I've been wanting to try Osprey Tacos for a while but rarely get down that way. This weekend I decided to take a little drive down to grab some food. There were quite a few tacos I wanted to try but since I was taking the food to go I went with a shrimp taco bowl. The serving size was a lot bigger than I expected, it actually took me 2 sittings to finish it. The shrimp were cooked perfectly (too often it seems shrimp at more casual places like this end up overcooked). I also like the very environmentally friendly packaging (paper container, no unncessary plastic bag). The staff was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly and was piping hot when it was handed to me. They have 4 large picnic tables outside, all covered with a big fan. I love tacos. If I had to pick between pizza and tacos, I'd pick tacos every day. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised with Osprey tacos! We were driving down in St. Augustine and saw a sign for tacos and decided to pull over. It's actually a very small store front. Made of bar seating and a condiment area. The rest of the restaurant is actually outside that has picnic benches for more seating. They're located right next to Old Coast Ales so you could grab a drink while you wait for your tacos... or vice versa! The tacos are really full and filling. You get your money's worth and they are really tasty. They don't skimp on the fillings and you definitely get a hefty size taco. We ordered four and managed to spilt it with the boyfriend. Had three different tacos with the family. Sorry I don't know the quirky names. But this should pretty much describe them. Fried Shrimp taco, grilled shrimp taco, and pork with fried rice taco. All of these were delicious! So why only 4 stars? We have two little ones, a three-year old and a 7 year old. So we ordered a "kids quesadillas" for each of them. Unless there were ingredients not readily apparent to the tastebuds or to the eyes, it was literally a single flour tortilla with cojita and american cheese folded in half. While this was almost enough for my 3 year old, it was probably less than half what my 7 year old would eat in a meal. And they were $2.99 each. Sorry, but zero culinary know-how goes into making this, so why is it $2.99 for each half of a quesadilla? The menu literally states "grilled flour or corn tortillaS (emphasis mine) stuffed with melted cojita and american cheese." Last time I checked, it only requires a single tortilla to make half a quesadilla. Look it was only 2 × 2.99, but still, expectations + perceptions = reality. read more

First visit here. Very small location, with indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Service was fast and friendly, and on Mondays you can buy 2 get 1 Street Tacos. You can mix and match from the menu which includes gourmet style Boulevard Tacos, or more traditional Street Tacos. I tried the St. Augustine shrimp taco and the soy protein taco. The shrimp taco was great with a good flavor combo of creamy/tangy/spicy, but the soy protein taco was a little bland and did not provide much flavor. These tacos are on the smaller side, so I'd recommend at least two. The churros on the other hand were excellent. Hot and freshly fried, food size, and good ratio of cinnamon to sugar. If I could give Osprey Tacos six stars- I totally would. I was so immediately enchanted by this tiny little taco shop. This teeny little establishment boasts incredible tacos, guac, AND THE BEST CHURRO OF MY LIFE. I went in for the Tex mex taco and the cheeseburger tacos. Both were so fresh and so delicious. I also started with the guacamole. I'm a huge fan of guac and they knocked it out of the park! Yet again, such fresh ingredients! And naturally I had to end my meal with a freshly made churro. It might be dramatic, but holy guacamole....it changed my life. And if you know me at all, you know I can't resist a Mexican coke, which OF COURSE THEY HAVE! Top it off with friendly workers, and the most delightful aesthetics, I've found my new favorite taco joint in St. Augustine! And the big bonus?! It's next door to Old Coast Ales! This place is one of the hole in the wall taco spots that once you visit you'll never forget! Came here on a date and woah, the tacos here are one of the best. I got a brussel sprout and carnitas taco. I usually always go for the carnitas first but the brussel sprout one is out of this world!! I'm not usually a fan but dang... maybe I've been just cooking them wrong this entire time. The tacos are also a pretty good size! I got full off of one and a half (I am small) but you definitely get a lot for your money. The parking here is a bit tricky. Looks like a super clean, trendy version of a taqueria. It's small, bar