I drove out of my way to come here due to some of the good reviews. Let's just say I am not impressed. I needed two pairs of pants hemmed and was told a 3 week wait time or I would have to pay $9.99 per item to expedite. After getting fitted, I mentioned I wanted to maintain the double stitch on the pant leg. After waiting 3 weeks, I returned and everything was done using a single stitch. I was told I could leave them another week or come back another time to get it fixed. I opted to leave and not give this place any future business. When I went to pay, I was told the total was $49 and change. They said each pants hem was $23 plus tax. Absolutely outrageous. Will not return. read more

I am a huge supporter of small business and prefer to patronize them first instead of turning to chain companies. Sadly this was a poor choice, especially with a time-sensitive, express tailoring job. Last week I brought in my bridesmaid's dress for a friends wedding that I EXPLICITLY told the owner I needed no later than Saturday because the wedding was Sunday. He wrote that down on my purchase order and charged a premium since it was an "express" order. I left happy and waited to hear back from him. On Friday evening near their closing time the owner left me a message saying the dress was ready. I went Saturday to pick it up and lo and behold, they were closed early! I panicked and went to the neighboring businesses to see if they had his personal number or any other way of contacting him but no luck. I could not be in the wedding without my dress of course so I called the bride and miraculously there was a spare dress on hand that didn't fit another bridesmaid that I was able to wear. I left a note on the door, several messages on their answering machine, and then just let it go for the weekend so I could enjoy the festivities. It was almost NOON on Monday morning before the coward called me back and left me a rude, curt message telling me to come pick up my dress. Having a small business means knowing your customers and paying attention to details. This place is ALWAYS dead, and they were NOT busy at all, yet still were unable to notify me that they were closing early or to at least tell me their hours in the voicemail they left? I am certain they saw my dress hanging on their completed rack with the yellow tag and SATURDAY written across it! I picked up the dress yesterday and the owner was so rude, no aplogy, no excuse, no words, no nothing! Instead of using choice curse words in both English and Spanish I decided to hit him where it hurts and let other patrons know this place is not worth their time, money or effort. You'd have better luck with a stapler and tape then getting any level of service from these losers. read more

Oscar is the best and he can do it all. I bought a suit from Men's Warehouse last year. After having it tailored I was still disappointed with the fit. Oscar fixed them and they look and feel great. Oscar is amazing. awesome. the bomb. I trust him to alter all my expensive clothes, and he always does a great job, guarantees his work, and has it ready on time. You can even pay (a tiny) $5 to have it ready the next day. Don't believe the negative review, I have several friends who take all their clothes to him. I even moved way south and still make special trips to drop things off with him. He understands clothing construction, never takes short-cuts on the alterations, and does a flawless job. I love the holiday sales; its a great time to buy some new clothes. Having a limited selection in Austin, I shopped in San Antonio and bought 2 new suits. That left the problem of having alterations. After checking multiple on-line reviews, Oscar's Tailors came to my attention. I was not disappointed- the pants required cuffs, taking in of the seat, letting out a vest, and some padding in the shoulders. The clothes were ready when I returned 3 hours before their ready time. The tailor overlooked moving one button, but quickly took care of this. If you are looking for professionalism, high quality work, and a reasonable price, consider Oscar's. I guess you'll have more luck being a guy, but Oscars has come through for me not once but twice;) The first time, he relined a shearling jacket after I bought the pelts online. Only ONE other shop would do this and Oscar did a beautiful job at a very reasonable price. 8 years later, I brought over a Russian Shearling greatcoat and Oscar did a beautiful job relocating the buttons, using upholstery thread and doing it by hand. I'm very impressed with Oscar's work! I'm one of those women who has always endured the back waistband gap on jeans and pants. After buying several new pairs of jeans last year, then losing about 20 lbs this year... I decided to give alterations a try. Oscar's is just a few minutes from my office... and my first trip out I learned to avoid the lunch hour... although he has 1 designated parking spot, between the new restaurant, Delaware Subs and Jack Brown... there was no place to park. Since it's only 5 minutes from work, I came back an hour or so later. Oscar very quickly marked where the alternations were needed and said they'd be ready in a week. That was fine with me (autumn is slow coming this year). When I picked them up, the waist band looked great and they fit better than they ever fit before. I dropped off 3 more pair and just picked them up today. Again, flawless job and they all fit great. He does give a 10% discount if you drop off more than one item (each pair was $25, less 2.50 ... for 22.50 each + tax). I sew and I've altered dress pants or items with simpler waistband construction, but I think jeans-type seams, the stitching, belt loops, etc made this more than I wanted to deal with. I don't need to buy new jeans because mine fit me perfectly now! read more

