The breakfast tamales with green chile and hollandaise was perfect. The tamale was light & fluffy. The eggs cooked to order and the green chile & hollandaise was a fantastic combo. Attentive, friendly servers and delicious cinnamon rolls to take home to soothe the sweet tooth later. read more

Family owned restaurant. Incredibly kind, dedicated and thorough staff. The food is AMAZING. My absolute favorite breakfast restaurant in the valley. Great portion sizes. Very creative and yummy menu that will please any craving or picky eater. Cash only - but they do offer an atm in the lobby that doesn't charge you a fee for use! They do get very busy on the weekends, but well worth the wait. Also plenty of parking! read more

Good food, but not great food. Service was exceptional and server was friendly. The interior was cozy and welcoming.

Oh my gosh, best breakfast stop in the valley. Wish I lived right next door. I would be massive. Nothing else to say but great food. Great, great food. I finally was in the area and even though alone, I was excited to give the place a try. So what does one order when this excited? Everything!! :) I ordered their chicken fried steak with eggs (over easy) and added a piece of their French Toast. Hands down, best French Toast I have had. So sweet, with a little crunch, with wonderful flavor. The chicken friend steak was equally wonderful with great texture and sauce. The eggs, well they are eggs, but perfectly made. I would recommend my meal choice to anyone who likes perfection. As for all other factors, staff was so outgoing and checked on me often and the decor was lively but comfortable. I have to find my way back there. FYI-To keep their prices down and staff paid well, they only accept cash. They do have a fee free ATM on site. Great place!!!!!!!!! read more

Service and food were amazing! Even after we paid and tipped, the servers continued to check if we needed more water or coffee.

This place is the best breakfast place in Arizona. French toast is s tier, pancakes s tier, chicken fried steak s tier. Honestly the entire menu is good the only thing I don't eat here is Mexican dishes because they remind me of California Mexican not az Mexican food if that makes any sense... They also have a great seasonal menu that changes often and offers great rotating variety. Also, they have crazy delicious coffee. Always get coffee. read more

The food was OK, but I ubered to the place only to find out that it was a cash only. I had no idea before going there thank God I had cash. The service was good. There's nothing spectacular about this place only that it seems like a Denny's. read more

Definitely a local dive- I love trying whatever is on special (shoutout to the GF pumpkin pancakes sooo good!). Make sure you bring cash- if you forget, there's an ATM. If you come on the weekend be prepared to wait, I recommend going on a weekday if you're hungry! I had high expectations coming to this place given it has 4.5 stars on yelp with more than 1,000 votes. Maybe it was this high expectations that made me feel that this place is good but nothing special. Parking can be easily found and even though we arrived around 11am on a Wednesday it was busy and we waited few minutes for a table. The place only takes cash. I started with the barbacao Benedict which was a bit bland surprisingly since the beef and hollandaise should make anything work. The onion rings (I think) that came with it were cold. The dish was good but I expected more. For dessert I went with the banana pecan French toast and the server was nice to let me know they have half an order instead of getting two slices. They were tasty and I enjoyed the crunchiness of the toast but won't make it into the top French toasts I had. Ratings: Barbacao Benedict: 7/10 Banana pecan French toast: 8/10 read more

I wanted to leave a 4 star review because this is a cash only business, but I can't do it. I would feel like I am cheating on my favorite blueberry lemon curd pancakes, or disrespecting the homemade pop tarts! So a 5 star rating is well deserved. read more

Visiting from Washington state, we decided to check out this breakfast spot based on their ratings. We ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was such a good deal! Eggs, French toast, & fried chicken with gravy for only $16!! Everything was very tasty, & the French toast was delicious. Service was very nice and felt old school. We don't get a lot of that in Seattle. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

The OBH lives up to its reputation as a 5 star restaurant for breakfast! The service was fast and friendly, the food was excellent, and even though the place was Crowded, all employees were friendly and courteous. We'll be back. read more

