I was excited but only 6 months later then my car broke again as same transmission and I find out they aren't good take care of my car. I decided to contact my friend is Chris at Original auto. The invoice/payment records for my vehicle were issued through Original Auto Collision & Repair Center, which is owned by Cris. However, my vehicle was located in front of unit 2 and between 2&3 at one point. Furthermore, Unit 2 has a physical sign displayed above it that explicitly lists the website "originalautoperformance.com" connecting these spaces. My understanding throughout this process based on the setup and what I verbally was told, was that both sides were working together. I have messages from Cris explicitly stating that Pablo was asking for payment for the drivability tune (which they later denied as being done). Because they publicly stated there is "no record," I will be adding screenshots/photos. I'm simply sharing my documented experience $14,000 for a blown engine and missing parts!! I trusted Cristhian (Cris) at Original Auto collision center with my RB25DET rebuild. Just 242 miles later, the engine is completely failing. A professional inspection confirmed improper assembly. I dealt mostly with Cris at Original Auto Repair and Collision Center, but Cris told me over the phone that his brother Pablo would be the one handling the tuning setup for the car. These operations work right next to each other in the same complex under overlapping signage. Here is my experience. Cris offered to rebuild my rod knock motor with a shop engine for the same price as an eBay motor. Cris asked for my old engine as a free core, then later tried to charge me $600 for it. The engine was improperly assembled by Cris's shop. Professional leak down and compression tests showed massive air leaks from all ports and severely low compression and the IAC valve was not routed, taking in unmetered air / possible debris into the system. There was a lot of metal /brass shavings and a lot of debris in the oil. Debris and metal were also found in the coolant. There was a lot of fuel diluted oil total of 8.5 quarts that was drained from engine. A lot of oil debris on my rear bumper and trunk(soot). Car was running super rich. Right out of the gate I had starting problems that Cris verbally blamed on the battery. My new black Wix filter for a used white Nissan filter from my old engine by Cris's shop Three parts were shipped to Cris, and tracking proves Pablo signed for two TPS sensors. Only one was installed; the second was never returned or installed. Cris told me I needed an IACV adapter, but Cris's shop never installed it, never informed me, and never returned it. My new air filter was swapped for another. I noticed scratches on my rear windshield and my temp gauge on the Nismo cluster wasn't working. Someone left my trunk open in the rain, destroying my carpets with water and mold. Cris told me the car was ready for pick up. The car overheated within 20 minutes reaching 240 degrees, Called Cristhian he advised me to keep driving it home, I told him I wasn't going to drive the car like that, he then told me to take it back to his shop so they could remove thermostat and that his shop had tried to bleed the air out of the system for an hour(mind you they let me drive the car out like that stating it was "ready" and to keep an eye out on temps).They later tried to bill me to remove the thermostat on a "fresh rebuild". Chris told me Pablo handled the tune, and public state records prove Pablo lacked an active automotive license during my build. Now, Cris asks "Did you get the car/engine tuned properly...?" to avoid accountability. This is a lie. Cris texted that the car would get plumbing, electrical, and tuning before pick up. I have text proof of Cris stating Pablo is requesting payment for a "drivability tune" an undisclosed charge billed after pickup. Cris refused upfront quotes, hit me with massive undisclosed charges, and tried to double bill my fuel pump after pickup!! Cris is refusing accountability for this build. Went here for a tune for my GT-R, Agreed that we would need larger INJECTOR DYNAMICS injectors and was told 1300-1700cc injectors is what I would need, did all my research myself and seen 1700cc would be the max I should go, however Pablo went ahead and added 2150cc low quality Fuel Injector Clinic brand injectors without even telling me or having me agree (I would have said that's overkill and told him not to install them) however he installed them without my consent and ended up giving me such a crap tune my car couldn't even idle in place, I told him about this and he kept saying that it's normal and that's how my car is supposed to sound and run and there's no issue, no matter how many times I tried explaining that he was wrong he would tell me I was wrong. There was a nasty rattle from under my car which turned out to be a loose driveshaft that they didn't tighten back up after the tune, then a few months later the motor blew due to the terrible tune. So many other people have been having nightmares here, take the advice and do not support this place. read more

