Yes, pasta can be healthy, if it is made with real chopped up tomatoes and not some commercial pasta sauce. I was visiting a friend in the southwestern burbs when I mentioned that I hadn't had good, let alone any, Italian food in a while since running and HIITing. My friend suggested this little spot in a strip mall on Sunset, and let me tell you it is the textbook definition of hidden gem. It's located at the end of a little strip mall with no major signage, but very much worth the effort to find for good Italian food. It is cozy, and when I walked in I thought it had been reserved for a private event due to the "Reserved" tags and pink napkins. However, I was able to get a table and enjoy their bites. I went bottomless water #recoverySunday so I can't speak to their wine selection but did enjoy a full course of bites. I started with their Caprese Invernale. Take your classic burrata, but grill it , and balsamic vinegar and pine nuts for a very nice smoky flavor. This is definitely a find! My main was the classic spaghetti pomodoro with an added chicken breast (need the protein). Like I mentioned earlier, this takes the cheat away because the team at Osteria prepares it with fresh tomatoes instead of a ton of sauce. Where I did indulge was of course, for dessert, with the berries Sabayon. This creamy bowl, topped with fresh strawberries, had subtly delicious rummy notes. Service was attentive & pleasant, with who I believe was the owner walking by to check with us fellow diners and asking about the dishes and experience. Very much worth the find and drive south!

Dinner with a friend on a Friday night. The restaurant was not busy. I had the homemade fettuccine with mushrooms. It was excellent. The portion size was good. We ended up getting a dessert, the lava cake because my friend wanted something warm. The lava cake was as expected (perfectly lava-y). The scoop of ice cream had a little twist, which added a nice texture-crunch to the dessert. The service was great. The server answered questions and gave us a few suggestions. The prices for the quality of the food was great. I have had much more expensive Italian food which was not nearly as good. The decor was different with the tables seeming to be formal, but the service was friendly and not stuffy. We were not dressed up and felt right at home. We had an excellent dining experience. I definitely want to come back and try more menu items.

Here's a picture of the second dish my friend ordered. I don't remember what it was you can see the big chunks of Parmesan cheese there!

I just turned 57 last month. I have been fortunate enough to have lived in several different countries and traveled to many others and dining out and eating well has always been one of my favorite things to do wherever I go. Good experiences, bad experiences and mediocre ones are par for the course. However, none of my many experiences can compare to what happened at this restaurant. The experience of being scammed. From the owner/Chef'/Host's (I never knew who this guy was)fake Italian accent to the flank steak being sold as short rib to the Publix grated Parmesan cheese the whole evening was exactly that: fake. My "paste fresche" which was the homemade ravioli filled with pumpkin, ricotta and amoretti cookies in a butter sage which had absolutely nothing fresh about it. In fact, it was hard and overcooked maybe put a little too long to warm up (pictures to follow). My friend was so upset about the "short rib " dish she actually told the host/owner/chef about it something she NEVER likes to do. She asked to speak to the chef, but he said he was a chef which surprise me because I didn't know how he can switch from the kitchen to host role so quickly, definitely a superpower. Apparently he did not take the complaint very well because he was visibly upset. He offered to exchange it for something else and it was a couple of weeks ago, so I honestly don't remember what she ordered. I just remember it had risotto in it which tasted like rice pudding. Although I did not like my dish at all I did not want to keep rocking the boat because I wanted to enjoy my evening out with my friend. However, the host/owner/chef never acknowledged the comment. When my friend asked for fresh Parmesan cheese, the Cuban lady who called us Mamita when she bought us both plates and asked me to hand one to my friend said they did not have any fresh Parmesan cheese however the owner/host/chef did bring some out. So I guess they had it after all. We just had to ask the right person. While my friend waited for her dish the the owner/host/chef said he was going to give us a free bottle of wine which we did not really want but went along with again to make the evening pleasant. When my friend's second dish was also mediocre, I began to get upset and it started to really irk me that he kept pouring more and more wine into our glasses not only was he pouring the wine continuously, but he was resting the tip of the bottle onto our glasses, which really annoyed me for some reason I don't know if it was that in combination with his fake Italian accent and his bad attitude, but that was really getting on my nerves. When he kept pouring the wine which I did not want any more of, I gently lifted the bottle that he kept resting onto the side of our glasses and told him that he should not rest the bottle of wine onto the glass. Well, I guess that was about as much as the owner/host/chef could stand from us and he asked us to leave. Shocked, as I have never been asked to leave from any restaurant in all my many years I asked him if he was asking us to leave, to which he replied yes and you don't have to pay. I replied that I didn't mind paying explaining that it was not about that. He didn't want to hear it and he said please leave now. After having drank so much wine, I was feeling a little giddy and for some reason that made me laugh. I think I was in shock. While all this is happening, the restaurant was so packed that some people were waiting in line outside. I don't know if it's just me but is this what Miami has become? 305Fake ? Even in a neighborhood restaurant, not South Beach or Brickell Is this the best we can do? I believe we can do better and deserve better. We work hard for our money and the prices that we are already paying in Miami are outrageous enough, so my recommendation is stay as far away from this place and the host/owner/chef or whoever he is. Save your money and go somewhere else for a real experience...good luck with that!

