you get it later at night understand you're paying that "we are otto's, we're a cool unique staple of harvard square" price but for old stuff. BUT, if you get delivery or prime-time pizza, it's fantastic. - for pizza of this quality it'd be nice to be able to sit down. read more

Dig this place. I've eaten at their Lynnfield location a few times, and stopped here to grab a slice the other day. Quality pie.

It's good pizza. I've been many times. The toppings are creative but not absurd. 3/5 though because it can be wildy inconsistent. Like half the time I go, they drop my slices in the over to reheat (as they do with all slices) and then get distracted. My slices then come out burned. Not like "yay crispy crust!" burned, but like "blackened crust and the cheese is now totally dried out" burned. The slices are also cut very inconsistently. Sometimes for $3.50 I get a huge slice and sometimes a tiny slice. The idea of the small hole-in-the-wall place is fun, especially to stop in after a night of drinking. However, I really do prefer their sitdown location down by Coolidge Corner. read more

I was visiting Harvard for the day and needed to grab lunch. This was perfect. Nice big slices that were obviously hand-crafted and served hot. There isn't really any room to sit inside, but there is a fantastic patio right outside. I know they are known for their extravagant flavors, but I went simple with pepperoni and ricotta/basil. If I'm ever back in the area I'll be stopping here again. read more

I've had the Butternut Squash, Ricotta & Cranberry slice and the Ricotta and Basil slice. Both were good but I wasn't blown away by them. For me they could have been seasoned a little more aggressively and my Squash slice was a bit greasy. You can get gourmet slices with creative ingredients for around $3.50 a slice. They also have fresh iced tea and lemonade there but I haven't tried it. There are no tables here, just a small counter by the window with a few stools. They're cranking out pizzas all day to accommodate everyone so expect a line but know that fresh pizza is on its way. read more

Shared a butternut squash and ricotta pizza with some friends and we agreed it was underwhelming, but considering that people had described Otto's as if it was a gift brought down by the pizza gods, perhaps our expectations were too high. The pizza was dry and the crust was thin and almost cracked into pieces like you would expect a saltine cracker to do...in other words not very good. I did go in one night very late and got a slice of pork and mango and the bacon and scallion and they were both excellent so I will probably try them again as my memory of the triscuit crust fades away. read more

One of the best no-frills, cheap-and-quick lunch spots in Cambridge. For less than $10 you can get two slices of yummy specialty pizza and a root beer or iced tea (for Boston/Cambridge, this is a good deal), which you can eat either standing at the counter overlooking Harvard Square or at one of the cafe tables outside (look for the overly friendly bird who will say hi to you by hopping onto your table). Yes, it's tiny and not suited for dining in, but that's part of its charm. It's made to serve those on the go. (Related: there are no public bathrooms here, and I believe they only take cash. Plan accordingly.) They usually offer slices of 6-8 different pizzas at any given time--usually 4 meat options and 4 vegetarian options. Some specialty combinations: white bean, asiago cheese, red pepper; sausage and vidalia onion; chicken and basil; tortellini (yes, that's tortellini on pizza); mashed potato (yes, that's mashed potato on pizza). I prefer some options to others, but I've never had a bad slice here. Plus the people tend to be friendly and nice, and they have a punch card deal (buy 10 slices, get one free!) read more

This is by and large Boston's best speciality pizza joint, they have all sorts of unconventional combinations for their pizza (mango pulled pork really sticks out in my head). The biff dreams about their stuff, and eats it on the reg. I, on the other hand have had it once and was blown away. The Mashed potato, bacon and scallion will work wonders on your taste buds as well as other organs you didn't know could be affected by food. read more

YES to the butternut squash pizza. DOH to me being an idiot and not realizing the line outside Otto that day was for a FREE slice. I walked past the spot again an hour later when my stomach started growling at me, and was sadly informed of my inopportune timing. Will surely revisit Otto next time I'm back in HSquare, free pizza or not. read more

Love, love, love Otto Pizza. Thin crust, scrumptious sauce, high quality cheese, and inventive toppings. Swoon. Sometimes, the only thing getting me through the week are dreams of Friday evening which will invariably involve a couple of Ottos (eggplant/ricotta/basil & squash/ricotta/cranberries), a bottle of Italian red wine, and a catastrophic episode of MI-5 on Netflix. The only caveat--they don't deliver and driving to Harvard Square is a team effort requiring two people on a Friday night (so you can just pull up and not have to find a nonexistent parking spot). Please, Otto, get with it and get a few delivery people. read more

