Double Chili Cheeseburger
Jose C.

I was first introduced to Tommy's when I moved to California back in 2005. I left California in 2015 and usually try to got back once or twice a year but I always neglect to stop at a Tommy's. Not on this trip. To be honest, Chicago has better food, but every now and then you do crave a nice chili cheese burger. Something Chicago is definitely lacking. I came here for just that. I'm glad to see the flavor and quality is still there. The burger tastes just how I remember it. The prices have definitely gone up, but still worth it for this amazing burger. Their chili cheese dogs and chili cheese fries are good as well but I only had a burger this time. Service was great and the restaurant was clean as well. Would definitely recommend this place.

My Tommy's burger. I had my own bag of chips in the car.

Tommys......I would go when burgers were $1.25. The meat was hot off the grill with that thick chili. Now it's substandard with fries a soda fountain...back in the day it was the burger a bag of chips & a can soda, delicious! The original on Beverly now serve soft ice cream cones, tamales, hot dogs.....get outta' here w/that. The workers are not friendly and the ambiance remains, grab your food, eat outside on one of the wooden counters or in your car:

Los Angeles institution. Always a great experience. Food made well and fast. I personally don't think it's the tastiest chili but I'm never not getting one when I visit Los Angeles. Open until 2a helps too as I was staying in the area and hungry after walking back from Hollywood Bowl after a concert.

I was traveling on the Hollywood freeway when huger hit me like a ton of bricks. As I exited the freeway at Sunset Blvd, Tommy's was the first place I noticed It is 845 and I am not in the mood to have a burger for breakfast but my hunger is greater than common sense at this point so I entered the drive-thru. I noticed a breakfast sandwich and burrito on the menu so I ordered the breakfast sandwich. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised as I ate my sandwich. Though I requested no pickles, a English muffin and no mayo, somehow the lady who took my order somehow understood me to say extra pickles, burger bun and add extra mayo. Oh well! Despite this miscommunication, service was good and the employee was very friendly I am sure my stomach will be a bit bubbly later this morning but it's all good

Pickles, that were asked not to be in there.

My friend went to pick me up a double chili cheese burger and read it to the cashier from the text the said NO FUCKEN PICKLES!!! First bite, a big fat pickle!!! What if I had been allergic? Now I'm at home with no dinner, thanks!! You need to pay attention better.

Almost vegetarian

WHERE'S THE BEEF!!!!, you ask? Oh, it's buried somewhere under a mountainous pile of lettuce at Tommy's Famous Burgers--because who needs protein when you've got greens, right? This place was an absolute delight--if by "delight" you mean a sad, lettuce-drenched tragedy. If you're in the mood for a salad that just pretends to be a burger, congratulations, you've found your culinary nirvana. Honestly, I can't even fathom how this place got its "famous" status, unless it's for breaking records in burger patty paper-thinness. The patty was so thin, I half-expected to see through it. I'm talking ghost patty thin. The cheese? Oh, bless its heart--it was thicker than the actual meat. And that tomato? Somehow it became the most substantial thing in the burger. Who knew a humble tomato would outshine a burger in its own burger? But the true star of the show was the lettuce, obviously. At some point, I had to double-check if I was in a salad bar or a burger joint. The lettuce seemed to have staged a coup and was trying to overthrow every other ingredient in the sandwich, suffocating everything with its leafy dominance. As for the flavor? Lettuce, with a hint of tomato. It was like chewing on a garden, with only a whiff of meat trying to remind you of its existence. But hey, let's give credit where credit's due: the fries were actually fantastic, like they were the only thing keeping the whole operation from falling apart. And speaking of speed, the service was so fast it was like they knew their "burger" couldn't stay together for more than a couple of seconds. They probably just threw it together in a rush--who can blame them? That patty was practically air. And at $34 for two burgers and fries, I think I just paid the world's most expensive lettuce sandwich. Never again, Tommy. Next time I crave a "burger," I'll make sure it's not a leafy disappointment with a side of regret.

#1, fries w/added chili.

I came by after I did my metabolic panel at the lab to come see my favorite people at Tommy's Original in Hollywood. I haven't seen them in a long minute since I went LCHF. It was perfect timing as they had their double cheese promo going. I ordered two doubles without the bun. I had to pass on the fries but I wanted them so badly. Lol.

I have been to…read moreplenty of In-N-Out spots and for some reason this one just tastes better every single time, even though technically it is the same menu. The burgers here are always so fresh, hot, and satisfying. One thing people should know is that there are off-menu customizations, and that is the best way to order if you already know what you like. I never do the regular double because it is just not enough for me. I usually order two 3x3 burgers. One I get with no onion, and the second I do even simpler with no onion, no lettuce, and no tomato, so it is basically just the bun, cheese, and three patties. I always ask for extra spread too because that is a must. Usually I get two spreads per burger and one extra for the fries, so my full meal comes with five spreads and I use every single one. What also makes this location stand out is how well they handle the crowds. It is always busy, but they have so many employees working that the line keeps moving fast and the whole place stays organized. Even when it looks packed, service is efficient and seating usually works out fine if you just pay attention and grab a table as people leave. For such a high-volume location, they do a really good job keeping things moving. Love In-N-Out, always will, and this Hollywood location is the one I keep coming back to. Easy 5 stars.

It is on a busy street so finding parking is gonna be pretty hard but since it was late, not much was going on in the parking situation. Now I will say that there were quite a few people there since it seemed everyone was stopping by after a night out clubbing and what not nearby! We all had the same idea lol They had a nice bar top where the cashier was but we ordered at the self serve kiosk. They have beer and make various drinks at the bar. The interior was pretty lively. We got our food at the counter and ate at one of the many tables inside. Quick service and for good prices. I would recommend stopping by if you're around the area !

ITS SO BRIGHT AND HOT IN HERE…read more Like immediately. You walk in and it feels like you're being interrogated while trying to drink a Baja Blast with alcohol. I always end up here before a movie at the Chinese Theater or the Egyptian because let's be real -- this is probably the cheapest place to get drinks on Hollywood Blvd. They even have a happy hour, which is honestly the main reason to come. But here's the problem... this place is not designed to hang out in, even though that's clearly what they're going for. It's on Hollywood Blvd and they still take cash, which is both a good and bad thing. Good because it's accessible to everyone. Bad because you're gonna have people come in, buy the cheapest thing on the menu, and then set up camp in a booth for hours or disappear into the bathroom for a suspiciously long time. It just kinda kills the vibe. Staff is slammed all the time. The "bartender" is also the cashier, also the server... basically doing everything. No one has time for anything extra. Also -- the drink situation is inconsistent. Some of the slushy machines are always down or acting weird, so if you came for a specific drink... good luck. And it's painful watching them measure out the alcohol. Like I get it, management probably cracked down, but sometimes you straight up can't taste it. Especially in that big plastic swirly cup thing -- which is honestly a scam. Looks cool, not worth it. I've accidentally gotten it twice thinking "oh it's just the bigger size"... nope. It's for the gram or to take home, not to actually enjoy. Food is Taco Bell. You already know what it is. Still somehow better than the crack den across the street aka Mr. Tempo. I wouldn't even be surprised if some of their bad reviews are coming from over there because that place is trash. Apparently they have special Cantina-only items but I'm not even keeping up with that. End of the day -- this is a pre-movie, get your drink, and leave type of spot. Drink fast, brain freeze included, and get out... because this place definitely doesn't want you hanging around anyway.
