During the week, you can catch a game on one of the many flat screens that adorn the bar. The owner is a genuine guy who was born and raised in Schiller Park. He kept true to his roots and opened this gem, nestled nicely on Irving Park Road next to Mantra Restaurant. Sway Bar hosted my 29th birthday, and the owner and his wife went out of their way to make not only my experience a memorable one, but also each of my guests. At the time, the bar was brand new and my guests (about 30 or so people) were unfamiliar with the establishment. At the end of the night, my guests were raving about the "Totally cool new bar that opened up in Schiller Park!" I found myself in Sway Bar frequently after my first visit, and each time is better than the last. The staff is friendly and easy to chat with. On the weekends, you can often catch a local DJ spinning some jams. Beware, impromptu dancing takes over like mad. I dare you to not have an awesome time! You owe it to yourself to check out Sway Bar. If you are looking for more low-key, come during the week. If you're looking to turn up, hit this place up on a Saturday night and prepare to get WILD!!! :-)

I wish they just had a regular air hockey table instead of the curved one they have there: it looks cool but not practical to play at all. That puck flies everywhere! Expect basic "college bar" drinks here. Stick to beer and simple mixed drinks- don't drink expect fine cocktails here.

A short fuse and a close call…read more After Emily and I checked in to our hotel room, we wanted to stretch our legs and see if there was anything nearby for some beer and some food. Turns out, Short Fuse was right up the road and a 5 minute walk got us there. For a Sunday, it wasn't too busy but not dead, so we got seated right away. We ordered some beer and took a look at the menu. While nothing really struck our fancy, our waitress made a comment that if we did want any food, it might be slim pickings as they were running out of stuff. Turns out, this day was the last day they were open. Talk about timing! After she mentioned that, I started to notice that people were buying bar signs and various other things. Emily started off with a Guava Gose and I grabbed a Krankshaft kolsch. We sampled each other beers and we both really liked what the other ordered. I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future.

Inside was pretty empty, we were there on a Thurs night and it seemed like mostly a few other corporate groups and regulars. There's a room with slot machines which I thought was interesting. Quick service, large portions and food came out fast. 4/5 chicken caldo soup - spicy but really flavorful 2/5 wings - dry rub was a bit too dry for their liking 3/5 friend got a salad with poppyseed dressing but didn't end up using the dressing as it had a bit of a strange consistency for her. She said it was okay tho. 3.5/5 ultimate grilled cheese, added a burger patty medium and red onions. The burger was good but cooked more medium well. Waffle fries generous but didn't care much for the ranch. 3.5/5 jambalaya - friends enjoyed it and the serving was large. 4/5 bread pudding was tasty and so was the ice cream. Service was great and it was just what we needed to get us some extra food. Menu was extensive and she indicated all was made fresh. Not necessarily food I'd crave & seek out if I was back in the area but it was pleasantly surprising and exactly what we needed!

Even with a lot of toppings. The beer was ice cold. The only kinda meh was the appetizer pretzel. The beer cheese was kind of like a liquid nacho cheese with beer mixed into it that made for an off putting texture and the mustard sauce was just Dijon mustard squirted into a cup. Needed to be thinned out a bit. Over all 8.5/10. The pizza made up for the appetizer meh-ness

Located close to my hotel, I found Crust Brewing on a list provided by the front desk. Starving after my conference l decided to check them out. The meatball appetizer (3 balls) were tender and well flavored. I loved the robust sauce. My Hawaiian pizza, with fresh arugula and a generous spread of red sauce had a just crispy crust was equally well flavored with a robust marinara sauce. I'm not a beer guy, more like rum and wine, but wanting to keep it light, I asked my waitress Diana my waitress for recommendations. She started me off with a sample flight, from which I ended up, enjoying the"Boomer IPA". A Makers Mark old fashioned Made for great nightcap. I would definitely recommend them if you're staying near O'Hare. I know where I'll stop by my next trip.

To skip to the end, 2-3 of our party of ten spent the night with upset stomachs or vomiting, and not from drinking to excess. The staff seemed overwhelmed and behind even though the restaurant was not full. We waited 20 min after seating for drink orders to be taken. Several of the drinks lagged long behind the others. There was not enough water for everyone to have a glass, and then the empty pitchers were collected without being refilled. Requests for refills brought one refilled pitchers when 3-4 were needed. Half of the food ordered arrived in a reasonable time. But the other items were delivered to the table around 25 minutes later, making for an awkward time while half of us watched the others eat. Those who got their food first were completely done eating by the time the rest of our food arrived. The regular pizzas and boneless wings were actually pretty good! But when the two tavern pizzas were delivered, they were so overcooked and dry they were basically inedible. (See my uploaded photos.) There was no acknowledgement by the waitstaff or attempts to correct the order. We had somewhere to be after dinner, so we opted to just choke them down rather than wait another 45 min for replacement pizzas. It was difficult to get waitstaff attention to get our checks and to go boxes. And when they came, they brought fewer boxes than we asked for. I walked up to the bar and asked for a to-go box, and was met with an eyeroll and a huff, and the box slammed on the bar with a curt "anything else?" Like I mentioned before, I was up part of the night with a sour stomach. And I found out the next morning that our friends were camped out on the bathroom floor with food poisoning. We will ne'er darken the door of this establishment again, and I suggest you don't either.
