Probably one of the worst dress shops that I have been to. I walked in and started looking around and no one from the staff came to acknowledge me or ask if I needed help. After a while I looked around for a employee trying to figure out the layout of the shop. One of the girls asked if I had been helped and said she would get to me after she rang up a customer. 20 minutes pass... still nothing. I ended up picking two ball gowns. Which while I was looking a rude teenager and her mom just came right up next to me and started pushing gowns on the rack toward me while I was looking at a dress... I had to walk the dresses I chose to the dressing room by myself. The dressing rooms are tiny with no mirrors. You have to walk out and step in front of the whole store to look in the mirror. Anyways. Moral of the story. Terrible service. Weird dressing rooms. And over priced gowns. 99% of them were Sherri Hill and $300+. Seemed like you have to be a entitled rich person to get a staff member to acknowledge you. read more

Terrible service! The dresses are beautiful and they seem to have a pretty good selection but the ladies that work here obviously could care less about selling any product. I feel bad for the dress designers who have their dresses here. I took my daughter here for a specific dress which they didn't have, so we wanted to look at other dresses. Her and I basically had to take care of ourselves. They never tried to help us find a dress or offer any support. She found two dresses she liked but I refused to buy a dress there to support such bad service. We will be heading to a shop in New Braunfels and San Antonio. Don't shop here! read more

I came to Z Couture to purchase a Pink Pewter head band. I stood at the counter and was never asked if I could be helped. There were two ladies working and neither one even looked at me or acknowledged me with even a welcome. Customer service is so important especially at a place that caters to monumental moments in ones life like a wedding or prom. The service here is abysmal. I came into with my sister to look for a maid of honor dress. No one helped us and it was obvious no one was helping us look for a maid of honor dress because there were a handful of teenagers with mommy's credit card looking for prom dresses. Although they have Sherri Hill dresses, they did not have a huge variety or wide selections for those who are not a size 4. I also did not like the fact that they have no on‐site alterations. (Later to be told that they do, however when asked we were told they don't) The only thing that they help my daughter with is zipping up the back of her dress. Moms can't come with you in the dressing room because "there isn't enough room, we'll send her out". Out to the open floor where everyone could see what you're trying on. So if you're a little shy like my child be aware. We just like a little privacy. read more

We came in three times to look and try. Third time was a charm. Staff very helpful and immediately took dresses and placed in dressing room so we didn't have to carry around the store. I came here looking for a dress for prom and I came at a good time too -- they were having a Spring Break sale. I got a dress for 70% off of the retail price (and it's GORGEOUS!), but I didn't really care for the service here. The owner was a bit curt, especially when I asked if I could receive any sort of discount on the dress I wanted, due to multiple areas of fraying after multiple people trying it on, so that it could offset the price of a tailor I would need to fix it. I asked another saleswoman and she said the same thing, that the sale was already a good deal on the dress. I understand that they are a small business, and I am happy to support local stores, but having no leeway on the price was a little disheartening. read more

So rude! I came in here with a friend of mine looking for a prom dress and the customer service here is horrible! When we got there we were automatically greeted but then ignored almost immediately when 2 other women walked. They didn't bother asking us what we wanted or helped except when I grabbed a dress to hold they took it out of my hands. They also are very rude when asked about something being fixed on a dress, like beads falling off the dress. I understand I may not be wearing or look like your typical rich girl who frequently walks around the store, but that doesn't mean I can't afford anything! If I could give no stars, I would. I went into Z couture in late February because they had a prom dress on their website that I was in LOVE with. So I went there to try on dresses similar to it so I'd know what size to order. My mother and I got no help. My mom thought we were getting horrible service because we were black, but was like "naw, this is austin". So judging by the rest of the reviews, they are racist. They just have horrible fucking customer service. So went ahead and ordered the dress anyways and 4 weeks after I ordered it (this Monday), they told me it was back orderd until May 10th when prom is April 16th. My sister was excited to try on dresses for her upcoming pageant and we drove all the way in from a small town outside of Austin expecting them to be open. Walked in looking for a Quinceañera (15th debutant style Birthday) dress for my daughter with no expectations of finding it because we had been visiting bridal shops all along. Not only was she able to find a beautiful dress that was age and style appropriate, but to top it all off it was less then 1/2 our budget!! Also trying to take a picture to show the dress to family is apparently a no-no because we got yelled at for it. AND to hold the dress for ONE DAY is an extra $30. WTF. I had a wonderful experience shopping for a pageant at Z Couture! Our sales helper was attentive, helped us pull dresses, and helped my sister get ready (pulling zippers). I wish I could give this place negative stars. They are the worst dress place in Austin. The customer service is horrible. I tried a dress on for my prom that I thought I really liked but wanted to go to some other stores to see what else was around since this was the first shop I went to to try on dresses. They won't hold anything for you and they also don't do returns. I can understand returns but won't even hold it for a couple hours. So when I told them I would just look for it online later the girl pressured me into buying it saying that she was positive it was going to be sold out online. They pressure you lot into buying the dress and then you go to prom wishing you had looked more. Prom is supposed to be a fun time and they make it a very stressful and up pleasurable experience. They won't let you take pictures of yourself in the dress as you're trying it on either. They are literally the worst dress shop ever. I will never go here and I highly suggest no one else goes here. read more

