Great breakfast place. I have had the chicken friend steak with over easy eggs and home fries with 2 chocolate chip/raspberry pancakes. Each order of fresh squeezed OJ comes with 1 complementary refill. Everything tastes very good and obvious high quality ingredients used. Friendly and efficient staff. read more

Original Breakfast House - Chicken fried steak, hash browns, 2 eggs over easy and 2 Chocolate/raspberry pancakes. Very Good!!!! - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

Wow this place gets crowded so keep that in mind. Upon looking at their menu, starting sept 1 they will only be accepting cash. That's weird. I never carry cash and probably won't want to withdraw money just to have breakfast. I had basic ham steak and scrambled eggs. You can't mess that up but the eggs were a bit dry. Coffee was good and service was excellent. You pay at the front. I returned here with a friend and got the chicken fried chicken covered in sexy white sausage gravy. It needed seasoning but it was good. I had to put some hot sauce on it. For some reason the eggs are really good, I got them medium. My friend got French toast and it was so good, I stole a piece of his! read more

Yum!!! Always great! although we haven't been there in a while, need to return someday soon!!

Came here on a Monday morning and boyyyy, are they busy! The food and service was great. Everything was reasonably priced. I appreciate their transparency with their cash-only policy (as evident on the menu, website, and various signs on the walls). They also have an ATM onsite for customer's convenience. read more

So, so good. I really enjoy the shrimp and grits. We have been there numerous times and have been happy with food and service every time. Note... there will most likely be a wait, but it's worth it. read more

The food was fantastic! We visited this establishment which is located in the north Phoenix area today, 07/09/20. I read the reviews on yelp regarding this please and figured we check something new out. I have to see the positive reviews were spot on! I had the two large pancakes with a side of sausage links. The food was very tasty, fresh and reasonably priced for the amount that you receive. Staff was very friendly, professional and attentive. Should you decide to check this place out, please note and be aware they do not accept credit or debit card. You must have cash. They do have a no fee charge ATM at the entrance of the restaurant if you need it. I highly recommend this please if you're looking for a local eatery to support. Next time I'm in the area I do plan on stopping in once again. read more

Amazing food ! Service was great on both occasions. I go here every chance I get. Breakfast is the best !

Great food. I went on a weekend which was a bad decision. I waited for an hour for seating. It was recommended by a friend, so I decided to trying out. There was a large variety of options but I stuck with the eggs and pancakes. Tatyana we're both excellent. Go on weekdays unless you want to stand B outside for an hour. read more

Food is not below average at all, service is acceptable considering it is very hard for them to find workers now. Be kind. Atmosphere is a plus but you should realize this area of Phoenix is overrun with hoboes at this time, so if that kind of thing bothers you, reconsider. I enjoyed my meal for the most part. read more

Awesome service, great coffee and the food is incredible. I had the chipped beef (aka SOS) and my date had a green chili pork omelette. The food was really good! The servers are just so nice here. The vibe of this place is relaxed and very comfortable. I would definitely come here again. It's cash only here. They do have no fee ATM's to use. The "cash only" is clearly stated on the menu and it's explained why. I get why they do it the way that they do. read more

We discovered this place by accident. The wait was not bad. 15 minutes on a Sunday morning. The waitress was super friendly and the owner checked on everyone on a regular basis which is quite rare in a restaurant. We shared the farmers omelette and the raspberry, chocolate chip pancakes. They were both amazing. The orange juice is freshly squeezed, and you get a free refill. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 stars is because the bus boy station was close by and they were quite noisy slamming plates and silver ware. read more

I have a friend who loves Original Breakfast House and basically goes every week. I'm somewhat new to the area and have been looking for a breakfast spot with unpretentiously good food, so she invited me to go with her. The wait was about 35ish minutes around 10am on a Sunday, but I had somebody to talk to, so it went by fairly quickly. Expect a wait if you come here on the weekend. They also had an ice bucket of waters for people waiting which was really nice. This restaurant has an old-school, homey vibe which is kind of refreshing. I'm a vegetarian who loves savory breakfast and there were more than enough options to choose from. Additionally, they seem pretty friendly about subbing veggies for meat if necessary. I opted for the garden hash with poached eggs which was a delicious blend of potatoes, veggies, and cheese. I found the portion sizes to be reasonable for the price. I'm excited to go back in the future and maybe try an eggs benedict with veggies (and no ham of course). Our server was also helpful and friendly. Overall, I would definitely come again to try more things. My friend swears by their lemon scones and freshly squeezed OJ, so I'll need to try these next time! This place is cash only, but there are no-fee atms on site. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. I felt that the food was hearty, unpretentiously delicious, and reasonably priced. read more

I often have to avoid this place since I rarely carry cash. I arrived for a mid day meal during the weekday and it wasn't pack. Ordered the green chili omelet which was very well seasoned. The server was attentive and made sure my party and our orders were good. Diner is decorated nice however it isn't a fancy looking place, I would say very cozy. I would return when I have cash on hand and in the area. read more

Loved it. Great service. Great food. They were packed so it was slow to get the food but understandable.