If you value your safety, and your money, stay FAR AWAY from Original Auto as possible! I am the owner of a 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R, and have been facing extensive downtimes ever since I brought my car here 3 years ago. The car has only driven 4,000 miles since their work was done. To this day, it has had various issues that put myself and my family's life at risk. We had complete trust and faith that Original Auto was going to perform good work on a full engine rebuild, but it was quite the opposite really. The entire oil pan was flooded with RTV and gasket maker, and there was NO gasket on the oil or water pump, causing oil and coolant leaks. The car also had a HICAS delete job done by Original Auto, which failed traveling on the highway on December 13th, 2022. This caused the car to veer violently to the right and into the shoulder, almost causing a major accident. Original Auto did a very poor job installing the fuel system, which resulted in a very bad leak that created puddles of gasoline. This is extremely dangerous and unacceptable from a business. I paid this shop over $30,000 and have gotten nothing out of it! These guys are not professionals, and refused to make it right. They will betray your trust, and completely lie to your face. read more

Brought my car in to replace fuel pump, install oil cooler, and install e85 kit. Simple. One hour after leaving their shop my fuel pump fails and leaves me stranded on the side of the road. Had to get the car towed to my house. He tells me that the e85 piggyback kit wouldnt fit my injectors and that it would be messy. I knew this was wrong, but i didnt want to call him out on it. Im very non-confrontational and hes the mechanic so i didnt want to be rude and tell him he doesnt know what hes doing. But now I will. You guys have NO IDEA what youre doing. Me and my friend installed the kit AND replaced the fuel pump IN MY DRIVEWAY IN ONE AFTERNOON WITHOUT SPENDING A DIME. Really think about that. Two 19 year olds watched one youtube video and installed the kit. I dont even think these guys opened up my engine because IF THEY DID they would see the the injector harnesses from the kit fit just fine. Please, whatever you do, just take my advice and dont go here. Theyre terrible scummy mechanics and they WILL deny you any sort of refund if they mess up your car. read more

I dealt with these guys over a a period of about 2 years and it was unending problems after and during the build. I have spent about 30k at this shop and didn't realize until now, how bad dealing with this shop is. The biggest issue is how big of a scam these receipts are, the shop usually gets parts at a cheaper price than a customer like me would, yet this was not the case as the shop up charged me on parts an insane amount compared to what I could have bought for a much cheaper price. The actual breakdown receipt wouldn't even have any of the details of the parts that way I couldn't figure out how much it should actually cost. I still have all of the receipts and look back at them and realize how bad I got ripped off, I was young and dumb, and sadly put my trust into the wrong people and got taken advantage of due to that. When I got the car back I had to take it back to get the tune adjusted about 5 times because they didn't get it right the first time. There are many complaints that I can start stating, but one that really made me upset was that the turbo oil return hose that was used was a heater hose that swelling up as it is not supposed to be used for oil, that swelled up to the point that it touched the headers and melted causing an oil leak. So many problems with this shop and they never own up to their mistakes. I would avoid this shop at all costs, it's just not worth the headache. read more

Found the shop on EcuTek as a licensed dealer, and went on good faith with that in mind. Pablo was my main contact and was all of the above statements - very responsive and reasonable with his pricing. When my new cat-back exhaust and catalytic converters were installed and the tuning was finished, Pablo sent me the Dyno chart along with letting me know the car was ready. And when they repaired it, he was throwing water and they wanted more money and the budget went up 600 dollars more. They told me 3000 and it came out at 3600 and they got mad and  I had to fix it, they need more experience and responsibility and they take a long time to fix. I'm not from LA originally so finding a new mechanic you can trust was difficult. Luckily I found Original Auto and was introduced to Christian and Pablo who have been my go to mechanics for years. They are a family run and operated