Was outstanding truly Italian great food and service was outstanding. Highly recommend this place everyone was great

Bistecca ai Ferri (Grilled Skirt Steak ), which was tender enough to easily slice through.

If you are up for Italian food and around the Kendall area, this casual cozy Osteria will surprise you. The spot is not pretentious at all, it is more along the lines of Miami's suburban areas, so you might miss it if you are not careful enough to spot it while driving by. We went to dinner on a weekday and were welcomed by JC, the host and server. He had a table ready for us, as we already had a reservation, and right away sent the other waiters to refresh us with some water, as he presented the wine menu. There were plenty of options, from Chianti to Piedmont, and we opted for a recommendation from JC, a Puglia wine that was one of the best things we tried during our dinner. As an appetizer, we tried the fried calamari, with zucchini and lemon. An option I wouldn't order again as it didn't have anything special. Just a simple fried calamari with a regular dipping sauce. Then some of us were encouraged to order the specials, like the Bistecca ai Ferri (Grilled Skirt Steak ), which was tender enough to easily slice through. This would be my favorite dish (something very odd, as being an Italian restaurant you expect the pasta to be superb). The second-best dish could be the ravioli di mare topped with pink wine sauce). This type of pasta is not the one I would ever order, but it surprised me how good the consistency was. Then I could state the Ravioli di Zucca Burro e Salvia, Fresh homemade ravioli filled with ricotta, pumpkin, and amoretti cookies in a butter sage sauce. The pasta was al dente and the filling was very tasty, but a little bit too sweet. If you are a sweet tooth kind of person, definitely this is your choice. I love sweet stuff, but this was too much, even for me, still, I would give it the third and final place, and this is because I wouldn't suggest the other two dishes. JC was friendly enough to split my plate so I could try the ravioli ricotta, as well as the Penne Zucca e Pancetta because I was undecided on which to order. The Penne was al dente, but the cheese sauce was too heavy and the Zucca was just sliced and mixed in the sauce, not adding any real value to the dish the worst part is that it was not real pancetta, it supposedly was prosciutto, but to be honest it didn't taste like it. At least having the options of the two dishes combination balanced out the sweetness of the Ravioli. And the most disappointing dish to me was the Paglia e Fieno ai Funghi ‍ which was supposed to be bathed in Truffle oil, but I never tasted it. The pasta was so dipped in sauce that it wasn't even al dente and that's a killer for me. The overall problem with the pasta was that the chef suffocates them in sauce, and if they were genuine, only with a scent of sauce it would be more than enough to excel. I do have to admit that I was obsessed with the garlic warm bread served on the table, I couldn't stop eating it...In the end, the extra sauce from the pasta worked perfectly for dipping the bread with it, and always asked for it to be served warm, it makes all the difference. For Desserts, they brought some classic cannoli, which were too stiff and the cream was glued to it. We also had a white chocolate, lemon mascarpone with a scoop of ice cream , that actually was pretty refreshing because it balances the sweet and bitter on a sweet tasty spot. I would actually like to give it 3 stars and a half, but there is no option for it, still I would stop by this Italian restaurant if I'm around and hungry for pasta and of course the garlic warm bread !

This restaurant is a hidden gem. The food is delicious. The servers are always pleasant. The owner is frequently at the restaurant and is a true gentleman. The ambiance varies from quiet and romantic early on, to a little more trendy and louder as the hour gets later. I highly recommend this restaurant. Reservations are important later but they often have early (630ish) availability.

