Just as delicious as the other location, but a heck of a lot more convenient. http://www.yelp.com/biz/otto-boston#hrid:tHcjHp4ZIFhjIgMYjzZi-w/src:self This place is perfect for a snack, a light dinner before trivia or meeting friends at a bar, or just a tasty treat. Their food is at once healthy, affordable, and decadent. Don't miss whatever they're serving with butternut squash on top! Only downside: not a lot of seating here, just one small bar and two tables outside. The hidden upside is that I always end up eating my pizza standing up next to a stranger and making new friends. Thanks, pizza dudes! read more

I pass by this place every day on my way home from work and it always has a line out the door. Last week I had to see what all the fuss was about. Now I know, The pizza is awesome! The flat, crispy crunchy crust, not too much cheese, delicious white or red sauce kind...yum! AND the staff are sooo nice. Like, almost impossibly nice. It's... well... nice! The place is take out or eat standing... sometimes there are a couple of tables outside. The Coolidge Corner location is dine in... which I'm excited to try. A great spot hailing from Maine. There's nothing not to love... a definite step up from other pizza shops in the area (ahem - the overrated Upper Crust). read more

Otto is more of a 3.5, but I'm not sure it's a restaurant I'd come back to especially with all the other pizza options in Boston (yay Pinocchio's!) That being said though, it's definitely not a place to sit down and dine. The place is pretty small and you basically order and dine on a counter, so I guess I'd view Otto as more of dine to go kind of place. The cashiers there are really nice though--I wasn't aware that there was a $5 minimum charge for credit card usage, but I bought a drink and the cashier was nice enough to let me use my credit card anyways. I stayed pretty safe and just got a pepperoni pizza, although they've got a ton of different options which is pretty cool. They grab the pizza you want and then stick it in an oven to heat it up. Decent pizza. I wouldn't say it's anything extraordinary, but it's an alright place to grab and go. read more

I always complain about Boston pizza. But now, I have a favorite place! I got a slice of their Tortellini pizza before I went to synagogue for Yom Kippur (where you fast for over 24 hours). The next day, when I got out of synagogue with my friend, I dragged her over to get another slice to end the fast. That's some miracle pizza! I also tried one of their drinks...don't remember if it was an Arnold palmer or raspberry lemonade? Either way, I really enjoyed it. It was hot, great crispy crust, loved the tortellini on top! Loved the sauce, as well. Can't wait to try some different slices! read more

To be fair, the pizza is decent. The butternut squash and potato bacon are my fav. That explains why I had pizza delivered for an event tonight. To my dismay, they were 40 minutes late. That wasn't bad enough. I wasn't going to tip him for his late service so I needed $15 dollars change. Otto's website specified that the delivery person has with him $20. The delivery person carried only $10 dollars with him and protested that he has no more cash. When I asked for the full change, he resisted. In the end, I was forced to tip him for such bad service. I do not care for the short change, but rather the delivery service was terrible. Otto was mildly helpful to say that the delivery guy had left the store, but nonetheless was unapologetic about it. read more

Ordered here a number of times, loved their gluten-free pizzas. Recently though quality is starting to lack; delivery used to be on time, pizza arrived fresh, now it's coming cold and soggy. Aside from that, great topping variety. I enjoy adding their pears and cranberries to the chicken pizza's. Tried the Pulled pork and mango recently and didn't like it, not sure but the mangos were sour; I was expecting something sweet. read more

Well they didn't have any slices of tortellini or squash pizza like I was looking for, so I ended up with chicken mango which wasn't that great reheated like all of their slices are. P got the sausage with caramelized onions and their red sauce was delicious so now I wish they had tortellini on display even more. I'll try them again at their other location, because I don't think it's fair to judge them totally on this one. read more

Ok.....that's it!!! I've found it. My favorite pizza place in Boston...well Cambridge. Crazy Dough, go over-charge someone else. 3 bucks a slice flat for the most amazing and creative pizza in the city. I had a ricotta and basil & a mango and pork; all I have to say is wow on both accounts. I wanted to keep going through the myriad of pizza slices but I am going to save the rest for another day....yum. They just opened and they are going to kill it. Thank you Otto. read more