Reoccurring theme: Red Line Stop Harvard Sq at 1 am after grabbing drinks with friends. Nothing is open...oh wait, Otto pizza is. Can't resist the urge... 2 Slices of pizza to accompany me on my 20 min walk home. MMMM so good. -1 star because slices are a tad pricey, but it is delicous. read more

On a recent visit from Seattle, my son and I tried Otto's Pizza. Holy crap do they make good pizza! My wife is from New England and she's always telling me how East Coast pizza is better, and I never believed her, until now. We had lunch there, and liked it so much that we went back for dinner. There is no such thing as too much pizza. I only wish they wern't 3000 miles from my house. read more

Pulled Pork on a pizza... 100% yes. I dropped in here for a late evening bite on my way back to my hotel near Harvard Sq. I stood at the window counter, scarfing some of the best pizza I've had in years. Solid thin crust, great toppings, super fast. Absolutely check these guys out... just don't plan to stay long! read more

Maybe it's the New York pizza snob in me but Ottos just does not cut it. It's okay, but nothing about the cheese pizza stands out to me (and in my opinion the best way to judge a pizza place is by it's base, cheese pizza). There are really cool toppings offered though read more

Solid pizza with quite a variety to choose from! My bro was so kind to bring home several kinds including mushroom, ricotta & herb, mashed potato, bacon & scallion and pulled pork & mango. All were tasty though the latter was my favorite with its bright flavors and spice from the red pepper flakes. The crust, however, was pretty inedible even after heating the slices up in the oven. Worthy of 3.5 stars, but not enough for the bump up. read more

I associate New York and New Haven with the best pizza ever - but Otto makes me want to venture to Portland - or at least back to Harvard Square. There's always a long line, but it goes reasonably fast. The crust is paper thin, which is perfect, but it also means that you aren't going to be full with 1 slice. My favorite is the zucchini, summer squash, spinach - followed closely by chicken, mushroom and fontina. The butternut squash, ricotta and cranberry is filling. read more

Very good pizza and fun toppings!

I really don't wanna say any other words besides YUMMMMM. Tomato and basil slices are the best. Don't usually go on weekends, other than Sunday, but I usually don't have to wait in a long line. Friendly staff, quick service. read more

It's pretty amazing what Otto managed to do with the itty bitty Finagel a Bagel space. Ok, there's no indoor seating at this Otto but do you really need to sit to eat a quick slice? If you want a sit down experience, go to the Brookline or Boston (by BU) Ottos. I'm pretty sure this is my favorite pizza place ever, and I'm a connoisseur. The slices are huge, but you will definitely want at least two. Plain old pepperoni is my favorite. Try some of their housemade drinks, like Arnold Palmer and lemonade. read more

Really good $3 slices. No room to sit down if there are more than 3 people there. But grab a quick slice and take it to go, and it's perfect. Slices are good size, but not huge. So if you're hungry, get 2. Right across the street from campus, so quick and convent is the key here. read more

Otto Pizza seriously helped me save a few bucks before heading into Boston Calling Saturday afternoon. Otto Pizza is a perfect combination of "by-the-slice" casualness with insanely good brick-oven quality. For less than $10 I got a bottle of cane sugar root beer, a generous slice of margarita, and a slice of their special of the day, a "lasagna" flavored pie. Service was quick and friendly and they have a Square setup so you don't need to worry about having cash. We ate at the little outdoor table set up before walking to the festival where similar pizza cost almost three times as much. Will definitely pop in again the next time I'm looking for a bite to eat in Harvard Square. read more

Great pizza and I'm from NYC. Some interesting slices like chicken with pear which tasted much better than it sounds. Another slice with black beans and avocado was awesome. The regular slices were about average NYC slices which means they were good. read more

I take classes on Wednesday nights, my new routine is to grab a slice or two at Otto and have a picnic outside my classroom. The space is very small, just wide enough for 4 or 5 people to stand, though everyone is in the way of everyone else, people try to be friendly and helpful. There are 8 varieties of pie on offer every day, half of which are vegetarian. Periodically, the staff will announce the toppings, but there should be a better system. My favorite is the pulled pork and mango, but any of their white sauce or no sauce varieties are great. I don't like their tomato sauce very much, so avoid it when I can. The crust is thin and very crispy. Slices are $3/$3.50, so it's very affordable. read more

My husband is not a big pizza guy. But even he got excited looking at the menu. The menu was unique with very innovative topping. I was so confused because I wanted to try everything on the menu. The pizzas were really good, the flavors worked together and the base was thin crust which is our favorite kind of base. We had the Butternut squash, ricotta & cranberry pizza and Chicken, caramelized pears & fontina and both were really good. Must try pizza read more

Seriously one of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. Toppings are fantastic. Crust is delicious. Delivered on time and intact