I honestly was shocked at how amazing this place was. I'm not sure who my server was, but he was very charismatic and attentive the scenery was very romantic and intimate. The food was absolutely amazing, the bread was warm, properly toasted, and had fragrant fresh garlic, and what I believe to be high grade. The carpaccio was top notch, the arugula, Parmesan, and the thinly sliced beef which was very different from other carpaccios I've had, I dressed mine with olive oil, and vinaigrette which added a sweet little compliment to an already perfect dish, finally the pasta which I expected to be salty, was absolutely perfect. The sauce was buttery, well seasoned, the fettuccine was al dente, and the sausage was not salty but had a savory sort of sweet taste to it with a beautiful snap. I'm by no means an Italian cuisine connoisseur but the food was amazing,

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in the 305. Recommended by another fellow Yelper, and Osteria Vecchio does not disappoint. The service is VERY friendly and fast, no reservations required for lunch but highly recommended for dinner and weekends. I was so impressed with the service and food that I've returned 3 additional times. Their homemade pasta dishes are the best in my opinion. It's Inside a small shopping mall, cute, small, and casual ambiance.

My favorite Friday lunch spot!! The service is amazing. The owner personally waits on us always. The food is beyond my expectations. I always have the branzino with the champagne risotto.

THE BEST DATE-NIGHT ROMANTIC SPOT IN MIAMI…read more Pane y Vino is one of those rare restaurants that gets everything right: charming, delicious, romantic, and completely unique. The décor has so much personality, and the entire experience feels wonderfully old-school--from the attentive service to the little details that make you feel genuinely taken care of. The owner is lively, charismatic, and absolutely charming, faithfully tending to her guests and making the whole room feel warm and personal. And then there's the food. The carpaccio was exceptional: paper-thin slices of fresh beef topped with delicately sliced mushrooms and a unique lemon crème that made the whole dish sing. The mussels were enormous, served in a spicy tomato broth so delicious you'll want to finish it with a spoon. Just when you think it can't get any better, dessert arrives. Homemade, gourmet, and prepared right at your table--and somehow it doesn't feel gimmicky at all. It's genuinely spectacular. The surprise hint of Nutella hidden beneath the delicate finger cookies takes it completely over the top. And if you love eggplant parmigiana, theirs is top of the line. The portions are hearty, the prices are surprisingly reasonable for the quality and experience, and the atmosphere is made for a romantic night out. One warning: make your reservation in advance. Pane y Vino gets packed, and once you experience it, you'll understand why.

One always think "if they have good ingredients they're going to be good" but apparently, Pane e Vino misses this notion: they have the best ingredients for sure but also the master hand of incredible chefs that make every dish unique. My mum had the Cannelloni di la Nonna, smooth, and delicious. My dad had the Maltagliatti, and he didn't talk after he finished. I was celebrating my birthday. And I asked for the Alla Ruotta, but with Pappardelle. Made Al dente, this pasta was smooth, with a a sauce that merged the best Italian tomatoes, and the best Parmigiano Reggiano. I added cheese on top of it, but that's because I'm an absolute fan. Then after they sang Happy Birthday to me - something I didn't ordered - they provided the table with THE ABSOLUTE BEST TIRAMISÙ I HAVE EVER TASTED IN MY EXISTENCE. Don't ask the ingredients, enjoy. You're absolutely welcome. Creamy, soft, fresh, all done at the very moment. It makes you question why this restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star... While the concept is the classic "Italian Hole-in-the-wall" and the ambiance is quiet, ideal for a romantic date, with dim lighting and soft music, there's always an artist making pasta at the window, and there's always time for the chiacchiere with Angelo. His stories of life and recipes are great, but also some Juventus talk, and how football evolves... amazing... amazing. Amazing food. Amazing people. Grazie mile, Marco e Angelo! Divina cuccina, divina famiglia! Un grande abbraccio argentino.

