My experience at Z Couture was extremely disappointing and upsetting. When we walked into the store, the woman working there did not greet us or make us feel welcome at all. Her attitude immediately felt cold and uninviting. As people of color, we couldn't help but notice that she appeared much friendlier and more attentive to other non-colored customers in the store. We looked around on our own and found a couple of dresses we liked. When I asked where we could try the dresses on, instead of walking us to the fitting rooms or offering assistance, she simply pointed and said, "there's people over there if you need help," without any effort to actually help us. Later, while my sister was trying on dresses, the employee spoke to us in a very rude and unfriendly tone, saying that she had to zip the dress herself. We completely understand store policies, but it was the way she said it that felt disrespectful. When I told her we didn't appreciate how she spoke to us, her response was that she didn't care. This situation was especially upsetting because this is my sister's first and last prom. She actually found a dress she liked, but the poor customer service made her feel so uncomfortable that she decided to leave without buying it. No one should feel unwelcome or treated differently while shopping, especially during such an important moment. Customer service makes a huge difference, and sadly, our experience at Z Couture did not reflect kindness, professionalism, or respect. I truly hope management takes situations like this seriously and works to ensure that all customers are treated equally and respectfully. read more

Absolutely horrible Service bought my daughter's prom dress and they offered a discount or to fix the dress. I asked them to fix the dress. They told me it would take a certain amount of time. It took four days past that time and then when we came to pick it up, the dress was still damaged and stained they did not accommodate me in anyway whatsoever they still charge me full price, which is ridiculous when the dress is not in pristine condition and it cost $757. This business is a fraud and nobody should shop here. The manager on duty is not willing to work with you in anyway to compensate you for the dress being damaged even after they were supposed to fix it. read more

Finding an evening gown or prom dress can be quite challenging. I had searched high and low all over Austin from David's Bridal to Barton Creek mall to no avail. I was looking for special occasion dresses to fit my vision: refined and not too run of the mill. If you are in the same boat then start at this boutique because I have found success with two beautiful dresses from here. I love the layout of the store. I have been to dress warehouses which get overwhelming. This is a smaller boutique with dresses arranged by size then by color. The staff greets you and gets an idea of what you are shopping for. When it's time for a fitting room they take your dresses and set them inside the curtain for you. They kindly offer to help zip you up and are very respectful, never did I feel uncomfortable. Outside of the fitting room is a catwalk with a big mirror. They have an alterations person if you need one but be mindful that prom season gets very busy. The sales are final but if the dress is right then you know that won't be a problem. People told me I looked like a princess in the dresses I got from here and they made me feel beautiful :) read more