business and are growing. Its been 3 years since I've known them and haven't gone to anyone else since. Recently had my distributor, spark plugs, sockets replaced, and a tune up. All done in a timely manner. Their prices are hard to compete with too. Let me start that I had to rebuild my motor after 800 miles do to the supercharger belt they installed slipping off which cause other damage, so there is some bias in my review. No i didnt take it back for them to fix or even see once the it happened. Read below to see why I did what i did. I understand that you can point to driver error so I will only keep my complaints about the service and workmanship. Original did a lot of work on my 2005 honda s2000 in early 2016 including installing a supercharger and all supporting mods clutch, fuel pump, injectors, tct, aftercooler,tune, custom mounting stuff etc.. they seem to do good work but my current mechanic would say other wise. But all mechanics talk crap about the previous Mechanic work right? They will help you order parts at a good price and will work with you to pick up your car my current Mechanic suck with this portion of the business. My biggest complicate is commication in order. Call them red flags I should have saw now that I look back on things. First, lets start by asking me to drop it off on a holiday weekend knowing the shop would not touch the car. Guess they did not think i want to use my car? wtf? 2nd, was installing a USED supercharger belt which fail after 800 miles which caused extensive damage, forcing me to take off tthe superchager to fix. I gave them two NEW belts to replace the used belt. They didn't use them. NOT one phone call to say the new belts I gave them don't work, you want me to order new belts? Instead installing a used part knowing it's a weakness of all supercharger kit. Can call me to sale me a tune but not a to recommend a safety mod? hmm. 3rd, return after 80 miles when I notice leaking aftercooler due to a rubbing hose. simple fix which was adjusting the fitting so the hose would not rub anymore and cut the hose to make it shorter, no new parts need. I get charge for this fix that was cause due to installation error? no free lunch here but can someone stand behind there work? Paying for installation two times instead of seeing how that was an oversight during install, and should be cover under warranty showed my alot about their workmanship and professionlism. Lastly besides messing up a $250 cusco strut tower on the car and not taking responsibility for it by reimbursing me for it was the final bill!! No communication prior to notify me that the bill came to over $1,000+ the original estimate. This is the first shop I have gone too that will complete that much work over the estimate Without a call to the customer to notify them...Lucky I had the money to cover these charges or else they could have put a lien on the car. Basically they could have been the new owner of my car due to these crazy increase in charges they never notify me about if i could not come of with the money. If i would have gotten an accurate quote I would have gone to a different establishment as there were other places that could do the work and most importantly stand behind it. The bait and switch is strong here like the car dealership. Hope they can fix these communication issues and professionalism as it was good to have a shop in the valley to go too. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOU CAR HERE! Got my car back with my dash cam unplugged and my gas light on. Checked my dash cam and Chris took my car from Van Nuys to Bellflower! When I confronted him about it, he stated " I needed to take your car for a test drive, I do that ALL my cars and I turned off your dash cam cause it was making noises. I had Engine coolant reflush and change spark pluges and wire for VW Euro Van. They did flush engine coolant but they did not put back hose clamp in position, It was Labor holiday, My car hose blowed up after I driving 3 hours on the 101 freeway, I found that 2 hose clamps were not in place, they did not put it back !!!, they also barely replaced VW spark pluges, they took out every hoses to reach the spark pluges, I was not feel good about it , they just need a tool to pull out VW spark pluges. they just ruined my vacation and I had hard time to fill up engine coolant and put hose clamp back to the position on holiday weekend. I will never go back this place again.. read more

