If you go on a weekday, prepare to wait. BUT, don't do as we saw several people do - they found out the wait (on the morning we went) up to 45 minutes.....................and they left. I imagine they were going to drive another 20 minutes to another breakfast spot, and found out that place had a half hour wait. What do you expect on a weekday morning? Bring entertainment, chat up some of the people sitting on benches and enjoy your wait time. Because the wait to get into the Original Breakfast house is SO WORTH IT!! When they finally called our name, we were surprised to see several empty tables. Our server explained they (like so many other businesses) are short staffed, but trying to hire additional staff. Makes sense. The food was excellent, the service was speedy, and we were glad we waited. Next time we'll come on a weekday...................or maybe again on a weekend, sit and talk with the other people waiting read more

Original Breakfast House - French Toast - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

If you're looking for a breakfast that's a great value, and DELICIOUS, YOU'VE FOUND IT! My girlfriend and I live taking my daughters here. Prices are fair, portion sizes are solid, and the atmosphere is usually very welcoming. The breakfast burrito is a great choice, AND the biscuits and gravy. Promise, if you're a breakfast person, this place will pass all the tests. A couple of things to be aware of: 1. On the weekend, there WILL BE A WAIT. If you don't want to wait GET THERE EARLY. 2. Payment is CASH ONLY. So come prepared. Fear not, they have an ATM, I'm pretty sure. read more

Decided to check this place out based on Yelp reviews. It didn't disappoint! Love to check out places where locals love to eat. The line outside means the food is good. When we arrived we did have a 45 min wait. Once seated our waitress gave some great recommendations. I had the eggs Benedict with the seasoned beef and the homemade pop tart. My husband had the chicken and waffles. Everything was so good! The pop tart was very flaky and probably one of my fav parts of the meal. read more

Pretty great! Friendly, quick service. I can see this being a reliable, worth while place to visit or to be a regular at. The bill was a a little pricier than I anticipated but, nothing outrageous. Also, as a past Hawaiian resident, I love the menu and the way it's decorated! The spam and fried rice was delicious. I will be back! CASH ONLY! read more

The food lacked any flavor. Chorizo was just ground beef. The Sopes tasted as if grocery store bought and just heated. Chile del árbol Hollandaise sauce was just flavorless hollandaise with some drizzled on unknown chile sauce. The glass of water was the only thing up to par. The menu sounds and reads great, too bad the food doesn't meet descriptions. read more

Probably one of the best breakfast restaurants around in the Phoenix area. Servers are friendly and the place is always hopping. Probably the only complaint I have is it is ALWAYS busy and crowded, but that is just a testament to how good they are! read more

Went in for an early breakfast! The food was delicious and the portions were just right! My only complaint would be if you want steak and eggs, the ribeye steak is hidden in the sides on the menu. I will try that next time! read more

Highly recommend Original Breakfast House. The entire experience from start to finish was excellent. Lived music played while we waited. Once seated we were greeted quickly and our server Andrea made some popular and personal recommendations. She was spot on! The food was delicious. We each ordered a plate and shared one pancake to try. Servings were hearty and we had plenty to take home. While eating we got to chat with owner! So many happy smiley faces in that place! We found a new place to bring out of town visitors! read more

My mom and I came here yesterday and they were super busy. It was about a 30 minute wait which wasn't terrible for a Sunday. The service was very good. Friendly and prompt. Now for the food. I had the biscuits and gravy with their home fries and it was DELICIOUS. The biscuits were very soft and definitely homemade and the potatoes were also amazing. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I don't live too far away, I can't believe it took me this long. Definitely coming back! read more

Would I come back? If you chose to come here, you made a good decision. The food is good and the service is awesome. My friends and I came on a Sunday morning and we knew we were going to wait because of its high reviews and the fact that it was a weekend. We checked in and were told that it would be a 45-1 hour wait. The line moves pretty quickly and we were seated in 30 mins. They have their original menu and specials. We decided on the chicken fried steak with French toast and tiramisu pancakes. We each got an orange juice too which came with 1 free refill. The chicken fried steak was pretty good. The chicken retained some juices and was not completely dry. They cut up the chicken into smaller pieces compared to other places where they give you a big slab of chicken. The French toast edges were a little hard but it just gave the toast more texture. When the tiramisu pancakes came, all I could think of was diabetes, seeing all the sauce on top. It was surprisingly a subtle sweetness and the sauce complimented the pancakes well. They were super fluffy as well. This was on their special menu so come and try it before they switch things up. Our server Emily and staff were super attentive. Food came out in a timely manner and we did not have to flag anyone down for anything. You can tell that the staff is working in unity. Would definitely recommend people who are first timers in Arizona to check this place out. read more

Went in expecting the usual greasy spoon experience. This place is SO GOOD! Got seated quickly, our server Heather was a delight. She recommended the veg hash and oh MY WAS it good! We stopped here on a Friday around 10 am. Lots of people waiting outside, and we almost kept driving. But, it really was only about a 20 minute wait. I had the pancake special and hubby ordered the chicken fried steak. Pancakes had a little lemon flavor. They were a little tough, but good overall. The bacon, eggs, and sausage were average. I liked that they put the pancakes on a plate separate from the eggs, bacon, and sausage. Hubby's CFS was really good. Not overly gravied. We will go here again and maybe try lunch. read more

Yummy food, large portions, but it definitely has a southwestern bend to the food--lots of spice. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff, little bit pricey, and they didn't take plastic (there is a no-fee ATM by the door) read more

Pretty good restaurant, however, the reason I don't go there is because I am a senior and looking for savings through AARP or senior discount. You will not get it here. Therefore, I go to their competitors that do take senior discounts or AARP. being the owner is a senior he should understand a savings is a savings regards how small. However, to be fair to the restaurant if they-started taking AARP or offer senior discount, I would go back, Cause their food is good. read more

Great food, the vibe is happy laid back , staff are fabulous. Wish I had a OBH back home!!!

I was looking for a good breakfast brunch place and read several reviews of this highly rated restaurant. I became intrigued after I learned they had a few Hawaiian menu items. We drove almost an hour to get there. When we arrived, it wasn't too busy. We were immediately seated, offered drinks, and handed menus. We both ordered coffee and water. There were a lot of tempting items on the menu, which made it hard for me to decide. I ended up ordering Chicken Fried Steak and my wife ordered the Mushroom, Swiss, and Chicken Crepe. So much for a Hawaiian breakfast. My chicken fried steak was very good. The meat was fairly thick with thin breading. It was not greasy at all. It was definitely one of the best tasting CFS I'd eaten. The eggs were a tad undercooked and the hash browns are pretty basic. My wife's crepe was underwhelming to her. I thought it was Ok. It did have some flavor. Well, I could taste the Swiss cheese. It was the crepe itself that was underwhelming. It was kind of on the doughy side. I'm use to thin crepes. These were too thick. I wish my wife would've tried a Hawaiian breakfast to see if it would be worth returning. I would return for the CFS! It is kind of a drive for us; so time will tell! read more

This place has gone downhill over the last couple years. Food quality. Server quality. Transparency. I won't ever go back.

It's a cool little place. We were seated quickly. Our server, Cathy, was friendly and quick to greet us and take our drink order. Food was delicious. (I ordered Moco Loco (certain menu items - 40% proceeds going to Hawaii) and my guy had Hawaiian pancake plus eggs & bacon (extra $6). We left full. Serving size was quite filling. Fun place to hang plus they have large covered outdoor waiting area. They serve beeakfast and lunch. Come check them out. Please note payment is CASH ONLY !!!
