I meant to keep this short, but Ozzy Osbourne just passed away, and I came into your shop hoping for a little distraction--what I got was quite the opposite. So, story time. Should've gone for another tattoo instead. But I digress. This was my third and final visit. Each time I've come in, it's been clear I'm not welcome--neither I nor my money, apparently. My first visit was after dinner at Santa Rita, my usual post-work go-to. I'd been curious about your boutique--since you can't see into the store from the street--and I'm not one to judge a book by its cover (a little something I suggest we all try). I was completely ignored by the cashier, but I brushed it off. The second time, I brought a friend. While your clothing isn't quite my style, I'd noticed a few charming pieces and thought she might enjoy them. Someone did come outside to greet us and mention more items inside, which was a refreshing change. My friend even returned on her own later and had a good experience. Today, I stopped in again--not for myself, but because I have a sparkly, pink-loving, Kendra Scott-type friend with a birthday coming up, and your store felt like the perfect match. Once again, I came in after work and was met with a flat, unbothered "hi..." from the girl in the green dress, who immediately turned back to her conversation with the woman behind the counter. I browsed quietly, giving the benefit of the doubt--again--while they carried on, clearly uninterested. Another woman walked in and was promptly helped--likely because she matched the aesthetic. I, in contrast, was overlooked entirely. When I walked out, the same girl, parked in front of the counter like an immobile house pet with selective vision, actively avoided eye contact and said nothing. No goodbye, no thanks, not even a glance. Message received. Maybe it was the tattoos. Maybe the black clothing. Maybe just the assumption that I wouldn't be spending anything. Wild, considering I had every reason to judge her in that pretend "old money" dress--but didn't, and that's beside the point. You've lost a customer, and the referrals I was more than happy to send your way (most of which do actually fit your aesthetic). Still, I genuinely hope the shop survives--though with a hidden location, zero visibility from the street, and an overwhelming number of sale tags (which tracks--$50 for matches?), I wouldn't bet on it. You can defend your staff's "intentions" all day, but in the real world, actions are what matter. Do better, babes. I immediately came to Yelp after visiting this store an hour ago to see if it was only me that felt the stand off ish customer service vibe. They do have some cute burnt orange clothes, game day accessories, etc. But totally agree with the entitled staff vibe. Most bizarre check out experience I've ever had too... The store shares so many wonderful choices for a wardrobe choice, a home decore or many other choices. If it's a gift, the gift wrapping is unique and pleasant to the eye. Adelante is a unique boutique, a gem for Austin. Are you tired of the clothes at the mall? Try Adelante. They have a limited selection for sure, but the clothes are carefully selected and really beautiful. I'm hard to fit and I normally find something that I want to buy there. Their jewelry is unique, I often find jewelry I want to buy there also, which doesn't happen at other stores. The only catch is that they won't refund if you change your mind, ask about returns if you are not sure. They WILL normally exchange, however. Check them out! read more

The clothes are great. At least my girlfriend thinks so! Prices are ~$100 Not much for me to buy here as I'm a guy. All I can really comment on is the service we received while shopping. In summary, not great service at all. I of course carry all of the clothes my girlfriend picks out and in a normal store once the employees notice I'm carrying 7 different shirts they start a fitting room for us so I dont have to carry them. Especially since they write your name on the doors here and dont leave the pens out. Long story short, they didn't take the clothes from me, bummer. But hey! I'm not above carrying the clothes and starting my own fitting room so I did. Later, once my girlfriend started trying on the clothes, looking for an outfit for our New York trip. We found a dress with a great cut, but the color was too close to her skin tone and we really needed some of the employees to help locate a dress with a similar cut, if they had it. However, there was no help from the people working. In fact, the entire time we were here the two of them were chatting, eating, and playing on their phones. There is a good reason why this neat boutique is one of the top three on the list when I googled shopping in Austin. The owner curates a great, diverse collection of clothing and home goods with a good varied range in pricing. She has a great eye, and she and her team are friendly, hospitable and very helpful. Adelante has a fair selection of on-trend clothing, lounge wear, home decor and jewelry. Unfortunately, I've stepped in a few times now and have to agree with other reviewers that the customer service leaves much to be desired. The first time I came in dressed very casually and was essentially ignored. The second time, hair freshly coiffed and makeup in place, someone asked to start a dressing room for me but never checked back ... even though I was the only customer in the store and wandering around looking for a different size. I'm on the fence between two and three stars for this place. On one hand, they have a lot of nice clothes and decent sales several times a year. On the other hand, there are the silly prices and the occasionally rude, usually unwelcoming staff. I went here a few weeks ago and asked if they had any short-cut jeans (I'm stubby). The woman who was working the fitting rooms rushed by me and said, "Yeah, we do but they cost $158," then didn't bother to offer to get them for me or even show me where they were. Tacky! When you work retail, you get whatever a customer wants and let them sort out their pricing issues without your input or ideas about how much he or she is willing to spend. You never assume that something is too cheap or too expensive for someone. Has Pretty Woman taught us nothing?! Other than that, they have lots of interesting clothes and some great foundation garments. read more