I had heard great things about this place and so I stopped there to get a slice for my son. I asked the guy working if they ever made cheese-less pizzas, or would consider it. I mentioned that we had an upcoming staff meeting and were going to be buying a bunch of pizzas but one person in the office was vegan and one was lactose intolerant. He laughed, said "no" in a really rude way, and walked into the back area. It's one thing not to carry a product -- I get that; it's another to be that rude. I definitely will not be back and have told many co-workers and friends what happened. Otto, you seem to have a good product. Now just work on your customer service. UPDATE: After posting my review, I received a really nice e-mail from the manager of Otto, apologizing and saying that they could, in fact, easily accommodate vegans and folks who are lactose intolerant. Thanks, Otto! Looking forward to stopping in again! read more

I love Otto's Pizza. Fast, cheap (relatively), and innovative, this is my to-go place when I am on the run--or simply craving pizza. Its prime location, its good service, its simple pricing, and the crispy taste of thin crust, fresh and flavorful pizza all make Otto's four stars. The traditional red pizzas (especially margarita and three cheese tortellini) are always a safe (but still delicious) bet. Want something more exotic? White bean and sausage with red pepper flakes is always delicious--if you don't mind a bit of spiciness. The oddly sounding combination of butternut squash, craisons and ricotta? Otto's nails it. And pulled pork and mango? Oh my, it's absolutely amazing. read more

I am typically a fan of OTTO. Lots of fun, unique slices, and I like to grab a slice when the bus is taking forever to arrive. I'm a little weirded out by the slices that are left out in the open to sit, but I have sucked that up to me being a little annoyed by germs. However, today I went in to get a slice. I asked the girl at the counter what the slices were. She turned around and started to tell me, but she was interrupted by two sneezes. She was not quick enough to cover her mouth/nose with the first sneeze, so she sneezed in front of the pizzas on the right side (you might want to avoid those today). Also, she didn't wash her hands afterwards. Ick. read more

Dear Otto, Thank you for all accompanying me on various late night pizza cravings (ie. after a night out, after "studying"/"writing" for countless hours). Located conveniently next to the T entrance, you are always there and reliable to serve me delicious pizza (at least until 1 am or 2 am depending on the day). My favorite has to be the one with bacon and potato.. or really, just anything with bacon will satisfy my palate for excellent, delicious, late-night pizza. For $3.50 a slice, you make me very, very happy. Yours truly, the hungry grad student P.S. Please bring cash, minimum card purchase is $5.00. read more

Lots of options for $3.50 pizza by the slice, folks, including options like butternut squash ricotta cranberry and mushroom cauliflower. Good option for standing-room-only-scarf-it-down-and-run-to-class pizza (outdoor seating is very limited). read more

Thinking back on my last trip to Boston I suddenly remembered this awesome pizza I had at Harvard Square. My girlfriend and I decided that our first tourist stop for the day would be Harvard University. Strolling through that campus (and subsequently getting lost) can work up an appetite. Luckily we somehow strolled back into Harvard Square and practically bum rushed the food we saw, Otto Pizza. We ordered two slices and just shared them. We had the Otto Four Cheese and the Mushroom, Bacon, Vidalia Onion. The four cheese was good but it was clearly no match for the other slice. Then again you throw bacon on anything and its automatically better anyway. All slices no matter how plain or how complex are all about $3. We enjoyed our slices sitting outside on one of the two tables right by the door. The sidewalk was so busy with people going and coming. This is a great place for people watching. This place for some reason didn't remind me of a pizzeria at all. It was slightly bigger then a hole-in-the-wall joint but it was homey and inviting. What's more weird was that it was so quiet inside compared to the hustle and bustle just outside. read more

We ate at this tiny pizza place after a visit to the Natural History Museum nearby, and I'm glad we did! The butternut ricotta cranberry pie is delicious, and prices are reasonable. It is a small space though, and seating outside is limited. There are a couple benches nearby that we made use of. read more