Stay away from this facility at all costs. I brought my sons car for an engine rebuild which lasted less than 100 miles. They assured me they were competent in engine rebuilds. The freshly machined block and head was destroyed from improper preparation and assembly . Tearing down the brand new cooked motor revealed that the block was not cleaned properly. The oil galleys and cooling passages were full of metal. The brand new oil pump pickup screen was caked with solid metal debris. In addition the valves were installed back in with what appears to be the wrong size valve spring compressor damaging the bearing journals the cams ride in. The damage was so severe the head and cams needed to be replaced. All total this cost me in excess of $7K to have it done correctly by another shop as well as the car being down another 5 months. Additionally the transmission appears to have been dropped as the bell housing was cracked which required welding to repair. Many of the bolts and fasteners were not OEM that were used in the rebuild. The new builder found many of the threads in the bolt holes cross threaded or completely gone. It appears an impact wrench was used for reassembly ignoring factory torque specs. On an aluminum block and trans this creates havoc. The owner refused to share in any of the costs to have it rebuilt correctly. read more

I brought my LS1 240sx here and let's start by saying they took my brand new battery that I bough 3 weeks prior to going there and they put some 7 year old battery in my car that was shot and now I need to replace again. They also did a half ass job on my hydraulic e brake. This shop will take ur money and will not satisfy the customer. I never called just because I know how these guys work they have fucked over numerous people and friends of mine and They just don't care. I had a 240sx with a RB20 swap. Swap was done by the previous owner and it had a lot of issues, misfiring, boost leaks etc. These guys are swap experts! LS, JZ, RB and others as well. They were able to pin point issues and tell me what would be the best fix and the best upgrade while doing so. I eventually sold my 240 and got a 335i. I thought I wasn't going to be able to bring it to them for servicing. Come to find out they work on European vehicles to after I had some exhaust work done. Everything can be done here from A to Z fabrication work to big turbo installs and even body work. Chris And Pablo take care of me and my cars every time I go. Let me start by saying thank you to Chris and Pablo for their help over the years I have had my car. In 2015 I bought an '89 R32 GTR and after a few months of owning it (and enthusiastic driving) the syncros on second and third gear went out, I happened to be in San Diego at the time and I was browsing online to see if I could pick up a used gearbox locally. Original Auto had an ad up for one and I sent them a text. Soon after we were talking numbers and we had a deal. I trailered my car up to Original Auto and dropped it off, not a day later did they send me a text saying that the car was done. When I got to Van Nuys the following day Chris told me what they had done, got in the car with me, and we hopped on the freeway; he wanted to make sure that the car was running smoothly after the fresh install. This was my first experience with Chris and Pablo and accurately represents what they try to do with their business, that is to cater to the exact needs of the customer. 2016 rolled around and I had a classic rb26 issue, oil failure. With a spun bearing I knew that there was only one shop that I wanted to work on my car. I trailered the car from Tucson, AZ all the way to Van Nuys and dropped it off again. After about three months Chris called me up, The car was not only rebuilt but now making 394 WHP on pump gas and stock twin turbos. More than enough for the time being. Chris and Pablo were on time, communicative, and worked hard to make sure the car looked, sounded and felt good to drive. 2018 and another engine failure, this time due to a bad tune set up by someone in Tucson, go figure I knew just the person to take the car to. Once again I loaded the Skyline onto my trailer and made the journey to Van Nuys. As of right now the car sits there and I am planning to pick it up this weekend, and you know what? It's going to be rather boring, when you work with Chris and Pablo there is an almost boring regularity, I am not worried about the car not working, I know it will. I am not worried about the car breaking, I know it won't. Original Auto and its employees are great guys, in my experience they do some of the best work on the West Coast, I wouldn't trailer my car hundreds of miles just to be worked on by them if they didn't. read more

