Nice location for drinks and hanging out. There are tables for large groups. Very at home feel. Service was good, even with just one waiter/bartender and one cook. Had fish & chips, not bad. I did enjoy my lunch. Semi pricey if not the happy hour prices.

We went for the Salo Salo pop up and found you could order off either menu or both which was awesome! We ordered from both. They have a great selection of vegetarian options and unique cocktails. The server was friendly and attentive and the service was really fast which was great as we were headed to a show after. The restaurant is very modern but fun and I would definitely come back for either the OG or the Salo Salo menu items and drinks.

RW Bibingka Corn Bread - 4 Stars

We went to Otium for the Salo Salo Filipino food pop-up. We were greatly looking forward to this meal as hubby is Filipino, and we both enjoy his family's homecooking. We left disappointed and irritated. We made a reservation, arrived slightly early, and were seated promptly. Our order was placed by 7:35pm. Our food did not appear until almost 8:10pm. In the 30+ minutes wait, no one came by to say sorry for the wait, the food is coming soon, nothing. We even ordered an appetizer - but silence... When the food arrived, we were so surprised to see it was my main course and my husband's restaurant week (RW) appetizer plus main course on a single plate. We have not ordered from a RW menu for many years, and we were puzzled looking at his plate. I asked the waiter where is my appetizer? He mumbled they had to re-fire the something something and walked away. I HAD TO ASK before he told us, barely told us. It was brought to us in 10 more minutes. Much later, we heard the hostess seating new guests that the RW menu is served as sample size. She didn't tell us that. Our waiter didn't tell us that. Throughout our entire meal, no one checked-in on us, either. We have never experienced such negligence in a full-service restaurant that is otherwise a seemingly quality restaurant. They were standing around talking to each other. Minus 1 star for the lack of service. Perhaps the above would not be so grating if the food was good. It was not. The Food: RW Sizzling Tofu Sisig - 1 Star Menu: Marinated Tofu, Bell Peppers, Red Onions, Garlic Thai Chili Ponzu, Micro Cilantro, Chili Lime Aioli, Sizzling Fried Egg The tiny fried tofu cubes are hard and have no taste except. Tofu can't be cut so small AND fried; the texture just doesn't work and doesn't absorb flavor in that size. The origin of the sisig dish is typically a pork sisig, for that matter, misc parts of the pig (look it up), and it is to be served on a sizzling platter, like a fajita, hence the name. These cubes of tofu are not prepared or served "sisig" style. If we had known this will be served sample size, part of a plate, we would not have ordered this. That is enough to tell me it won't be true sisig. The only reason this has 1 Star is because the fried egg is good. RW Stuffed Chicken Tinola - 2 Stars Menu: Stuffed Chicken Roulade, Chicken Consommé, Sautéed Spinach Shitake Mushrooms, Pea Vines Chayote Ginger, Moringa Leaves A traditional chicken tinola is a soup with bone-in chicken cooked in ginger broth, slow cook for a long time to maximize the chicken flavor in the broth and to tenderize the chicken. Most of the preparations appear to be reasonable, except the chicken turned out dry - very dry, as in smash it into the broth to make it more edible kind of dry. They used chicken breast to stuff, which I understand, but they weren't able to tenderize the chicken in the process. I really wanted this dish to work, but it failed. The RW combo plate included a scoop of rice. The garlic rice and fried egg were the two best bites on the RW plate. Disappointed. Grilled Baja Prawn Sinigang, $32 - 2 Stars Menu: 3 Jumbo Grilled Baja Prawns, Grilled Eggplant, Daikon, Okra, Baby Bok Choi, Tangy Tamarind Glaze When I saw a photo of this dish, I thought it looked promising. What I should have also looked up is --what exactly is the Baja prawn. In short, the edible tail part is about the size of my short, stubby pinkie. It was three bites of protein. Sigh. The veggies were reasonable, especially the okra. The tamarind didn't come through, so the tangy tasted sour, not tangy. A touch more sugar is needed to balance the flavor. Sticky Adobo Wings, $18 - 0 Stars Menu: Soy Braised Chicken Wings, Crispy Garlic, Sticky Adobo Glaze, Scallions The late-arriving appetizer. We were so looking forward to this dish. We both love adobo dishes. The idea of turning the sauce into glazed wings sounded amazing. This execution was a horrendous failure. The flavor was incredibly sour without the savory from the soy sauce. There should be a balance between savory vs sour, soy vs vinegar. All we can taste was the vinegar. Did the chef confuse the soy sauce and vinegar bottles? Other than the uncharacteristically sour taste (which we ate cuz we hate wasting food), the last bite in the drumstick revealed it wasn't fully cooked through with the gummy pink membrane. Gross. See photo. I contemplated saying something at this point, but I just wanted to leave this place by now. RW Bibingka Corn Bread - 4 Stars Menu: Warm Corn Bread, House Made Coconut Ice Cream, Banana Leaf The server offered the bibingka to my husband while I was still eating the last adobo wing. He seemed to want us gone as much as we wanted to leave. Bibingka comes in two main variants - bread or rice. A sticky rice version is phenomenon. This corn bread version is quite good, too. Of all the dishes we ordered, this is the only dish that met expectations.

