I especially liked that you could order food and eat in the lil Cafe area instead of the restaurant if you wanted to. Pastries are made by a local baker. Coffee and Matcha was yummy. Price was average. I really liked the pozole! I did find it weird that they gave us tortillas instead of pan with it. Tortillas were extra chewy for our liking... bread/pan was delish! I liked the fish taco but the tortilla wasn't my fave. I will definitely be returning! We stopped by for breakfast/brunch and loved it. The location is great- ample parking out front and behind the restaurant. The inside is casual, comfy yet refined in a rustic wood sort of way. We were seated right away and our server was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with any questions we had. My husband ordered the chicken pho, I ordered the Barbacoa and Eggs (barbacoa, two eggs, beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, fire-roasted salsa, served with tortillas). We also ordered a chicken taco and fruit for our daughter. The chicken was flavorless but my daughter enjoyed it and ate plenty off my plate as well. I really liked the barbacoa and would definitely get it again. The chicken pho was just okay, the chicken also being pretty flavorless. I've been coming here for many years, since they opened, and can honestly say I haven't had one bad meal or experience here, which for a restaurant is rare, especially these days post-Covid when meals are skimp and service too. Not here, Otro Cafe has great portions, flavors, and staff is friendly and helpful. They're usually busy but they always manage to provide great service. They offer extra chips and salsa to go at the end of the meal for you and never rush you out. The food is consistent through the years and always comes out of the kitchen piping hot and delicious. Great burritos, tacos, guac, homemade green salsa. I always leave full, with some extra to bring home. Loved this place for a delicious brunch! We had an excellent time at this restaurant and the food was delicious. It can get pretty busy so it's recommended to arrive early. We waited about 40 minutes for a table, but the food was worth it. I had a very good breakfast burrito and the papas fritas. I also had a lemonade that wasn't the best, but the food was. We tried the dulce de leche flapjacks and loved it. Our group also had the frittata which was well received and the barbacoa with eggs as well as the huevos rancheros which looked great. They have a great cafe de olla, although you have to get up yourself and go order it from the coffee counter near the entrance. The service was quick and friendly and the restaurant was clean and had great music. I would definitely come back to try some of the other menu options as so many things sounded like they would be delicious. The food was also vibrant and fresh and smelled incredible, they had a ton of options for appetizers, entrees and dessert. There is plenty of parking in the back and some parking up front. When both areas are full, the restaurant is located in a larger shopping plaza so there were spots nearby too. They also seem to have a happy hour after 3pm and a ton of cocktail options which we did not try but I would come back for since they seemed to have a variety. I would even come back for the same burrito I had, it was very good. I look forward to trying this place again and trying new items. I took 10 people here for brunch 4/7/24 as a going away party before I moved from AZ to NC. Everyone enjoyed the food and it was very reasonably priced. The service was decent...but not great. One of my guests hadn't gotten her meal when everyone else had and another guest went to fetch the server. I specifically chose the location because one of my favorite singers was performing here. The music set up was in the lobby and we really couldn't see or hear her. But I'm glad we went to support her gig nonetheless. I called and asked for a reservation about a week before because at one point I thought I was going to have about 20 people. The manager I spoke to was not rude but insistent that they don't take reservations. I mentioned that one of the families coming had an elderly person and one person was visually impaired. Could I just at least reserve one table for four? Nope... I thought, wow, girlfriend...you have zero wisdom. I get following the rules, but if ever there was a time to bend the rules and accommodate someone it would be for older and visually impaired people. Luckily, my guests were very gracious about waiting for a table. I think the hostess' name was Jordan...anyway, I hope it is because she was very sweet and accommodating. When I got there I told her there were 11 of us and she seemed very reassuring that they'd get us a table and we didn't end up having to wait very long. All I wanted from the manager when I called was some assurance that they'd do their best to seat a large party when I got there (if they couldn't make a reservation). She told me to get there early because there was usually a line out the door when they opened. The thing is, they opened at 8:00 am and my guests were arriving around 11:00 am. I ended up getting there around 10:15 am. But seriously, how could I show up when the door opened and wait 3 hours? I get that people are flaky and don't show up for reservations, but in this case, I think the manager could have been friendlier and more accommodating, like at least to reassure me that they'd do their best to get us seated vs making me nervous that we wouldn't all get seated together. If I wasn't going here to see the singer, I would have chosen another location to have brunch. I'd describe the manager's attitude as "defensive" and she should have been "accommodating" or "friendlier" even if they couldn't make a reservation. I spent over $300 and left a generous tip. Customer service starts way before someone even gets to the restaurant, so I'm giving this place a 2-star rating because the service was sub-par, except for the hostess...who I really appreciated. read more