Oh Otto, my man, I wish I could say I loved this place more as its accessibility in Harvard Square is a gem! Alas, it really is hit or miss. Sometimes you walk in and get a great slice with fresh ingredients, cheese, tomatoes, the whole deal, and other times you get the leftovers, reheated. The one good thing about Ott's is their originality with their slices, you get some really fun, sort of quirky ideas, and if you walk in it's usually $3, take your pick. So for $3 after a few drinks, a delicious slice may be just what you need, good thing they are open late! Besides their unique slices and location, not a whole lot to get excited about. Try it once, if its your deal, keep coming back. I'll warn you, it REALLY is hit or miss. My opinion, if you're up late in Harvard Square, make you way one block over to Felipe's Taqueria, they're open till 2, and my personal favorite! read more

Great place for a slice. They do have a counter-top in the window and a few tables outside when the weather's decent but this is largely a grab and go joint. Perfect for walking around campus, running to class, whatever. Loads of rotating varieties so won't opine on what I've had since it's likely it won't be there next time. But the dough is crisp and thin, has a nice yeastiness to it and will leave you covered in dust. Cheap, too. Oh and once I saw a group of Japanese tourists drop $100+ in here. Which is impressive at $3-4/slice. read more

I stopped in on my way to take the T for a quick dinner bite. I was intrigued by its claim to be from Portland, Maine. The shop is tiny with not place to sit. There is a small bar by the window that about 3 people can stand and eat at. The pizza was okay. Nothing to write home about. In fact, the crust was quite hard and inedible. The pizza is served on flimsy paper plates that make it nearly impossible to walk and eat. So the meal ended up being quite inconvenient after all. Of note is there interest flavor combinations. I would give this place another try but was not impressed by my initial experience. read more

Otto is definitely one of my favorite Harvard Sq. area lunch options during the work week. Thankfully it's on the opposite side of the Square from my office, or I'd likely be here way more often than my pants would appreciate. The pizza varieties offered by the slice are constantly changing, so if you don't see anything you like you can always wait 5 minutes to see what comes out next. They seem to do a pretty good job of keeping an even selection of vegetarian & meat options available at all times, for those who might be worried about such a thing. Thanks to this constant circulation of new choices I've managed to try 6 or 7 different types over the course of my 5 or so lunchtime visits to Otto. A couple of standouts have been the Butternut Squash, Ricotta & Cranberry and the White bean, Sausage, Herb & Red Flake. The crust is very thin and can sometimes be verging on "too crispy", but the rest of the quality ingredients and flavorful toppings have always made up for it in my opinion. The prices here are very reasonable for the area, as you can walk out with two large slices for $7.00 or so. I've never tried any of their (seemingly) homemade Iced Teas or Arnold Palmers, but they look pretty good and I'd be willing to bet they'd go well with a slice on a hot day. I'd like to see a little more organization in the ordering process on busy days, and it would also be an improvement to have the slices heated up a bit longer than they typically do (at least on days when it's NOT terribly busy). I imagine I'll come here less as we head into winter's deep freeze and the thought of trudging through the snow at lunch time becomes a chore, but Otto will definitely stay on my lunch go-to list. In fact, I plan on checking out the Portland location over the holidays - let's see if the original can stack up against it's baby sibling here in Cambridge! read more

Great thin-crust pizza. Sure, it's on the expensive side but it's great. They have a bunch of vegetarian options. Only tip would be if you do not like olives do not get a pizza with olives because they slice them really thin so the flavor really gets into the slice (versus olive slices you can easily take off and barely notice). Interesting combos of flavors and great crust texture (really crunchy) Super small -- do not expect eat there--they have a small counter but the door is always opening so it's not really comfortable. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but, as my wife and I left Otto last night, we both agreed we won't be going back. The space is small and confused, the slices are overpriced ($3.50/slice), pizza options oscillate between quite good and massively over-reaching (sorry, guys, but mango slices on pizza? Really?), and, my personal pet peeve, all the drinks they serve are in cans or bottles and they don't have a recycling bin...in Harvard Square! While I'm sure the access to the Harvard student body in the Square will ensure this place will likely do well, if you want some exceptional pizza you may have to look elsewhere. read more