Hi my name is Darius i am an African American guy who initially took my car a 2012 Dodge challenger to " Originals " in November 2018 to install a new oil pan and Chris and his brother who is the son of the Mother and Father who own the business who conducted the work on my car and told me since i am getting a new oil pan installed and need a new clutched installed since the transmission would be out already ,He would install the clutch as well . I PAID a total of over $3000 After 1 week i was informed that my master cylinder / slave cylinder was replaced because it was old ,i did not Authorized the removal of it .After almost 1 month i was told my car was ready . I went to pick it up and drove directly to elmonte one hour away , On my way back to Losangeles my brakes went completely out and my clutch had burned out as well . By the grace of GOD i did not die although my leg was injuried amd my car was smoking and spinned out ,i was taken to West Valley Hospital and my car was towed back to Originals ,At the time "Chris" was out of the country for the holidays .Once i was discharged from the hospital with a leg brace i was extremely disappointed because i could have lost my life . Immediatetely i went back to Originals with pictures of the brakes caliber being broke and a police report as well as hospital discharge papers . Chris called me and immediately blamed me for my car caliber being broke a week later he returned from out of the country and after inspected my car he told me that one of his employees didnt tighten a screw and this is the reason why my brakes went out ,Chris told me he fired the guy because of it and the issue will be corrected . After another a new clutch was replaced for the second time i was told that the car was ready i went to pick it up again and after 1 days of driving my car my clutch burned out . I was told by chris to find a way to have it towed back to Originals and he would see what the issue was .After having my car for another 3 weeks i was towed that my car was ready for the 3rd time .I asked chris could we test drive it this time before i drive off with it to make sure it has nonore issues chris told me he would be late to pick up his son but assured me my car was fixed, i begain to drive off when i heard a noise and ask him what was the noised he said that its a hemi engine so its natural to sound that way I told him i wanted to record the noise he "IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME TO NOT TO . I begain to drive off when my car started making a loud noise Chris and His Dad told me to take there car as a loaner car while they rectify the problem . 2 days later i was told that the car was fixed and that he needed the loaner car back ASAP i went to return the car and pick up.mines for the 4th time a day later the same thing happen with my car it started smoking and my clutch wouldnt go in gear i immediately called Chris and told him the problem with the car and i needed a tow truck i was stuck in the rain with my pregant finace Chris told me to find a way to tow my car back to Originals i told i need his help i dont have road side assistance or anything . CHRIS TOLD ME I MUST HAVE BAD LUCK AND I AM THE ONLY CUSTOMER HE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH ,I told him i had also left my cousin phone in the loaner car that he let me use for 2 days he told me that he would check but have not contacted me at all . I am curently contacting the Bureau Of Automotive Repair as well as the state representative to Assist me into filing a law suit against Original his Dad doesnt speak english at all who is the owner he was extremely unprofessional and Chris has been extremely difficult as well as unprofessional telling me i have bad luck .i have given him.over $3000 and had to take my car back to him over 4 times for the same problem . I was looking for an EcuTek tune for my G37, and I was deciding between two shops. I emailed them both with my questions, and from the two, Pablo at Original Auto was friendly, responded quickly, and was honest and straightforward with setting up the appointment. I went and was told to look for Chris, but most of my interaction was with Pablo. Pablo was surprised at the fact that my car made 304 wheel horsepower before a tune, and after he ran the software on the dyno, he managed to squeeze another 13 horses out of my car, which brought me up to 317 to the wheels and he boosted the power throughout the entire powerband. I cannot be happier with my tune, Pablo was extremely helpful and informative, showing me how to switch between maps and answering all of my questions. The atmosphere was really chill as well, and being a car guy myself, I found myself drooling over the plethora of tuner cars, and I will definitely be coming back if I were to ever need anything done again. read more

I took my "totaled" 2002 Mustang in to Original Motorsports in Van Nuys, and for less money than my insurance company paid me, Chris and his brother Pablo completely rebuilt my car, and they did a fantastic job!!! I'm a guy who keeps his cars in perfect working order at all times. When I picked it up it looked like it was brand new. They fixed the damaged front end with a new bumper, added a few "go fast parts" including a new Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds fantastic!!! They are also rebuilding a friend of mines old Thunderbird and they've been doing a great job with that too!!! If your car needs ANY KIND of repair, Original is the place to go!!!
