I do not like this pep boys location. The first, and most important reason why, is because of how expensive they are. Most of the time I end up not even taking my car here for the service that I'm looking for, because it's so expensive. When I was looking to buy tires? Expensive. Oil changes? Expensive!. Repairs, almost as expensive as the dealership! The whole point of a pep boys is that I'm don't have to pay for dealership prices. So if I have to pay almost as much as I would have to pay the dealership, why would I bring it to pep boys? The people who work here are also not very helpful. It's extremely difficult to get anybody on the phone, it just rings and rings and rings. They're very dismissive, especially of my wife. The few times that we have had work done here she has not had a great experience with either dropping off or picking the vehicle up. So why two stars instead of one? Well, I've never had any issues with the quality of the work that they do. Or the timeliness of the work that they do. So while they are expensive, and the service isn't great, the actual work that they do seems to be fine. So fair is fair. read more

Less than a week later I had to go back to have a code reset, the wait was over 30 mins before they were bothered to acknowledge any of the five customers ahead of me. When I finally spoke to an attendant, he rudely proclaimed that they "don't reset factory codes." How interesting as this information would have been appreciated before forking over my money five days prior, but no matter. I took care of resetting the code myself. I came in this past weekend to get my front brakes done after getting my usual service and replacing the brake fluid done at Hyundai - I decided to go with Pep Boys as Hyundai quoted me $500 for the front brakes. Pep Boys told me I needed 2 new front tyres, a brake flush and new front brakes. Mind you, I had already replaced the brake fluids the day before at Hyundai and they told me I only needed 1 new tyre. Pep Boys claimed the brake fluid was dirty which doesn't make any sense if Hyundai changed the fluid the day before. 3 hours later, my brakes were done and I was on my way. It was a decent price for the front brakes but trying to get me to do other stuff that was already done doesn't seem right. It would make me weary coming back by myself as a female that doesn't know much about the mechanics of cars and what's needed and not needed. read more

Car service is normal for a shop what my two review is about is the customer service. Took my boyfriend's car in at 8am (which was the earliest suggested time for this location). I walked into the store and said "good morning" only to be greeted by silence and what seemed to be a very tired worker (understandable it's a wensday at 8am). He seemed very stand offish and just rude to begin with while also talking to me like I was a child which normally I can shrug it off. I forgot to give him a pamphlet which made him scoff and tell me in a very rude manor "you should have given this to me at the start", i tell him I'm sorry but I forgot I needed it until my boyfriend texted me. He then replied with another scoff and eye roll and said "you should sit because it's going to be a while now because I have to redo everything". Took the worker about 3 minutes total to "redo" everything. The actual oil change itself only took about an hour but the whole experience made me uncomfortable and not feeling very welcome (even though I've been here before with my boyfriend and didn't experience this). I got a flat tire and made an appointment for the next day. They cancelled it and i had to reschedule, which is inconvenient but i get it, stuff happens. When i showed up, they said they couldnt repair it and tried to sell me 2 tires. When I questioned it (my tread is fine, I dont drive much, the screw was in a patchable area) they said my tires are 7 years old and should be replaced. My car is a 2022. Its 3 years old and has less than 30,000 miles. This place is a scam and will rob you of your time and money. Didn't tell me the price or anything I had to ask him when the screen popped up for me to approve the services. When I asked him what kind of oil he was using he said "the one for your car" when I pressed him more he told me full syntheic and then claimed that was the only oil they used on cars... their website says otherwise. Typical up charge BS, but he told me I needed to change all four tires it was "mandatory." They were low but within the legal limit. Upon arrival, they told her it would be an additional $120 for the installation fee as her vehicle is a more challenging. Which I tried to pay but their system was not accepting the payment. In the process of attempting to charge me the extra install fee, they charged me AGAIN for the battery ($268.87). I asked them to stop running my card before they ran it up even more. Once I arrived they looked at the car and said you have to pay $113.50 to check your AC system and provide an estimate for repair. Rip off. I took my car I. Just to check the fluids before I went out of town. They told me that I needed to replace my front brake soon. So I told them ok just do it. But this location that I went in last week, got me re-thinking!!! #PepboysCorporate So I made a reservation on my phone for an Oil change as well as for their free tire rotation. Upon arrival they gave me an estimate of 90$ for the service and I waited for an hour only to be told that my car needs "additional" work. They quoted me for a tune up and wanted to replace all cabin air filter for a total of $500+. Of which I agreed on provided that they would actually take care if my car. Then I waited another hour. I was finally called in and then paid. Upon paying I asked and made sure if the tire rotation was done. I was assured that all services was done on my vehicle. The next day after the service I noticed my tire was still the same air pressure for it showed on my dashboard that it needed to be inflated. #PepboysCorporate Is it not in your policy to check tire air pressure for tire rotation??? Saw a Pep Boys on Sepulveda Blvd so went in, got new windshield wiper blades, and they put them on for free. No point in going to a dealer and paying money to have the same thing done. I used to trust these guys. I had taken my car here before and had great results at a decent price. Then my 2009 Toyota Yaris had a headlight go out. Seemed like an easy fix, so the next day I went into Pep Boys as soon as it opened because I did not have an appointment. I was told the repair would be either $38 dollars, or $200 something, because they MIGHT have to take my front bumper off. To fix a headlight. That seemed sketch to me. I pass my keys to the man in charge and he goes out to look at my car. Comes back five minutes later saying it will absolutely need to have the bumper removed. Again, that sounds like a load of it. I drove a couple miles to Studio City to an independent mechanic that my dad likes, pulled into the bay and simply said my headlight was out. I was asked to pop the hood so he could take a look. Twenty minutes later I was back on the road with a repaired headlight, no bumper removal needed. Never going to Pep Boys again. read more

I got a second and third option from a auto part shop and Mercedes dealer and they told me they had found a zip tie holding my top coolant pipe to my coolant tank. Not to mention when I started my car it started to squeak which was never a problem before. I went back inside and asked about it and Fred had written it down and failed to tell me the additional problem. They create problems so you can bring it back to them. Worst location by far. The store quoted a wait time of an hour and a half. I agreed to wait. While waiting, I suddenly have the urge to use the restroom. I ask the customer service reps if they have a restroom? (I've been sitting here over an hour) they give a bullshit story about the restroom being gross. One proceeds to tell me he doesn't even use their restroom. I find it very hard to believe that you work over 8 hours without ever using the restroom. It's such a slap in the face to not take care of the customer all the way around. If you expect me to wait well over two hours for a service that I'm paying approximately $500 for, there should definitely be a restroom for customers. This is my second and final service with the Pep Boys brand. They are over priced, slow, and not interested in the customers care. After speaking with their head mechanic at least 6 times about the problem with my car, not only did he not charge me for those conversations or to look at the engine at least twice, he diagnosed the problem! Then, he suggested I buy the part I needed online to avoid extra costs. He even referred me to two Web sites to acquire the part, which ended up saving me over $150.00! When I brought the part and vehicle in for service last week, he told me it would cost $300.00 for labor and should be finished in about 6 hours. Not only was it done in three hours, he only charged me $261.00 instead!!
