I'm simply doing this review now because I'm on a regular cadence of the carne asada taco diet at Osprey's. This place is the bomb.

Decided to give this place a chance after it was recommended by a friend who has lived his entire life in St.Augustine. We came in so excited, cute little store from the outside with a good logo. They have 4 picnic tables outside and some sitting on the inside. The first thing we noticed was the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned since they opened. 2 of the tables had ppl on them enjoying their food so we placed our order with no one else in front of us ordering or waiting for food we assumed it wouldn't take long. Well, about 25 min after placing our order we received our 5 tacos. Those tacos looked good... that's where it ended. Underwhelming, lacking flavor, mediocre and certainly overpriced for what you get. The Brussels sprouts on the Brussel sprout taco were burned not just crispy. The avocado taco had a dollop of mashed avocado not actual chunks and if it's the Main protein then it should be more than a tablespoon.. the San Diego taco was bland and nothing special. The crispy pork (just avoid at all cost) it felt as if they had roasted the pork and then fried chunks after it was cooked and it tasted oily and not the kind that comes from pork. The Carne asada was the least favorite.. if you have zero knowledge of food this place may be for you but honestly even TacoBell would have been better. Sorry, sharing facts. read more

Osprey Tacos is one of those hole-in-the-wall type of places that I would have never found without Yelp. It's a no frills taco joint with a few patio tables out front. You order at the counter and the food is brought out to your table once prepared. The tortilla chips (3.5/5) were decent and served in a plentiful portion, but a bit too over salted for my tastes. The queso dip (3/5) was also ok without being overly cheesy, but lacked the flavor kick a good queso has. The pollo asado traditional taco (4/5) was fresh, but the chicken was a little dry and lacked any distinguishing flavor. The pollo asado blackened taco (4.5/5) prepared Tex-Mex style added a decent array of flavors. It would have been nice if they offered a spicier pollo tinga option, but the overall meal was great for a reasonably priced lunch stop. Since Osprey Tacos is located just outside the historic core of St. Augustine, there is no struggle for parking as there is a free lot right next to the business. While it's not a fancy place with waiter service, it fits the bill for a nice and quick lunch stop of freshly prepared food by friendly people. read more

The tacos are so fresh and delicious. You can't order just one. Between my husband and I, we ordered 4 different types and we both agreed that all of them were delicious. If I had to pick, I would say I enjoyed the San Diego one the best! Great flavor! Osprey tacos has outdoor seating and is neighbors to a brewery. The chips and salsa and guacamole were very good, but the tacos seemed a little lacking. My baja fish taco didn't taste as 'fresh' as you'd want a fish taco to taste and the fish was a little crunchy. The pork fried rice taco was good but they loaded it up with pork to the point where I was taking pork out because it was too much. We also were told that our tacos would be delivered out to us on the patio but they declined to mention that if you sat on a specific side of the patio they would not deliver. So who knows how long my tacos were sitting under a heat lamp before I had to go in and get them myself. They just need to be more clear with their customers when stating whether they bring out the food or if you have to come back and get it yourself. read more

I found this place literally right next to the Anastasia Inn motel in St Augustine. It's a tiny place and there's not much seating but it wasn't too packed when we went. Some high tops inside and about 4 big picnic style tables outside. The prices are really reasonable. I would really recommend the San Diego Taco! It was so fresh and delicious. The steak tasted amazing and my friend who got the same one loved it! I also had a blackened chicken taco that was good as well but if I come back I'm definitely sticking with the San Diego. We also ordered chips and queso and the chips tasted good but were wet with grease and the cheese was TERRIBLE! Really watery and barely any flavor. The San Diego is the best Taco in town. The carne asada is tender and full of flavor. It's rare that I really love a Datil Sauce. This one is perfect! The sweet, fruitiness of the pepper shines through without a ton of extra sugar. So good! read more

These tacos are AWESOME. Great renditions of the classics (get everything traditional style), but even better are their original tacos. The San Diego, Saint Augustine, and pork fried rice tacos are all killer. Ingredients all seem super fresh and high quality, and the prices are reasonable. Drink choices are somewhat limited (though you can never go wrong with Modelo Negro), but the brewery next door more than makes up for that. You can sit over there with your food, or you can post up at one of the covered picnic tables. The only downside is that the wait can be impressively long, especially pre-concert. But worth the wait for a delicious, inventive (but still affordable) meal. read more