When I say the food, service, and atmosphere at Astra Signature Hotel featuring Otium Restaurant is 5 star; that does not say enough. The executive chef Gerald Gutierrez has brought a taste of the Philippines to the U.S. in his breakfast creations. Brunch was not just delicious but healthy as well. We dined on 'Bow Chicken & Waffles' and Bacon Egg & Cheese Sandwich. Me being greedy I ate most of the Ube waffles.. Our waiter, Troy, was not just patient with our inquiries about the food, but went out of his way to find out recipes and secrets that made these creations so good. Gerald and Troy went so far as to bring us out samples of the main ingredients that made the ube waffles and pandan butter so great. Thank you so much for making the first day of our Seattle vacation unforgettable! We will definitely be back!!!

We also shared the combo silog which was a great way to sample more of the menu. I enjoyed the garlic rice and ilocos especially. The diner feels so cozy and homey - old photos of the owner and customers and magnets his guests left are a nice touch. Friendly and attentive service despite the busyness.

You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

All the…read moreoutdoor tables were full when we arrived at 6, so we put our name on the list for inside and waited about 30 minutes. The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

They gave us these post cards to write down our individual drinks. FYI - this place requires using your smart phone to scan a QR code for the menu. We ordered 2 apps (salmon dip with pita chips & chips and cheese dip) I ordered fish and chips. Buddy got the meat loaf. Our beer showed up quick. Waiter always checked on us often. Our apps showed up and they were both delicious. Then 5 minutes later our main dish orders showed up. Wasn't too happy with that because we wasted time to taste our beers and snack on the apps. They need to work on their timing. Need at least 10 minutes in between the beer and apps. The food overall is admittedly top notch. Fish and chips FRESH! The fish was juicy and the fried crust was perfection. Pieces were large. They will ask if you want 3 or 4. 3 is enough. If they can work on timing the drinks and food this place would be a 5 out 5, but will deduct a star because of that. The overall vibe of the place was nice. Huge layout with wooden picnic style tables. Outdoor tables if you're lucky to get one. Large tanks to brew beer surrounding the room and a merch table.

You know it's good when you pull up the establishment and they have not only a long line, but also a paper dictating what is sold out, which they update on a 10-15 minute interval. Waiting in line is the most time consuming part of this experience, as we probably waited 20-30 minutes to get to the front to place our order - which is good sign! You can definitely formulate what meats and sides you want as you get closer to the front. Parking for the restaurant is a bit difficult, I think the only options we found while visiting was streetside, and we were fortunate to find a spot only a block away. I could totally see it being impossible to find parking when it gets really busy in the area. Once you get your food, there is plenty of seating, from high tops, to booths, to tables, to outdoor seating with a fire pit. We got a good variety of items, which I'll review a couple down below: Brisket: A good brisket with a nice visible smoke ring. Similar to the pork belly, you can tell the skill of a barbecue restaurant from how their brisket is, and this brisket is delicious! Really meaty and pleasant smoke flavor. I think we did get a leaner cut of brisket as there wasn't as much fat to help with the leanness. Beef Cheek: A delicious cut of meat that melts in the mouth, and has a pleasant smokey flavor. Out of the three cuts of meat, this one was unfortunately salted the heaviest. The first couple of bites are delicious and really delicious, but it goes really overwhelming the more you eat it. If you order this, definitely get some sides to help. Pomegrante Pork Belly: A solid BBQ pork belly that has a pleasing fatty crust with a meaty interior. This is what I would consider a good baseline for a reputable barbecue restaurant. It is advertised as pomegrante pork belly, but I unfortunately wasn't able to taste any flavor of pomengrate - maybe a tiny bit in the glaze/bark but that could just be attributed to the sugar. Mac and Cheese: A pretty comforting side! bechamel sauce is really creamy and fully coats each noodle. The noodles were at the sweet spot of soft and having enough integrity to hold their shape. Cherry and Rhubarb Cobbler: Wow, this is an amazing dessert! I haven't had a cobbler where they added cardamom to the crust before, and I think it works spectacularly. The cardamom gives a nice floral taste to the crust, which is complemented by the tart and fruity filling. I think this is one of the better if not best desserts I've had a barbecue shop, and the small tweaks made were creative and delicious! In the end, I think we paid about $100 for everything you see here. Having been to a couple of BBQ places, I would say that it is pretty standard pricing. Good BBQ does take a lot of effort and it does come at a premium. Outsider BBQ is absolutely delicious - if you are looking to get some comforting food, they definitely have you covered. I would totally revisit to try their items that got sold out (missed the beef cheeks, need to try those!) the time we visited!
