A few months back I merged my frim with some colleagues I have known for many years. This required some rebranding of our website and shushing it up if you will. We hired a photographer and gathered our team together for a photo shoot in the next few weeks. The photographer provided us with clothing recommendations and that is when I had the Aha Covid moment. I hadn't worn a suit or a business jacket in years. Pre-Covid for sure. To be fair, I rarely did to begin with, but I did have a suit and a couple of jackets. I pulled them out and to my surprise, none, I mean not a single one of them fit. It wasn't that I had gained significant weight, but the last 3 yrs I have been regularly working out with a trainer. The jackets fit as well as the jackets Pee-Wee Herman used to wear. I needed a jacket and needed it in a few weeks. I have driven by Capra, numerous times over the years and promised myself, that I would treat myself and pick up a suit there one day. Well this was a perfect time to do so. I grabbed Suz to head out to Capra. They are easy to get to and have a parking garage at no cost. Which is a plus. We walked in to the store and behold, all sorts of suits, jackets, shirts, slacks. I mean everything a dude could wish for. I made my way in and Ivan approached me and asked if he could be of service. I explained why I was there and my timeline. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to have a suit made in time for the photo shoot, but he did let me know of a very nice high end line of ready made, if you will. We looked at swatches and being a favorite of blue, found a colour that I really liked. He looked at me and said, I believe your are a 48R, which I was a few years ago. So we slipped one on and immediately went to a 50R, if I remember correctly. He jumped on a call quickly, only to find out they didn't have one in stock that size, but had options. Again, this was a timeline issue for me. I knew I was pushing finding something of quality with only a couple of weeks notice. Ivan had an alternative, which was actually my second favorite, so we went with that version. He let me know it would be shipped in a few days and he would give me a call once at the store to be fitted. True to his word, he called and I was off to get fitted. The jacket was everything I expected. Fine tailoring, wonderfully soft material and the colour was perfect. He spent about 5-10 minutes fitting it, making chalk lines and let me know when it would be ready to pick up. Less than a week later, I popped by to pick it up, it was fitted correctly and off I went. Ivan was polite, insightful, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. A pleasure to work with. I will find a time to come back and have a suit made at Capra and find reasons to wear as often as possible. What a great experience all around. read more

(It was 3:00 Friday afternoon when I found out, and his flight was scheduled for Sunday afternoon.) Ken was amazing! Ok, so I'm not a big suit guy, but after meeting Ivan I want all the suits. In all seriousness it is very rare to meet someone so passionate about their craft that it is infectious. Came across this place sort of by random looking for a unique suit for my upcomming wedding. My fiance and I walked in and met a guy working there named Buddy Estrella. The guy knows his stuff! made us feel welcome and comfortable and spent at least an hour and a half going over all kinds of details with us in order to create an amazing custom suit. Customer service didn't stop there though. I received several follow up emails and calls to keep me up to date on how the suit was coming. then had not 1 but 2 seperate fitting with him so get could make minor adjustments so the suit came out just right. Best men's store in Austin in terms of service and offerings. After striking out at Stag, Nordstroms, Nieman Marcus and Ralph Lauren, I went to C&C on a Sunday afternoon and walked away with a sports coat, two shirts and a pair of pants for half of the price of a single jacket I tried on at Nieman Marcus. The quality of C&C is great - good, classic men's styles. The customer service is always great, I was given solid service and even offered a beer while I shopped. Rene was great. My husband is making a shift in careers, from Army Captain to Financial Planner. So basically, he's worn a uniform for his entire adult working life and has never had to think about outfits or matching or professional attire. He needed serious help. After researching and learning about markers of quality in a suit and reading reviews of various local and state-wide places and weighing all the options, we headed to Capra & Cavelli one Sunday afternoon. My husband walked up to the sales-woman and essentially said 'I don't know how to dress myself and I need two suits, top to bottom. Help me'. He spent the next three hours trying on suits and shirts and ties and shoes and belts. I, happily, sat in a comfortable leather arm chair and watched my husband transform from Captain Webster to an excited, professionally-dressed civilian. Ya'll, it brought tears to my eyes. The sales-woman (totally spacing on her name) was helpful, knowledgeable, and *good*. She kept second guessing herself and saying 'Oh, Ken will have to double check me on this'. But my husband says that when he went back the next day for the final fitting, Ken didn't change a thing she did. So nice sales-lady, you are awesome, never doubt that. :) (Also, I wasn't there for the Ken-trip, but my husband said he was a 'stand-up guy') She helped him decide between colors and styles, shirt cuts and good basic colors to have, which ties matched best. I sat there, all giddy and smiley, and watched her do all the work and my husband make all the decisions. The alterations and pressings were made within 4 days. 4 days, people. The suits look fabulous and my husband loves them. And I love him in them. It's hard leaving the military lifestyle, but in all seriousness, these suits have helped just about more than anything. How I wanted to like C&C... I have written before about how much I liked this store but recent experience has taught me to save my time (and money) and shop elsewhere. Earlier this year I bought some trousers and had them tailored to fit my height. These were very nice and cost me twice what I've ever paid for pants before. "Its an investment" I told myself, "you've got to look good for