What a gem! I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this Taco Stand and met the owner. I told her I was vegan and she took the time and went over all the vegan options on the menu with me. To my delight, pretty much anything can be "Veganized" here. They carry the Bob's Red Mill, textured protein and use it like a taco meat replacement. It does not disappoint! My boyfriend and I split the following, Chips and Sala- so fresh and so much flavor Vegan San Diego Bowl- my favorite! I was expecting traditional french fries, but these were tiny and just as good. Also came with two scoops of super fresh guacamole! Huuuuuge serving! The protein, healthy carbs and fats made this so satisfying. Crispy Tofu Bowl- the tofu is prepared really well and I loved the creamy sauce that was on top. This was my bf's favorite dish. Dropped into Old Coast Ales Brewery for a hot sauce tasting, decided to pop in to Osprey Tacos for some tacos. Had no previous experience, no real expectations. Can say without a shadow of a doubt, best tacos I've had in St. Augustine! They had a great array of selections to choose from. I am going to have to go back, because I want to try EVERYTHING on the menu. It all sounded so delicious! I had the Fried Chicken (southern fried chicken, pickles, mayo, cole slaw), Cuban (pulled pork, prosciutto, Swiss cheese, pickles, mustard aioli), and a Carnitas street taco. Service was fast and pleasant. The greeter was so nice and fun to talk to. Food was very lean but tasted good. I ordered the steak taco on a corn tortilla. It had great seasoning and taste. The greeter (for lack of a better word) said to get two. And that was perfect for me for lunch. It did not weigh me down for the rest of the afternoon walking around there. Different type of taco than your ordinary Mexican Restaurant for sure. The building is an old gas station with a small outdoor patio. There were 8 of us and not a problem getting the large table. I saw a lot of positive reviews of this place, so I thought the food would be fantastic. Unfortunately, it fell very flat. Customer service was amazing!! The cashier was beyond friendly and very pleasant. This review doesn't reflect on the staff, who deserve 5 stars for their service. The food itself was so, so incredibly bland. I got the Baja taco and the blackened shrimp taco. There was literally no seasoning on the fish or shrimp. None. The only form of seasoning is a small amount of sauce that they put on top (which is bland) or they offer you salsa to put on top. The tacos were bland and filled with lettuce and cabbage. It was just weird. And the prices were high compared to the quantity and quality of food we received. 4 tacos (2 per person), a side of chips, and two drinks was around $30. That is just ridiculous to me! I will not be returning, and wouldn't recommend people who are looking for flavor and spice return. read more

I loved Osprey tacos. You have a lot of taco choices in St. Augustine and I thought this was the best. Not to mention you could have your food delivered to Old Coast Ales right next door (bonus). The menu is great with lots of tasty choices, you can get crispy tofu, and other veggie choices, Or my favorite was the Cuban ohh so good. The chips are made fresh, so is the guacamole and you can get 3 different types of salsa all very fresh and tasty. The service was so friendly and the place was nice and clean. They have tables outside undercover and you can sit out their and enjoy the Florida weather or take your food next door to enjoy with a tasty beer from old coast ales and that place is also top notch. The taco orders were messed up. I ordered my tacos to be on flour and my husband wanted corn - instead one for each of us was the opposite of what was ordered. I usually am not a big pork fan or into spicy but this was really good and not spicy at all. I had them put the sauce on the side just in case and the sauce makes the taco, seriously. Loved this place a lot! It was pretty busy on an afternoon and I'm not surprised. Their tacos were delicious and unique- better than a rival place down the street. Each was hefty too. I tried the grilled fish, tofu in a hoisin sauce I believe, and the avocado. Yum! Plus they're connected to a brewery so it seems like you can grab some brews and tacos and sit on either patio. Everything was delicious! We got 2 bowls and 3 tacos, all different, and we would be willing to order anything again. Cashier was very helpful and so friendly. The prices seem high, but keep in mind that the food is made by hand, and to order. For what you get (a quality meal with happy workers), the price is right. Well..we were disappointed . I gave it 3 stars for freshness and cool esa of their look and feel. Taste was bland. We took several bites of the rice and beans and did not eat the rest because it tasted sooooo bland; rice was white "uncle Ben's" style and the beans tasted like they cooked them plain OR took them out of the can, heated and served over rice. Definitely not authentic, and maybe this was never their claim. The idea is great, the logo and location cool. I ordered an avocado corn taco and a carne asada taco and expected flavor, nada! The cheese was barely even a pinch...my photo proves it. The carne asada was not tender enough and hardly any cilantro or onion, again plain tasting, it's a street taco !! What does cilantro cost? I added salsa verde and tried the Baja sauce but hardly helped. Again hot, fresh otherwise great ingredients but it's missing something. If you have a bland pallet then this place is for you. You'll love it!! It was quite busy with patrons. Your not going to get a California style street taco here let alone a Mexican one this coming from people who know. This is not a place for someone with a distinguishing pallet to try. I do hope they get better and better though because it is a cute place! Three stars for the number of shrimp in my shrimp taco. My husband and I laughed and called this place "ozempic taco." Two inch piece of fish in the fish taco. Don't bring an appetite, but everything is tasty. I think they're lucky the are next to the amazing brewery where you can grab some delicious IPAs. read more