Well, it's official. Adelante has taken over as my Fav Boutique in Austin title, for now at least! I must be losing it or am in hoarding-mode for all-things-summery. Hence my post on Adelante. I have been in and out of here over the years and always finding some really cute stuff, whether it's shoes, candles or obviously cute clothes. The staff is friendly and helpful and the place has tripled in size over the last 5 years. They did a great job on decorating the place, BTW. I didn't experience what the other reviewer stated about the "regulars" but then again, perhaps I'm one of those people! eeks. Either way, rush on in! This place is a hit or a miss type of store but usually a hit!!! Every once in a while you can't find anything to buy except for jewelry or a candle, but when they have stuff in there you can buy they're pieces you keep in your closet for ever. Example a: I have three dresses I bought from them in college four years ago and are still in my closet. Most of my college clothes I got rid of, except for these pieces! Their price points are super affordable for a local boutique. The location is great too because no dealing with domain parking issues or going to the mall (who goes to the mall anymore)?? A++ on the service. I had bought a dress from them last week for a wedding this weekend and when I Tried it on I realized I had brought home the wrong size!! I panicked and and called them with 30 mins to change before the wedding, they let me Exchange it for the larger size (I still had the tags on)! I ended up dressing there for the wedding! I was in desperate need of a new dress for an upcoming wedding so I decided to give this place a try. I walked in and immediately felt overwhelmed by the super snobby attitude. No one greeted me as I walked in and I was not offered help or even acknowledged during my entire experience. The salespeople just continued to chat with each other the whole time. An employee must have had their kids there because while I was in the dressing room two kids were playing a game in the rest of the stalls and seemed familiar with the store. Normally I wouldn't have minded this, but they kept peeking into the dressing room where I was (there was just a curtain so there's a gap you can't completely close), and no one stopped them! I felt very uncomfortable. I was thinking about buying one item but I was so unhappy with the experience and so uncomfortable feeling like no one wanted me in the store that I walked out of the dressing room and out of the store. I definitely will not return. The dress search continues. Also, the return policy is within 14 days for store credit only (which expires after 1 year). Outrageous. read more

I have loved this store and spent several thousand dollars here. So to have them not take back a $19 pair of sunglasses 3 days after I purchased them just feels wrong. I understand that is their 'policy', but it's a small local boutique. Besides, I walked in asking to try on $200 boots and return the glasses. They actually thought I'd still consider the boots. Well not only would I not, but I won't be going back. I left the glasses and told them to throw them out if that is what they thought they were worth and left my phone number in case the owner wanted to talk it over. No call, no refund. This is just bad business. A small local store should be better than a stupid department store. From now on I'll go to Nordstrom or one of the better boutiques. read more

I love Adelante! I most recently bought 3 new tops and they are all wonderful! Each is exceptionally pretty and my wardrobe has 3 pieces that are going to be well worn. Too often, I have bought clothes for a deal, and then I don't wear them much or they are not the kind of pieces that I get compliments on. At Adelante, I find great pieces that I don't see in the department stores. This store is easy to get in and out of. I really like not having to walk into a big department store and hunt. Who has time for that! I love the customer service and the gift wrap. I bought a friend a pair of earrings for a birthday gift and the associate wrapped it for me with a super cute flower on top of the package. The two ladies helping me were great.! One helped me by selecting a couple pieces, I would not have tried on otherwise. It's one of my favorite new tops now! Both were attentive, very nice to work with, but also let me look around on my own. Their jewelry is wonderful and they have items in both low and higher price ranges. You can always find a reasonably priced gift item or a fun new pair of earrings for yourself. Sales are especially great and I love a sale!!! I also bought a beautiful more expensive necklace last year and it's the kind of peace I will be able to wear the rest of my life. This is my favorite place to buy clothing and accessories in Austin! My college daughter and I popped in yesterday afternoon as we couldn't bear the mall or Domain but she HAD to have an interview outfit asap. The owner greeted us like family even though my girl had spent all day in lifeguard training and was in sweats and had ugh wet hair. The staff went out of their way to help with different clothing options and sizes, and even offered to hold a few items that were maybes. We found multiple beautiful, stylish outfits that were both classy and 'chic' enough for a college kid. LOVE this local business and will continue to be a lifelong customer! read more

Won't be back. Interesting options at different price points but I literally can't get over the snobby attitudes of the retail staff. Towards customers, towards me, and also towards their own employees. I watched an interaction recently where 2 catty girls started laughing at another blonde employee when she left for an errand. Clearly one can tell when someone is being laughed AT vs laughing "with". Regardless, I never get offered help and any question I've ever asked was an inconvenience to their paid jobs. I've also never been told goodbye or thanks for coming. If you want to be considered a high end boutique (or even moderate) you appreciate the customers for making the decision for the opportunity to purchase from your store. In Austin there are way too many other choices to shop. So if the customer isn't the most important thing in the store, Adelante must be raking in the dough not to care enough, or at least hire friendly, competent retail salespeople. read more