Great vibe, not your typical breakfast spot; I've never once had a bad meal in fact each one has always been fantastic. Be sure to check out the specials menu...there's always good stuff on there. Nice little breakfast and lunch place. Kind of off the beaten path, but worth looking for. We sat at the counter so as to not have to wait, but the folks we talked to said the wait is usually not that bad. Clientele was a mixed bag. Lots of the railroad-spike through the nose crowd, but also a smattering of families and trucker-types. Specials were listed on a white board. They had a crab omelette that sounded great tho we decided to eat off the regular menu. My wife had the French toast which looked superb. In order to make our sugar rush a bit more interesting, we split the brioche cinnamon roll which was great. Don't think I've ever seen a cinnamon roll made from brioche dough; the inventor should patent the dang thing. I usually use Cinnabon as my baseline for cinna-rollage, but this li'l gem had my standard beat generously. The Smooveness of the dough was just superb and it wasn't overly gooey like some tend to be. Also ordered a side of biscuits and gravy which turned out to be the surprise of the meal. Man, that was one spanky side. The biscuit was fluffy and not really dense like most overworked ones you find at chain places. Plenty of sausage made this one a must have the next time I return. Couple next to us chowded down on them as a main dish. Big Larry say they knew what they were doing. Big Larry had the chorizo burrito that was served "smothered" style with a green sauce and cheese. Quite good; wish there was more sauce. Staff was friendly and helpful and good at cleaning up and seating folks. We didn't feel rushed, though. Left off a star or two for atmosphere and the noise level, but the food was excellent. read more

On our way to the airport from Prescott we decided the highly reviewed breakfast house and she did not disappoint. This place was packed as expected for a Sunday morning but they sat us down quick. I was starving at this point and was looking for the biggest meal on the menu which was the breakfast scramble I believe. It's really hard to mess up breakfast but a lot harder to make breakfast really good. My meal was the bomb and my buddy got the French toast which was huge and luckily more than enough for him which meant more for me. The service was great and the food was delicious. read more

The atmosphere and service are fun and pleasant. They only take cash but have an atm inside that didn't charge us which was pretty darn cool. But my and my wife's breakfast sounded amazing but were just pretty good when it came down to it. Also, there doesn't need to be meat in every single meal. I know I can ask not to have it in mine for a lot of the menu options but look at the menu on line. It's pretty nuts. We'll probably go back some day but won't be in a rush to do it. read more

Cool breakfast spot. They have a pretty extensive menu and their serving sizes are generous. I got the linguica and cheddar scramble with hash browns and pancakes. The gf got the chilaquiles. I really liked my meal - it hit my breakfast spot that morning. Sausage, eggs, cheese, hash browns, and finished it with pancakes that had a little extra something. The gf didn't really care for her meal though. It was a huge serving and a huge waste of food unfortunately. I didn't try much because I had my hands full with my breakfast so I can't comment, I can only report what she said. She said it was basically corn tortillas chips with green salsa and an egg on top. She said it was "disjointed" and not cooked together like she is used to. Still I'd come back to try different food and I think she would too. It's cash only as other have stated - a little weird but luckily we had cash anyway and they have an ATM in the place. read more

I came after reading the reviews and it was pretty good. I got the Chicken Fried Chicken w/ home fries and it came with the French Toast. The chicken could have used some salt in the breading or gravy but the potatoes were seasoned well so I just ate them together. The French toast was my fave! It was buttery and a bit crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The coffee is also good! It's super busy so it took a while for my server to come to my table (which is understandable) but she was a gem. I would come back, maybe not during peak hours but I enjoyed it overall. read more

Tried to come here a couple weeks ago, saw the reviews, however wait was too long, so decided to give it another shot today. Went around 12:45 and there was no wait! So either go really early or later. Wanted to try so many things on the menu and couldn't make a decision. The waitress, Kimberly was absolutely so sweet and helpful! She was very patient. We had the ribeye steak and scrambled eggs - there's different options for sides, I went with pancakes and crispy hash! Usually I have to ask for the hash browns to be done crispy but this place had it perfect! The pancake has a sweet lemon flavor to it. I couldn't figure it out, but it clearly states that on the menu. We also had the French toast special which came with bacon and eggs. The sourdough French toast was also flavored with lemon zest, vanilla, and cinnamon! It was dipped and deep fried. Never had French toast like this before! It was amazing!!! I didn't have the fresh squeezed orange juice but my company told me it taste so good and never had OJ that good and fresh before! Now... I wish I could give this place 5 stars, but I was a little disappointed with the restroom. There was one restroom for each sex and it was a little unkept. I understand it may have been the end of the day for them since the place closes at 2pm and probably the brunch rush, however they could at least have more than one stall for a restaurant of that size! The decor and furniture are a little dated but at least it wasn't dirty. We will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu! read more

Beautiful Sunday morning so we enjoyed our 30 minutes wait outside. I am amazed that the staff is as friendly and competent as they are. This place is rocking and moving, but it's not frantic.
