I so wanted to like this place! I love real wool sweaters and have lots of them. In the past, I've found wonderful tailors who did invisible reweaving of my sweaters in Los Angeles and in Riverside, CA. After I moved to Austin, I was told Gassane was the place to go for invisible reweaving. Not so much. Please see the accompanying photo. The repair is obvious. There are visible stitches. The grain of the weave has been disrupted. And the fabric has been pulled out of shape; it doesn't lie flat anymore. Gassane Tailors were like family to us while we lived in Austin. I'm little, so almost everything I wear needs to be tailored. Their work was so intricate and beautiful. My daughter remembers coming along with me when she was little and being mesmerized by all of the beautiful clothing. I had found suggestions to come here because of Reddit, and I can surely see why so many people love Gassane Tailors. The service was super quick and decently priced! I called in to get my romper (pictured) taken in at the waist on a Saturday and was in a rush since I had a grad photo session on Monday afternoon. Joseph told me to stop by and was very quick (yet thorough) with the fitting, as other people rushed in before they closed. He had it ready by Monday morning, the next business day (as they're closed on Sundays). Also, if you end up having to wait on people to get out of the changing rooms, the walls have photos with celebrities and newspaper clippings that kept me pretty occupied, haha. I moved back to Austin 4 years ago and I could not find a quality tailor for my expensive clothes until a friend recommended Gassane and I cannot say enough about this mom and pop shop. This was without a doubt the BEST customer service I have ever experienced anywhere in my life. All the employees made me feel like family. Everyone was extremely nice and friendly. I had an Indian sherwani that arrived from India at the last minute that I was needing to wear in a wedding, but it was extremely tight and I could not even button it. The armholes were also very tight. I went to an Indian tailor who told me it could not be fixed, as there was not enough material. After seeing Gassane Tailors was down the street from my house, I decided to get a second opinion. They immediately told me they could fix it no problem at all. They took my measurements and assured me it would be ready in time. They were extremely confident and were able to get it back to me after a week and a half just in time for the wedding. The price was fair considering the rush and amount of work needing done. It fits perfectly. So, I ordered my dream wedding dress. It was coming from Ukraine, it had ALL the bells and whistles - and it was made TO MY EXACT measurements, so no worries about it being too long/short for my special day. When it arrives, I pull it out of the box to a POOF of glitter - which is surprising, because the dress isn't supposed to be sparkly? Also, at my 5'3" frame, the dress seems more suited to someone a foot taller than me. At this point, I'm devastated - BUT Past Misha had done me a solid. Back in July, I ordered a GORGEOUS off the rack wedding dress that was definitely too big and way too long. VERY NERVOUSLY, 3 weeks before the wedding, I start reaching out to places on YELP. Gassane Tailors gets back to me RIGHT away, we set a time to meet, they take my measurements, and tell me 2.5 weeks should be NO PROBLEM. They were so kind, so professional, and so knowledgeable that I almost didn't believe things could have worked out so well. The store, located VERY conveniently close to me on Anderson Lane, is adorable. Really cute old school dressing rooms, frames of ALL of their tailoring articles, and a lot of pictures of famous people who use Gassane (including SEVERAL former presidents!) When I tried the dress on - it was perfect. They took this poofy, giant shouldered, super long dress and made it fit me like a GLOVE. It was hard to not cry during the fitting.