work." The pants were great for about four months. Recently though the hem in one of the legs gave out. Odd since I only wear these sparingly and just for work, but whatever, I'll just take them back I thought. Still, for a couple of hundred bucks you'd expect things to last a little longer. Yesterday I returned the trousers to the store, taking them directly to the counter and placing them there as two sales clerks were already there. Both of them were texting. Neither looked up, although one kept glancing at me without raising his head. There was not another customer in the store. After an uncomfortable few minutes, a third clerk came out from the back of the desk carrying some paper. He looked at me, didn't say a word, and then placed the paper on the desk and began shuffling it around. The other two kept texting. This is not the first time I have been ignored in this store (see my review of 12/19/12). Finally Stephanie (who is the only salesperson you should ever deal with there) came into the store from the parking garage. She looked over at me, standing at the counter while three men stood on the other side of the counter ignoring me. "Have you been helped?" she asked. "Nope" I said, and then she proceeded to help me. This proves by the way that one woman can do the work of three men. Better. I don't know why the guys ignored me and I don't really care. Having bought a sport coat, some shirts, a pair of trousers and a suit in the last two years I think I've done my part to try and establish a relationship with C&C. Apparently its not something they want to have with me though, so I will oblige them. Once I pick up my re-tailored pants I won't be back. read more

My mans came here with ZERO knowledge about suits, and in a few months time he walked out with a suit that couldn't have fit him better and an experience that he will never want to replace. Come here and you better get a hold of VICTOR because you will NOT regret it. Victor is not only extremely professional and knowledgeable about his suits, but he is also VERY easy to get along with and his charming personality will keep you wanting to come back and see him. Not a joke. =) He is not pushy at all and is very patient and enthusiastic. My mans was looking for a suit in preparation of an Oil and Gas job interview and Victor offered him various options that he saw fit for the industry, purpose and the client's physique which in this case was a tall, awkwardly V shaped handsome man. The only reason I gave Capra and Cavelli a 4 star review is because I seriously scored today. Normally, I would have given it a 3, at least for the women's clothing section. I didn't deal with the men's side of things. So how did I score? Tucked in the back corner near all the high-end "old lady" clothes was a 75% off rack with VOOM clothing on it. I happen to LOVE Voom, but had not yet acquired one article of VOOM clothing because normally it's in the $200-300 range for tops and dresses. So among the fancy/frilly old woman blouses, I find the most adorable dress. It's not only my favorite color (yellow), it's also got these adorable birds on it! It's a sun dress so I may have to wait a few months to wear it, but I practically stole the thing for $42. I also found some other really cute stuff and ended up getting this gorgeous silk top (silver) also with a bird on it. VOOM has a lot of bird stuff. The shirt cost $5 more than the dress but was worth it. The sales lady was really sweet and it was a very awesome experience for me to find 2 things I absolutely love! I don't know that I'll come back. I am glad to have the cute clothes, but at the same time, they only had 1 rack of clothes I would ever even consider wearing. I suppose if you're older or looking for work clothes, this place is a high quality place, that tailors the clothes to fit you perfectly. Hope this helps. read more

I have lived in Turin, Italy for 5 yrs and trust me when i say that i can spot an excellent suit or tuxedo from miles away. I searched hopelessly for my wedding tuxedo until i met Buddy. Four visits was all it took! First visit: Looked around the store to make sure it was my standard and then i talked to Buddy about a possible material choice. He gave great advice and most importantly he listened to my every detail and took notes. Second Visit: Made payments. I was given a great reception as they always did during all my visits. I've never written a positive review for this type of store because I've never had much success at them. Being a jeans and T-shirt kind of guy, I'm the book that is judged by its cover when I walk in. Talk about leaving a bad taste in one's mouth. However, every now and then I need to "fancy" up for a special occasion, and when I do, I want to look my absolute best. Enter Capra & Cavelli. When you go here, ask for Buddy Estrella. Here is a wonderful man who knows his craft extremely well. So much so that I cannot see myself ever going anywhere else ever again. His keen eye sees details that others miss (or choose to ignore), and he fits you as if he were tailoring a suit for himself. You won't walk out of that store with a product that is less than perfect. And when it comes to Buddy's personality and stellar customer service, I challenge you to find better. It's just under two weeks till my wedding and I try on my suit, which was purchased from men's warehouse. After staring at myself in the mirror, for what seemed an eternity, I came to the realization that I did indeed look like a butler. My lovely betrothed was going to marry someone who resembles Mr. Belvedere. No way Jose Canseco, I'm going to look great for the big day and everyone will tell me as such. So off to the google machine I go, in desperate search of an establishment that knows what they are doing. Capra & Cavelli screamed at me from the deep, dark corners of Yelp - letting me know that Buddy Estrella was my guy. After reviewing the overwhelmingly positive reviews, for what seemed an eternity, I came to the realization that 3500 Jefferson St, was my next stop and boy did they deliver. I walk in frantic, looking for the suits and hoping to find one that fits, off the rack. Immediately, I was greeted by someone from behind the counter, who was willing to help me, on this desperate quest for the perfect suit. And deliver it in just under two weeks, fitted perfectly. A tall order indeed and before I know it, Buddy Estrella