I love pizza. Sadly, pizza usually doesn't love me back. You see, I have an allergy to tomatoes and foods derived from them, which makes most by-the-slice pizza off limits. When I want pizza, I have to order a whole pie, wait around for it to be made, and then I usually end up devouring too much. Sure, every little corner pizzeria in NYC has a white pizza slice available, but up here in Boston it's pretty much unheard of. So while at the recent Mayfair in Harvard Square, I walked around to the street booths in search of something to eat. For some strange reason, easily half of the temporary dining options were Indian and therefore off limits (see: tomato allergy). And then, like an oasis appearing in the Sahara, Otto appeared before me. Wasn't this a Finagle A Bagel just a few months ago? With multiple non-tomato slices available (and generously large slices for a reasonable $3), I dove in with a mushroom/cauliflower creation. Looking up at the menu, nearly half of Otto's pies are topped with things other than tomato sauce. I feel like I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth making any suggestions to this place, but the crust was rather crunchy and personally I prefer a more doughy crust - I like to pick it up by the edge and have the other end droop down. read more

Although some pizzas can be exceptional, generally pizza in general is usually already 4 stars for me. Except for this place. I felt like this pizza is 80% sauce 20% cheese. This seems to be true regardless of the kind of slice you get. Being a girl who can consume a whole pie in one sitting, I think it speaks for itself telling that I ate half of one slice and threw the rest away. read more

Ordered twice and was thoroughly disappointed with the service both times. First time, ordered online and the wait time was almost two hours. No courtesy call -- had to check in every 30 min to get the status. Second time, ordered in store and after waiting 20min (was told order would be ready in 15mins), found out they hadn't started my pizza and would take another 12mins. When I canceled, one of the pizza makers announced "he doesn't want to wait so cancel his order"... no apologies or excuses. Decent taste, esp for GF pizza, but poor service. read more

One of the Best Pizza spots in Boston Area! I occasionally make my way to Harvard Sq. just to walk around, by myself, read some books at Harvard Yard or any of the coffeeshops, take a look at books at bookstores. Generally I do not take T to Harvard Sq. but rather get there by walking. And as I walk to and around the square I get hungry each time. Well this place is my first choice when I am hungry in Harvard Sq. Their pizza is really great. All of them by far delicious, ingredients are fresh and flavorful, service is awesome and the unique ambience really appeals me each time. Their pies are really crispy in the edges but tender and tender and moist in the center with perfect chewiness. I really appreciate their consistency in that quality each time and definitely recommend to others. PS: Their "ricotta and basil" pizza is phenomenal btw. read more

I had a slice of butternut squash-ricotta-cranberry pizza, and "where have you been all my life". It was amazing--the crust reminded me right off of a grilled cheese sandwich, crispy and buttery. (But after I finished, I realized my hand was not greasy. I noticed one little dot of grease on the paper plate as I threw it away before I took a bite.) There is no seating--just a five-foot length of counter you can stand at, but I ate mine while walking. As I was really, really enjoying it, I tried to remember the ingredients. I could taste the cranberry, but the rest of it just melded so well that I couldn't tell. I would not have gotten it if "ricotta" had registered with me when the very nice and helpful server told me, because I don't even like ricotta! (I just chose what looked the most interesting.) I'm not going to drop $3.50 on a slice of pizza very often, but now I know the best. read more

This place just opened in Harvard Square. Awesome pizza and open very late on weekends (I think till 2am), which is ideal for those post drinking hunger pains. Seriously just taking one look at their pies you can tell they aren't kidding around, they are making some authentic goodness. read more