I have been a regular customer since 2007 and never have had any problems. The tailor (also the owner) always does everything I ask for with my clothes, and I have been losing weight so I bring a lot of clothe in to the shop. You get your clothe done when the ticket says, and it is your job to pick it up at regular business hours; which by the way is on the door when you push it open. Somehow that can be a difficult task for someone to follow since they complained. It is your own responsibility to check business hours; if you are not able to pick up the clothe it is not the tailors fault. He does his job and it gets done correctly so why complain for the job done well. For all of you who have nothing better to do other than complain about small businesses, maybe you should try being a bit more responsible with your own stuff. This place is great, the owners are very friendly and this guy does the job right. If you ever need any alterations try Oscar's Tailors, you won't regret it, I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

Oscar has always done exactly what he promised - often he exceeds expectation. Unfortunately most of us expect to be disappointed and I admit a couple years ago when my wife said she had found a tailor in whom she had confidence, I wasn't convinced. The worst ever! I had purchased a suite for a specific presentation I had to give to some very important people. The pant legs were too long and needed a hem of 1 inch. Even though I had a prior poor experience with Oscar Tailor before, I gave him a second shot and brought the suite pants to be hemmed. When I brought them in, I had showed him the exact line where it needed to be hemmed. It was exactly an inch. He haphazardly marked it with a grease pencil on one side of one pant leg. This already made me feel uneasy but I figured he knew what he was doing. The ticket that he gave me said I could pick it up the following Tuesday after 4. My presentation was on Wednesday at 11am so it was no problem. I was travelling that Tuesday and was unable to pick it up between 4 (the time it was promised) to 6pm (the time he closes). I knew he opened at 9:30 am the next morning as his hours are clearly posted on his business window. I arrived there at 9:30 but no one was there. I get it, people can be a few minutes late now and then. Then it was 9:40, and then 9:50 and still no one had arrived to the business. I finally had to leave at 9:52 because I had to quickly go home and scramble to put on another suite that was no prepared. After my presentation (which really didn't go well because I was not comfortable from the suite mishap. I'm sure most can appreciate that) I went back to Oscar to pick it up. When I entered, as usual, you're not acknowledged for a few minutes. I gave him my ticket and he retrieved my pants and a suite coat I had a button put back on. When I looked at the hem, he had made the hem 2 1/2 inches above the bottom of the pant legs. I asked him why is the hem so high. He replied, "you make it and I hem at the mark." I replied to him that he was the one who mad the mark. The length was correct but he didn't cut off the excess material. He just hemmed it up 2 1/2 inches from the bottom. It looks ridiculous like a child did it and doesn't set right on the shoe at all. I asked him why he made the hem so high rather than cutting off the excess material. He replied, "that's the way I always do it." At this point I'm fairly frustrated and proceed to tell him how I waited this morning for him to open his business during the advertised hours. He looks and me and says, "why didn't you come in the evening before between 4 and 6 to pick it up?" I replied that I was travelling. And then I asked him, "so you're blaming me for you not being hear or being open during your advertised hours?" He looks at me and says, "well I'm sorry." Then I see the hem even closer and the pant legs are uneven by about a 1/4 inch. I'm like really?! As he is charging my card he said, "ok I will cancel the charge, You just go." I grabbed my clothes and left. As I'm walking out he said to me in a very condescending tone, "God bless you." When I got home I noticed he charged me anyway. So he is also a liar! This is the worst tailor with the worst customer service with the worst quality of work with the worst turnaround time with the worst attitude when something goes wrong that is clearly his fault. He had no sincerity or concern for my experience whatsoever. I will never go back and recommend that no one ever use him. You'll see the video on YouTube soon with all the proof. read more
