In-N-Out is always a classic, but the Hollywood location is hands down my favorite. I have been to…read moreplenty of In-N-Out spots and for some reason this one just tastes better every single time, even though technically it is the same menu. The burgers here are always so fresh, hot, and satisfying. One thing people should know is that there are off-menu customizations, and that is the best way to order if you already know what you like. I never do the regular double because it is just not enough for me. I usually order two 3x3 burgers. One I get with no onion, and the second I do even simpler with no onion, no lettuce, and no tomato, so it is basically just the bun, cheese, and three patties. I always ask for extra spread too because that is a must. Usually I get two spreads per burger and one extra for the fries, so my full meal comes with five spreads and I use every single one. What also makes this location stand out is how well they handle the crowds. It is always busy, but they have so many employees working that the line keeps moving fast and the whole place stays organized. Even when it looks packed, service is efficient and seating usually works out fine if you just pay attention and grab a table as people leave. For such a high-volume location, they do a really good job keeping things moving. Love In-N-Out, always will, and this Hollywood location is the one I keep coming back to. Easy 5 stars.

Since they opened-right across from Chick-fil-a on Highland/Sunset, I figured I should give this new Cane's a try. First visit was after 10p during the week in the rain we were getting; drive thru and lot was pretty packed but I was able to find a spot. Ordered at the kiosk and food was ready within 5 minutes. I kept it simple with fries, one sauce and one chicken. This was really good, and hit the spot, reminding me of the Cane's I used to enjoy when I'd go out of my way to Downey since there weren't any close by. I returned the next day for a box, and this was a repeat of a good experience. At this point, I've had more than a handful of visits and have to admit when it's good, it's really good, but when it's average, it's a disappointment. Hit or miss, I'm glad Cane's is close by, but I wish it was a hit 100% of the time. However, I'll keep on trying-

If I wasn't starving, I'd have tossed it. Customer service was ok; competent, but not warm. If you want bland fried chicken, chick-fil-a is across the street. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a fast food joint. Save you money, grab some toaster oven chicken fingers instead.

When I saw Angus over at bingo flappin' her gums about tryin' the strawberry dubia cup, I knew right then and there I had to see what all the fuss was about... and I sure as sugar went to the best spot to do it. I got myself the dubia strawberry cup and a beef shawarma. And baby -- that shawarma was finger-lickin' good, I mean the kind of good that makes you close your eyes and thank the Lord. The dubia strawberry cup? Delicious too, don't get me wrong. Now I know what you're thinkin' -- "Nina, then why in the world is this only four stars?" Well I'll tell you why, sweetheart. Because that little ol' dub strawberry cup costs TWENTY DOLLARS for about five strawberries and a prayer. That's robbery with a smile. The shawarma, though, was priced just fine at thirteen bucks -- I was full after five bites, and that don't happen by accident at my age. But twenty dollars for a handful of strawberries? I wasn't born yesterday, just before nonsense. Still, I marched right back into bingo loud and proud and told Angus I spent twenty dollars on dubia strawberries -- which means I clearly have more money than her, 'cause she probably found hers in the trash. So I reckon that's a win-win. All in all, it's a great place -- tasty as can be, just a bit overpriced. I'll definitely be back, but next time I'll be skip-pin' the dubia strawberry and keepin' my dignity (and my wallet) intact.

Service was good overall. I first tried placing a pickup order through their website, but after several failed attempts I ended up calling the order in instead. The food was ready in 30 minutes as promised. The chicken and beef lula kebabs were tasty, juicy, and well seasoned. Unfortunately, the beef and chicken breast shashlik kebabs were very dry and lacked flavor. Side dishes including the roasted peppers, grilled Roma tomatoes, hummus, garden salad, and rice were decent but nothing memorable. The 10 pitas were also a little dry. Overall, it's an average spot like many others around Los Angeles. Glad I tried it once, but that was enough for me. Not really a place I'd keep coming back to.

Cut to today: I desperately had to use the bathroom and I was really far away from my own home. I pulled into Astro burger at 9 AM. It looked empty clean and I was very hopeful they had a bathroom. They did! It was clean and available and it didn't even have a code to get in. I thought I really should buy something. They were so kind to let me use their bathroom. So I got an egg McMuffin and a fresh squeezed orange juice. It was $11. In Los Angeles to get a freshly cracked egg with freshly sautéed breakfast sausage on a nice toasty English muffin with a 12 ounce cup of legitimately, freshly squeezed orange juice for $11 is fricking extraordinary. It was delicious. It tasted like it was made by a grandma. I wish it had cheese, but that's on me, next time I'll get cheese. Also, the place is adorable, clean old-fashioned diner really just great all around. I will return to this Astro burger. Probably to get an Astro burger.
