    Country fried steak
    Allison J.

This place is nice. The restaurant is a little cramped inside. I got the country fried steak and eggs and honestly not bad. The eggs were good. I asked for fries and got potatoes however. The country fried steak itself isn't horrible. It's is crunchy because it has more batter I think. The gravy also was kind of bland and needed salt. Not to compare but Cracker Barrel country fried steak I personally think is better. The staff is friendly though and quite nice.

Solid hole-in-the-wall breakfast place. Small and tight, the service is genuine and lovely. Food is definitely diner style with generous portions and fairly priced. Find this place and enjoy.

Went back to try the lunch. Had a great turkey melt with green chilies and hot crisp fries. Probably needed a bit of nayo, but great turkey quality.

It had been a few years since I had been here. Not because the food and service isn't great, we just don't live in the area. Was craving pork roll (it's a Jersey thing), my husband had the day off for our anniversary and were going to be close by for another errand so 40th St. was the perfect spot. Ordered my regular breakfast sandwich subbing the pork roll for standard breakfast meat. ($3.99 upcharge but well worth it). Husband ordered the Polish sausage breakfast. Place is full of regulars the wait staff know on a first name basis. Food comes out quickly and hot. Mine was perfect. Husband's would have been but he ordered hashbrowns but received home fries. Home fries cooked great but he hates potato skin. His scrambled eggs cooked nicely and polish sausage split and caramelized on the flat top. My sandwich was as it always is. Bread and pork roll griddled perfectly. Egg over medium, cheese melty. This sandwich is a taste of home for me. Two eggs instead of one would have made my year. This little spot serves great breakfast at a decent price. Personable customer service in a clean atmosphere. Thank you 40th St. Cafe for making my anniversary breakfast a wonderful experience.

Love this little Cafe! The staff is amazingly friendly, the food is always great no matter what I have had, and the prices are unbelievable! It is a cozy Cafe so sometimes there is a little wait but well worth it!

Was up in North Phoenix for a doctor's appointment, and stopped in 40th Street Cafe for breakfast. This is my style of breakfast restaurant - small diner, servers knew most of the people, clean, and reasonable prices on the menu. Had the scramble, which included a large biscuit, slices of ham, scrambled eggs, and hash browns, all topped with really good sausage gravy. Great portion - fast service. Will definitely make a point of coming back when in this area of the Valley. They have a bustling to-go service as well.

Hamburger patty and eggs over easy, hash browns, toast , great tasting ice tea

I haven't had a crepe in a long time so was excited to have one. I parked in the parking garage nearby and it was a short walk over here. The space is large with lots of indoor seating and a nice, spacious patio. Would love to take advantage of that when it cools down, though they do have misters. There was only one person when we arrived, but a large party and other small groups came in afterwards. We perused the menu for a bit and went to order at the counter. There are a lot of options but I went with a classic: Nutella and strawberries ($13.25). The gal ringing us up was friendly and took care of us. You can enter your phone number to sign up for their rewards program, which gets you $5 off your next purchase. We got a number card and grabbed a table against the wall. Our waters and latte came out pretty quickly, and it didn't take long for our food to arrive afterwards. The presentation of the plates is lovely and appealing. I enjoyed my sweet dish; the tart strawberries were a nice complement to the rich chocolate Nutella, providing a balance of flavors. I finished my food and it was surprisingly filling. Multiple staff checked in on us throughout our meal which was nice. Overall, this was a great choice for breakfast and I hope to come back in the future.