I went into the store earlier today in search of a dress for my senior prom. My experience started bad the moment I walked through the door. One of the sales associates asked what I needed help with and I let her know that I was just looking at dresses today. She responded with an annoyed tone saying that she needed to know my size to tell me what section to look in. That didn't bother me much, it was one interaction and thought that maybe that it wasn't her normal customer service. She preceded to point me in the direction of my sizes due to the fact that I am kind of in between two different sizes. While browsing I wandered a little out of my size availability and she noticed and abruptly told me that those dresses are a size below me and not where I needed to be looking. After I picked out five dresses I went straight to the fitting room to begin trying on. There was another girl as well in the fitting room trying on prom dresses too. She informed me that she would have to zip them up for me which I understood. When trying on my second dress ( it was a little tight and I knew I wasn't going to purchase it but wanted to see how the style would look) she got the zipper up but when attempting to clasp it, it was getting tighter. Before I had the chance to let her know that she didn't need to clasp it, just the zipper was enough she let out an audible sigh and obvious frustration that the dress was too tight. She then tried to clasp the top piece, she barely pulled it together before dropping it and saying "yeah it's not going to clasp" and then quickly saying "it must just be a designer than runs small" while walking away. In normal circumstances that wouldn't bother me but for a sales associate to be noticeably upset that I couldn't fit in the dress added on to my disappointment as well I was less than encouraged . I tried on my last dress and it ended up being a success, I loved the way it fit, the color was great, and I started to become excited. My mother is unfortunately out of town for a funeral so I ended up going shopping with a close friend of mine. In my excitement I wanted to show my mother and asked my friend to take a picture of me in it. I had never been in the store before and wasn't informed on the policy of no photos. That changed quickly when the sales associate yelled from across the showing area "you can't take photos". Unaware my friend apologized and complied. The whole time during my experience the associate was being polite and courteous to the other customer and her mother showering in her compliments and being as helpful as possible. i don't need the compliments and wouldn't have been offended by it if that was the only wrongdoing I felt. keep in mind, my friend and i both are of obvious mediterranean decent while the other customer was white as well her mother and the sales associate. the difference in customer service seemed blatant and obvious there I felt neglected and as if my business was not valued. I quickly changed out of the dress and left the store baffled. i have worked in retail and know the challenges and difficulties of it however if I treated a customer like that and cost my employer business ,like she did, it would have resulted in my termination. I know many people who have purchased their dresses from the store and have heard praises from the customer base but after shopping there myself I'm not sure how that can be true with the customer service I received. read more

My mom and I came in to look for a dress I could wear as a guest to a gala. We were immediately greeted with a warm welcome by Lori and she steered us in the right direction on sizes. She was very honest and super helpful as I tried on around ten beautiful gowns. Lori was an expert in designers and fit. The selection was great and I found the perfect dress. Lori then gave us a recommendation on an alteration shop and her suggestion on what needed to be done. We became a victim of a prom dress website and came to Z Couture in a panic. With prom being only a week away my daughter and I were thinking we would never find the perfect dress. Long story short...her dress came in completely different from the picture and was a fraudulent "designer prom website". The girls at Z Couture were extremely helpful in helping us find The Dress in a crunch. They work with an amazing seamstress and alterations were completed in just 3 short days for the perfect fit. They literally saved my daughters junior prom. The owner also took time to help me get my money back from the counterfeit dress we had ordered! Had a great experience with my daughter at Z Couture. We came in on sunday to look at prom dresses and we were back to back with other girls looking for dresses. The staff was very nice and helpful besides being crazy busy. I was very skeptical about coming in, some of the reviews i read had me second guessing. I want a good expierience for my daughters first important event. After searching online and seeing the selections they had at the store i chanced it. Told my daughter we will just walk out if need be. Well I'm so glad we came. The girls were very helpful, outlined the layout of the store for us and set up a dressing room. Didn't need to much help but for as busy as they were they came by and made sure we were good. After all was said and done my daughter was undecided. The young lady suggested for her to sleep on it and we could come back later. We came back the next day and it was just us in the store so she was able to take more time feeling her choices out. Again the ladys were a great help. We had no issues at all. Thanks Z Couture it was a great first experience for my daughter. You guys have an awsome selection of dresses. All doubt out the window. I bring all of my area pageant and special event wardrobe consults here to find their perfect gown! The owner and staff are always extremely helpful and accommodating. I want to insert a disclaimer here that I regularly go to formal wear shops due to my job, so after being a long time customer and reading two recent negative reviews about Z Couture, I felt the need to defend this amazing shop! I can only conclude that the unsatisfied reviewers either have no business etiquette or don't understand how businesses have to protect their investments. Last time I was in Z Couture was two weekends ago, and it was pretty busy, but that's to be expected during prom season, and in no way is that the store's fault, nor should it be seen as negative in anyone's review! I'm glad to see a locally owned shop doing so well and staying busy! I felt that they handled the crowds VERY well and did everything they could to get girls in the prom dresses they wanted. As for the no photography policy...well, again I'm not sure why another reviewer seemed so offended by it. It's their shop, their garments, and their rules, so etiquette teaches us to be respectful of that. I'll admit that I broke the rule when I was in there two weeks ago, and the sales associate apologized then politely informed me that no photos were allowed, but that my client could FaceTime her mom so she could see the gown. It's was a completely polite interaction and they even offered a fair compromise! She purchased her pageant gown that day and asked me to go back with her to pick out her prom dress! On another occasion, they didn't have a gown in store in my client's size that she really wanted, so they called the dress company and ordered it for her! My client was thrilled!! I've had nothing but pleasant experiences in Z Couture for both myself and my clients! I'll continue to visit this shop and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a formal event dress! read more
