We got reservations for this place at 630PM on a Saturday evening. When we got there, there was plenty of tables. A "Please Wait to be Seated" sign greeted us and wait we did. We stood at the front with absolutely no acknowledgement from any of the staff including the bartenders. There is a front counter it seems, but no one was there. After five minutes of standing, and yes, it was 5-min, as the World Cup was on and that game clock doesn't stop. 5-minutes might not sound long, but when you're standing in the front, its a long time. We finally got greeted by their understaffed people, and were seated in the back. Obviously no reservation needed, as they didn't even ask. After about another 5-minutes, we got paper menus. By this time, we scanned the QR code that was on the table, to see the menu, and we were already ready to order. Sadly, I wish I did look at the paper menu, because apparently the online menu was different. There was a gumbo on the paper menu apparently. There's pictures of it on their TV monitors, showcasing their food, but I didn't see it on the online menu. We go the oysters, which surprisingly no one got sick from. Chicken fajitas were OK, and the rainbow roll sushi was OK too. The service really was bad... I would not come back again. I ordered nachos and they dabbed some beans at the bottom, piled on chips and dumped cold nacho cheese and sour cream. It was soooo gross like Really cold nacho cheese. U cant use real cheese? The waiter couldnt speak english, which i really dont mind, but it was on top of everything else... he kept bringing out sweet and sour thai chile sauce for the oysters. And the horseradish was like mayo. Pro tip- buy horseradish and shave it... u need the bite. The drinks were poorly made... got a lemon drop and moscow mule. Lemon drop was just straight lemon lime juice, no liquor, no sugar rim. Moscow mule was straight ginger beer. They didnt know how to make them and it was obvious. The 2 other tables both told them they forgot the liquor in the drinks. I will say the presentation was fine, except for the sugar rim. Honestly i cant say anything good about the experience. Servers seem to struggle with the devices they are using to place orders. Our food took a considerable amount of time to come out, it was wrong, so it all went back so one of our fajitas could get made from scratch while the other meals sat under a heat lamp. I also love it when places like this get overwhelmed and everyone is looking around for their food/drinks/etc. and you see staff buried in their mobile phones. This place is really pretty bad. I didn't know this place existed until a friend decided this was the spot for her birthday this year. It is definitely not the sort of place that you'd expect to see as essentially the Holiday Inn restaurant. While we didn't get any food, the drinks were great! I had two margaritas, a standard and a because everyone else was doing it I got their spicy jalapeño margarita (there's an actual name for it but I can't remember what it was). It was really good, and it was actually a bit spicy which was nice. They aren't light with the alcohol either, so although the drinks aren't inexpensive I also didn't feel cheated. Would you expect a nightclub in the suburbs--especially Des Plaines? I wouldn't have, but then there's Ostras. They have a DJ playing every weekend (on Saturdays, at least), and they provide a salsa dancing lesson every Saturday at 9:30 p.m. There was quite a crowd there so it seems to be a popular place. read more

It's never fun to miss a connecting flight and be stuck somewhere overnight due to a delay but that happened to us a few weeks ago. We looked out the hotel window and saw Ostras within walking distance and decided that would be where we had dinner. It turned out to be a very good choice. This Latin-Asian fusion restaurant is almost a hidden jem, attached to a hotel near Chicago O'Hare but once you enter the restaurant, you find yourself in a beautifully decorated and cozy environment. It's a casual restaurant that could easily double as a fine dining establishment with indoor seating and a very nice patio area as well. We were greeted by a lovely live singer on that Friday evening accompanied by a guitarist and singing a mix of Latin and classic songs. The food is very good. It is a wide ranging yet classic menu that includes what you'd expect with items such as tacos, burgers, fajitas, and sushi. The service is also on point with the friendly and attentive servers willing to help with recommendations. The only negative I would give this establishment is the price point. The food is good but the menu is priced considerably higher than it likely should be based on the menu but the portions are good and so is the taste. we went at 6pm before the 8pm show at Allstate arena and but it was a wrong decision. They are not ready for dinner crowd on Wed night with 4 tables dining in only 1 staff and took forever when you need anything. The restaurant is so big & food is ok but service definitely not there. It took so long when we need to check out then found 18% + 4% surcharge Total 22% already added to the check for a party of 3. I understand the 4%surcharge as it shows on the receipt but the 18% gratuity was not illegally showing on menu or anywhere on the table. We tip average 20% everywhere we go with decent service but you can't put on as mandatory with such service and the server name Bertha never came back to table after drop the bill for signature. read more

Our server obviously didn't speak or understand English. We got oysters it came with a small amount of cocktail sauce and horseradish. We ordered a dozen so we asked for more and they brought sweet and sour disgusting. I ordered a lemon drop which was on their menu. It was absolutely disgusting and its really not hard to mess up a lemon drop. We had to get it taken off our tab. We ended up paying 120 dollars for the worst food and drinks ever. We ordered nachos the steak was goo on them but they were doused in generic gross cheese sauce that wasnt piping hot. It was the worst dining experience ever. Went here for a friends birthday which was also before a show at AllState. The food and ambiance was so good! The drinks were amazing and the menu had a lot more on it there than online. The service was a little slow but it seemed like the waitress was there by herself and it was pretty busy prior to the show. Would definitely go back. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I brought my family here to celebrate my mom's birthday, but we ended up leaving and celebrating elsewhere due to how poor the experience was. To begin with, the silverware and glassware were dirty and had an unpleasant, fishy smell. The service was extremely poor--it took 45 minutes just to receive our drinks, and I had to go to the bar myself to ask for water. Our meals were served about 20 minutes apart, which made it impossible to enjoy dinner together. The atmosphere was equally frustrating. The music was blasting, and even after several polite requests to lower the volume, nothing was done. I typically don't write reviews, but I felt it was necessary to share this experience. I really wanted this to be a great restaurant but they have a lot of kinks to work out. The service was friendly but otherwise unspectacular for what you would expect at a restaurant of this price level. The restaurant was empty on a Saturday night and they had plenty of staff but things just did not seem to be functioning on all cylinders. They were "out of stock" of 2 different drinks that were not communicated until after we ordered and the waitress went to the bar. We had the same issue with one of the entrees. You would think that they should know the drinks and entrees that they are out of and proactively share with their diners. The manager was very nice and provided complimentary desserts for our table. Overall the quality of the food was good but not sure i would come back again. I expected a lot more for a $700 meal for 6 people. I wish them all the best! read more
