I got a dress hemmed here for a wedding and had an incredible experience! It was such an easy process! I just walked in, put my dress on, she measured the length, and in two weeks it was perfect! She does say for length alterations to have at least 10 days before the event but can work with you if needed. She was easy to contact and gave great feedback. I was considering taking in the dress at the waist a little and she had so much seamstress knowledge about how that would make the rest of the dress look and the stitching style which was so impressive! Lidia is great! She offers helpful advice on alterations, and her prices are reasonable. The location is easy to get to (right between Mopac & I-35), and there is a small parking lot in the back. Originally, I went there to have my bridesmaid dressed altered. The process was so smooth and easy that my husband then wanted to bring in his suits to be altered as well. Over the last couple of months, we have probably seen Lidia every other week (my husband keeps finding new things to bring in), and she has been friendly and professional every time. NOTE: There is place in South Austin with a VERY similar name (Lidia's Alterations and Tailoring). I've come to Lydia twice now. The first time was just a simple dress hem that she completed on time for a wedding I was going to. Lidia went above and beyond to alter my wedding dress for me, and it fits perfectly! When I first contacted her she took care to note my wedding date, and rightfully insisted I bring the underwear and shoes I would be wearing day-of so the hemline would be perfect. When I met with her she talked me through what would need to be altered (mostly hem, bustle, and straps) and did the fitting kindly, comfortably and efficiently. My dress is sheer in a lot of places, and Lidia proactively asked me if I wanted her to fix the built-in bra to be more secure. She let me try her solution before committing, and it worked so well! This saved me a lot of headache trying to figure out what to do instead. Lidia had me come in a second time to make sure the hem, bra, and straps were perfect before she sewed everything in place. Everything was perfect, but it was great to have that peace of mind. I recently picked up my wedding dress, and it is beautiful! I couldn't be more happy with the result (especially being able to walk with the hem the right length!). Lidia took the time to teach me how to bustle the train (and had made sure to reinforce it!), and had even steamed it for me! For timing, Lidia recommends 90 days, though with the alterations needed for my dress the whole process only took 7 weeks! I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed, and lidia and her staff did an amazing job with it. Great customer service and the dress was ready when expected. I would recommend her to anyone who needed alterations. I was there when another customer came to pick up her jumpsuit and lidia said she couldn't make the requested adjustment because it would ruin the piece after inspection. Since lidia couldn't work on it, she told the customer it was no charge. The customer still insisted on paying instead of leaving with the piece and lidia's apology that she couldn't do more. Lidia created some guinea pig bedding for me. She did a total of 4 layers on each bedding-2 flannel and 2 uhaul padding. The bedding turned out AMAZING!! Even though it was a custom piece, she did a perfect job. She even placed some stitching in the middle to help keep all the layers flat after washing the bedding. I had purchased it off a clearance rack so it was a size too large and I had a number of different requests -- removing several of the underlayers to make it less poofy and more flowy, sewing on a silver belt, adding a bustle to hold up the train when dancing, etc. Lidia made it fit like a glove, had great suggestions along the way, and was always pleasant and on time with her work. read more

I haven't used a tailor in Austin since 2014 so when I searched Yelp I found this business. Her location was close by and all the reviews I had read were great too. I took three items for alterations and a little less than two weeks later, my items were ready for pick up! They fit perfectly. She shortened the legs on all three, added a fastener to a low cut jumpsuit and also took the waist in on a pair of pants that were slightly to big.