I had no idea they were open that late! What a charming place. It wasn't very busy, which I'm assuming was because it was dinner time and perhaps not everyone realizes they are open that late. The menu offers so many options that it was honestly hard to decide, everything looked delicious. Since it was dinner, we chose savory crêpes, but the sweet crêpes looked fantastic, and the breakfast crêpes (served until 3pm) look great too! I ordered the Nordic Crêpe, filled with smoked salmon, dill sour cream, capers, scallions, pickled red onions, and lemon. It was served with a side salad of baby greens. I enjoyed it and thought the flavors worked well together. I would have liked a little more filling, but overall it was a good meal, and I especially enjoyed the fresh side salad. My daughter ordered the Truffled Caprese Crêpe with mozzarella, basil, cherry tomatoes, and truffle oil. Hers was absolutely delicious, and I would definitely order that one myself next time. My friend chose the Cali Truffle Crêpe, which came with turkey, mozzarella, bacon, truffle oil, basil, cherry tomatoes, and spring mix. She ordered the avocado and jalapeños it comes with on the side. She had mixed feelings about it. The bacon seemed to overpower the other flavors, and she didn't get much of the truffle taste she was expecting. For drinks, my daughter had the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and loved it. I ordered the Spritz à Paris, made with Prosecco, orange bitters, and sparkling water. It was light, refreshing, and paired nicely with dinner. I loved the beautiful chandeliers and the overall atmosphere of the space. They also have an outdoor patio that would be nice during the fall and winter months when the weather is cooler. We had a lovely experience and will definitely be back. Next time, I want to try the breakfast menu and one of the sweet crêpes. I also have my eye on their frozen mimosa!

Parking was easy with both street and garage options available, which is always a plus. The space offers both indoor seating and a dog-friendly patio, giving it a relaxed and welcoming vibe. We ordered the Strawberry Latte and a vanilla cappuccino. Unfortunately, the Strawberry Latte was a bit disappointing since it lacked much strawberry flavor and isn't something we'd order again. The vanilla cappuccino, however, was excellent -- rich, flavorful, and served piping hot, which I personally loved. Even though one drink missed the mark, the atmosphere and the cappuccino made it worth the visit. Definitely a spot worth stopping into and trying for yourself.

The kitchen is in the middle of the shop, and with 6+ employees working there, it created a lot of noise. The matcha was okay, but pricey at $9. WeBe Coffee Roasters is one of those finds that makes you wish you had discovered it sooner. Even more so, I wish I lived closer. The space alone is worth the trip. The team put real thought into every aspect of the experience. The counter has a beautiful waved ribbed wood design, the colors are immersive without being overwhelming, and the whole interior has a visual balance that most designers would be proud of. There are flowers around the cafe that give it a gentle, unexpected touch. I genuinely regretted not bringing a better camera. But the coffee is the real story. They source specialty beans from different parts of the world and roast in-house on a Primo roaster, which is a hand-built machine that serious roasters invest in. I had a double espresso, something I cannot live without, and it held up to the room. The seating is comfortable and well thought out. There is room for conversation and room to get work done. I ended up staying longer than I planned, which is always the sign of a good spot. They also have a merch area with coffee gear worth browsing, and bags of their roasted coffee available to take home. On the back wall there is a mural that reads, "Making good coffee, good fun." That line does a better job describing this place than anything I could write. This one feels like it belongs in Scottsdale. North Phoenix is lucky to have it.

The menu looked really good so my sis and I went to give it a shot since they also have baked goods. Walking in, the space was huge which makes sense as it's inside of chompies and I love that spot. We got some cookies from the bakery and it's weighed for pricing. The chocolate butter cookies were delicious but the other ones tasted a bit funny and not at all like butter cookies. We ordered an iced brown sugar oat milk shaken with cold foam and iced turtle with cold foam. The lady at the register was nice and asked if we really wanted cold foam, and we said yes twice. The coffee was taking a while so we walked around the area and looked at their merchandise but the coffees still wasn't done so we sat at the chairs and tables by the coffee place. The lady at the register stated that the cold foam wasn't working out and they are trying and asked if we still wanted to wait. Well of course we did cause we paid an extra dollar and some change for the cold foam. So it's odd that she was going to give us the coffee without it and not even ask if we wanted anything else in place of that. After what seemed like 15 minutes waiting for iced coffee we finally got it and as you can see from the picture, there was barely any cold foam. The lady was nice but the experience was lacking due to the order not being what we really wanted. Both coffees were sweet and it was not terrible. I'd go back for the baked goods only.
