I honestly was shocked at how amazing this place was. I'm not sure who my server was, but he was very charismatic and attentive the scenery was very romantic and intimate. The food was absolutely amazing, the bread was warm, properly toasted, and had fragrant fresh garlic, and what I believe to be high grade. The carpaccio was top notch, the arugula, Parmesan, and the thinly sliced beef which was very different from other carpaccios I've had, I dressed mine with olive oil, and vinaigrette which added a sweet little compliment to an already perfect dish, finally the pasta which I expected to be salty, was absolutely perfect. The sauce was buttery, well seasoned, the fettuccine was al dente, and the sausage was not salty but had a savory sort of sweet taste to it with a beautiful snap. I'm by no means an Italian cuisine connoisseur but the food was amazing,

Yes, pasta can be healthy, if it is made with real chopped up tomatoes and not some commercial pasta sauce. I was visiting a friend in the southwestern burbs when I mentioned that I hadn't had good, let alone any, Italian food in a while since running and HIITing. My friend suggested this little spot in a strip mall on Sunset, and let me tell you it is the textbook definition of hidden gem. It's located at the end of a little strip mall with no major signage, but very much worth the effort to find for good Italian food. It is cozy, and when I walked in I thought it had been reserved for a private event due to the "Reserved" tags and pink napkins. However, I was able to get a table and enjoy their bites. I went bottomless water #recoverySunday so I can't speak to their wine selection but did enjoy a full course of bites. I started with their Caprese Invernale. Take your classic burrata, but grill it , and balsamic vinegar and pine nuts for a very nice smoky flavor. This is definitely a find! My main was the classic spaghetti pomodoro with an added chicken breast (need the protein). Like I mentioned earlier, this takes the cheat away because the team at Osteria prepares it with fresh tomatoes instead of a ton of sauce. Where I did indulge was of course, for dessert, with the berries Sabayon. This creamy bowl, topped with fresh strawberries, had subtly delicious rummy notes. Service was attentive & pleasant, with who I believe was the owner walking by to check with us fellow diners and asking about the dishes and experience. Very much worth the find and drive south!

Dinner with a friend on a Friday night. The restaurant was not busy. I had the homemade fettuccine with mushrooms. It was excellent. The portion size was good. We ended up getting a dessert, the lava cake because my friend wanted something warm. The lava cake was as expected (perfectly lava-y). The scoop of ice cream had a little twist, which added a nice texture-crunch to the dessert. The service was great. The server answered questions and gave us a few suggestions. The prices for the quality of the food was great. I have had much more expensive Italian food which was not nearly as good. The decor was different with the tables seeming to be formal, but the service was friendly and not stuffy. We were not dressed up and felt right at home. We had an excellent dining experience. I definitely want to come back and try more menu items.

