Typically, for a custom suit, you would need to make an appointment in advance. We lucked out by coming in on a less booked day and were given the all-star treatment nonetheless (but I do recommend making an appointment!). My now-husband wanted a unique suit and was really drawn to the tweed prohibition-era style. I looked on Yelp and Bykowski was one of the top options for custom men's suits and when I looked at the photos I knew we had to go! Wendy was great with giving advice and helping us figure out what he wanted. We had such a fun time in the store and loved the decor! He had a 45 min- hour consult trying things on and looking at different fabrics. We picked out the shirt, 3 piece suit and tie. Chris came in after the decision of the fabrics and took notes on all the details he wanted, measurements and took pics of how the suit looked on him. The suit looked great! I went in not really knowing what I wanted or how to order a suit and they were able to walk me through selecting the fabric and every part of my customer suit! When I went back for the fittings they spend so much time making sure everything worked perfectly. At one point we had to completely rebuild the vest I had ordered and they handled it like it was no big deal! I know the price seems relatively expensive but I comparison shopped and the price point at Dandy's is actually pretty good. First off, wow. This store is incredible! Chris and Wendy really nailed it in customer service! They are both so friendly and eager to please, just don't mess with their pig!!! Seriously, they have a funny little pig that runs around the store and hates the paparazzi so no photography is allowed in the store, however, I managed a snap of myself in the mustache mirror. They have some of the nicest clothes I've ever worn. I bought a beautiful shirt and vest and Wendy helped me pick out the perfect bow tie for my wedding. I'm goin back to get some of their shoes ASAP. As I was tryin on the vest Wendy's hubs Chris came out and looked over the vest to tell me about the alterations it would need to fit well. Let's talk for a sec.. I'm sure you're looking through the other reviews and finding a few negatives points being made from poor service, too hard to find, ect ect.... This is about as fresh of a review as you can find. Wendy, (who is an absolute sweetheart) is very welcoming to ideas on outfits, places to find fabrics, about when she will call YOU about your custom order and so on. She is there for you every step of the way. She will tell you if she thinks an idea you have MIGHT not go so well with what you may be working with ( which is fine because that IS her job). Btw, she called me every time she said she would. My suit was better than advertised. I have never had a suit custom made and probably will never go back to regular department stores for that matter. I was introduced to Bykowski's (formerly Dandy's) by a pedi-cab driver during my visit to SXSW 2-years ago. He was complimenting my attire and asked did I know about Dandy's. After making a mental note, I thought the likelihood of checking out the store was slim given everything else going on at that time. Through happenstance I walked by Dandy's during my last day at SXSW and the rest as they say is history. The store was striking and appealed to my sweet spot. With a splash of Bourbon in tow, I was in search of something unique and was given the space to do so. Upon making my selections (a nice chocolate corduroy vest & leather sling pouch *mint), I knew I would be back. When I returned this year, I took it up a level and had Bykowski's tailor me a custom jacket. Chris is quite the artisan and the details are in the right place. He's a true artisan. When I received my order and tried it on, it was perfection to the point where I wanted another one just like it. How often does that happen? I'll start this review with my conclusion: Dandy's is the only place I will buy a suit from ever again. With full confidence, I highly recommend them to anyone. So far, they have made me 2 beautiful custom made suits that I wear several days a week. What sets Dandy's apart is their attention to detail. Besides the ridiculously perfect custom fit, their process allows me to customize the garments the way I truly want, making each of my suits one of a kind. The inside of my dark grey suits have this stunning red lining that peeks out when the wind blows. The buttonholes on the sleeves are functional and allow the discerning eye to notice and appreciate such fine details. Combined with peak lapels, these details offer a subtle elegance that is impossible to match anywhere else. But Dandy's goes further even still. Their suits have a hidden interior money pocket for when you travel. They can add suspender buttons so you can wear suspenders with their vests. The second you walk into their store, you travel back in time to a true gentleman's haberdashery. One wall is covered in a variety of beautiful hats, the other, ties, pocket watches, knives and grooming products. As you peruse their custom fabric selection, you are offered a strong drink of your choice from a fine and unparalleled selection of alcohol. But Dandy's isn't just about the beauty of old world charm, the suits they graciously made for me are very modern and very practical. They are lightweight, perfectly fitting, and offered fully canvassed (a huge quality premium offered at a great value here). The owner's that run the store are helpful, responsive and definitely have the client's best interest in mind. We're really pleased with how the suit turned out and know that it will be worn for years to come. One thing to keep in mind, is that a custom suit (any custom clothhing for that matter) takes time to make. Don't expect to get a suit for an event that's 3 weeks away. We started the process 3 months ago and got the suit a week before the big day. If you want the perfect look and fit, it will take a couple of fittings/alterations to make it happen. I was about to cross the street yesterday and noticed a sign that intrigued my wife and I. So, we decided to go take a look. WOW. As soon as you enter Dandy's you know you've walked into a special place. You feel like you've gone back in time 100 years. They offer lots of gentleman's clothing, footwear, neckwear and a large collection of shaving stuff. REAL shaving stuff; not the glow-in-the-dark gel or electric razors. I wish I had more time to look around, but I'll be back! I ended up buying some razor blades (which I tried last night; great shave!) and had a great conversation with the lady at the cash register. Moved into the neighborhood and loved the window display so went inside. The lady behind the counter greeted me... but she was too busy talking to people to assist in an actual sale. I did interject at one point that I decided to buy a pocket watch but she continued her conversation with a couple. As they were leaving another person came in and even though I was standing at the counter she ignored me and helped him with his concern that the store must not have his correct email... as she was helping him with the email issue another person entered and she asked the email guy if he minded if she assisted the new person as he was just there to pick up an item.. Nothing was asked or spoken to me.. YET I WAS RIGHT AT THE COUNTER. So 2 people went ahead of me. I departed as she continued with the email correction. I've casually shopped at Dandy's before, each time casually considering getting a suit custom made for my weird, gangly body. When it came time to consider clothing options for my sister's wedding, I finally decided to take the plunge. With my impeccable timing (turns out lots of people like having weddings in the fall) I had to get a rush order, but Chris & Wendy made sure my garments were fitted and in tip top shape in time for my event. The entire process was really fun actually - once we got the budget locked down (which we came well under), I got to customize pretty much everything. Initially it was actually a little daunting, but both Chris and Wendy walked me through the process with patience and bourbon, and helped with some suggestions we both got excited about. Not only did I look classy as hell at my sister's wedding, now I have a super versatile 3-piece suit that actually *fits* me, which as a super lanky man is a miracle in and of itself. It looks incredibly stylish, and most importantly, it's comfortable. This is a garment I really want to wear. There's something to be said about taking the money you would have spent on two "eh" jackets off the rack you bought-last minute and spending it on a piece made for you from Dandy's. This place is so unique. And I'm not just saying that, I really researched to see if I could find a similar place in other cities like even New York, and really couldn't. I really like the vibe here. This is one of the coolest Tailor / Bespoke / Clothing stores you've ever seen. First of all, I normally don't even leave reviews for much other than restaurants.