Wonderful flavors - the owner has toured the country looking for the best made to create his versions of the dishes. Menus are updated often. We'll work trying. We will be back to try more dishes. read more

Came for breakfast last week with my husband for his birthday. We were seated right away which was really nice. It took awhile for the waitress to take our drink order and bring them out. But things got better as we went. We opted to share a Brioche Cinnamon Roll. My husband opted for the French toast with bacon and scrambled eggs. I decided to try the OBH eggs Benedict with home fries. The food was all good. My husband really enjoyed the cinnamon roll and his French toast (the French toast is deep fried). The location was a bit out of the way for us, so when you balance the drive time to get the food this place is a solid 4 stars for us. Inning read more

We chose this place because it was listed in the Phoenix Times 2019 list of Best Breakfast Spots. We got there around 11:15 on a Sunday, had a 20 minute waited and waited very little but if that time. We didn't realize until we sat down that there's a small bar area that seats about 6-8 people I guess. Be sure to check that out before waiting for a table. We ordered a glass of fresh pressed OJ, Apple juice and 1 cup of coffee. 1 cup of coffee is 1 pot of coffee by the way. The OJ was sooo good. Apple juice wasn't bad either. For breakfast I ordered the chicken fried chicken special with 1 slice of San Francisco French Toast and 2 scrambled eggs. My partner ordered 3 slices of San Francisco style French toast, a side of chicken sausage, 2 scrambled eggs and hash browns. Everything taste good but every single thing came out lukewarm, almost cold. Eggs, French toast, everything except for the chicken sausage. We assumed they were waiting for that to cook to bring everything out together. That was a little disappointing and because we waited so long for our food we didn't want to send anything back. The French toast is tasty, taste just like funnel cake, the had browns were regular and the chicken sausage were pretty good as well. However, they were cut up into little chucks instead of a sausage links, wasn't bad but unexpected. Original Pancake House is about a 20 min drive from me, not far by I didn't enjoy it enough to go again unless I'm in the area. read more

Since my review, I've received a lovely response from the business owner. The sports memorabilia that they sell is to support a local non-profit that helps kids. This is fantastic, and this kind deed of giving back to the community earns it another star! read more

I love their french toast, especially their banana foster french toast. I believe they have the best french toast I ever tasted. Totally would recommend. First I'd like to state that the service here is pretty amazing. I was greeted very warmly when signing in. Got seated in about 15 mins on a Sunday afternoon. Coming in the food selection was great I got the red chilaquiles with Birria meat. The flavor is really yummy and the radish added a super yummy crunch. The only thing that bothered me a little was that the food was like warm. Which was odd, because the food came out in less than five minutes. So I just asked for the food to be reheated which was fine.. My partner had a green Chilaquiles with steak and they were also very delicious. The only downfall was that the food was not spicy, but it was full in flavor. Over all this was a great restaurant and would definitely come back. ! read more

Still doesn't get any better than this place. After coming for years, the quality of the food is still outstanding, prices are still reasonable, the service is still extraordinary, and the atmosphere is still fun and inviting. The fresh-squeezed orange juice is the best. And even better? You get your first glass, and 1 free refill of the most amazing OJ - for a crazy reasonable price for fresh squeezed OJ - $4.00 for those two glasses! Speaking of outstanding service, while we were waiting on a Saturday morning (and be prepared for a wait on any Saturday morning), we saw a party of 3 leave after their great breakfast, and out ran a waitress after them carrying to-go containers of their refill of orange juice! WHO DOES THAT? Only OBH, that's who. Today I had the Green Chile Pork Omelette, wife and son split two amazing items - the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, and the Big Gooey Mess (potatoes, sausage, onions, mushrooms and cheddar in a HUGE scramble.) Son tasted the pancakes, and pushed away the little syrup carafe that comes with it, saying "Mrs. Butterworths, we don't need your help today!" Everything was delicious as always. We even got to be served by one of our favorite servers, Andrea - always on top of things, always pleasant, and always hustling. She's outstanding. And of course, John stopped by to check in on us toward the end of our meal. It's a treat to watch him work the room, AND the kitchen, AND the counter, AND the register... this guy sets the tone for OBH, and looks like he's having a blast doing it. Hope he never retires, but when he does, his son Nick will be there to carry the torch. Keep it up guys, you're doing it right - you're doing EVERYTHING right! read more