If you are up for Italian food and around the Kendall area, this casual cozy Osteria will surprise you. The spot is not pretentious at all, it is more along the lines of Miami's suburban areas, so you might miss it if you are not careful enough to spot it while driving by. We went to dinner on a weekday and were welcomed by JC, the host and server. He had a table ready for us, as we already had a reservation, and right away sent the other waiters to refresh us with some water, as he presented the wine menu. There were plenty of options, from Chianti to Piedmont, and we opted for a recommendation from JC, a Puglia wine that was one of the best things we tried during our dinner. As an appetizer, we tried the fried calamari, with zucchini and lemon. An option I wouldn't order again as it didn't have anything special. Just a simple fried calamari with a regular dipping sauce. Then some of us were encouraged to order the specials, like the Bistecca ai Ferri (Grilled Skirt Steak ), which was tender enough to easily slice through. This would be my favorite dish (something very odd, as being an Italian restaurant you expect the pasta to be superb). The second-best dish could be the ravioli di mare topped with pink wine sauce). This type of pasta is not the one I would ever order, but it surprised me how good the consistency was. Then I could state the Ravioli di Zucca Burro e Salvia, Fresh homemade ravioli filled with ricotta, pumpkin, and amoretti cookies in a butter sage sauce. The pasta was al dente and the filling was very tasty, but a little bit too sweet. If you are a sweet tooth kind of person, definitely this is your choice. I love sweet stuff, but this was too much, even for me, still, I would give it the third and final place, and this is because I wouldn't suggest the other two dishes. JC was friendly enough to split my plate so I could try the ravioli ricotta, as well as the Penne Zucca e Pancetta because I was undecided on which to order. The Penne was al dente, but the cheese sauce was too heavy and the Zucca was just sliced and mixed in the sauce, not adding any real value to the dish the worst part is that it was not real pancetta, it supposedly was prosciutto, but to be honest it didn't taste like it. At least having the options of the two dishes combination balanced out the sweetness of the Ravioli. And the most disappointing dish to me was the Paglia e Fieno ai Funghi ‍ which was supposed to be bathed in Truffle oil, but I never tasted it. The pasta was so dipped in sauce that it wasn't even al dente and that's a killer for me. The overall problem with the pasta was that the chef suffocates them in sauce, and if they were genuine, only with a scent of sauce it would be more than enough to excel. I do have to admit that I was obsessed with the garlic warm bread served on the table, I couldn't stop eating it...In the end, the extra sauce from the pasta worked perfectly for dipping the bread with it, and always asked for it to be served warm, it makes all the difference. For Desserts, they brought some classic cannoli, which were too stiff and the cream was glued to it. We also had a white chocolate, lemon mascarpone with a scoop of ice cream , that actually was pretty refreshing because it balances the sweet and bitter on a sweet tasty spot. I would actually like to give it 3 stars and a half, but there is no option for it, still I would stop by this Italian restaurant if I'm around and hungry for pasta and of course the garlic warm bread !

Here's a picture of the second dish my friend ordered. I don't remember what it was you can see the big chunks of Parmesan cheese there!

I just turned 57 last month. I have been fortunate enough to have lived in several different countries and traveled to many others and dining out and eating well has always been one of my favorite things to do wherever I go. Good experiences, bad experiences and mediocre ones are par for the course. However, none of my many experiences can compare to what happened at this restaurant. The experience of being scammed. From the owner/Chef'/Host's (I never knew who this guy was)fake Italian accent to the flank steak being sold as short rib to the Publix grated Parmesan cheese the whole evening was exactly that: fake. My "paste fresche" which was the homemade ravioli filled with pumpkin, ricotta and amoretti cookies in a butter sage which had absolutely nothing fresh about it. In fact, it was hard and overcooked maybe put a little too long to warm up (pictures to follow). My friend was so upset about the "short rib " dish she actually told the host/owner/chef about it something she NEVER likes to do. She asked to speak to the chef, but he said he was a chef which surprise me because I didn't know how he can switch from the kitchen to host role so quickly, definitely a superpower. Apparently he did not take the complaint very well because he was visibly upset. He offered to exchange it for something else and it was a couple of weeks ago, so I honestly don't remember what she ordered. I just remember it had risotto in it which tasted like rice pudding. Although I did not like my dish at all I did not want to keep rocking the boat because I wanted to enjoy my evening out with my friend. However, the host/owner/chef never acknowledged the comment. When my friend asked for fresh Parmesan cheese, the Cuban lady who called us Mamita when she bought us both plates and asked me to hand one to my friend said they did not have any fresh Parmesan cheese however the owner/host/chef did bring some out. So I guess they had it after all. We just had to ask the right person. While my friend waited for her dish the the owner/host/chef said he was going to give us a free bottle of wine which we did not really want but went along with again to make the evening pleasant. When my friend's second dish was also mediocre, I began to get upset and it started to really irk me that he kept pouring more and more wine into our glasses not only was he pouring the wine continuously, but he was resting the tip of the bottle onto our glasses, which really annoyed me for some reason I don't know if it was that in combination with his fake Italian accent and his bad attitude, but that was really getting on my nerves. When he kept pouring the wine which I did not want any more of, I gently lifted the bottle that he kept resting onto the side of our glasses and told him that he should not rest the bottle of wine onto the glass. Well, I guess that was about as much as the owner/host/chef could stand from us and he asked us to leave. Shocked, as I have never been asked to leave from any restaurant in all my many years I asked him if he was asking us to leave, to which he replied yes and you don't have to pay. I replied that I didn't mind paying explaining that it was not about that. He didn't want to hear it and he said please leave now. After having drank so much wine, I was feeling a little giddy and for some reason that made me laugh. I think I was in shock. While all this is happening, the restaurant was so packed that some people were waiting in line outside. I don't know if it's just me but is this what Miami has become? 305Fake ? Even in a neighborhood restaurant, not South Beach or Brickell Is this the best we can do? I believe we can do better and deserve better. We work hard for our money and the prices that we are already paying in Miami are outrageous enough, so my recommendation is stay as far away from this place and the host/owner/chef or whoever he is. Save your money and go somewhere else for a real experience...good luck with that!