Fast + Cheap + Yummy + Awesome Ingredients + Pizza = Otto's Yup, thank goodness for a place with good fast easy to pick up pizza in Harvard! There is just so much bland boring cheap greasy pizza out there, so I was so excited to try this new spot in Harvard and the flavors on those pizzas were awesome! Mashed potato, bacon and scallions? Mango and pulled pork? Apple bacon and red onion?? Yes, please! The pizzas here are not your ordinary pizza which I totally appreciate. You can buy by the slice or even call in an order for a whole pizza ahead of time if you want to take it back for a meeting or something too, either way it is pretty affordable fun pizza! There is definitely no room to sit--a few random chairs/benches outside, but for pizza on the go, as long as you can stand the heat inside this place while you wait in line (I feel so badly for the people who work there!! especially now that the humidity is coming along!), this place is definitely worth a little pizza drive by for. And if you drive by, be prepared with a few choices you may want because they don't always have a pizza ready with the toppings you want, but trust me that almost any slice you get here will be pretty darn tasty. read more

This place is amazing. I had a slice of roasted cauliflower and mushroom pizza and it was the best slice of pizza I have ever had. Ever. OTTO - Roasted cauliflower and mushroom pizza - Pizza Near Me - Cambridge, Massachusetts

The problem with this location in Harvard Square is always the same; the counter staff are young, not trained in how to deal with customers in a polite and respectful way. I ordered hours beforehand, waited my turn in line to pay and pickup, which is normal, however, the person on the register had no idea how to ring in my order, she asked another server to help her, which is fine....then after she got help, I payed. She then proceeded to ring out all the other customers who came in after me and left my pies sitting behind the counter. I waited patiently and then asked if I could have my pies so I could leave(almost 10 mins to pick up pre-ordered pies, that were ready and sitting there) I tried to talk to the server who was getting me my pies and they proceeded to get unprofessional with me, cutting me off mid-sentence, shouting over me "she is very busy, she is very busy...." I tried to say I understood that but I was unsure why I still had to wait again for her to ring out a line of people who came after me when my already paid for pies were right there! OTTO, you should invest in training your staff at this location to be courteous and professional, know how to treat customers and not be impolite and aggressive when a customer wants to speak about an order. read more

Came here for lunch a couple of times. Really enjoyed the place. Slices have unique and good flavors and are about $3. Slices are fairly big and two would definitely be enough for lunch. My favorite slice there is the mashed potato bacon and scallion pizza, similar to a baked potato. Service is quick there and are friendly. Probably will head there in the sometime near future. read more

I was hungry around 11 p.m. in the area, and everything was of course closed, and I did not feel like eating food at a bar. Otto's saved the night. I had a mushroom cauliflower pizza, and for mushroom lovers it was as expected for fresh mushrooms on pizza. The other one I tried was the eggplant ricotta basil pizza. Wow, globs of ricotta are okay by me. Would have preferred more eggplant on it, but it was delicious nonetheless. Friends had the mashed potato pizza and swore by it. $3.50 a slice, it's a steal for the quality of pizza you get. An extra plus for the thin crust. Place is small, only a bar table to stand at that can fit 7 or so, and 2 or 3 tables outside. Surprised it doesn't get higher reviews. I suppose frozen boxed up pizza is more of their style. Shameful. P.S Please come to Southern California. I promise you'll be a big hit! read more

I would have posted this sooner but I had to lick the greasy charred bits of cornmeal crust off my fingertips first. Now, hands freshly washed, here's the scoop: The #9 (cranberries, ricotta, butternut squash) is amazing. It tastes even better than it looks, and it's the prettiest pizza I've seen this side of New Haven. (Mmmmmmmm, Pepe's. But that's another Yelp review.) The #22 (apple, bacon and red onion) is also really, really good. Fun game to play: close your eyes and try to tell whether that crunchy thing you're biting into is a bit of onion (which gets sweeter as the pie bakes) or a bit of apple (which soaks up the flavors of onion and bacon). The #23 (mango, chicken and red chili flake)... meh, not so much. If you had asked me before I ate it to make a list of the fifty adjectives I would be most likely to use to describe the slice, I would not have put "bland" on the list... but it was bland. (How can mango and red chili flake be bland?!? But, somehow, they did it.) Also, although it seems like a slice joint, really the very best way to eat their pie is to order a whole pie and then pick it up and eat it fresh. The reheated slices /are/ really good... the fresh pie is even better. By a significant margin. Yum. Otto's makes me happy to live southwest of Harvard Square (meaning I get out at the Church Street T exit rather than the main Harvard Square exit) (meaning I essentially pass Otto's on my way home from work) (meaning that I have spoiled almost every home cooked meal I have ever eaten since moving here because how I am not supposed to get a slice on the way home?). read more