My friends had the shrimp ceviche, the shrimp bowl, and the naco torta. The vegan burrito was filling. It was spicy. Everything was spicy. Not where you couldn't tolerate it, but your nose may run spicy. You do have to pay for your chips and salsa. We gladly paid for the them. The chips were thick and crunchy. We opted to get seated in the cafe area since there would've been a wait on the restaurant side. The cafe area is cute and it's essentially an extension of the restaurant anyway, including table service. Their dishes are Mexican style/inspired, and there were so many options that looked good. Came here on a mid day Saturday for brunch because of their great reviews on Yelp but had issues with both the food and service. They serve brunch from 8am-4pm and they have a dinner menu after 4pm. Breakfast is served all day which is pretty nice. Server never brought chips and salsa after she had said she'll be back with it. Their classic margarita was really sour and bitter so the next drink I just ordered an orange mimosa to be on the safe side. The sampler breakfast was cold like it sat in the kitchen for a while before it got to our table and there were tiny pieces of egg shells on the flap jack. Potatoes were bland and the eggs weren't cooked over easy as I asked for. My boyfriend got the chilaquiles with barbacoa and that was on fire but thought it was a little steep on price. The bread was a little difficult for me as I currently don't have my dentures... but I can't hold that against them. I was drawn here by a friend's report that the pancakes are very good. So, I had to try one. I asked for a Berry Pancake (our waitress was delighted that I did) and WOW!!! SO WONDERFUL!! Perfectly cooked with slightly crunchy edges, and a little doughy on the inside. Just the right amount of berries and berry syrup. The maple syrup had a strong, dark maple flavor. I have never really cared for pancakes, but clearly I've never had a good one... I would order multiple times a month and sometimes take my staff there for lunch because of food is so great however I had the worse experience with the server and the manager I couldn't believe the service. Every time I've gone, they serve you chips and this particular time when I asked they refused and said we have strict policy and no chips. And I insisted that every single time they have served it for years and I'm not making this up. The manager said maybe the other servers were new and did not know the rule . The place was busy on a Saturday morning as there were already people waiting to be seated but it wasn't a ridiculous wait time as we were seated after 10 minutes. The place was family friendly with a casual vibe. We ordered Huevos Rancheros, Chilaquiles, Barbacoa & Eggs, and Caldo De Pollo. Food was delicious and loved the green sauce they provide in every table! We definitely enjoyed the food and the food did fairly arrive quickly. However, our server was alright. There really wasn't much of a greeting. She took the order, swung by to give water every now and then. We felt like the busser was more approachable. The busser was nice and attentive. There were definitely times we felt like we had to flag down our server. I was a server at one point and how you approach your customer sets the mood of the overall experience. Kept hearing about this place and decided to stop by on Labor day. Got there around 10:30ish and they were BUSY! overhead the wait for a table to eat was about an hour. Not sure if they are always this busy but be prepared if they are. I waited in line for the cafe for about 20 minutes but got to admire the inside. Opted for the cajeta latte iced with oat mill. The barista was very sweet despite them being packed and busy. My coffee was really good and was the perfect start to my day, very sweet yet balanced out with the oat milk. Parking is tricky, but they have parking in the back as well! Only gave 4 stars as I am very interested in trying their sit down diner to eat some of their food. Overall, will most definitely be back and can't to try more off their menu. read more

Love this local gem. A bit hidden amongst a strip mall, but you can't miss its big, blue sign. I'm always warmly greeted upon entering. The staff is always very engaging and willing to help in quick refills and/or clearing the table. The decor is simple yet urban and includes highlighting local artists. The music is always eclectic and good, but...a bit too loud IMHO. The food is SO fresh and delicious. My favorite is the shrimp ceviche. The servings are very generous and prices are reasonable. My daughter, who lives near this restaurant, has been wanting to go for their highly acclaimed pancakes. Well we finally made it there for Sunday brunch, and I'm so glad we did! We've been here before for coffee in the attached cafe, and the coffee drinks are great, as is the service behind the counter. But this time, we did both the cafe and the restaurant. Our party of five all ordered something different and we all shared/tried everything: breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, blueberry flapjacks, and the sampler platter. Every single thing was well-executed, tasty, and done to our liking. Everything from the tortillas to the Schriener's chorizo, to the Noble bread tasted authentic and delicious. I LOVE when restaurants use and promote local purveyors, and this one certainly does. And you can taste the difference. And, YES! The flapjacks more than lived up to the hype. They were plate-sized, thick, fluffy, and made to order, with the berries of your choice. So, so good! It was busy on Sunday morning, as expected, but the wait was fast when you can order coffees from the cafe while you wait. (But you have to try to avoid the temptation to order all the delicious-looking pastries in the case. We did get some for later, and wow...the pistachio dark chocolate chip cookie, the oatmeal cream cookie, and the pumpkin seed muffin -- pastry chef's kiss!) Our server, Carlos, could not have been friendlier or more patient, even though the restaurant was clearly busy. Y'all this place is the BOMB!!! I originally came here because I like to try different coffee shops and since it was connected to a brunch place I thought well why not? Well the coffee place ended up being mid (not terrible but not amazing), whereas the brunch was delicious! So it ended up being a happy little accident. Normally for Mexican food my expectation is the nicer the place the more mid the food ends up being (example barrio queen, nice interior but mid food, and then you go to a hole in the wall with fucking rats and they end up having the best carne asada ever).
