Enjoyed our date night very much. Intimate and gorgeous interior. Staff was professional and experienced. Bartenders were absolutely slammed but still crushed it. Food was great, would definitely be happy to go back.

I met a friend for an early lunch over the weekend at OV. Since the weather was beautiful that day, we decided to sit outside in the covered patio area. We did walk inside to check in for our reservations and the interior was rustic and plenty of seating. Our waitress (forgot her name), was attentive, helpful and welcoming. We decided to spilt the dishes- burrata salad (very fresh), percorino plate- a tad messy and sticky from the honey, but tasty, and the cacio e pepe. The pasta seemed a bit overcooked- but to be fair, this was my first time trying it so not sure if that's how it is supposed to be. There's parking on the street. Even though we came early, there weren't too many open spots. But if you have a reservation, definitely leave enough room to find parking.

My nephew and niece took my sister and me to Ottava Via for a belated Mother's Day celebration. They have been there many times, but it was the first time for us. First, the place is so welcoming. Several different rooms as well as the outside patio, which has bocce ball. It was too warm & humid for us, so we sat inside at a table near the bar. The servers were all very friendly; it seemed a different person brought each course. We had the bread service and calamari for an appetizer. The bread and herb butter were very good, and I understand that it does cost the restaurant to serve it, but $7 seemed like a lot to me. I also enjoyed the calamari. I had the pasta Bolognese (they had some other name for it), which is one of my favorite kinds of pasta. This did not disappoint. I loved the super wide papardelle noodles (also a favorite!) and the small scoop of cheese (burrata, maybe?) on top. My sister had the mushroom pizza (also with a different name). She enjoyed it as well. I am glad they decided to take us there; it was all very good and in a nice atmosphere as well.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. They don't do walk ins, but despite it being a Saturday night, we were able to get a table for 8 within minutes. The restaurant has a good amount of seating. Our server was fantastic, answering all of our questions about drinks, features, and soup of the day. All of the staff were very friendly, saying hello and asking how we were. I ordered the virgin fresh fruit smash to drink, and it was refreshing. I thought the NA champagne added a nice touch. I was happy with this selection as good mocktails are sometimes hard to find and are generally more basic. The food here is excellent! We decided to get some small plates to share. We went with the bread service and the bread was light and fluffy and came with a whipped butter that melted in nicely. We also ordered the arancini because who doesn't love a good fried rice ball and they were delicious. My friends and I also shared the Caesar salad, which came with anchovy and a breaded hard boiled egg. I loved the savory flavor these ingredients added. For my main I had the feature, which was rainbow trout with a creamy sauce paired with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. This dish was phenomenal! The portion was big and the fish was light. I loved the crispy skin on it. My friend was celebrating her birthday, so they brought out a cannoli for her for dessert!

The food was delicious and was served quickly! We got the pesto pasta and Salsiccia pizza. The pasta was so yummy and had a little crunch, which we liked. The pizza was perfectly cooked and had sausage and peppers. Great ambiance in the restaurant. Would love to come back to try other dishes!

What went well? What didn't??? I've heard of them for years. But last night was my first time visiting. As I was meeting others, I arrived early to enjoy the bar experience. The bartender was welcoming and very knowledgeable about both the cocktail and food menu. I loved how intimate it felt with dim lighting and music playing in the background! I love scratch kitchen restaurants. I just wish I actually had an appetite. The arancini was ok. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. I definitely want to visit again.

Menu and the Penne Alla Arrabbiata with chicken and shrimp

Tried this place on opening day for the first time. I knew there would be a wait. At first, they said 45 mins to an hour. Not bad, so I put my name on the list. I received a text saying I was on the list and the wait was 1 hour, 15 mins. We walked around, had cocktails elsewhere before receiving a call an hour and a half later offering a table outside. It had gotten chilly out so we passed on the outside table, but when we did, they said it would be another hour! We went back and they had completely forgotten about getting us a table. They rectified it by giving us the next available table. Our server was Emily and she was awesome. I ordered the Penne Alla Arrabbiata with chicken and shrimp. Tasty and enjoyable but lacked enough noodles. Over all, I would go again and continue to try more items on the menu and definitely sit in Emily's section again!