seating inside, tables outside. And it complements Old Coast Ales next door perfectly. Look for the small "TACOS" sign on the side of the road if you are headed towards the bridge. As a local, I give it an overall, stamp of approval. It's not another coastal casual seafood place like everything else in St. Augustine (though they do use the words "catch of the day" on their menu). AND it makes going to Old Coast Ales (no food, beer only) into a one stop evening of brews n tacos. I will definitely be taking our visitors here to showcase St. Augustine. For $40 ($48 with tip): - 3 carne asada tacos ($4 each) - St. Augustine ($4.75) - San Diego ($4.50) - Side of white rice and pinto beans ($3) - Order of chips ($2) - Order of "hot" red salsa ($2.50) - A churro ($2) - 2 non-tecate bottles of beer ($3.75 each) Tacos were tasty, damn tasty. They have squeeze bottles of house made sauce in addition to various brand name hot sauces (yes!). The chili arbol sauce had more kick than the "hot" salsa (and it was delightful!) -- this sauce was actually the hot I was looking for. No other restaurant on the island comes close in offering properly hot hot sauce. The red "hot" salsa, though, is not hot to me. It's white people hot, like the medium salsas at Publix. The carne asada and 2 fancier tacos were delicious. The carne asada honed the traditional roots of just onions, cilantro, lime and radish. I very much appreciated the homage to "real" tacos. AND WOO! Corn tortillas! Not because I am gluten free, but because I love corn tortillas. But the beans are vegetarian and just like... cooked beans. Not vegetarian style charro beans. And white rice. Probably OK if you don't like eating animals, but they were missing that porkiness that makes frijoles worth eating to this carnivore. Churros are made to order (WHAT? YESS!!!). I think they will even deliver your food if you are at Old Coast -- and that's awesome. Sadly, I cannot in good faith give it 5 stars though based on 1 thing -- having to pay for both chips AND salsa. I did it, because I wanted to try their salsas, but it did not feel good. There is no way this would fly in Houston or Chicago. Maybe it's their way of making up for loss of profits from the usual restaurant money maker -- drink sales. But I can look past paying $4.50 for chips AND salsa. I mean, they take credit, so that automatically puts them ahead when looking for a place to grab some grub. Hoping this place stays around! We stopped in on our way home from the beach. Great spot, informal, plenty of outside seating. I had some of the fresh catch tacos, my wife had some shrimp tacos, and my boys had various meat tacos. All of them were exceptionally fresh and tasty. They had cold beer if you wanted or there is a brewery next door. Laid back easy in easy out, great after beach food. If I had to complain about anything, its that they are a little pricey but what isn't nowadays. It cost us a little over $70 for tacos for my family and a couple of beers. Went on a whim Friday night with a couple of friends to finally try this new spot. It's super conveniently located and although limited, there is a private lot for parking. As to be expected for a new hyped place, the outdoor picnic tables were packed and the line was nearly out the door, but the gal working the resister moved through everyone quickly and in a friendly manner. I noticed they have punch cards at the counter for a rewards program, but you get a stamp for any purchase of $10 or more and my order only came to $9-something. There were house tacos and speciality ones, so I settled on two from the specials board: crispy tofu and the southerner (because I love me some pork belly). Because of the amount of people, the gal that rang us up informed us it would be about 20 minutes so we headed next door for a beer at Old Coast. Almost 20 minutes on the nose go by and our names were called, so we brought the food back to our Old Coast table and we dug in. The flavor combos were insane (in a good way) and the pork belly was perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, Melt-in-Your-mouth on the inside. I also tried my friends' chips and guacamole and both were super good. The guac is chunky and you can tell they make it themselves. Overall, the shop is bright and fun and I love the artwork/branding. The picnic tables outside are a great way to enjoy casual food in the (FINALLY) fall weather. The flavors were great and the service was friendly. I'm still probably going to be local to Mojo's for a classic taco (like mahi, or chicken, or shrimp) because of the larger size and double-decker technique, but Osprey's wins hands-down for unique ingredient combos and cool location with its proximity to Old Coast. read more