emerges to shake my hand and make it happen. At first, I was worried, because I doubted his capability to deliver on such short notice. Immediately, he reassured me that he would do everything in his power to help my cause, starting with a book of patterns, then providing me timeframes for fittings, alterations, and final pickup. Let me tell you this everybody, Buddy knows his suits. He is one of those rare salesmen, that actually love what they do and it shows. Completely knowledgeable and gave me a brief history on the type of suit, I was interested in. It came in, just as promised - on the delivery date, right before I walked in for alterations. Those were quickly measured and he explained that my suit would be ready for pickup on Friday, the day before my wedding. Wow... here I am about to get married and I don't even have my suit yet, but Buddy's reassurance, filled me with confidence. I picked it up on the Friday after a final try on, with all my accessories. He even created the perfect pocket square and gave me a breakdown of how to wear my suit, care for it and how to match it, for more casual events. Fast Forward 24 hours and my wedding day has arrived. Almost every single guests, made it a point to tell me how amazing I looked. My new father in law (hard to please sometimes) even messed with the fabric and told me that it was one of the finest suits he has ever seen. I've never been more pleased with a salesman and I'm someone who tries to stay away from them, at all costs. I just bought my second suit here, the first was two years ago, maybe three. They are expensive, but to me having good service is important. And having a well fitted suit is something that requires good service. My first suit took a couple months and cost about $1300. It was made to order from a swath of material I chose. When it arrived my salesman was not there and some other salesman handed it to me without offering to ask me to try it on. So I did so anyway. No one asked to look it over so I had no idea if the vents were straight in back. What I could see of the fit was reasonable so I left. I was bothered that no one helped me but since it seemed to fit, I wasn't overly concerned and I came back for another suit a month and a half ago. This time I found a suit I liked in the store. It just needed some alteration; it needed sleeves altered on the jacket, and the hem and seat for the pants. The suit was even more expensive, $2000, but I don't mind paying for good personal service. I assume that I'm overpaying for the suit, it's the fitting I value. But this place is more like a slick car dealership than a place for fitting fine clothing. The salesmen appear to only work on commission and once they have your money, they are done. It took a month to get these simple alterations but the job was botched. Pants were two inches too long and the seat wasn't even touched. They promised to fix it quickly. A week and a half later I had to call them to ask where was my suit. I'm going to pick it up today. I might not even bother try it on because if it doesn't fit I surely won't give it to them to fix again. Here's a clue: If a clothier doesn't have tailors on site then stay away. And don't pay full price until the job is done. This place won't lift a finger for good service once they have been paid. Both salesmen I had are very nice and friendly. But I have friends. I'm looking for a well fitted suit. I'm not going back for another suit again. The suit is nice, but no nicer than is available elsewhere for a lot less money, and Capra & Cavelli won't get you a good fitting by a tailor. Update later the same day: I arrived at the store and met the salesman. He handed me the suit and ushered me to the changing room. The pants were shoddily tailored. It had a huge hump in the back just below the belt line, as though it was designed to hide a tail! The lapels on the jacket were pressed radically incorrectly. Somehow the salesman was able to walk it across the street to the tailors and get this gross incompetence fixed in about twenty minutes. I stand by this rating and I'll never come back. I'll find a good tailor to get it fitted to the standards that I expected for what I paid, it fits close enough for now. I'm not going to even pretend this shop even has a clue as to how to properly fit clothing. read more

We will cherish our wedding pictures for years to come, so a well-fitting dapper suit was necessary. One that also fit my personality and allowed me to express my individual style and really stand out, well that was aboveboard. I walked into Capra & Cavelli based off the many positive Yelp reviews...and its appropriate that I write a review to concur with the positive experience. I had no idea what/how to buy a suit for my wedding, I just knew it was time to get one...and for this once-in-a-lifetime occasion, I wanted it done right. I was greeted first by Buddy Estrella...not with a 'what can I do for you' greeting, but really a 'hi, how's it going' and informal chit-chat that certainly makes for an immediate comfortable setting...which showed me right out of the gate that customer service will be stellar, which to be honest...is what I hope for most when shopping. Eventually I explained my needs, and for the remainder of my time spent with Buddy, my needs where matched perfectly. Buddy was patient and so very helpful to a newbie like myself. To make a long-story short, I eventually chose the exact pattern and suit he 'saw' me in for my wedding day, and I was told that I looked 'pretty damn good'. Those aren't my words...I'm too humble for that. I felt comfortable though, and admit that the alterations Buddy did made all the difference in presentation. He is an extremely friendly guy, and obviously is passionate and very experienced about his work. I enjoyed collaborating with Buddy...and had a great time! Because of his suggestions, I selected a shirt that was very different from what I originally intended to buy. Not everyone volunteers information so freely, and this, along with his impeccable taste, makes Victor's assistance extremely valuable to me. I had to get a suit jacket tailored and all the other tailors in Austin told me that it couldn't be done. As a last resort I brought it to Capra & Cavelli and after taking a look at it they were able to get it back to me in two days. I highly recommend this place to anybody looking for quality clothes.