Okay, the service was pretty solid and my food came out in less than five mins. That would be great if you were at a fast casual chain but in this case not so much. I ordered a lemon butter noodle dish and it wasn't very memorable. The noodles had the consistency of Campbells chicken noodle soup and that's all I ll say. Besides that, the bread was cool. The experience overall was fine but not anything out of this world.

    Cacio e Pepe with chicken
    Nick G.

One of the best Cacio e Pepe I've had since Italy! Best part--they offer optional protein (got the grilled chicken.) Also had their calamari, soooooo goooooood. So glad I went. Friendly staff and great casual ambiance ideal for hanging out with friends.

    Burrata caprese...refreshing.

After a morning of meetings in downtown Detroit, we found Ottava Via thanks to fellow Yelpers. We started with the bread service, and it came out warm from the oven with a generous portion. A perfect beginning. I ordered the burrata caprese, which was refreshing and light. The heirloom tomatoes were sweet and bright, and the balsamic had a nice balanced tang. I do wish the portion of burrata was slightly larger. Arancini is one of my favorite dishes, and not every Italian restaurant offers it, so this was a treat. I really enjoyed it, and you could taste a subtle hint of prosciutto in the filling. Our server, Claudia, was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We will definitely return the next time we are in Detroit.

Going with 4 because I cant fully give a 3 or 5. Visited on the 31st for lunch. The greeter wasnt super friendly but maybe the dreary day was getting to him but because he was in a conversation with someone when we arrived he looked pestered. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was spectacular! We enjoyed their tuscany potatoes and several pasta dishes as well as a tiramisu roll-up which was like a swiss roll. Prices were reasonable and it seems like everyone was happy with portions except me, but that could just be me. The seating area has worn-but-warm feel to it, some little knick-knacks could go but overall it was nice. Table was clean on top but could use some detailing on the edges. I did observe a man working the bar serving a woman who I believe ordered a soup, when he was at the kitchen station to pick up the food he grabbed a spoon, inspected it, and polished it with his thumb instead of a cloth and gave it to the customer for her meal. I was pretty grossed out by that but didn't bring it to anyones attention, which I probably should have. They also have a cool courtyard with seating, a wood stove, and two bocci lanes

First time at Ottava Via in years...it definitely didn't disappoint. Glad we had a reservation as they were packed at 5:30 on a Friday. Place is lively but cozy. We shared a chopped salad and got our own pizzas. They were done perfectly...no flop and perfect crisp. Sauce was great. Service was very nice as well. Definitely one of the best pizzas in the Detroit area.

Food was definitely good but I was disappointed by the portion size. It looks like a lot but it was not. Without the protein it would not have been filling at all. Just disappointed based on the price point too. Service was good though, our waiter was really nice! And I liked the look of the restaurant, it had a lot of cool decor. Overall good but not the spot if you're really hungry.

    How is the pasta?

To be honest, I love this restaurant, but their pasta is not the best! The Margherita pizza is my fave along with small plates: shrimp, bruschetta, broccoli.

I don't know what this man's intentions were, but he could've came up to me and just simply asked "are you doing okay? is there anything i can do for you?" instead of scooping me out as if i was getting ready to commit a crime. as I spend more time being back in my home in Detroit, i'm just not understanding why it's too difficult to receive decent and humane customer service. i'm just in complete concern & dismay due to this experience, do so much better.

For a starter, the cashew Caesar salad ($8) was ordered. It came with mixed greens, house-made cashew Caesar dressing, fried shallots, and vegan parmesan. This was very tasty. It was unique with the fried shallot addition. The dressing was just enough. It all appeared very fresh and crisp. The cheese had somewhat of an odd texture, but not a big deal. For a meal, the lobster roll pizza ($45) was ordered. This was so unique that it had to be tried. It came with 6 oz. wild caught lobster, herb crème fraiche, celery and onion brunoise, Cape Cod chips, and chives with drawn butter and lemon. This was very rich, so the addition of the lemon juice and crunchy chips really helped offset that. It was also heavy due to the components incorporated. The lobster appeared fresh and there was plenty of it. The butter was not even needed, but solid for a slight dip. The crème fraiche was solid and different. The crust was crispy and great too. Will I go back? I would, yeah.