The best dish that I would eat again was the short rib meatball. Was great. Also on our table for apps was a salad and a pizza. Salad was fine. Nothing I need to write home about and the pizza was a little dry for me. The sauce and cheese were dry and it's also that kind of ultra thin pizzas that it's crunchy like a cracker. I ended up putting the sauce of the short rib meatball on the pizza and actually made it much better. My version of scarpetta:) actually speaking of doing a scarpetta the bread is so good. The focaccia was really tasty and glad we tried. Now the main event, the pastas. Don't hate me now but I didn't care for them! The amatriciana was soo salty and the guanciale was soggy. Not enjoyable to eat at all. The cacio e Pepe also was salty and yes I know the cheese makes it salty but it was too much and again not enjoyable. Both pastas were really not great and both were so so gummy. I found them to be so gummy. Not al dente but not overcooked. It was just such a weird consistency to eat. Desserts were fine. Banana made me surprised that I liked it and the tiramisu was meh for me. Not bad but dessert in general was okay. Service was phenomenal though!!

The menu is concise, to the point and mainly focused on traditional and/or comfort food in this case Italian. I can't believe I had it saved for so many years but today I got to experience some of the best food I've had in the city with the most remarkable service ever. This is a family owned restaurant and as a customer I felt as family too. Beto, the owner, makes you feel like part of his extended family from the moment you step foot in the joint and all throughout your culinary adventure. I hadn't made reservations and he made sure to find me a table for one even though it was super busy at the time. He also recommended a few dishes but ultimately convinced me to try one of the chef's specials which I've been talking about till this day. His staff is also very attentive and diligent. Having said that let me break down what I ate with a nice chilled glass of wine: Antipasto: Burratina...Fresh homemade burrata mozzarella on top of thin slices of prosciutto, basil and extra-virgin olive oil. Served with roasted red peppers and tomatoes. All fresh and with high quality ingredients without a doubt. I wanted something light before the pasta and this was very filling so I couldn't finish it but... Entre: Chef's special...Pappardelle Patagonia. Green flat homemade noodle with vodka sauce, Italian sausage, pancetta, mushrooms and fresh herbs. This was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in my life. Perfectly cooked "al dente" with a creamy vodka sauce that'd have you wanting to lick the damn plate. That Italian sausage was also so divine and they don't skimp on portions or ingredients. I'm glad Beto suggested this one instead of the Pappardelle Italian sausage. Dolci: cheesecake. I have no idea how I still had a little bit of room for dessert after that feast but this cheesecake was all worth it. Not overly sweet and very rich and velvety. This is arguably one of the best Italian joints in town. Just delicious Italian comfort food made with love and excellent service to got with it. Beto offered an espresso to end this extraordinary meal. He takes the time to go to every table and make sure customers are taken care of and that's what makes the difference. The tiramisu did not miss, smooth. Now the reason I didn't give it the last .5 earleir was simply a trick for you to read all this and for me to go try the rest of the menu.

Fantastic experience at Luca in Coral Gables! From the moment I sat down, bartenders Evita and…read moreOliver made me feel right at home. Both were incredibly warm, welcoming, and hospitable--exactly the kind of people you want behind any bar. It was my first visit, and Oliver offered some excellent recommendations, including the short rib bolognese, which was fantastic. A unique and delicious take on a classic dish. I wasn't planning on ordering dessert, but I can never say no to panna cotta, and it was absolutely worth the extra calories! Beyond the food and service, Luca has a wonderful neighborhood feel and a great vibe. I was dining alone on a business trip and grabbed a seat at the bar, which turned out to be the perfect choice. An excellent spot for solo diners and business travelers alike. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Coral Gables!

The menu is thoughtfully crafted, highlighting fresh ingredients that are perfectly balanced to deliver both flavor and quality. I highly recommend all their delicious pasta dishes; the ricotta appetizer is also exceptional a perfect blend of savory and sweet notes (I love the combination of almonds and figs, and here they pair beautifully). Felice handles every detail with natural elegance. The staff treats you wonderfully and ensures everything is perfect for you. Felice is a gem! As for parking, you can use the Four Seasons lot or park on the street near St. Jude Church. It's a place worth returning to again and again, and the prices are very reasonable. 10/10. They are pet-friendly, too ; my Mika loves it there. Very disappointing experience…read more I ordered the seafood pasta, priced at $34, and was shocked by how small the portion was. The dish felt more like an appetizer than an entrée. For the price, the value was simply not there. The tiny table made the experience even worse, leaving almost no room for plates, drinks, or personal items. Instead of enjoying the meal, I felt cramped and uncomfortable the entire time. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was genuinely disappointing. Charging premium prices while serving such small portions is embarrassing. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. Shame on them!!!! Please don't go.