All aspects of this place are against pizza common sense. They don't serve slices fresh from the oven. They purposely cool them down and reheat when ordered. Their excuse is that the pizza is too flimsy- I'd rather have flimsy fresh pizza than reheated leftovers anyday. Their crust is as with all new-england type of crust- flimsy flaky with no fight or stretch. Perfect for denture wearers. So why would anyone want leftover pizza with a saltine-cracker crust? Goto Picco or Posto for real fresh pizza, though denture wearers beware. read more

Otto has a forced cool kids vibe. It's a franchise so how much can it be? Still it's good enough that I'll jive. Harvard kids can't you see? The soft tip crust... just like a limp dick. Sure toppings are good but what a rip off. I would rather it be spoiled for me to get sick. Otto is... cough cough! read more

I have a crush on Otto. It's tasty, creative, fast, filling and cheap. My favorite is the Butternut Squash, Ricotta & Cranberry--simple yet flavorful & delicious. The Pulled Pork & Mango and White Bean, Sausage, Herb & Red Flake are also very good. The Mushroom & Cauliflower was not very good but worth a shot. Yes, the place is tiny but the line moves quickly & the staff is friendly and works fast so I have no problem stopping in & getting my slice to go. Its a bit annoying that they don't keep more options fully stocked & the selection is not always great but they are busy so the move a steady amount of product and I can't fault them for that. In the end its my new favorite pizza stop in Harvard Sq & I will keep coming back for more. read more

I adore OTTO pizza! One of my good friends introduced me to OTTO a few years ago, and I've never looked back. Although I have been to a handful of different OTTO locations, the Harvard Square shop is the one I tend to visit the most, since it's the closest one to where I live. I have never had a bad experience here, and the staff is always so kind. If you've ever been to OTTO, you'll know that they're known for having unique pizza combinations, rather than just cheese and pepperoni. Since the pizza types are sometimes unidentifiable, the employees are usually patient when it comes to telling you which type of pizza is which, and repeating themselves more than once if needed and without the sass. The slices are around $3 each, and they are definitely worth the price. The portion is fair and the quality is superb. The ingredients taste so fresh, and so it definitely feels like a gourmet meal. The wait time is never long, and they are always willing to heat up the pizza for you so it's nice and fresh. At this location, they have outdoor seating, and a long table inside if you want to stand and eat. read more

Anthony at Ottos could not have been more welcoming, and his pizza is remarkably balanced: it will challenge and comfort the palate. I was disappointed when they didn't have the famous mango pork slice available, thus I went for a basil ricotta slice, which did very little for me. I may have to go back at some point and try a different slice. And Otto, please-- put up some signs to ID what slices you have for show! Your combinations are so unique, without psychic abilities, there's no way a curious customer could just guess. I read some reviewers fell victim to the salt shaker/ parmesan cheese mix up-- FYI, Otto now has the salt shaker clearly marked as salt! read more

A great slice of pizza. I'm a huge fan of Pinocchio's but I might be an Otto convert. I grabbed a slice after a late night of work in the area and it hit the spot. The long line moved really fast -they definitely have a system. During late night hours they only offer cheese or pepperoni. Nice big triangle slices that are not too crunchy, not too chewy, and not runny/floppy but still juicy. The sauce is not too sweet: it tastes like it has stewed tomatoes which gives the sauce a fuller flavor. Some people like crunchy crust and some people like fluffier crust. This crust is balanced and I think even fussy pizza fans will enjoy Ottos. There is no space to sit inside really... Just a window bar. There is a good amount of outdoor seating right outside ottos and also in Harvard square. A solid pizza pick. Also, the staff at ottos is much nicer and pleasant than Pinocchio's!! read more