I love love love this place. It's Hawaii and surf themed and it reminds me of a little breakfast shop on the big island. Their chicken and waffles are delicious. I love biscuits and gravy too here. This is one of the BEST spots in Phoenix/Scottsdale for brunch. The menu is filled with classic and unique southwestern dishes and they have specials as well. ALL of it is phenomenal. They have shady areas outside with live music for people who are waiting. We've seen "celebrity" chefs from local top notch restaurants here on occasion which is a testament again to how awesome this place is. Because of the volume of people, they have a time limit on busy days for dining, we don't mind, the food and service are fast moving. They only take cash but have an ATM. Alice Cooper's School of Rock is in the same strip mall area and you can tell he has a stamp of approval here as well. Do yourself a favor and check it out! read more

Original Breakfast House - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I was in Phoenix on business, with the two owners of my company. After eating hotel breakfasts for four mornings straight, I needed something real. I had made the decision to go out on my last day, even if my companion decided not to join me. Thankfully, I did not have to dine alone. We got to the restaurant around 7:30 am. While my boss parked the car, I went in to snag a table. I waited all of thirty seconds before a friendly man came to seat me. We had been warned by friends the night before, that it could be an hour wait on the weekends. We must've gotten to the restaurant at the perfect time, because when we were leaving there was a group of people lined up outside that were waiting to get in. The waitstaff was very good to us. They got our food out quick and made sure to refill our drinks whenever they got low. The portions were larger than we expected. My boss ordered more than he could handle. We split (more in his favor) a cinnamon bun...so yummy. He had the grits and finished those off quickly. He also ordered a huge scrambled mess (not the actual name). He only ate half before he began waving the white flag. I chose the Irish Benedict and it was superb! If you're in town definitely check this place out. If there's a line, go ahead and wait...it's worth it! read more

Where to start, as a first time customer I went in bright eyes and ready to eat. The place did not disappoint. The food was amazing!!!! We started with freshly squeezed orange juice, they literally were squeezing the juice in front of us. Moving on to the actual meal, well the picture speaks for itself...HUGE portion size and delicious. To top it off they had crazy customer service. The place was packed but you can tell they were well prepared for the crowd. Need to go back and try their cinnamon rolls. My tip if you're with a small group keep an eye out for the bar seats. On the weekends the wait may be about 30min. read more

My son turns 9 today and he wanted Denny's - however; I am not a fan of chain restaurants. I coaxed him into going to OBH. As usual there was a lot of people, and we were advised it would be a 45 min- 1 hour wait. We were incredibly lucky and only waited for 20 min before being seated. Ordered the fresh OJ, bacon waffle (amazing!!), Blue berry lemon curd pancakes, and the Fried chicken steak with hash-browns. I was not a fan of the lemon curd on pancakes- my son had the same opinion. He ate half of the pancakes, and the rest went to waste. There wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the flavor or texture I guess this would fall into the acquired state area. The chicken fried steak was tender, flavorful, loved that it was not greasy the coating was crispy and delicious, the gravy wasn't out of this world - I think it could use a bit more umph. Our waitress was great- professional and efficient. I did run into an issue with a male server. He was coming out of the kitchen while I was leaving the bathroom area. He cut me off and yelled WATCH IT. I responded with excuse you?? You cut me off- he huffed and went on his way. He was not carrying any trays of food. Just found the exchange extremely rude. I don't blame OBH but that individual. read more