There is nothing more disgusting than when workers don't acknowledge you based off what you are wearing, as if that is a good resemblance of if I am going to buy something or not. They walked by over 3 times and did not say anything but spoke to other customers who were dressed nicer. They only spoke to me when I was purchasing my item. I am not sure how this place is still in business. They have some cute clothes but that's about it. I went in yesterday at 5:20 unaware that they closed at 5:30 on weekdays. I was in the dressing room trying on clothes and trying to make a decision. The sales girl came and told me they were trying to wrap things up. It was 5:40 at this point. So I asked what time they closed and she said 5:30. So I got dressed and while leaving she asked "Did you not find anything you liked?". I could tell she was real concerned so I told her I did but since they were closing I was leaving. Her reply while unlocking the door to let me out and wiping crumbs from the corner of her mouth- I guess she'd been snacking while waiting for me to leave was "Sorry but we've got places to be". I also think it's pretty awful they don't honor gift cards over a year old. It seems like whoever owns this store just owns it as a hobby and doesn't really care about making sales. The store has a great location because you can go to Teo and get your pumpkin spice latte and then walk over, but I can do without the snotty salespeople. I have been here numerous times and have never been welcomed or offered help. I have purchased a really adorable dress here that was on deep discount and they do have some cute inexpensive shoes, but I can't get past the staff. I was there this past weekend and even though I was the one trying on the clothes, the staff sure chatted up my husband who was in the "man section" on his iphone. They had such cute stuff but I never got to come inside. I knew that this boutique was for me as I saw a lot of clothes that I has seen at Nordstrom. So walked up and it was a few minutes after closing. There were still some customers inside that were browsing so I thought that maybe they were open later than stated on the door. As a customer was leaving, I made my way for the door and it was shut and locked in my face by a sales associate. As she walked to the sales counter she laughed and she told the cashier and they both looked at the door and me standing at it and laughed. I was shocked! When I spoke to the owner about the situation, she gave me the most insincere apology I've ever heard. The sales girl denied to the owner ever having shut and locked the door in my face. In love with Adelante Boutique! I live out of town and every time I come to Austin I make it a point to stop in. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and even when I stop in just to browse I always walk out with a cute dress or a new pair of earrings. On this trip I was on a mission to find some cute dresses for my upcoming wedding. With so many different lunches, dinners, etc. I thought I could at least find one or two dresses here. I was thrilled when I walked out with 4 dresses, earrings, a bracelet and a cute hat to wear on my honeymoon. With all the stress of planning a wedding it was a breath of fresh air to walk into Adelante and find a staff so willing to help and coordinate all my outfits with accessories. In addition, I was able to find a cute and inexpensive ($40) dress for my honeymoon and in the same shop a more sophisticated dress that I could wear to my bridesmaids luncheon. If only I could convince the owner to open an Adelante in my hometown I would be set for life. I will continue to visit every chance I get and would recommend to anyone looking for cute clothing, shoes and accessories. This is the cutest little store, something you would see on Melrose. I loved this place from the moment I walked in! The shoes are great and at good prices. There are some very pricey items and then a great sale rack. Super cool jewelry, too. Now for my realistic analysis: this store has regulars and they are catered to, and I mean really catered to by the staff. And from the looks of it, they are not looking to get any new regulars anytime soon. I heard one of the girls tell another customer trying on a really cute dress, "When was the last time you were a 0?" Huh? One girl was nice, didn't offer to get me room, despite it was obvious that I wanted to try on a great deal of things. (Maybe her previous job was at Anthropologie?) So I helped myself to a room and got going. Couldn't resist buying a few things. They had these nice stretchy tanks in almost every color. Next day I called asking if they could hold one for me that I should've bought. Ditzy girl on phone tells me, "We don't have that color". Hello??? I tried it on less that 24 hours ago! I make a special trip and there it is, big as life, waiting for me. When I asked if they were getting more of these, which are basics and everyone who buys one will want ten more, Ditzy girl tells me that they NEVER restock an item once they sell out. Ok, maybe this place doesn't, but are they foolish. They would never have to sell anything else if they kept these in stock. I'll never have regular status here, but I'll be back. This boutique has a lot of potential yet the staff will be a great hinderance to that if they are not properly trained on customer service and creating an experience for clientele. I have been a few times and have had decent experiences and bought a few nice items. Today I walked in and two girls were standing behind the front desk (one was actually sitting on the ground) behind the desk and the girl that saw me greeted me my raising her eyebrows at me and continuing on in the conversation with the other associate sitting on the floor. I walked around the store and when I was leaving the girl behind the counter was now cutting her split ends and neither one acknowledged my departure. That's my last time in that store. I highly advise you stress customer service to your employees and remind them this space is very competitive and people talk.