Now let's be real people, I know times have changed but $3 slices is still kinda high for a slice of pizza, even with toppings... but with that said, I give Otto a great 4 star rating just cause of the creativity in their pizza slices which are real good by the way. I'll definitely be back to test out some new combo's, and primarily to stalk out that butternut squash slice, which is damn great. read more

Best pizza slice in Cambridge/Somerville. Thin, floppy, crispy, cheesy, fresh... just about every possible positive adjective that can be applied to pizza can be applied here. I just got a slice of the pepperoni because I was in the mood for something classic, but I couldn't help but check out the rest of the menu, and make mental notes of which funky flavors to order next time (the mango/pulled pork sounds awesome, as does the white bean/sausage/herb... there's definitely something for everyone!) The minus one star here is simply for a few aspects of convenience that leave a tad to be desired in this place. This place is ultimately best if you're looking to 'grab a slice on the go,' which I rarely am - I wish they had a bit more in the way of seating, especially come wintertime. I love eating my pizza fresh, but don't exactly love sitting at a tiny stool awkwardly staring at tourists walking by on Mass Ave, which is really your only option here if you don't want to take your slice to-go. Ohh, and a delivery option would be AWESOME, and would allow them to compete even more strongly with places like Upper Crust. Bottom line though - if you're looking for a seriously good slice of pizza, this is your place. read more

Mashed potato, bacon, and scallion. Awesome hours (Midnight on weekdays, 2am on weekends) for such a tiny store. We stumbled in at 11:55 on a Thursday night and oafishly asked the guy at the counter what pizza we should get. He suggested mashed potato, bacon, and scallion. We also grabbed the chicken basil. BOTH DID NOT DISAPPOINT. We sat outside on the bench with the homeless people and shoved the entire pizzas into our mouths in 10 seconds flat. The mashed potato, bacon, scallion pizza sounded like the weirdest combo ever but it was fantastic. I expected it to be dense and gunky (carb on carb? Did not sound promising), but the potatoes were surprisingly light and the crust had a great crunch. The chicken on the chicken basil was perfectly cooked and moist and had a surprising amount of flavor. Overall, Otto's far surpasses Upper Crust as the best pizza in Boston. It strikes a perfect balance between being a "high-end" and "$1 drunk pizzeria around the corner" pizzeria -- love it. read more

I would give a "0", my first time ordering from Otto. The delivery driver shows up with $100, $20 and three singles. So needless to say he did not have change for me to pay my bill. So he told me to call up and put it on a credit card, I had cash and did not want to do that so I told him to get change. Driver leaves with food and doesn't come back. Called to follow up and was told the driver was confused if I wanted the food and he would come back with it. Called back a second time to let them know I had change and was still waiting and was assured he was on the way. Another 30 min later I called and spoke with the Supervisor who insisted the order was cancelled. I NEVER cancelled my order, The Supervisor was unapologetic and didn't care to rectify the situation, this was mu first and last time ordering. read more

Fantastic pizza. I was surprised at how good their food was. The crust is perfect, the ingredients are fresh, and the recipes are perfect. I heard they're from Maine, and the only reason I got around to trying their food was because a colleague from Maine wouldn't stop hounding me to try it. I'm glad she did. Yep, after 3 years, I've finally found a good, go-to pizza join in Boston. read more

Otto's is clean, consistent and simple. Great location in Harvard Square. I love the lemonade. Every slice is the same price - $3.50 - so that's nice as well and you won't wonder what each different slice costs. Not much seating at this location, but apparently the one in Coolidge Corner will have more space when it opens soon. Thumbs up for being open late. I thought the pizza was good, but not amazing. Had a slice of mashed potato and a slice of cheese. Looking forward to trying it again. read more

Love this place. It's tiny but crammed full of delicious ooey gooey pizza in a variety of flavors. Get it by the slice or by the pie, but either way you'll be happy. (: Take your pizza to go though because it's horribly cramped in there. read more

Awesome little "hole in the wall" pizza place! Location & Ambiance: Great location on Harvards campus in a busy downtown area. The ambiance reflects a very college feeling place, and its definitely a great little shop. Also, the shop being smaller you wont have a place to sit and eat, so keep that in mine. There is standing room only! The Pizza: Well it is a pizza place, so lets talk about their food! They had a good constantly changing selection of pizza. You could buy it by the slice or by the pie. They grab it, toss it in the oven, and a few minutes later your enjoying a great slice. Service & Staff: Good staff, had a little chat and he was able to help me figure out the slices I wanted. They had some great recommendations. Overall, if your in the mood for pizza I would stop in! read more