BODY SHAMING TEENAGERS!! Too bad there is not an option for zero stars. My daughter, who is learning to love herself after dealing with a severe eating disorder, went in to try on a prom dress. My daughter is a fit athlete in a very small size but the woman that worked there refused to allow her to try on the size that we know fits her. She looked my daughter up and down and said, "you have to try on a larger size so you don't ruin my dresses. You're too big for those dresses." Shame on you!! It's a lot harder than they made it seem, I wish one of the girls would have suggested that Z Couture could do it for me. We did pay $1K (including a generous tip and tax) for this dress and I just don't think I should be doing this myself. I took my daughter today to look for a prom dress the lady was so rude didn't allow my oldest daughter to go in the dressing room with my teenage daughter while waiting a Hispanic mom was not allowed to go in the dressing room either with her daughter but the white mom was allowed to go in the dressing room with her daughter I saw it very rude and prejudice against Hispanics, we weren't there to steal but to let my teenage enjoy her day looking for her prom dress . Just bought a ball gown yesterday with Lori's help. We only had one miscommunication which we both worked it out. The first time I called to inquire about dresses, I did not get any warm and fuzzies from the person on the line (not sure who it was but I know it was not Lori). Yes, it's off-putting that one cannot take a picture to see how a dress looks. Not sure the reason behind owners of shops about no photography, but it's that way at Heritage boots as well. It's their store so I'll respect it. After I bought the dress, Lori was nice enough to snap a picture for me in my dress. Not sure comments on cheap quality dresses, but the Sherri Hill dress I bought is of high quality. I'll post pictures of me in my gown once I go to the event, which is February. If you like high quality dresses without the Neiman Marcus or should I say, needless markup? Z couture is a hidden Austin gem. If you're offended like I was, just confront in a respectfully way to work things out. Sometimes misunderstandings just happens. Also, make darn sure you want the dress before purchasing because it's a no return policy. Doesn't matter if you didn't wear it, within 30 days ectra..... Another thing that's off-putting is when you spend hundreds of dollars for a dress and in order to get a nice garment bag, you must purchase one For around $13. PLEASE READ!!! NEVER EVER COME HERE. EATING DISORDER NIGHTMARE! Came here a few days ago and had the worst experience. I wish I could put 0 stars. Like most girls, I've been looking forward to senior prom dress shopping since I was little. I cried in the dressing room. First off, the fact that they have all the 00 dresses in the front so you have to walk by all these gorgeous dresses that are unrealistic for most girls to get to the small selection they have in the back is a first bad sign. Second, the employees are so rude! To paint a picture, I am normally a size 2 or 4, and wear a size XS but I have real proportions, I have curves. So of course, I thought a size 2 and 4 meant, size 2 and 4. I was made to feel stupid for the fact that I didn't realize that they had things sized differently. Immediately upon going into the dressing room, the associate running working the dressing room girl looked me up and down, and asked what size dresses I had grabbed. I said I was unsure and she goes "oh so you just pulled from everywhere, you have a size 2, that's not gonna fit, a size 4, also not fitting, and a size 6, not gonna work." and that's true I grabbed multiple sizes, because I am unsure of my size. I am in eating disorder recovery and so measurements can be really triggering so I didn't know that there was such a big difference in these dresses versus others! She looks at me and goes "you look like a size 10, maybe you could fit into an 8" and I stood there in awe for a second, because I didn't know. Then I tried on a size 8 dress, and she zips it up and acts as if it's hard to tie the bow (it was actually loose on me) and then she asks if I'm done yet. That's all she said. When a girl who's much skinnier walks out in a smaller dress the associate says "oh my goodness that dress fits your body so beautifully!" And made me feel horrible. I then tried on a size 6 dress, which did indeed fit me most of the way. I have a bigger ass and thighs, so it didn't pull down all the way, and I got stuck. I was claustrophobic and tried to work my way out but I couldn't. I asked for help because these are heavy dresses in which you need to dive into. She laughed at me. I was vulnerably stuck, anxious, and she told me off for trying on "the wrong sized dress". I had said jokingly, "has this ever happened before" and she goes "this? Literally have never had this happen." and she kept mentioning how it was not my size, and saying how she had warned me. I had come with my friend in a smaller body size than I am. After I took off the dress, the worker snatched it and handed it to her saying that it would look beautiful on her. She's a size 0, and the employee complimented my friend and every other girl who were that size. I sat down inside the dressing room and silently sobbed. I messaged my mom and also my eating disorder clinician because I was having such a bad panic attack I didn't even want to move. When my friend asked if I was trying another dress on I lied and said yeah and sat in the dressing room pretending to try on dresses too while I cried and was afraid to come out of the room. Nobody should EVER have to experience that. Also, they engaged into girls' insecurities! A girl said "oh I'm too fat for this" and THE EMPLOYEE AGREED. So much fatphobia here! I'm not a large person, but they made me feel like I was a mammoth. The way they treated me made me feel undeserving of wanting a pretty dress to wear to my senior prom, and felt unworthy of respect. A body image nightmare all around. Employees are so very rude UNLESS you are a size 0, rectangular bodied, rich, white girl. I'm none of those things. Not to mention all the unprofessional replies to ACCURATE reviews that were posted on Google and I'm probably going to get one too! So unprofessional, rude, and I wish everyone who have a similar experience aren't afraid to leave an honest review too. Summary: NEVER COME HERE! They literally should pay for my next eating disorder recovery appointment, because they sure brought on a whole LOT to talk about. read more