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the 305. Recommended by another fellow Yelper, and Osteria Vecchio does not disappoint. The service is VERY friendly and fast, no reservations required for lunch but highly recommended for dinner and weekends. I was so impressed with the service and food that I've returned 3 additional times. Their homemade pasta dishes are the best in my opinion. It's Inside a small shopping mall, cute, small, and casual ambiance.

My favorite Friday lunch spot!! The service is amazing. The owner personally waits on us always. The food is beyond my expectations. I always have the branzino with the champagne risotto.

We got sat right away (make that reservation to save the headache) and since we were used to the LA and Vegas location so I was ready to order. We started with the focaccia and got the mortadella bread as well. Got some meatballs which are better than the traditional ground beef kind as the meats shredded! Then the 2 diavolo's came and we should've gotten a different second pizza but now we know for next time! AND THEN the cacio and rigatocini came out which we also very much enjoyed. The music and ambiance is a little loud so it's hard to hear and it's a little dark to read the menu but I absolutely love it here and would do it all over again. Thanks for having us!

It's a really nice space and I'd come here just to grab drinks if you're looking for a classy spot. We ended up being seated at a high top, which is just the tables at the bar area. Next time I'd do a better job asking for a seat at the dining room or even overlooking the kitchen in order to watch the chefs in action. Lara was our server who was a rockstar. She knew the menu and was able to make good recommendations. We started with a Margherita pizza was thin and had a crisp, came out quick and was delicious. Good to split between two instead of bread service. Our mains were the Cacio y Pepe which was fresh and had a peppery flavor. Not bad but not my favorite. Rigatoni ragu was delicious and was my fav. I'd order this again. All the pasta is freshly made in house. Finally, we ordered a Banana bread dessert which was good for two and not too sweet. It was served with a scoop of banana flavored ice cream. I'd come here again as in my opinion it's much better than some of the overhyped Italian restaurants that you see on the gram in Miami. Make sure you make a reservation on Resy.

We got lucky and the hostess actually seated us almost right away. The staff is amazing and friendly. Usually on big holidays restaurants in Miami are short staffed and service always suffers. Osteria's energy was warm and beyond welcoming. We ordered the calamari again and it was wonderfully crispy. For our Entrees we had the steak with a side of asparagus and pappardelle ossobuco. Steak was perfectly seasoned. The veal pasta sauce was out of this world. Honestly I think stopping by Osteria might be our Christmas Eve tradition from now on. Unfortunately, the illusion fades rather quickly. The first sign of trouble arrives with the server sporting a rather impressive lip piercing, followed closely by a colleague whose diamond nose stud could probably be seen from space. Not exactly the ambiance one expects when aiming for "elegant." Despite the abundance of servers floating around the dining room, none seem to notice when your knife dramatically dives off the table and lands on the floor -- where it enjoys a long, lonely stay. Water service is also quite innovative: they simply leave the entire bottle at the table, which seems less about generosity and more about avoiding the inconvenience of returning to refill your glass. The food? Sadly just as uninspired. From the octopus to the $68 Milanese, every dish managed the impressive feat of being completely flavorless. The Milanese arrived with a beautiful crust, which raised hopes... until you realized there was no sauce, no garnish, and nothing to rescue what turned out to be a remarkably bland plate. Meanwhile, the staff appears deeply committed to minimizing effort -- though not shy about judging you directly when the tip doesn't meet their expectations. All in all, this place feels like fine dining in costume. Perhaps a return to the basics of hospitality and service would be a good start... followed by a serious conversation with whoever is currently in the kitchen. Good luck to anyone brave enough to give it a try.