I love this store! It's my go-to for formal wear. I love the dresses, the store, the workers. They are super helpful and they always let me know if the dress is a yay or nay! It's my Princess store. Dresses can be pricey, but they are of great quality. I've purchased 3 dresses from them now. They never disappoint! I did buy my daughter's dress for Prom last year at full price and they even ordered us one so that we had a brand new, never been tried on dress! I've bought the other 2 dresses off the sale racks! One had minor flaws and were easy fixes. The dress was originally over $450 and was marked down to $150! It fit perfectly and I spent less than $40 to fix a couple of things on it and have it dry cleaned. It was a steal! My 3rd dress I got yesterday. A dress I ordered from Seattle didn't make it in time for last nights' 3rd Annual Ball Gown Pub Crawl in Georgetown that was a charity event benefitting HELP Crisis Assistance for victims of crisis. Walked in and was asked to fill out a paper, so I did. A woman then asked me my pant size and I responded with 16/18 she said they size up on dresses so she guided me to the 20+ section. I then found a beautiful yellow dress and proceeded to walk around and look some more. While I was looking at other dresses a group of girls that worked there proceeded to stare and laugh at me. Why? I don't know. So while I was shopping the laughter continued. I then went to try on the dress in the fitting room and the dress was WAY too big. I walkout of my dressing room and handed the associate standing at my fitting room the dress. She then asked me how it fit and I said it didn't fit me at all, then she proceeded to ask me "do we need to find you a bigger size?" And that question is what I'm writing this review about, if you're gonna work in clothing know to ask the right questions. We had a great experience picking out a prom dress here. My stepdaughter is a curvy size 16 so we drove up to Austin just for their plus size selection, which was really fantastic. It was so nice to take her to a place where she didn't have to be embarrassed by her size or settle for the one discount dress left in her size hidden in the corner. I was at Zcouture with my bestfriend shopping for a prom dress. Another good friend of ours recommended this place, as she found her dress here. When we walked in they asked us to fill out this form with our information. I was not planning on going to prom and wanted to help my friend, but if i found a dress that was reasonably priced and fit me well i would've considered it. As my friend and I were walking around looking for dresses an older woman with short blonde hair who was on the heavier side came up to us and took the dresses from me to set aside. She asked my friend and I if we had filled out the slips in the front and i responded with "my friend did, but i did not. I'm helping her shop because i wasn't planning on going to prom, but i would like to try on dresses to see if i like any of them" immediately she had a disapproved look on her face and was in a way scolding me. She told me absolutely not we don't need you trying on dresses if you're not going to prom and took the dresses and walked away. after my friend and I found a couple of beautiful dresses i went into the dressing room with her to watch her try on the dresses. The same lady was in the back , the one who took the clothes from me, snapped at me again! She said something along the lines of "You cant be back here, don't help her zip on the dresses that's what we're here for, we dont need you ruining the dresses". I completely understand what she was saying but the way she snapped at me pushed me the wrong way so i kinda just left the fitting room and waited for my friend to get her dress. I went there twice and both times the employees have rushed me. They wouldn't let me take pictures the second time but the first time I was able to take pictures. They have expensive brands but a lot of the dresses had ripped seams or missing beading. The dresses were not flattering at all and the fabric felt very cheap. They told me "don't zip yourself up let us do it so you don't rip it" well a high end dress that's your asking price wouldn't rip if you zipped it up :) read more

I would not recommend this store to anyone. I have been to zcouture twice, and I bought one dress there. While the dress I bought was beautiful, the customer service was awful. The workers were rude and made me feel like I shouldn't be in the store. When I went the second time I was helping my friend find a dress. I am a bigger person and we were shopping for my friend who is much skinnier than I am. While I was browsing the racks of dresses for my friend, a worker came up to me and very rudely said "oh honey, these dresses are not your size". I found this extremely disrespectful and rude, the worker made me feel insecure. I definitely will not be buying another dress from them or recommending them to anyone. read more

I came into town from San Antonio specifically for Z-Couture and I couldn't be happier. First off, there's a broad selection of gorgeous prom dress designers, including the sought after Sherri Hill. Every staff member I encountered was the sweetest, they helped me zip and unzip, gave me compliments (a girl's favorite thing) and even took off a dress off the mannequin from a window for me which I ended up buying. Can I just say that hovering over people in the fitting room is soooo uncomfortable.. it just made the whole trying on dresses experience so awkward, that I did not enjoy the store at all. If people want your help they will ask for it or "check in every few minutes" but don't just stand there. People need to feel no pressure when trying on dresses especially pricey ones and they need privacy too. You just standing there isn't going to help.. Z Couture is the best! I purchased a dress for my 18 year old daughter for graduation next month. When we arrived at the boutique, we were immediately greeted by Kristen and Lori. They're an amazing team and we're extremely helpful. They have a wide variety of dresses for all occasions. The store is extremely clean and somewhat spacious. Lori and Kristen gave such a warm reception that I will be returning to buy two more dresses next month for another event!
